  • Description

General information

Accommodation, a "no-limit" yacht.

The Allures 39.9 is a lifting keel yacht with aluminium hull and composite superstructure. Created from very strict specifications and prepared on the basis of feedback from numerous circumnavigators, this vessel brings together all the characteristics of a genuine blue-water yacht. The Berret-Racoupeau Yacht Design studio has perfected a modern hull, wide, powerful and with the maximum waterline length. A guarantee of

speed in the water which opens all horizons: smooth sailing under the trade winds to heavenly islands or tacking in Scandinavian fjords. Its significant load capacity and its large diesel tank ensure complete autonomy to let you discover new horizons, without limits.

The Allures 39.9 is designed to satisfy all of your desires

The desire for open spaces, fresh air, a boat that works and works well, new horizons, to drop anchor in a deserted cove, to beach on a foreign shore, to spend time with family and friends in a novel way, comfort, increased safety, liberty...

Aluminium hull, ease of manoeuvring, performance, twin helms, visibility from the saloon, lifting keel, faired superstructure, large storage spaces, technical room, separate shower, dual chart table, deck lockers, saloon with ocean view...

All the arguments are there.

The plusses of the Allures 39.9

A. SAFETY FIRST. ALWAYS.

Highly shock and splitting resistant, while being light, aluminium is the optimum material for oceangoing boats. Above all, the Allures 39.9 is a reassuring yacht.

B. THE DUAL CHART TABLE

A space for warmth and friendliness, the two facing benches oer a new living space on the ocean or at anchor. All of the electronic equipment necessary for navigation is installed around the chart table within easy reach of the navigator.

C. LARGE STORAGE VOLUMES

Thanks to its technical room and the large amounts of storage in the kitchen, the saloon and the cabins, the Allures 39.9 is well suited to long voyages. In the open waters or an isolated cove, you will travel in complete freedom.

D. WELL THOUGHT OUT DECK LOCKERS

Large lockers accessible from the deck will take equipment such as diving bottles, a compressor, etc. They can be used to easily store the tender motor using a gantry. The motor is then protected while remaining accessible.

Easy to manoeuvre, even by a small crew

A guarantee of safety, all manoeuvres are controlled from the cockpit. Spacious and deep, the cockpit offers optimum ergonomics both at rest and during manoeuvres. Thus, the placement of the winches allows ideal positioning regardless of the speed or the sea conditions. Sailing upwind or downwind the wind, thanks to its twin helms, you can optimise the sail settings while holding the course; you are in perfect control of the yacht. Its top of the range helm (JEFA steering system) gives a precise and reactive feel to the helm.

Solo or with a small crew - the pleasure of sailing where you want and how you want.

An efficient deck layout

The wide and well protected cockpit ensures the fluidity of navigational manoeuvres and comfort for the crew while the yacht is at anchor.

DOUBLE STEERING WHEEL

As well as ensuring perfect visibility for the helmsman, the double steering wheel facilitates access to the deck and allow full use of this valuable space.

The winches are easily accessible from the helm. You can control the settings of the sails while maintaining your course.

The wide catwalks guarantee the safety of the crew during movements on the bridge and facilitate circulation at anchor.

The large windows bring exceptional amounts of light to the interior of the boat and allow you to keep watch from the inside.

Wide and unobstructed; movements are simple and secure.

Practical, safe and secure. Relax, you are aboard an Allures!

A high performance yacht

Wide hull, NACA profile rudder blades (and centreboard available as an option), modern and powerful sail layout. Because, at sea, performance rhymes with safety, Berret-Racoupeau Yacht Design has optimised the performance of the new Allures 39.9.

As all navigators know, on the ocean performance isn’t just measured in knots. For a blue-water vessel, performance also resides in robustness, load capacity, ease of manoeuvring, ergonomics and the reliability of onboard equipment. At Allures Yachting, these qualities are priorities.

You are demanding and so are we.

An elegant and well thought out interior

The Allures 39.9 bypasses the compromises between the pleasure of sailing and comfort aboard.

A centreboard yacht to go further, its centreboard slot is perfectly integrated into the interior layout allowing fluid and agreeable circulation in the saloon.

