Posting this personal review on behalf of my in-laws who reside in Happy Valley, Oregon, per their request. We owned a 45 year old 36' sailboat without a working engine. It was time to let it go and we put it in the hands of  Mike Fitz-Hugh at Passion Yachts to find a buyer. Michael Taylor also worked on it. Finally an offer was made and the boat was sold.  This sailboat was not going to earn a big commission, but they worked on it like it would. Michael Taylor stayed in constant touch with us and steered us through any rough waters. No praise is too high for these fine men who operate with such fairness and high integrity. It gives them great pleasure to make two people happy--the buyer and the seller. We couldn't be happier. D. & H. Nealey Happy Valley, Oregon.

Just completed the 101, 103 and 104 sailing certifications with Passion Yachts with Jen and John Ensley and the experience surpassed all my expectations. The Passion Yacht team went out of their way to help us schedule our classes to fit our needs. Doing our 101 with Jen turned out to be very instructive given her sailing knowledge and racing experience, on top of being a great and fun teacher. We sailed with John for almost a week and enjoyed that experience immensely, especially his attention to detail, his easy-going ways and his methodical, disciplined manner of sailing, and thoroughness in guiding and teaching us, always mindful of us learning and applying the lessons. We enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you, Passion Yachts Team!

Waiting for our captain to arrive on the first morning and I smiled with my new friends as an SUV power drifted into the parking lot. I could only say : "Oh captain, my captain!". I was lucky that my other three shipmates were foodies who created monster meals to keep us going because the second day the wind whipped up and we were going sailing! I guess if we weren't supposed to sail it they never should have called our boat : "the FLYER". Not just a great captain who gets you skilled enough to pass but lots of useful information that you just didn't know you needed. If all you want is just a dumb class and you *dont* want a great memory and an adventure then go somewhere else. If you are sailor who wants to sail, go spend a weekend sailing with Captain Mary and get your 104. (also get a little chubby from the food).

Purchased my second sailboat from Passion Yachts... Mike and his crew have always been patient with me as I asked questions and search the docks for boats, always willing to open them up and let me tour from bow to stern. Although I've searched for sailboats up and down the west coast, Passion Yachts seems to have some of the best inventory available. I'm sure I'll be selling and upgrading to a new boat in the next two years or so... I'll be back! They are knowledgeable and trustworthy!! Thanks again, Passion Yachts!!

I recently took a weekend workshop with Passion Yachts through their ASA Certified Sailing School. What a fantastic experience! My background - I'm a 3rd generation boater and 1st generation sailor. I've sailed casually in San Diego, and had spent 3 years working as professional crew on board mega yachts around the world. I've been in Portland for 3 years now and have had a hard time finding a way to connect with the sailing community. A few months ago I took a a brief sailing course with another local company and it was all around terrible. I left feeling very discouraged... My experience with Passion Yachts - I sent an email inquiring about the 101 course and Jenn eagerly called me back to answer my questions (and I had a lot!). She was awesome - super friendly, full of enthusiasm and very encouraging. In all honesty, if I hadn't had that great conversation with Jenn, I'm not certain I would have moved forward with the course. That said, thank you to Jenn for getting my butt into the class! I seriously couldn't be more grateful. The class - Captain Mary Schuck is amazing! She has a plethora of knowledge that she is eager to share. Mary is incredibly inspiring and has a passion and for sailing that is absolutely contagious. She is patient, kind and great at breaking down the answers to any question you might have. I left the classroom feeling very confident getting on to the water. Luckily, we had a gorgeous Sunday sailing experience, so we were able to do all of the drills we reviewed in the text and it was a fabulous day. I highly recommend Passion Yachts! My only regret is that I wish I found Passion Yachts sooner, as the season is now coming to an end. However, I will absolutely be back for several more courses to come this spring. Thanks for being awesome!

Awesome, transformative experience with teachers (hey Sean, Mike) who know their stuff. They break lessons into a series of immersive weekends and that gets one very excited for the next one.

Our week-long, live-aboard cruising and sailing courses give dedicated students the experience and confidence to achieve their dreams of nautical adventure. We teach sailing classes at every level, from basic sailing to offshore passagemaking. We actually went somewhere (Key Largo), rather than returning to the dock each evening. The course was made to be an adventure, as well as simply instructional. The weather was “made to order” — sun and gentle breeze Saturday through Wednesday, then Force 8 for our ‘foul weather instruction’ on Thursday.

I thought it was an excellent, challenging course. It definitely wasn’t a “cruise.” The instructor expected a lot from the students. I like that.

I have nothing but the utmost praise for your entire operation and the quality of the instruction that I received. Al Hatch is a consummate instructor and brings to this activity a love and a passion that is genuine and expansive. I hope to be able to return to Blue Water to experience some of the higher-level courses of instruction, and I certainly would have no trouble at all recommending your company to anyone.

Jonathan Banks

Director of performance yachts.

Jonathan is our Director of Performance Yachts and heads up the Bluenose Sailing School.

Jonathan grew up racing dinghies and one-designs on the south coast of England before embarking on a 4-year, 50,000-mile circumnavigation of the world as the skipper of a Swan 57.

Since dropping anchor in Rhode Island over 25 years ago, Jonathan has raced and cruised extensively along the East Coast and in the Caribbean. He holds an Offshore Yachtmaster from the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) and has achieved notable racing success on his Lippincott 30, AND SHE WAS, and his Beneteau First 36.7. OH, BEHAVE!

Wendy Durudogan

Lead instructor.

Wendy is an American Sailing Association (ASA) instructor certified up to the Advanced Coastal Cruising (106) level, and holds a USCG Captain’s License.

As an avid lover of sailing, her passion is to teach others to be competent sailors, while being safe on the water, and enjoying the pure experience of sailing. Wendy impresses upon others that you do not have to grow up sailing to be a good sailor. With good guidance you can learn and grow into the sport, and one day race or cruise the world!

Wendy believes practical experience is the best education, and nothing beats “tiller time” on the water.

Bluenose Sailing School is an American Sailing Association (ASA) affiliated school. Zu dieser Zeit ist es in Athen heiß und sonnig und die Temperaturen können bis auf 40 Grad ansteigen. Die Wassertemperatur liegt bei 27 Grad und lädt zu einem erfrischenen Bad im Meer ein. Im Sommer weht in und rund um Athen der Meltemi, welcher ab Juni vom Norden her einsetzt. In den Monaten Juli und August ist er mit 7-8 Beaufort am stärksten und bescherrt der Gegend somit anspruchsvolle Segelbedingungen.
