Day 1: We leave Illinois and visit the American Pickers Store, Antique Archaeology, before

spending the evening in Davenport, Iowa at the Holiday Inn. 

Day 2: The beautiful Riverboat Twilight awaits! We will board the riverboat in LeClaire, Iowa where an expanded continental breakfast is waiting for you before we depart north on our journey. Our captain will be your guide to the wildlife, valley landscapes and historic river towns. Enjoy live entertainment, games, two snacks, and both lunch and dinner served at your table before arriving in historic Dubuque, Iowa. Accommodations are at the riverfront Grand Harbor Resort, where your luggage will be waiting in your room.

Tonight, the Diamond Jo Casino is within walking distance if you'd like to visit. 

Day 3: Start your day with breakfast at Tony Roma’s in the resort. Spend the morning exploring Dubuque’s history, architecture, shopping, and other attractions using our complimentary shuttle.  Admission is included to Iowa’s #1 attraction, the must-see Smithsonian-accredited National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium. Later in the morning, we will re-board the Twilight for our return journey. Take in all the sites that you missed on the trip upriver. Enjoy lunch and dinner served at your table. We arrive back in LeClaire in the early evening and spend the evening at the Holiday Inn in Davenport, Iowa.  Day 4:  We travel home full of fantastic memories!

Awesome Fall cruise up and down the Mississippi! HIGHLY recommend this cruise. It was so beautiful and we were just in awe of the colors. We also loved how the Captain narrated some of the trip!

Hubby and I loved the 1.5 hour sightseeing tour! There's a ton of seating around the boat and we were lucky to get front row on the top deck. We bought a strawberry daiquiri from the bar and had a super relaxing afternoon. The captain gave some occasional information on the area, otherwise we just peacefully enjoyed the view. The boat was mostly seniors, but I would definitely grab a group of my friends (young adults) and go for a cruise in the future!

The town of LeClaire is cute. There are lots of shops and restaurants. The 1.5 hour cruise is perfect. It was just enough time on the river. The were clean and organized.

Loved the two day cruise. Extremely relaxing, comfortable boat with a great crew and great amenities. I wish more "travel" was like this! Would absolutely come again.

Took the 2 day river cruise on riverboat Twilight from Le Claire Iowa ( Davenport area) to Dubuque Iowa and back!! The weather was grey, overcast, and occasional rain both days. The trip was fantastic , weather be damned!!! The crew was welcoming. The Captain informative on river lore. He also kept us informed about what was happening with and on the river. Lots of Bald Eagle sighting and other birds. The food was delicious!! The snacks plentiful. Plenty of seating on all decks,Inside and out. Great views of river. Fun entertainment for part of cruise. I enjoyed hearing the water slap against the hull while enjoying the quiet beauty of the river. Whenever the sun came out it was glorious!! Bring a jacket, it can get a bit chilly on the river. Especially when it was overcast and drizzling. (I stayed outside both ways except for meal and snack times.) If you listen to the Captains announcements you can fill out a small questionnaire for a chance to win prizes! On the bar deck you will see handmade kaleidoscopes, fantastic works of art by local artist Tom Chouteau. Unfortunately they are not for sale. There are riverboat drawings by Tom in the gift shop on board. Beautiful drawing, and amazingly low priced. We bought a picture!! Tom also works for the boat. You may meet him when checking in your luggage, or when getting transferred to the hotel in DBQ. He autographed his drawing for us back in Le Claire!! The hotel in DBQ was superb! Close to boat, clean comfortable and our luggage was in our room when we arrived. If you need a handicapped room, let them know when you book your tour. I waited 'til we checked our luggage that first morning. Fortunately they were able to accommodate me and I had a room with a walk in shower!! They actually radioed the boat while on the river to let me know a handicapped accessible room was ready for me!! Wow!! Breakfast buffet at hotel was superb, with all the usual accouterments plus biscuits and gravy. One last comment, then I will end and post some pictures. Our Steward on the main deck was Dylan!! He was incredibly helpful, kind, and cheerful. He made several trips to the 3rd deck to get or refill our beverages. Was quite attentive to our needs before, during, and after meals and snacks, took care of us in the gift shop, helping us find sizes, and digging out a pair of gloves for me from God knows where. He made sure we had brochures of the boat when we left. We have given them out to friends and family with high recommendation they take this trip. We will be back, in spring !! We took the two day cruise from LeClaire to Dubuque. It was great. So relaxing. Boat is just big enough to let you move around as needed but small enough to kind of force you to relax and just take in the scenery. Captains narration was nice-informative but not over done. All staff very friendly. The hotel/set up in Dubuque was well thought out-the museum there is really a gem. Bring a book and plan to chill out in a rocking chair,see bald eagles and pelicans, have a drink and unwind surrounded by beautiful scenery.

