CMN Yacht Division is a luxury superyacht builder based in France. In building their custom superyachts CMN combines many disciplines in steel and aluminium construction, mechanical engineering including sophisticated engine room systems through state-of-the-art electrical installations, with JMV Industries specialising in sophisticated composite construction.

All the engineering facilities combine on a single shipyard site with other production skills such as teak decking and brightwork. This integration delivers a ‘one-stop-shop’ facility. The Cherbourg site offers a turn-key facility that can provide a full engineering package from the hull, deck and superstructure to the propulsion and systems fit out. Working with interior fit out specialists, naval architects and interior designers, the final superyacht package from CMN rivals other major yacht builder in the world today.

CMN Yachts have a heritage that dates back to 1912 when Felix Amiot aircraft put Normandy on the aeronautical stage. Then in the sixties that CMN brought their knowledge of leading edge technology to the yachting industry with the construction of serials of Maïca, an 11-metre sailing yacht designed by Illingworth and Primrose.

In the 1970’s and 1980’s, among other projects for famous Yacht skippers, CMN launched Paul Ricard for Eric Tabarly and Kriter IV for Olivier de Kersauzon.

The aluminium ice-breaking exploration sailing yacht Antarctica, built in 1989, again illustrates the innovative approach found at CMN. This unique exploration ship was used as a support vessel for the Transamerica Expedition end the Erebus expedition.

With the luxury yacht market expending into larger and larger yachts in the nineties, CMN YACHT DIVISION undertook projects over 140’ such as the schooner Friday Star or the Expedition yacht French Look II. The new millennium saw CMN Yachts launching larger motor yachts like Bermie II and Héloval, and sailing yachts such as Attimo and Lady Barbaretta.

Today, with three 197'/60m motor yachts in production, CMN YACHT DIVISION is becoming a powerful new bench mark in luxury yacht building.

Three dimensional vessels studies and extensive computer design are carried out in-house.

At the heart of CMN lies probably the most sophisticated computer wizardry, the CIRCE-CATIA computer software that is capable of working with all major challenges from naval architecture, design, spatial layout, finite element analysis to engineering and fabrication of even the smallest component.

The CATIA software also used in aeronautics or industry is a powerful tool able to integrate complex systems resulting in optimised internal space.

Motor Yachts produced by CMN includes the following:

M/Y Heloval At 43m (140'), ‘Heloval’ was the result of a brief from the client for CMN to submit a complete package for a luxurious charter yacht.

M/Y Bermie II The owners desire to complete a new 49m (160'7") charter yacht on record time brought together the talents of The ‘A’ Group in.

M/Y Netanya 8 This Motor Yacht is a result of a fruitful cooperation between CMN Yacht Division and Andrew Winch Designs.

M/Y Slipstream

SLIPSTREAM is a 2008 CMN (France) built luxury motor yacht with naval architecture by CMN Constructions Mecaniques de Normandie (CMN). She represents the finest in luxury and style and is one of the significant charter yachts to be launched in 2008. The exterior design, arrangement planning and interior design is by Andrew Winch Designs. SLIPSTREAM is a superyacht with a vast interior volume comprises an enormous master cabin with observation area and a VIP cabin on the bridge deck with private balcony, while the sun deck also has impressive proportions.

Project 802 A new build 60m sistership order has been placed with CMN by bringing the total number of this series.

140 ' / 43 m MotorYacht This Motor Yacht is an evolution of Heloval designed to cruise in the Mediterranean and Caribbean seas.

Sailing Yachts

Sailing Yachts produced by CMN includes the 32m (105’) sailing catamaran ‘Lady Barbaretta’ and 42,60m ‘Mari-Cha IV’ (140ft) record breaking monohull that won the coveted trans-Atlantic record New-York-Cape Lizard at 19.50 knots in 2003 and also won the Transatlantic Rolex Challenge in 2005.

Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital

There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.

How to find the right boat?

There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.

Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.

This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.

Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such  option  offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).

If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.

Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.

How to buy tickets?

Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.

“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!”  wrote  (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.

Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.

Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.

Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.

Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as  this   offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.

This  website  (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other  website  sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.

Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.

“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.

There are two main boarding piers in the city center:  Hotel Ukraine  and  Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.

Where to sit onboard?

Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.

The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.

Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.

There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.

Two stabbed, man slammed with a bottle in Brooklyn party boat melee; suspects sought

An investigation was underway Sunday in New York after two people were stabbed and one was bashed with a bottle in a melee at a party yacht docked at a Brooklyn pier, authorities said.

Officers responding to a 911 call Saturday evening found a 32-year-old man who had been stabbed in the torso, a 40-year-old man with multiple stab wounds and a 28-year-old man who had been hit in the head with a bottle, police said Sunday in a statement provided to USA TODAY. The three were hospitalized in stable condition. No arrests had been made, the statement said.

Social media video from the scene showed chaos as at least eight people, including at least two women, wrestled and punched each other on the pier. One man appeared to stomp on the leg of a woman on the ground. A security guard helps break up the fight, and people are shown carrying a wounded person to an ambulance.

Police evacuated the Cornucopia Majesty, a luxury yacht with a capacity of 1,200 people docked at Brookly Army Terminal. Manhattan Yacht Charters said on its website the ship cruises New York City Harbor "in luxury and style" and allows passengers to "take in the sights on the East River and Hudson River, enjoying all that New York has to offer."

Kevaun Whitely, 27, who lives in Brooklyn, told the New York Times the fight broke out as a large crowd of rowdy partygoers − many of whom had been drinking alcohol − attempted to exit the yacht through the same door.

“It was like a stampede,” Whitely said.

BYFAR Entertainment, which hosted the event, posted  a statement on social media .

“Unfortunately, a crime scene developed by the pier, which has caused the postponement of the night event,” the statement said. “We will have updates on a later date so just hold on tight with us while we sort everything out. BYFAR Entertainment has always been a beacon of safe events in New York City and this rare occurrence has never been the norm with us.”
