Lil Yachty is the stage name of American rapper, singer and songwriter Miles Parks McCollum. He is known best for the singles “Minnesota” and “One Night”, which helped him gain prominence in the music industry.
Due to the popularity of the above-named songs and the subsequent success of his first commercial mixtape “Lil Boat” (released in March 2016), he partnered with Motown Records, Capitol Records and Quality Control Music in a joint venture recording contract in June 2016.
In April 2016, he appeared as a featured artist on the hit DRAM song “Broccoli”.

The rap star grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. His mother’s name is Venita McCollum.
Achievements
“Broccoli” earned Yachty his first Grammy Award nomination for “Best Rap/Sung Collaboration” in 2017. His singles “Peek a Boo” and “Minnesota” have received Gold certifications from the Recording Industry Association of America while “One Night” has been certified platinum.
Collaborations
Yachty has teamed up musical projects involving numerous well-known artistes. Some of such collaborations include appearing alongside Kehlani on Calvin Harris ’ 2017 song, "Faking It". Prior to that, he worked with English singer, Charli XCX on her 2016 release "After the Afterparty".
Legal Issues
In 2015, the rapper was arrested together with another man for their alleged involvement in credit card fraud.
He featured Migos on his single “Peek a Boo”.
The rapper appeared alongside basketball legend, LeBron James in a commercial for popular soft drink brand, Sprite.
He dropped out of Alabama State University in order to pursue a career in music.