Aesthetics are an important part of the voyage, which is why the designers have worked over the harmony of shapes and colours, combining style and effciency. The design is innovative with natural and contemporary materials. The inside space is used in an optimum manner to make life aboard practical and your voyage even more pleasant.

The outside has conquered you, the inside will seduce you.

A pleasant and marine living space

When descending into an Allures 39.9, a feeling of space predominates. The height under the beams (2m) offers an exceptional habitable volume.

Comfortable and well-lit, the saloon and cabins of the Allures 39.9 are designed to offer a pleasant and friendly living space while being functional at sea. The galley, with its refrigerator with drawers and its generous work top, is perfectly suited to practical use while navigating.

Numerous cupboards facilitate food storage for longer cruises. For the descent to the front cabin, the numerous handrails facilitate circulation both at sea and at anchor.

Come in, stretch out, relax, you are aboard an Allures!

OWNER’S VERSION

Go as a couple, for several months, several years. This version is for blue-water sailors. The large starboard technical room allows storage of all the equipment necessary for “no limits” navigation. The rear cabin can be used for family and friends for a fun cruise.

CRUISING VERSION

Perfect for voyaging as a couple, with family or with friends, this configuration can sleep 6 people aboard (7 with the convertible saloon). The bathroom in the owner’s cabin offers much-appreciated privacy on long cruises.

The Allures 39.9 adapts to suit all your needs.

A functional interior planned for life aboard

“L” SHAPED KITCHEN

The kitchen is designed for safe and simple use while voyaging. The refrigerator with drawers provides both large volume and compartmentalisation facilitating storage and conservation of the cold.

OWNER’S CABIN

The owner’s cabin offers a comfortable bed and multiple storage solutions, allowing you to bring all the necessities, and even more, aboard.

LARGE REAR CABIN

The rear cabin has a remarkable living space. Practical, the large wardrobe allows the crew to move in comfortably.

SEPARATE SHOWER AND TOILETS

With a separate shower and toilet stall, the rear bathroom offers the comfort of much larger vessels.

Allures 39.9: Review and test

Allures Yachting has been building aluminium cruisers for 10 years and has so far launched over 100 boats. The 39.9 is its latest design created by Berret Racoupeau, after taking the many existing Allures owners’ experiences and wishes into account.

Allures owns two other boatyards, including Caen-based Garcia Yachting, where its hulls are built. Garcia is expert at alloy fabrication and its hulls are phenomenally strong, yet comparatively light. Once complete, the bare, round-bilge aluminium hulls are delivered to the Allures yard in Cherbourg, where they are burnished, painted and insulated before fitting out. Unlike her bigger sisters, the 39.9 has a GRP deck and superstructure, giving less weight, more headroom below and a smoother, warmer finish.

The 39.9 is designed as a bluewater cruising yacht, although some have bought her for local sailing as well. She can be quite heavily customised – especially in the starboard quarter, which can be a cabin, technical room, workshop, or a clever combination of all three by using the workbench as a berth and the space below for storage.

There’s also a large area behind the engine, which will house a good size generator, watermaker, extra fuel tank or anything else for long periods offshore. Access to both areas is very good. A plethora of panels in the sole gives excellent access to all areas of the bilge for regular inspection and there are no no-go areas hidden behind mouldings where problems might arise. This is particularly important with an aluminium hull, as a metallic object dropped into the bilges can cause serious corrosion problems.

Lifting centreboard

One of her key selling points is her shoal draft centreboard. She has 4t of cast iron ballast set in resin in the bilge around the keel box. The alloy centreboard is unballasted, although it weighs 200kg. It is raised or locked in place using simple Dyneema lines, which run up through the mast support post before being taken to a coachroof winch.

The accommodation layout is pretty versatile and for this reason no two Allures yachts are the same. There are four or five existing standard plans, including one or two heads, double berth saloon conversion, but Allures will ‘build’ a 3D prototype of whatever you want on its CAD system.

