Description

The popular flagship of the Slovenian shipyard in 2014 has undergone a major renovation and was so successful that it made the list of finalists of the prestigious European competition Motor Boat of the Year. This stylish family cruiser combines quality sports cruiser for an active day and a good equipment for long journeys. The boat is easy to learn solid mirrored wall and sliding doors to the cockpit and the characteristic "lugs" squat stylish radar arch. In addition to the basic materials of the interior decoration, the customer can select dvojkotva the layout of the lower deck, or sacrificing to get a third double cabin. Fiberglass hull Elan Power 48 is designed with the participation of British industry Tony Castro designed under the bottom of the column of Zeus with a pusher oriented in the feed screws. For areas with a Sunny climate, the shipyard offers the option of Elan Power 48 Open open-top convertible salon and a wide sunbed on the transom.

What we sayThe 48 seems like quite a design departure for Elan, with touches such as the near full-length window and the curious grey gel-coat, which we reckon gives the Elan a cool, purposeful look.

Form has not taken priority over function though – the cockpit has a sensible balance between sunbathing room and seating areas when at rest or during a passage. Opposite the dinette there is a good-sized wet-bar and an optional cockpit griddle, which is perfect if you feel like retracting the hardtop and having a barbeque.

There is a choice between a spacious two-cabin layout below decks, but the three-cabin, all-ensuite set-up caters for those owners who regularly have guests on board. Elan have designed the hull to cater for a V-drive layout, but will also fit IPS if requested. The twin 575hp Volvo diesels giving a top speed of 34 knots. The combination of speed and a very capable hull should throw down some serious competition in the 50ft hardtop category.

Elan is a Slovenian company with 65 years of experience, innovation and full of Eastern promise. It is located in Bejune na Gorenjskem and specialises in a wide range of sporting goods best known for their skis and snowboards. The Winter Division at Elan manufactures skis and snowboards, the Marine Division produces sailing yachts. In the year 1949, the boat building arm of the business began with the production of kayaks, canoes and small boat production made of waterproof wood. In the year 1950, with their commercial success, exporting of boats to the USA began. Elan switched its production from wood to utilise the new materials in the production of their racing kayaks and boats by the beginning of the 1960’s. It was also an advent of reinforced polyester during that period. Elan yard was producing small vessels and sailboats by the 1970’s with its most successful craft that was sold over 10,000 units in the years that followed. The 1980’s had a significant shift towards the production of larger cruiser-racer sailing yachts that were designed by the J&J Design studio which included the legendary Elan 31, that won the Quarter Ton World Championship followed by many award-winning projects and also the European Yacht of the Year title. Elan is laying strong foundations for the future with its strong base built upon rich tradition, combined with an innovative present. Elan consists of new generation yachts offering the perfect balance between performance, comfort, ease of handling and safety without compromise. It inherits many features from the ultimate racing machines and with state of the art deck equipment positioned for the optimum performance and a fine-tuned sail plan, every Elan Yacht offers a superb sailing experience.
