WHAT KIND of EXPERIENCE  YOU are LOOKING for?

While researching sailing operators - keep always in mind - that in order to make BEST decision - the price tag shall not be your main indicator - as the saying says -  “you get what you paid for” in the end . 

Make sure you are not fooled with PERFECT catalogue pictures and shiny marketing materials - as they may be further from reality than you could imagine.  Ask for real images ;-)

Don’t be fooled that advertising the NEWEST boat (was it the newest when the website was made, when ? ) is  therefore BEST - as the age of the sailing vessel and your charter  experience, has nothing to do with you final satisfaction. 

You can have the best time of your life on a classic boat from 1940s - as long as the vessel is taken care of and CLEAN - by devoted and passionate owner. 

Some classic yachts  are like WINE especially if cared by a devoted owner  - and offer luxury experience on a comfortable   ELEGANT classy  vessel. Quality of most stadarized new “modern” vessels is far below the vessels that were made before 90s (in most cases - excluding of course world famous million dollar + yachts e.g. Oester etc). Why ? Cost effectiveness ….to cater to  middle class. And most owners know it - therefore they keep good boats - see % of value depreciation of new “modern” vessels to well known classics from 90s :-) - there is a reason why they keep the value and don’t loose 50% in first 5 yrs :)

Before,  the yachts of 40 feet plus were built with quality for the people who could afford it - and expecting highest quality - without cutting corners. Today casual market tempts with lower prices - compromising quality tremendously.

However in any service, and especially charter  - the most important factor is a   HUMAN factor  - as in the end you will remember  WHO you sailed with  . 

Was the captain/crew professional? courteous? entertaining? or your skipper was a “ driver" that wanted to have it done asap …and you had nothing to talk about …. Is he “young” and strong enough to fully perform and open sails ( yes - it is very much physically demanding job and need full attention) … . Did he open sails or was under motor only for his convenience ?

Miami has it all - just make your research and be careful with “product - placement’ articles, literally advertising one particular boat / location for the convenience of the author = that boat owner :-)

Please do not be fooled by ads of free professional photography is included - as of what we know - nobody will offer you truly professional services for free ( if they are really good) as such services require 2 assistants to hold reflectors and modifiers (screens) to create/control light, more sophisitcated equipment ( not just DSLR/s NIKON or CANON that almost every body has nowadays) That does not make you a professional …. There is much more to that. We love photography but we don’t call ourselves pros just because we have a DSLR Nikon or Canon (nowadays everybody calls themselves pro :-)

For truly professional services - you may hire photographer and invite him aboard. Research well, as most “prof” in Miami may be a person with DSLR and silly skills behind 

Good Photography is an ART for which you need a good eye and tech skills (science) as well.

Timing - Most sailors know that even a full day is not enough to enjoy true sailing trip - but due to time - half day ( 4 hrs ) is our most popular charter .

We don’t recommend anything shorter than 4 hrs - as honestly 2 h ride ( offered by many older retired captains) means  leaving marina - motor and back in slip. 

Each marina (in Miami) = no exceptions , have access channel that can be 10-20 -30 min long - before you can open sail, based on wind direction of course  - so calculating entry and docking part - you know your answer what 2 hrs on sailboat is a ride from any location.

For some captains - due to their age - it is more convenient - as it is the easiest trip and does not even require opening sails …. just motoring … and for them least effort and most money earned by doing 2-4 a day short riders under motor.

For sure this is not BEST value you were hoping for ...

Miami sailboat charters for daily trips are available at an average of $1100 per day. Cheaper boats (sometimes with no captain included) may be rented for $250. Our luxury Miami sailboat charters may have price tags up to $3850, with crew, fuel, docking fees and other extras added to your budget.

Will I be charged a security deposit for my Sailo charter?

Most of the boat owners require a boat rental refundable security deposit. The renter can check the security deposit amount at any time on the booking page. Upon instructions from the boat owner, Sailo will place a hold on the security deposit prior to the trip date or will notify the renter that the amount is due upon arrival at the marina, payable directly to the boat owner, in cash or by credit card. The funds will be released after the trip if there are no incidentals.

