I like this song, it's easy to listen, and beside that, the part that I curious to know is
Once in 1964 (Sailboats wish that they were stars) An actress ran on the shore ('Cause they don't know who they are) And though you'll never return I love you, Audrey Hepburn Sometimes I can see your face in the crow
after a little search in wikipedia, I know that Audrey Hepburn is an old time hollywood actress, and then i read about what 1964 means and I know, in 1964 Audrey act on a movie called "My Fair Lady"
the full synopsis can be read here imdb.com/title/tt0058385/synopsis

this is the most beautiful song on the CD, in my opinion ♥ I love the reference to Audrey Hepburn (: in the version by seagull orchestra (which i like better than this version, probably just because i heard the other version first a long time ago and memorized all of those lyrics) says "steal your statue back and we'll fall in love" instead of "sometimes i can see your face in the crowd". "steal your statue back and we'll fall in love" is refering to one of Adam Young's favorite movies, How To Steal A Million, starring Audrey Hepburn. The movie involves Audrey's character trying to steal a forged statue back from the museum in which her father had sold it to; hence the phrase. It's a really great movie, i have it on VHS (: ♥

@nsnandowlcity04 Oh I love that movie too!
This is my second favorite song after Flowers of the Field. It's Awesome!!
Wat? Audrey hepburn=>acttress=>my fair lady! I never knew dat=>
"sailboats wish that they were stars" when adam young sings thing i have a feeling he saying Normal people want to be celebrities. It also might have something to do with people being jealous of each other.
Such a beautiful song. It instantly calms me. I love the last two lines and its a perfect ending with the mixture of two voices.
This song gave Sky Sailing its name I think.
This is one of my favourite songs in the World, literally. Where do i start? Beautiful lyrics, dreamy music, enchanting beat and sound effects. Whoa <3 I just love everything about this song, it's perfect. And the main lyric, "Sailboats wish that they were stars", I just get these images in my head of glowing boats drifting through the sky. Oh, so beautiful.
This song was originally done under the alias Seagull Orchestra. And that version is actually a bit better in my opinion.
@Amasterd20 probably because that's a raw, unedited version. There's something about his voice that's so soothing.
There's something about Adam Young's voice. It's amazing that up until 2016 I had only heard Fireflies and Vanilla Twilight and on a European tour one of my mates played a song from Sky Sailing and I loved it so I shazamed it and from there I discovered a whole world fill of Owl City and Sky Sailng and only yesterday I discovered Windsor Airlift, Apes with guns, Seagull Orchestra, insect Airport, Port Blue and Swimming with Dolphins. I've become the biggest fan of Adam Young.