Our test boat, hull no.3, had a small ensuite heads in the forecabin with a loo and basin, but no shower. The alternative is a roomier cabin with more stowage. Either way the berth is a good size, as is the one aft, which gives a generous double without ‘poking’ the inboard berth under the cockpit sole.

The main heads is a very roomy compartment with separate shower stall and removable bar for hanging wet oilies. Although there is a small opening port in the heads, there was no vent or hatch in the shower on our boat, but I’m sure one could be added without too much difficulty.

Headroom and views

Headroom is good throughout the boat, but not excessive, so loftier owners may want to drop the sole in a few critical places. There is no standing headroom in the workshop/tech room, though there is a small inboard port for air and a portlight in the topsides for natural light.

The cabin sole is raised in the galley, aft head and navigation areas, but then drops around 8in (20cm) in the saloon and forecabin. While it’s great to have a panoramic view from the galley and chart table, it’s a shame the seating area doesn’t share the view.

The raised cabin sole takes a little getting used to, but enables the fuel, water, batteries and ballast to be kept low in the hull and close to the centre of the yacht. This is very important for a sailing yacht that has no ballast keel. It goes without saying that thought must be given to any weighty kit carried on board – particularly above decks or up the mast. This is one reason the yard doesn’t favour in-mast furling. Standard is a full battened, slab-reefed mainsail with lazyjacks and zip bag, although a few owners have chosen to fit a furling boom.

The 39.9 is a beamy boat for sure, but this doesn’t just provide bags of interior volume for an airy and bright accommodation, it also does a fine job of increasing her overall stability and her resistance to initial heel.

Rig and Sails

Auxilary power, accomodations, calculations.

The theoretical maximum speed that a displacement hull can move efficiently through the water is determined by it's waterline length and displacement. It may be unable to reach this speed if the boat is underpowered or heavily loaded, though it may exceed this speed given enough power. Read more.

Classic hull speed formula:

Hull Speed = 1.34 x √LWL

Max Speed/Length ratio = 8.26 ÷ Displacement/Length ratio .311 Hull Speed = Max Speed/Length ratio x √LWL

Sail Area / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the power of the sails relative to the weight of the boat. The higher the number, the higher the performance, but the harder the boat will be to handle. This ratio is a "non-dimensional" value that facilitates comparisons between boats of different types and sizes. Read more.

SA/D = SA ÷ (D ÷ 64) 2/3

  • SA : Sail area in square feet, derived by adding the mainsail area to 100% of the foretriangle area (the lateral area above the deck between the mast and the forestay).
  • D : Displacement in pounds.

Ballast / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the stability of a boat's hull that suggests how well a monohull will stand up to its sails. The ballast displacement ratio indicates how much of the weight of a boat is placed for maximum stability against capsizing and is an indicator of stiffness and resistance to capsize.

Ballast / Displacement * 100

Displacement / Length Ratio

A measure of the weight of the boat relative to it's length at the waterline. The higher a boat’s D/L ratio, the more easily it will carry a load and the more comfortable its motion will be. The lower a boat's ratio is, the less power it takes to drive the boat to its nominal hull speed or beyond. Read more.

D/L = (D ÷ 2240) ÷ (0.01 x LWL)³

  • D: Displacement of the boat in pounds.
  • LWL: Waterline length in feet

Comfort Ratio

This ratio assess how quickly and abruptly a boat’s hull reacts to waves in a significant seaway, these being the elements of a boat’s motion most likely to cause seasickness. Read more.

Comfort ratio = D ÷ (.65 x (.7 LWL + .3 LOA) x Beam 1.33 )

  • D: Displacement of the boat in pounds
  • LOA: Length overall in feet
  • Beam: Width of boat at the widest point in feet

Capsize Screening Formula

This formula attempts to indicate whether a given boat might be too wide and light to readily right itself after being overturned in extreme conditions. Read more.

CSV = Beam ÷ ³√(D / 64)

Allures 39.9: Reliable aluminum yacht for long cruises

The small French shipyard Allures Yachting entered the yacht building industry a little over 10 years ago, and has already achieved quite a lot in their narrow and exclusive niche, far from the mainstream.

