General Description

This Xc45 has the desirable three stateroom two head interior layout. The Xc 45 was the first model in the Xcruising range to be launched, and was named European Yacht of the Year, praised for her combination of cruising comfort, performance under sail and responsive handling. As with all the Xc models which followed, the Xc 45 incorporates the X-Yachts steel hull/keel girder for strength and resistance to grounding, with deck and sail layouts designed for ease of handling when sailing two-up. The "Next Generation" of the Xc 45 features larger bathing platforms, enlarged hull portlights, improved storage and functionality in the interior, and updated styling options.

This stunning XC45 is in a transferrable LLC. She has a large sail inventory with light air sails as well as storm sails. In 2022 she was outfitted with a new main sail as well as a boom furler for easy reefing. The owners selected her as a fast and safe long-range cruiser, and she has been optimized to achieve that goal. Many custom rigging modifications have been performed and all conceivable safety items have been added. Additionally, an optional fuel tank was installed during construction such that total fuel capacity is 163 gal. 

She has all available electronics, including radar, AIS, ICOM VHF 605, EPIRB, man overboard monitoring and recovery, and much more. A six-person Viking Ocean Pro self-righting life raft is also included. The finest anchor available, the Ultra, was selected and is attached to 200ft of 3/8" chain, which in turn is backed by 100 ft of 5/8" 3-strand. 

Additionally, she boasts a full bimini that covers the entire cockpit, a dodger upgraded with isinglass, and sliding boom/sail cover which is easily deployed at the mast. Owner's comments: She has been professional maintained, has always sailed in the coastal waters of the Aegean sea by her owners, and has never been raced in a regatta. When X2O was launched in 2015, she boasted very high cruising specifications, with 185k Euros in optional extras fitted over the standard specifications.

In 2022, her new owners invested an additional 70k worth of upgrades.

Much care and attention has been put into every XYachts produced in their factory in Denmark. In fact, very few boat builders have this level of attention to detail! The devil lies in the details, and that is why these boats are made to LAST generations. When properly maintained and used, XYachts maintain incredible value over time. BRISTOL CONDITION Outside, the hull underwent weeks of sanding and buffing in Spring 2022. A new polymer coating has been applied to give it that showroom gloss we love. It looks so good everyone that stopped by our boat thought it was new. The teak deck caulking has also been completely redone in 2022, restoring its natural beauty and providing a durable, non-slip surface that's perfect for sailing in any weather. The interior is in extremely good condition, with new cushions and upholstery throughout. All of the sails are new from 2022, a 40,000 euros expense. They work perfectly, they are fast and durable, and they are the ideal choice for this sporty cruiser. The Yanmar 4JH8 engine has only 1015 hours on it, and it could easily last another 25 years before it's due for a rebuild. Assuming the engine is properly maintained and serviced according to the manufacturer's recommendations, it is not uncommon for a Yanmar 4JH8 engine to last for well over 10,000 hours. Some owners have reported their engines lasting up to 20,000 hours or more. The Fisher Panda Generator has 358 hours, and will also last many years before it needs major work. The Water maker Feed pump has been replaced in 2022, along with the membranes and filters. The Air conditioning has been serviced by a technician, and should also last many years without major problems. SAVE MONEY Purchasing a slightly used XC45 will save you a significant amount of money compared to buying a brand new one. The XC45 is a high-end boat, and a new one can easily cost near 1M US dollars with all the options you want. By purchasing a used boat, you can often get a nearly identical boat at a much lower price point. SAVE TIME Secondly, purchasing a used XC45 can save you time and hassle compared to buying a new one. When you purchase a new boat, you'll likely have to go through a lengthy process of customizing the boat to your specifications, waiting for it to be built and delivered (currently over 2 years waiting lists), and then commissioning it before it's ready to sail. When you purchase a used boat, all of that work has already been done for you, and the boat is ready to sail as soon as you take ownership. UPGRADES AND CUSTOMIZATIONS Furthermore, a used XC45 may have already had some upgrades or customizations done that you would have had to pay extra for if you purchased a new boat. For example, the previous owner may have added a custom navigation system or upgraded the sails, which can save you both time and money. In the case of X2O, she had almost never been sailed until 2021, and she then underwent a number of improvements and upgrades in 2022. The rig has been re-tuned in 2022 according to John Mast Specifications, to ensure optimal performance in every condition. FIXED QUIRKS AND ISSUES Another benefit of purchasing a used XC45 is that you'll have the opportunity to learn about any quirks or issues with the boat from the previous owner. Every boat is unique, and by purchasing a used boat, you'll have the opportunity to learn about any idiosyncrasies or areas that require special attention. OWNER’S COMMENTS:

We commissioned the build of XPLORER OF HAMBLE because we wanted a very high quality cruising boat with a great sailing capability. As fans of the practicality afforded by aft cockpit boats, we previously owned a Hallberg-Rassy 412, also ordered from new as this was the largest aft cockpit model offered by the brand. We particularly enjoyed her sporty sailing performance, but soon felt the need for more accommodation and storage for longer distances and in particular taking part in the World Cruising Club’s ARC trans-Atlantic rally. The well-proven X-Yachts Xc 45 was the obvious solution, especially as they had just launched the new and improved Mk2 version.

XPLORER OF HAMBLE has fulfilled her brief perfectly and we have enjoyed many miles of fast but comfortable, effortless cruising. Under sail she will easily get to 8 knots very quickly and copes with all sea conditions incredibly well. My wife gets seasick and while XPLORER is not quite a cure, her sea-kindly motion has made things quite a bit easier. Under engine, she effortlessly cruises at 7/7.5 knots at just over 2-2200 revs with her Yanmar 80hp returning impressive fuel consumption at around 4l/hr. If you want to get there more quickly and burn more fuel 8 knots is easily achievable.

We sailed XPLORER OF HAMBLE from the X-Yachts yard in Denmark down to the Med for the summer of 2016. What a shakedown cruise! The Bay of Biscay and the Gibraltar Straights posed some good challenges which she took in her stride. We then left for the Canary Islands to take part in the 2016 ARC. We made the crossing with a crew of four which was perfect. We had lots of light wind days and some big squalls but at no point was her comfort in question, thanks to her sailing capability, bright and airy interior, large and well-protected cockpit and ample water tankage (large enough that we felt no need to take on the complication and potential unreliability of a watermaker). Having arrived in Saint Lucia, we enjoyed a winter season in the Caribbean, where XPLORER’s air-conditioning really paid for itself in keeping the whole boat pleasantly cool.

After her return from the Caribbean (by ship), we have based XPLORER in the Mediterranean and my wife and I have since enjoyed cruising around Spain, the Balearics, Sardinia, Italy and France. XPLORER is extremely easy for the two of us to handle thanks to her multiple foresail options, in-boom furling and electric winches with all the lines led back to the cockpit. The in-boom furling is a fantastic system and we’d never have anything else in future.

We now have our eyes on doing the World ARC in a couple of years time and feel for that trip, where we’d virtually become liveaboards with more crew members and friends joining us along the way, we need something a bit bigger again. If X Yachts made an XC58 it would be perfect!’

MANUFACTURER’S COMMENTS:

One of the main differences between the Xperformance line and the new Xcruising line is the hull design. The Xc line, with its deeper hull sections, provides a greater interior volume for tanks, and other essential cruising equipment; a feature which also provides smoother sailing in all weathers.

The Xc 45 is designed and developed for long-distance cruising, incorporating the most significant X-Yachts qualities: powerful main engine in a well-insulated compartment, with a 3-bladed folding propeller; large fuel and fresh water tankage, all strategically located low and central in the yacht for optimum weight distribution; an immensely strong steel hull girder frame, taking the loads from the composite lead/cast iron keel as well as from the keel stepped mast.

The prominent feature of the deck is a clean, uncluttered layout with flush mounted, openable deck hatches and stainless steel dorades for optimum ventilation. The sail cabin on the foredeck accommodates space for the asymmetric spinnaker, fenders and the optional bow ladder, and provides good access to the anchor locker.

To access the swimming platform, the transom is hinged down into a horizontal position, whilst the aft deck is lowered to create a walkway. A combination of electronically operated actuators, struts and springs makes the transformation between closed and open cockpit an effortless task. Also integrated into the platform is a bathing ladder and a shower unit.

All sail handling is executed from the cockpit. Halyards, reefing and control lines are led to the winches on the coach roof; the mainsail sheet is led to dedicated winches at the helm. The main sail track has been moved out of the cockpit in front of the sprayhood, providing an uncluttered cockpit with free passage throughout.