We had a terrific time on the two day cruise. The crew was darling, friendly and attentive; the food simply outstanding, plentiful and delicious and the ambiance relaxing. Scenery lovely and the captain's narrative added so much. We highly recommend and will do it again! We are from Utah and came to Missouri to visit family so it was a nice way to spend some uninterrupted time together.

My wife and I had took the 1.5 hour boat tour as that was what was available. Awesome experience , good staff and professional and relaxing atmosphere. At only $20 per person this was well worth it. We'd definitely come back when we are in the area.

We just went on the Twilight Cruise, it was very relaxing and extremely organized. I would not have changed 1 thing! The food was plentiful and delicious. And yes, there isn't WiFi or TV but that wasn't an issue for us. Senior citizens? Yes, plenty of the nicest people to hold a conversation with. We had a wonderful time.

It was nice and the people are friendly. If you are looking to relax and learn facts about the Mississippi, it's the trip for you. I'm glad I went. If I had it to over again I would go on the one day cruise. Just FYI to be prepared: The WiFi doesn't work onboard. There may be major delays due to locke sharing along river. Only one bathroom on first deck. Only one bar on top (3rd) deck with no table service. No Television to watch sports. BRING SOMETHING TO READ. Almost all passengers are Senior Citizens.

Absolutely perfect in all ways!

My Friend and I went on the Riverboat Twilight and it was the most perfect/awesome adventure! From reserving our trip to our final walk to our car after the two day cruise, all was perfect! Staff are amazing, from the Captain to the servers, to the musical entertainers. The food is suburb and generous! Everything is very well organized, from our luggage/hotel in Dubuque/seating for meals, free shuttles in Dubuque, etc! The scenery and info along the way from the captain was wonderful! This was an absolutely perfect two day cruise, and we are going again in Mid October as we loved it so much!!.

Wonderful relaxing two days....

Extremely enjoyable trip. The cruise itself was delightful as you slowly moved up and down the river enjoying the wildlife and listening to the Captain explain the view and history. Unless you are a very big eater you have to be selective as they feed you FIVE times a day. Not only is the food plentiful but it is also very good. The Grand Resort in Dubuque was a nice stay as we had a view of the river. There was adequate time to explore some of the sights In Dubuque. I think we will do this trip again in the future…….

Where to eat, drink, shop and relax in charming LeClaire on the Mississippi River

T his small Iowa town along the Mississippi River is known for being the birthplace of Western icon Buffalo Bill and, in the past decade, the History Channel show “American Pickers.”

LeClaire sits on the western bank of the Mississippi River just north of Bettendorf.

Take a walk down Cody Road — adorned with stereos attached to trees playing songs like “Mr. Sandman” — which runs parallel to the Mississippi River and find antique stores and gift shops, places to drink and eateries with impressive views.

Where to eat in LeClaire

Dine in a home that dates back more than a century with the Crane & Pelican Cafe , located at the Dawley House, which maintains its original chandeliers, fireplaces and pine floors. The stately brick home, built in 1851, formerly served as the residence of Daniel and Sabina Dawley and their nine children, according to the restaurant. Expect a menu of American fare including slow-roasted beef brisket, Cajun pasta — topped with blackened chicken, sirloin steak, or salmon over rigatoni noodles — pecan-crusted salmon, sandwiches such as a blanched asparagus with cream cheese served on rye, and for dessert, homemade ice cream. Stop by on Sundays for a buffet brunch from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Location: 127 S. Second St., LeClaire

Another option: If you’re looking to dine with a view, Steventon’s , located at 1399 Eagle Ridge Road, is the choice since it overlooks the Mississippi River. The fine-dining restaurant with American cuisine skews more toward surf and turf — think filet mignon, ribeye, scallops and salmon. You could make a meal of the tuna tartare tower, smoked salmon cakes or oysters, either on the half shell or baked with Parmesan cheese and Creole sauce. Sit on one of the two decks, keep warm by the firepit when the temperatures drop and order the show-stopping Greek cheese, set on fire table side with the help of a little 151 rum.