Allures  builds convincingly durable aluminum yachts, and  Allures 39.9  with new technology, all-fiberglass decks are no exception. Sustainable and market-oriented improvements have led to continuous growth in orders and thus the development of the shipyard itself, which few manufacturers can boast of.

Allures yachting  very quickly surpassed their competitors and became the market leader in aluminum cruising yachts. Since its inception, the shipyard has built over 100 yachts, ranging in size between 40 and 50 feet, producing approximately 20 units per year.

Yachts   Allures   are distinguished by a rounded frame which is a feature of them and is rare in the yachting industry. Nine aluminum sheets with a diameter of 6 to 10 mm are placed on the conductors in a special workshop located directly at the shipyard. This structure is then welded to the frames and stringers. This sophisticated and carefully considered construction method guarantees a highly reliable and robust hull structure.

Another of the features of construction is considered  combination of aluminum and fiberglass ... Previously, the shipyard used fiberglass-reinforced plastic or  GRP,  from which were made parts of the deck - cockpit, stern, and the roof of the deckhouse. But developing the model  Allures 39.9 , the builder significantly increased the proportion of fiberglass by building the entire deck and stern of fiberglass sandwich using vacuum infusion technology. The aluminum body remains consistently strong, and the fiberglass is much lighter and more beautiful to look at, and modern shapes can be given to the silhouette. Thus,  Allures  tries to combine the advantages of both materials for a perfectly balanced boat. Despite the fact that according to the statements of the shipyard itself, the construction of a boat entirely from aluminum is cheaper.

Yacht Allures 39.9  designed for safe crossings, with particular attention to its offshore capabilities and easy handling in all conditions. This is reflected in the rigging: a thickened mast profile with a simplified sail plan and a relatively small sail area.

For long-haul cruising, the staysail is the recommended addition to the standard genoa with 105 percent overlap. When not in use, it stays attached and twisted.

Thus,  Allures 39.9 concept  is that this boat -  it is a reliable and safe cruiser ... Nevertheless, the yacht proved to be quite nimble during the test drive in wind speeds of around 10 knots. Moving sideways against the wind, under these conditions, the boat was sailing at a speed of 6.5 knots with a true wind angle of 45 degrees, and the pressure on both steering wheels remained almost neutral.  These numbers are absolutely in line with expectations for a cruising yacht of this size.

Allures 39.9   equipped with ballast  and ballast aluminum retractable keel. When raised, the minimum draft is 1.06 m. The keel is easily raised and lowered using a block control system leading to the deck. Retractable keel boats provide very smooth sailing in rough sea conditions. In addition, the keel has been improved over the previous model and takes up less space in the cabin, allowing for more dining space inside.

The galley is moved aft, port side, in the traditional manner, with plenty of usable storage space. Opposite the galley, on the starboard side, there is a navigation station, where there is ample space to lay out maps and install auxiliary electronics.

The boat also has a standard diesel engine.  Volvo D2  power of 55 h.p. and additionally a bow thruster  MaxPower.

Allures 39.9 offers two complete sets:

In the standard version  the boat is equipped with two separate cabins. A stateroom with ample wardrobe and storage aft, and a large forward stateroom with its own shower room. The bow cabin is intended for owners, it is spacious and comfortable for two, while the aft cabin will be comfortable enough for one person.

As an alternative The boat can be ordered with three cabins, but then the bow cabin will be reduced to a very compact size, without its own shower. The second version is a compromise, like other redevelopment variations, besides the standard one, it is not suitable for those who go on a long voyage.

Allures  Allocated more space for equipment service areas between cabins, for the installation of larger generator sets, water heaters, and water distillers, which are essential accessories for long ocean voyages.

Allures 39.9 technical systems and quality are impeccable for all weather conditions. If you are planning a long cruise and safety is critical to you, you can't go wrong with Allures!

Allures 39.9 Imagine

Home › The Fleet › Allures 39.9 Imagine

The Allures 39.9 Imagine came to us with bow damage, which was repaired nicely. Furthermore, the hull was sanded and sandblasted and various other work was done. Meanwhile, the owners have brought her to Norway.