• If you are booking for a single day and your reservation is confirmed more than 7 days in advance, a deposit of either $1,000 USD or 50% of the total cost of the reservation (whichever is greater) is processed immediately in order to hold the yacht. Once your embarkation date is 7 days away, the remainder of the amount due is processed.
• If you are booking for a single day and your reservation is made 7 days or less in advance, the total price of your reservation is processed immediately.
• If you are booking for a multi-day charter and your reservation is confirmed more than 30 days in advance, a deposit of 50% of the cost of the yacht is processed immediately in order to hold the yacht. Once your embarkation date is 30 days away, the other 50% is collected for the price of the yacht, plus the APA, plus the taxes due.

Terms of refunds are dictated by the Charter Agreement. Generally, once a payment is collected, it is non-refundable. In certain circumstances, as dictated by the Charter Agreement, credits can be provided so you will be able to enjoy your yacht charter at a future date that is convenient for you.

• Charters start at 9AM on the 1st day and end at 3 PM on the last. A $200 CASH security/damage deposit is payable at check in time and refundable at checkout time.
• Delivery fees to pick up clients at a port other than home base or one way trips are charged at a rate of $ 810 per day for travel time. (Please inquire for more details.)

"SLEEP-OVERS" are available to you. You may arrive and check-in the night prior to departure anytime after 5PM or you can do a "SLEEP-OVER" the night of return to the dock at the end of your charter. The group charge is $ 160 and no evening meals are available. Continental breakfast is included. Free parking is available at our Coconut Grove base.

Because of additional expenses incurred when the destination is Bimini, Bahamas (from our Miami base), a one time group charge of $525 will apply. (Your crew will handle all paperwork ahead of time for domestic and foreign customs and immigration procedures.) Rates are "off-season" all year ... always!

NOT INCLUDED IN THE ABOVE RATES ARE:

• Liquor, beer, wine and soda. Please bring your own. Transportation will be made available so you may obtain your bar provisions locally.
• Moorings and dockage fees in marina's if you choose to dock overnight during your charter week. (Vessels are required to dock in a marina at Holiday isles in the Keys and Bimini, Bahamas.)
• Domestic / foreign Customs and Immigration fees.

A gratuity for your crew is customary in the charter industry if their services meet your expectations.

SKIPPERED BAREBOAT RATES

We offer TROIKA II as a ‘Skippered bareboat’ (You provide for your own meals). Your galley is fully equipped with all the cooking and eating utensils you could possibly need including a Force Ten propane stove / oven, microwave oven, stainless steel marine BBQ, pressure cooker, and large capacity freezer and refrigerator. All amenities listed above for a ‘Skippered Charter with meals’ are included except of course your meals. It is customary in the charter business to provide meals for your captain. Our company vehicle will transport you to the local market and back to assist you with your provisioning. The reduced rate is as follows

FOUR PERSONS, SEVEN DAYS...DEDUCT $500 FROM THE STANDARD RATE. TWO PERSONS, SEVEN DAYS...DEDUCT $325 FROM THE STANDARD RATE.

Please inquire for reduced rates relating to terms less than seven days or for groups totaling three or more than four.

What an awesome experience! While in Miami Beach on a work trip, our group was looking for something different to do. Skeet shooting on a yacht? Yes please! We booked the All Day Adventure which is fishing and skeet shooting. We received training on handling the shotguns and guidance on how to 'get the shot'. It was a pretty amazing and now I'm hooked. A few in our group just wanted to hang in the sun and the deck is really comfortable and spacious. Bad-ass sound system as well! Chef Bianca is a very talented chef and the presentation was beautiful. The Salt crew were so accommodating and helpful - Cody - Captain Rolando - Gaby and Franco We had such a great time, we ended up booking a sunset cruise on their other boat a few days after our Skeet Charter. If you're near the Miami area and are looking for a great experience, you HAVE to treat yourself! 10 stars!

Highly recommend me and my family had a great time celebrating a birthday party The team was so helpful and friendly and professional Definitely we will be back

We scheduled/experienced two different boating experiences last week in Miami with our family of 5. We scheduled a 2 hour Venetian boat tour on Christmas Eve and a 2 hour skeet shooting adventure the day after Christmas. Franco was so helpful with scheduling and made the whole online process smooth and simple. Our teen boys loved each experience and enjoyed learning more about Miami from the fabulous SALT staff during each activity. We look forward to scheduling more in the future.