Where to catch a drink in LeClaire

Mississippi River Distilling Co. was founded in 2010 and has since expanded into Davenport. The distillery makes gin, vodka, liqueurs and whiskey, serving them in drinks at the LeClaire location, which the distillery also calls a cocktail house. Try drinks such as a honey whiskey-based lemonade, bourbon peach tea, a vodka Mississippi mule and more.

Another option: Green Tree Brewery , 309 N. Cody Road, is Mississippi River Distilling Co.’s neighbor. Like the distillery, the brewery offers great views to accompany your drinks, which include perfect-for-the-summer IPAs spiked with mango and blood orange or a hefeweizen beer named after the brewery in German, Grüner Baum.

Where to find the perfect gift in LeClaire

Aunt Hattie’s Fanciful Emporium has something for everyone, including men — you’ll get that reference once you visit. While you may find some vintage goodies, expect to discover loads more whimsical, wacky gifts that will make you chuckle, or question whether you need it, like a cookbook from rapper Snoop Dogg.

Another option: The Western-inspired boutique Cody Road Trading Post sells apparel, décor, knick knacks and more at 110 ½ N. Cody Road.

Where to shop in LeClaire

A visit to LeClaire wouldn’t be complete without a stop at Antique Archaeology , whether you're an “American Pickers” fans or not. The store is owned by Mike Wolfe who, in the History Channel series, is accompanied by friend Frank Fritz in earlier years and now his brother Robbie Wolfe as they travel and discover fascinating finds across the country. Antique Archaeology houses items from the show and "American Pickers" merchandise from vintage motorcycles, signs and décor to apparel.  

Location: 115 ½ Davenport St.

Another option: Shop for antiques inside a home over a hundred years old. Mississippi Cottage Antiques , 606 N. Cody Road, is located in a house built in 1915 that overlooks the Mississippi River. Find vintage canes, silver dollars, antique furniture, glassware and perhaps least expectedly — home-grown catnip. The two-story shop has five distinct rooms upstairs, including one dedicated to military and war items such as knives and clothing.

What to do in LeClaire

You won’t miss the Buffalo Bill Museum in part because of the Lone Star Steamer docked, enclosed and on display next to the museum. The 19 th century steamer, designated a National Historic Landmark, is the only example of a wooden-hulled boat built in traditional Western rivers fashion in America today, according to the museum. The museum is named after LeClaire-born William Cody, better known as Buffalo Bill, the American soldier, buffalo hunter and showman responsible for Buffalo Bill’s Wild West touring show. In addition to Cody, the museum also features the history of the Mississippi River and early American life and settlers.

Another option: Step off dry land and go sight-seeing with Riverboat Twilight . Guests will travel north on the Mississippi River, passing by Rapids City and Port Byron, Illinois, as well as Princeton, Iowa. The Victorian-styled boat has outdoor decks for passengers to enjoy the views. Dubuque Itinerary & Activities

• Enjoy the many activities in The Port of Dubuque area.
• A ticket voucher for your entry to The National Mississippi River Museum is included in this folder.

DAY 1: THIS EVENING

When you arrive at the Port of Dubuque, you will be provided the option to walk or use our shuttle transportation to travel to your hotel, The Grand Harbor Resort.

Please bring any belongings you do not want left on the boat with you to the hotel.

Room Assignments: A crew member will escort you to the lobby of the hotel, where your keys will be waiting for you. Check out time is 11:00 am tomorrow morning.

Luggage : Your luggage will be waiting for you in your room when you arrive. When you depart the hotel tomorrow morning, please leave your luggage inside your room door. Your luggage will be waiting for you upon arrival back in LeClaire.