Review from the owners:

“KM yachtbuilders are no strangers to us as they build the beautiful Bestevaer yachts. When our Allures 39.9 had some bow damage we were looking for a yard that could repair it professionally. We also wanted to get rid of the two-component clear varnish applied by the yard and have the boat delivered bare aluminum and professionally sanded. We asked Ron Spoelstra of Rossinante Yachts and Douwe Kutsch Lojenga of DE Yachting for advice. Both advised us to have the job done by KM Yachtbuilders.

At KM I could apply a new coating antifouling myself, which was nice, so I spent quite a few days there, and could experience what a fine team works there. Aluminum welders & machinists, carpenters, riggers, electricians, administration, etc., all professionals with passion for their work. That was a pleasure to experience because with passion the best results are achieved.

We sailed to Norway the day after the launch with the goal to reach the Lofoten, and on the return trip possibly via the Shetlands & Orkneys with a ship like new again. If you need a refit of your sailing yacht, we highly recommend KM yachtbuilders. As with any company, ‘it’s all about it’s people’.”

Allures 39.9 - Sold

Built 2013 / Price: €385000

Allures 39.9 1 Main

French Allures Yachting are well known worldwide for their long-distance sailing yachts built of aluminium. Aluminium is a well proven material, used in many different constructions where both precision and strength are important, e.g. for sophisticated constructions, aircraft, vehicles and ships. Ships for coast guard, fishing, ferries and special vessels are now often built in aluminium.

The sailing yachts from Allures Yachting are equipped with a centreboard, also known as a lifting keel. The basic idea of an aluminium sailing yacht with a lifting keel can be summarized as follows; an aluminium hull is good for tough weather at sea and it provides great safety. Aluminium does not absorb water, so the yacht can stay in the water all year round and is not affected by ice and cold. Aluminium itself forms a protective oxide layer on the surface, which gives a minimum of maintenance. The lifting keel gives flexible draft, trim options during sailing and reduced risk of damages in the event of grounding. This combination is excellent for coastal and long-distance cruising and especially for sailing at high latitudes and Arctic waters.

Allures 39.9, YMIR was launched in the spring of 2013, at the boatyard in Cherbourg, France and the owner sailed YMIR home to Norway. After that, the yacht has sailed in Norwegian waters but also on some longer trips to Shetland, the Faroe Islands, Iceland, Jan Mayen and Svalbard.

The owner specified very carefully the equipment and layout on board, prior to the cruising that was planned and therefore YMIR is well equipped for long-distance cruising with regard to both safety and sailing ‘single handed’. YMIR is equipped with two autopilots, four different options for generating electricity for consumption and charging and has a well-thought-out navigation and communication systems. YMIR also benefits from a ‘technical’ cabin, to stb. aft, with well-organized storage for easy locating of spare parts and tools. There is also a workbench.

Furling jib at the inner forestay and furling genoa at the headstay gives effortless flexible sailing and for downwind sailing there is a Parasailor, which is a very easy-to-handle spinnaker for a small crew. YMIR has a fixed windshield in front of the cockpit, which is common on yachts from the Orust boatyards, and sprayhood with a ‘Drop-back’. This offers gives excellent weather protection and two completely dry locations at the front of the cockpit in bad weather.

From the description above and the equipment list, it is clear that YMIR is exceptionally well-planned and prepared for coastal and open sea sailing and very suitable for Scandinavian and northern waters. The owner has very good knowledge of the yacht and experience of the equipment, which has been maintained in top working order throughout her ownership.

YMIR is located in her home port at Lofoten, in northern Norway and the yacht can be viewed by appointment.

Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital

allures yachting 39.9

There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.

How to find the right boat?

There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.

Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.

allures yachting 39.9

This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.

Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such  option  offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).

allures yachting 39.9

If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.

allures yachting 39.9

Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.

How to buy tickets?

Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.

“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!”  wrote  (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.

Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.

allures yachting 39.9

Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.

Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.

Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as  this   offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.

This  website  (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other  website  sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.

Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.

allures yachting 39.9

“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.

There are two main boarding piers in the city center:  Hotel Ukraine  and  Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.

Where to sit onboard?

Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.

The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.

allures yachting 39.9

Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.

There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.