Sailboats Sky Sailing Lyrics
The lyrics of ‘Sailboats’ by Sky Sailing evoke a sense of longing for freedom and escape from the earthly boundaries that constrain us. This song is a whimsical daydream about the beauty and wonder of nature, imagining sailboats floating like stars in the sky among the clouds and continents. The lyrics suggest that the view from above is brighter and more enchanting than from the Earth's surface, and the dreamer yearns to be taken up into the sky and soar above the frozen peaks, deep in cold cathedral caves and far beyond the waves. Perhaps most poignantly, the song also shows how fleeting our existence is, with dreams and people passing like ships in the night, easily forgotten.
Sailboats wish that they were stars, Sailboats long to be like stars, shining and glimmering in the sky.
Floating softly in the sky Moving gently through the atmosphere.
Among our dreams that pay goodbye Appearing and then disappearing like our fleeting dreams.
Moving through transparent space, Sailing through the clear, open atmosphere.
Drifting through the stratosphere Sailboats are carried along by the winds as they float high in the sky.
And onward 'till they disappear Continuing to glide through the air until they eventually disappear out of sight.
These continents from overhead Viewing the continents from high above.
Look like tiny paper shapes The continents look like small, two-dimensional pieces of paper from so high up.
Intricately set in place Placed with precision and complexity.
Below the misty mountain clouds Sailboats cruise underneath the clouds, near the mountains where it's often misty.
There's a lovely silver bay A beautiful, shining bay that reflects the silver light of the sun.
Where sunset sailors often hideaway A peaceful, secluded spot where sailors rest and watch the beautiful sunset.
Scuba diver in the lock, A scuba diver in a place where boats lock in a canal to travel up or down water levels.
Speedboat driver on the dock A boat driver dropping off passengers at the dock.
Sailplane pilot in the blue take me up there with you The singer would like to join the pilot of a plane that can sail on wind currents.
The world looks brighter from this high altitude Looking at the world from high up in the sky brings clarity and brightness.
I was walking through the trees (Sailboats wish they were stars) The artist was taking a walk, while sailboats long to be like stars in the sky.
And I was swimming through the seas (Cause they don't know who they are) The singer swam through the sea while sailboats don't know who they are because they are inanimate objects.
I was falling through the air The singer was in the middle of a free fall.
When it hit me right there Suddenly, an idea or realization came to the artist.
My eyes are tired; I don't even care The artist is too tired to be concerned about anything.
An airplane carried me to bed, The artist fell asleep on an airplane.
Where I slept above the coast The singer slept while above the coastal area.
And dreamt I had become a ghost In the dream, the artist was a ghost.
I sail above the frozen peaks, The singer sails above tall, icy mountains.
Deep in cold cathedral caves Flying through deep caves that look like cathedrals.
Across the hills and far beyond the waves Traveling across hills and far out into the ocean.
Take the car on the run Quickly take the car and leave.
Fly the jet to the sun Flying a jet straight towards the sun.
And bring the spacecraft Bringing a spaceship along.
'n soon while I play chess with the moon Playing a game of chess with the moon soon after taking off into space.
I feel like sleeping through this cold afternoon The artist feels like taking a nap on a cold afternoon.
Once in 1964 (Sailboats wish they were stars) In 1964, sailboats longed to be stars in the sky.
An actress ran on the shore (Cause they don't know who they are) An actress ran on the beach, while sailboats don't know who they are since they are inanimate objects.
And though you'll never return, Even though someone will never come back.
I love you Audrey Hepburn The artist loves Audrey Hepburn, an actress.
Sometimes I can see your face in the crowd The singer sometimes thinks they see Audrey Hepburn's face in a group of people.
There are sailboats throughout this brilliant sky The sky is filled with sailboats, making it look spectacular.
But you cannot pick them out if you can't fly You won't be able to identify them as sailboats unless you can fly to see them from above.
I'm glad the Earth doesn't care The artist is pleased that the Earth isn't concerned about them.
If I go up there If the artist flies up into the sky.
If you want to just ask me and I will take you along If someone wants to go along, they can ask the singer and they will be taken on the journey.

Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital
There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.
How to find the right boat?
There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.
Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.
This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.
Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such option offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).
If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.
Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.
How to buy tickets?
Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.
“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!” wrote (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.
Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.
Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.
Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.
Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as this offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.
This website (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other website sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.
Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.
“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.
There are two main boarding piers in the city center: Hotel Ukraine and Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.
Where to sit onboard?
Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.
The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.
Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.
There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.