Evening in Dubuque : The remainder of your evening in Dubuque can be spent at your discretion. We have suggested some places to visit under the “Points of Interest” section.

DAY 2: TOMORROW MORNING

6:00 – 9:00 am Breakfast : Breakfast is served at Tony Roma’s restaurant in the hotel. The cost of breakfast is included in your cruise fare; no voucher required. Feel free to tip your waitstaff.

8:00 am Shuttle Begins : Continuous, complimentary shuttle service will begin from the main lobby of the hotel to points of interest in the Port of Dubuque, including the National Mississippi River Museum. The shuttle makes complete, round trips every 20 minutes. Shuttle stops are further described in the “Shuttle Stops” section.

This shuttle will also return you to the Port of Dubuque no later than 11:15 am to re-baord the Twilight for a prompt departure time.

8:30 am Musuem Opens : The National Mississippi River Museum opens early for Twilight passengers. Enjoy this exclusive access to a must-see attraction!

10:45 – 11:15 am Boarding Time in the Port of Dubuque : Begin to make your way back to the Port of Dubuque to board the Riverboat Twilight for your departure back to LeClaire, Iowa. The shuttle will be making its final rounds for pick up around 11:15.

11:15 am Final Boarding : Passengers are encouraged to be on-board the Twilight no later than 11:15 am.

11:30 am Leaving Dubuque : The Riverboat Twilight departs for LeClaire, Iowa no later than 11:30 am. We hope you made it!

Our complimentary shuttle service provides a great way to explore the historic and beautiful city of Dubuque, Iowa. The shuttle makes complete round trips every 20 minutes. Beginning at 10:45am, the shuttle will also stop at the Riverboat Twilight dock to begin boarding for the return departure.

Please arrive prior to the final boarding at 11:15am.

Built in 1882 by Dubuque businessman J.K. Graves for his own personal use, the cable car gave him quick transportation between his home on top of the bluff and his business interests down in the “flats”.

Today the round-trip fare is $4.00 for adults and $2.00 for children. Enjoy tremendous river and city views from the top. Open from 8am to 10pm.

Nestled at the base of the Fenelon Place Cable Car is the Historic Cable Car Square shopping district. Featuring some of Dubuque’s finest architecture, this area is home to a diverse blend of businesses. Gifts, crafts, pottery, art galleries and antique shops.

St Luke’s Church

One of Dubuque’s finest examples of Romanesque architecture. The church was finished in 1897 and includes eight large and ninety small Tiffany windows.

If you are not vaccinated, we strongly encourage you to do so, however, at this time the Riverboat Twilight does not ask for proof of vaccination. Mask wearing is the choice of the individual. The Twilight offers ample indoor and outdoor seating on all three decks and plenty of fresh air.

We will continue to maintain our increased sanitization efforts of the TWILIGHT and our boarding facilities, and we continue to provide hand sanitizer aboard the boat and employ a strong air purifier that uses UVC lighting that has been proven to destroy viruses and other bacteria.

For the safety of our passengers and crew and to maintain proper cleanliness, we have implemented the following guidelines for parents of children under the age of 14. While onboard the vessel and when making use of our food and beverages services, children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. With your cooperation and understanding, we will be able to continue to offer a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

As an owner, of the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Le Claire, IA and the President of Great Lakes Management Group which manages the hotel’s day to day operations, I wanted to say thank you. The business relationship with the Riverboat Twilight and her passengers is valued and much appreciated. We all know businesses from every industry has been operating in a different environment the last 8 weeks and will encounter new changes in the future.

We continue to monitor the franchise, local, state and federal safety guidelines to insure our guest and staff safety. For example, we anticipate a few changes in the near future which will include the following: a plastic shield / barrier at the front desk check,  revised breakfast offerings without a buffet setting, hand sanitizer located in the lobby and all floors at the elevator landings, continued use of hospital grade products to clean and sanitize the guest rooms, individual sanitizer wipes as an in-room amenity, removal of all products in the rooms that are reusable for example, pens, pads, laundry bags, and throw pillows, these items will be available upon request.