The helmsman’s position provides an excellent view forward both during sailing and while manoeuvering in the harbour. The control instrument console ensures a good view of the navigation instruments and is also a secure handhold when moving around while sailing.

Most boaters start their journey with owner-operator-size boats, but as their enthusiasm for the pastime grows as well as their voyaging aspirations, so does the length of the boat. There comes a point where some boaters will choose to leave the helm chair and enter the crewed-yacht arena. If you’re a boater considering that move, here are 10 ready-to-roam yachts looking for new owners and new adventures.

Ocean Alexander 27R – Almost Done – Pompano Beach, Florida

MarineMax has Almost Done , an Ocean Alexander 27R, listed at $7.99 million. The low-hour 2022 build will make a lasting impression with its beach club, whirlpool spa and five-stateroom layout which has an on-deck master stateroom and three VIP staterooms in total.

The “R in this series from Ocean Alexander, stands for Revolution,” Yachting previously reported . “It’s an apt description because the series, which also includes the 88-foot 27R and 97-foot 30R, is different from anything else Ocean Alexander has built in its 40-plus years in business. Starting with the styling, which is decidedly modern and edgy, there’s a deliberate break from the builder’s more traditional look. It’s all the more notable that the appearances of both the traditional cruisers and the Revolution series come from yacht designer Evan K. Marshall.”

2021 Sanlorenzo SL96A – Gatsby – Miami, Florida

The Sanlorenzo SL96A Gatsby is currently listed with Allied Marine for $9.25 million. 

“The ‘A’ in SL96A stands for asymmetric and Sanlorenzo achieves this unique design by, Conserving only the gangway on the starboard side and eliminating the one on the port side, which shifts to the roof of the superstructure,” says Sanlorenzo . “The asymmetrical configuration, seen on SL102A first, frees up about 10 square meters of space for internal use. With respect to a traditional layout, this arrangement offers more space, improving luminosity and flexibility.”

Furniture placement in the salon helps to define the yacht’s social spaces. A six-person L-shaped settee and ottoman are immediately to starboard with only a cabinet separating the settee from the sliding glass doors leading to the cockpit. A formal dining space for eight guests is adjacent to the salon’s settee, a feat only achieved because of the extra space afforded by the asymmetrical design. A flat-screen TV is mounted forward against the bulkhead separating the salon from the galley forward and to starboard, and the on-deck master suite forward and to port. A day head is just forward of the bulkhead and to port.”

2018 Viking 93 Motor Yacht – Obsession – Stuart, Florida

Gilman Yachts has Obsession , a Viking Yachts 93 Motor Yacht, listed and an asking $7.4 million. The 2018 enclosed-flybridge motor yacht has charter potential with its five-stateroom layout, two crew cabins and a sub six-foot draft.

Yachting ‘s initial review of the Viking 93 Motor Yacht reported how the New Jersey boatbuilder’s flagship model was based on its 75 Motor Yacht’s design, but also drew inspiration from a Viking owner’s Westport 112 .

“One Viking owner also has a Westport, and Viking’s designers and top brass spent a good amount of time on board that yacht learning how to nail down the needs of owners in that size range. What Viking developed from that experience is a boat built for socializing, one that lets hands-on owners feel at home while enjoying mega-yacht features.”

2019 Hatteras M90 – Jetstream – Key Largo, Florida

The Hatteras Yachts M90 Panacea called Jetstream is listed with Atlantic Yacht & Ship for $10.3 million. The 2019 build has an options list that totals more than $2 million. The motoryacht has a four-stateroom, five-head layout that sleeps 10.

This yacht can go the distance or go quickly. Captain’s choice. Twin 1,900 hp Caterpillar C-32A diesels provide power on Jetstream , giving it a reported 24.7-knot top speed and a 22-knot cruise speed. The engines have just 500 hours on them. Jetstream also has a Bahamas-friendly 5-foot-7-inch draft.

This Hatteras M90 Panacea has the performance, but it also has luxury cruising comfort. The salon feels thoroughly modern, thanks in part to the white-oak sole and light-tone furnishings. Frameless house-spanning windows and indirect lighting adds a sense of elegance and enhances the salon’s open feeling.