Nasa next-generation solar sail boom technology ready for launch.
Tara Friesen
Nasa’s new lightweight sailor , enabling future solar sails.
Sailing through space might sound like something out of science fiction, but the concept is no longer limited to books or the big screen. In April, a next-generation solar sail technology – known as the Advanced Composite Solar Sail System – will launch aboard Rocket Lab’s Electron rocket from the company’s Launch Complex 1 in Māhia, New Zealand. The technology could advance future space travel and expand our understanding of our Sun and solar system.
Solar sails use the pressure of sunlight for propulsion, angling toward or away from the Sun so that photons bounce off the reflective sail to push a spacecraft. This eliminates heavy propulsion systems and could enable longer duration and lower-cost missions. Although mass is reduced, solar sails have been limited by the material and structure of the booms, which act much like a sailboat’s mast. But NASA is about to change the sailing game for the future.
The Advanced Composite Solar Sail System demonstration uses a twelve-unit (12U) CubeSat built by NanoAvionics to test a new composite boom made from flexible polymer and carbon fiber materials that are stiffer and lighter than previous boom designs. The mission’s primary objective is to successfully demonstrate new boom deployment, but once deployed, the team also hopes to prove the sail’s performance.
Like a sailboat turning to capture the wind, the solar sail can adjust its orbit by angling its sail. After evaluating the boom deployment, the mission will test a series of maneuvers to change the spacecraft’s orbit and gather data for potential future missions with even larger sails.
“Booms have tended to be either heavy and metallic or made of lightweight composite with a bulky design – neither of which work well for today’s small spacecraft. Solar sails need very large, stable, and lightweight booms that can fold down compactly,” said Keats Wilkie, the mission’s principal investigator at NASA’s Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia. “This sail’s booms are tube-shaped and can be squashed flat and rolled like a tape measure into a small package while offering all the advantages of composite materials, like less bending and flexing during temperature changes.”
After reaching its Sun-synchronous orbit, about 600 miles (1,000 kilometers) above Earth, the spacecraft will begin unrolling its composite booms, which span the diagonals of the polymer sail. After approximately 25 minutes the solar sail will fully deploy, measuring about 860 square feet (80 square meters) – about the size of six parking spots. Spacecraft-mounted cameras will capture the sail’s big moment, monitoring its shape and symmetry during deployment.
With its large sail, the spacecraft may be visible from Earth if the lighting conditions are just right. Once fully expanded and at the proper orientation, the sail’s reflective material will be as bright as Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky.
“Seven meters of the deployable booms can roll up into a shape that fits in your hand,” said Alan Rhodes, the mission’s lead systems engineer at NASA’s Ames Research Center in California’s Silicon Valley. “The hope is that the new technologies verified on this spacecraft will inspire others to use them in ways we haven’t even considered.”
Through NASA’s Small Spacecraft Technology program , successful deployment and operation of the solar sail’s lightweight composite booms will prove the capability and open the door to larger scale missions to the Moon, Mars, and beyond.
This boom design could potentially support future solar sails as large as 5,400 square feet (500 square meters), about the size of a basketball court, and technology resulting from the mission’s success could support sails of up to 21,500 square feet (2,000 square meters) – about half a soccer field.
“The Sun will continue burning for billions of years, so we have a limitless source of propulsion. Instead of launching massive fuel tanks for future missions, we can launch larger sails that use “fuel” already available,” said Rhodes. “We will demonstrate a system that uses this abundant resource to take those next giant steps in exploration and science.”
Because the sails use the power of the Sun, they can provide constant thrust to support missions that require unique vantage points, such as those that seek to understand our Sun and its impact on Earth. Solar sails have long been a desired capability for missions that could carry early warning systems for monitoring solar weather. Solar storms and coronal mass ejections can cause considerable damage on Earth, overloading power grids, disrupting radio communications, and affecting aircraft and spacecraft.
Composite booms might also have a future beyond solar sailing: the lightweight design and compact packing system could make them the perfect material for constructing habitats on the Moon and Mars, acting as framing structures for buildings or compact antenna poles to create a communications relay for astronauts exploring the lunar surface.
“This technology sparks the imagination, reimagining the whole idea of sailing and applying it to space travel,” said Rudy Aquilina, project manager of the solar sail mission at NASA Ames. “Demonstrating the abilities of solar sails and lightweight, composite booms is the next step in using this technology to inspire future missions.”
NASA Ames manages the Advanced Composite Solar Sail System project and designed and built the onboard camera diagnostic system. NASA Langley designed and built the deployable composite booms and solar sail system. NASA’s Small Spacecraft Technology (SST) program office based at NASA Ames and led by the agency’s Space Technology Mission Directorate (STMD), funds and manages the mission. NASA STMD’s Game Changing Development program developed the deployable composite boom technology. Rocket Lab USA, Inc of Long Beach, California is providing launch services. NanoAvionics is providing the spacecraft bus.

Paris 2024 Olympics: Everything you need to know as flame lighting ceremony starts final countdown to Games
Paris will host the Olympics and Paralympics this summer, with thousands of athletes and millions of tourists expected to descend on the French capital. Here's everything you need to know - from the grand plans for the opening ceremony to whether bedbugs are still an issue.
News reporter @jos_franks
Tuesday 16 April 2024 16:55, UK
The countdown to the Paris 2024 Olympics is on.
The Olympic torch was lit in an official ceremony in ancient Olympia on Tuesday, the start of a relay across Greece and France that will end in Paris for the start of the Games on 26 July.
The Olympics will take place from 26 July to 11 August and the Paralympics will run from 28 August to 8 September.
Consider this your ultimate guide to the Games - everything you need to know, updated as the opening ceremony approaches.
What happens when the torch is lit?
The torch was lit at the spot originally used for the Olympic Games by the ancient Greeks before being passed to the first torchbearer.
There began an 11-day relay in Greece before the torch travels to France on board a three-masted ship, the Belem.
The French leg of the relay begins in Marseille, where the sailing competitions will be hosted.
A total of 10,000 torchbearers will carry the flame across the 64 territories of France on its way to the capital city, where the torch will light the Olympic flame, officially starting the Games.
What is planned for the opening ceremony?
The plan has been billed as "an opening ceremony like no other": 10,500 athletes, 160 boats, a 3.7-mile route along the River Seine.
It is expected 1 billion people will watch the event around the world and 326,000 will be there in person - a downsizing of the planned 600,000 on security grounds.
The 26 July event is set to be the first Olympic opening ceremony held outside a stadium setting.
The parade will end at the Trocadero square, facing the Eiffel Tower.
However, the best laid of plans may be upset by security threats.
President Emmanuel Macron has admitted the ceremony could be scaled down if the security threat is deemed too high.
There are "plan Bs, and even plan Cs", the French leader said. That could look like confining the event to the Trocadero - scrapping the river parade - or moving it indoors to the Stade de France.
Problems with the Seine
The opening ceremony isn't the only Seine-related headache France is dealing with.
The triathlon could be delayed , or the swimming leg cancelled altogether, due to poor water quality levels.
Heavy rain could raise levels of E. coli in the water, making it unsafe to swim.
The Surfrider Foundation Europe charity warned in April that samples from the Seine showed dangerous levels of bacteria in the water.
After finding evidence of E. coli, enterococci, intestinal bacteria and "formidable indicators of pollution of faecal origin", the charity said athletes swimming in the water will be "taking significant risks to their health".
Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo and Mr Macron have promised to take a dip in the river before the start of the Games to demonstrate it is safe.
The new sport at the Games
Breaking - also known as breakdancing - will make its debut as an Olympic sport in Paris.
Breaking athletes are known as B-Boys and B-Girls. The competition will feature 16 B-Boys and 16 B-Girls who will face off one on one.
They will be judged on five categories: musicality, vocabulary, originality, technique and execution.
Breaking joins other recently established "urban" sports including skateboarding, surfing, sport climbing and BMXing.
Games in a time of war
Russian and Belarusian athletes will be allowed to compete despite the ongoing war in Ukraine - but they will do so as neutral athletes.
That means they will not not be allowed to parade in the opening ceremony and will not have their national anthems played, or their national flags raised, if they win medals.
This decision from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has angered Moscow.
Mr Macron has also said Russia would be asked to observe a ceasefire in Ukraine during the Games.
Suspending armed conflicts under an Olympic truce during the Games was a standard practice in ancient Greece.
However, the Kremlin said Ukraine might use a ceasefire as an opportunity to regroup and rearm.
Some Palestinian activists and a group of 26 French politicians called for Israel to be banned from the Games over the war in Gaza, but the IOC said it had no plans to sanction Israel.
How is Paris preparing for the Games?
Seine-Saint-Denis, in the northeast of the capital, is the home of the Olympic Village , which will house 9,000 athletes.
The size of 70 football pitches, the village is split by the River Seine with a bridge to link the accommodation blocks.
After the Games, the village will be turned into homes for 6,000 people and offices for 6,000 workers.
More than half of the structures being built or renovated for the Games are in Seine-Saint-Denis, mainland France's poorest region.
While it's hoped the Games will leave a legacy of new and refurbished sports infrastructure in the suburb, dozens of squats were cleared in 2023 in what advocates said appeared to be a policy aimed at beautifying the area.

Transport preparations are also under scrutiny. The price of metro tickets will almost double during the Games, from €2.10 (£1.80) to €4 (£3.40).
The city's mayor Anne Hidalgo and the region's president Valerie Pecresse have been at odds over whether the capital's transport system will be ready for the influx of tourists.
Ms Pecresse - whose regional council is in charge of transport - said the price hike would cover the "dramatic" increase in transport, while the mayor has said there won't be enough trains.
Ms Hidalgo also said the situation for the city's homeless was another major issue.
"I don't want to take them out and hide them (during the Olympics). There should be a social legacy," she said.
France was accused of trying to "hide poverty" ahead of the Games, with police reportedly evicting homeless people from makeshift camps.
A shanty town next to Bordeaux's football stadium was also cleared according to the report by a collection of charities, which said cities were being subject to "social cleansing". French authorities denied the accusations.
Will Notre-Dame reopen in time for the Games?
In a city of landmarks, Notre-Dame is one of the most famous, the cathedral's twin bell towers rising above the Seine.
It has been closed to the public for five years after a devastating fire ripped through the building , toppling the spire.
President Macron declared after the April 2019 blaze that he would rebuild the church within five years - a pledge many treated with scepticism.
While the cathedral will not be open to the public in time for the Olympics - the reopening is scheduled for December - the scaffolding has now been removed to reveal the new spire.
What about bedbugs?
Last autumn, Paris was in the grip of a bedbug crisis - although experts said the problem was just as bad in London .
Emmanuel Gregoire, first deputy mayor of Paris, called on Prime Minister Elizabeth Borne to act on the "scourge" before the Olympics.
"Bed bugs are a public health problem and should be reported as such," he wrote to her.
"The state must urgently bring together all concerned in order to enact an action plan appropriate with this scourge as all of France prepares to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2024."
After the initial panic, authorities said there was no trace of any unusual outbreak.
In March, a French minister claimed the bedbug scare was artificially amplified by social media accounts linked to Russian "disinformation" activities.