2019 Ocean Alexander 100 Skylounge – Lanikai – Seattle, Washington

Alexander Marine has Lanikai , an Ocean Alexander 100 Skylounge , listed for sale with an asking price of $9.8 million. The 2019 motoryacht has a five-stateroom layout, a crew quarters and engines with very low hours. Let’s take a closer look.

When Yachting first reported on the 100 Skylounge we noted at the time that “Ocean Alexander already offers a 90-footer with a four-stateroom layout whose guest spaces would qualify as VIP suites on most yachts. With its OA 100 Skylounge, the builder has added an on-deck master, much like the kind aboard superyachts. That’s one reason why Ocean Alexander calls the 100 Skylounge the entry-level yacht in its six-model mega-yacht series, which stretches up to 155 feet length overall.”

2014 Hatteras 80 Motor Yacht – Done Deal – Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Atlantic Yacht and Ship Inc. currently has Done Deal , a 2014 Hatteras 80 Motor Yacht , listed for sale with an asking price of $4.1 million. The 80-footer has a four-stateroom, five-head layout with accommodations for eight, and two crew cabins that sleep four.

The four staterooms include a full-beam master stateroom amidships with a centerline king berth and an en suite head. The forepeak VIP stateroom has a centerline queen berth and an en suite head. The portside VIP stateroom also has a queen berth and en suite head. The final guest stateroom is to starboard and has two single berths with an en suite head.

2009 Paragon 94 – Rhapsody – Chesapeake, Virginia

Rhapsody, a 2009 Paragon 94, underwent an extensive refit by Lyman Morse in 2018. The 94-foot motoryacht is currently listed for $2.975 million with Worth Avenue Yachts, which represents a $750,000-plus price reduction.

The refit included servicing all equipment and systems, updating soft goods, adding a dining area, transforming the flybridge into an enclosed skylounge and repainting the upper deck space.

Twin 1,550 hp Caterpillar C-32 diesel engines work with the yacht’s planing hull form (with 13.5-degree transom deadrise) to help propel this 100-ton motoryacht to a 20-knot top hop and a 14-knot cruise speed. The engines have just over 2,000 hours on them.

2007 Hargrave 82 – Roxy Maria – Fort Lauderdale, Florida

The 2007 Hargrave 82 Open Bridge motoryacht Roxy Maria could be a solid fit for an experienced owner-operator or for owners traveling with a small crew, according to Hargrave Custom Yachts, who built the motoryacht and is selling it for its current owners. The yacht is listed for $1.995 million.

When it comes to boat handling with or without crew, this Hargrave has upper and lower helm stations, bow and stern thrusters and two cockpit docking stations. There are also full walkaround decks and side-deck access from the lower helm station.

With regards to the interior layout, this yacht’s salon has three lounge chairs positioned around the room with a four-person sofa to port. The sole-to-ceiling, high -gloss cherry wood creates a comfortable, warm and inviting entertainment space. This interior design is from Yacht Interiors by Shelley.

2020 Ocean Alexander 84R – Panacea – Fort Lauderdale, Florida

The Ocean Alexander 84R Skylounge Panacea is currently listed with Gilman Yachts for $6.65 million. The 2020 motor yacht has accommodations to sleep eight guests in its four-stateroom, five-head layout.

Yachting has previously reported that “the 84R is built via resin infusion with structural foam, fiberglass and carbon fiber, for strength at sea. Carbon fiber is applied to high-stress areas and used in construction of the sky lounge. Aluminum beams in the bulkheads and ceiling further strengthen the yacht.”

2001 Burger 85 – Checkers – Destin, Florida

Worth Avenue Yachts currently has the 85-foot Burger, Checkers , listed for sale with an asking price of $2.9 million. The 2001 build underwent an interior refit in 2023, including an updated Furuno glass-bridge navigation suite. The yacht has a three-stateroom, four-head layout, and has a main-deck day head.

Checkers can sleep six in its three staterooms, which includes a full-beam owners’ stateroom with an en suite head amidships. The owners’ stateroom features a king berth on centerline, a flat-screen TV at the foot of the bed, his-and-hers vanities, and walk-in closets aft to port and starboard.

Forward, the two guest staterooms as well as the captain’s cabin are accessible from the pilothouse stairway. The forwardmost stateroom has a centerline queen berth and en suite head. The starboard VIP stateroom also has a queen berth and en suite head. The captain’s cabin has upper and lower single berths and an en suite head.
