As the name suggests an aluminium sailing boat is one constructed from aluminium (also know as aluminum in the United States). Aluminium is a stronger metal than the same weight of steel, so aluminium boats can be lighter in weight whilst still being strong, which is an advantage for sailing boats, especially those used for racing where lower weight equals more speed. There are a few disadvantages too though, for example, aluminium does corrode, and more so in saltwater, so aluminium boats need repainting every couple of years and you will need a sacrificial anode.

Selling my 1989 24' Skater cat. Comes with custom built 2014 Allstar Aluminum Trailer with torsion axles, brakes, custom wheels, and all LED lights. Trailer has a 5 year warranty. Motors were rebuilt at Diamond Marine last year with new top pinned Pistons, rings, beatings, custom tuners and porting, and the ECU was flashed to ROS specs by Simon Motorsports. Engines had 130-140 original hours prior to rebuilds and have approximately 20 hours now. Very clean engines and boat! 4 JL Audio 8.8's and two 10" JL subs, JL Amps, all installed by JL Audio Factory Employee. Full Sunbrella cover with suede on inside, Livorsi gauges and Livorsi throttles, LED nav lights. Blue led lights in the cockpit and white in the bilge. Racing hatch in the rear can hold a large cooler out of the way of passengers. Sportmaster lower units 20" and offshore midsections. Cleaver 3 blade props recently balanced and polished by Frank and Jimmie's in Fort Lauderdale. Latham steering with dual rams and wing plates. Boat has the throttles in the center so you can drive it using two people or just one. Trim switches wired to both sides for driver and throttleman. Boat has a tunnel tab that also has switches wored to both sides. Comes turn-key with props, hubs, etc. and will run 110mph as it sits. With more setup you could probably see 117-120mph. I have only run Aviation Fuel/Recreational (Non-Ethanol) fuel in this boat, so there are no Ethanol issues whatsoever. Boat has two fuel tanks, one on each side that hold approx 50 gallons each. If you don't know the history of Skater boats, check them out on YouTube or Google. These are world champion offshore powerboats, and this size (24ft) hasn't been made since the 90's so they are hard to come by. The engines were rebuilt by the best on the business (Marty and Joe Signorelli) and they are the only ones that have ever cracked them open. The engines started their life in freshwater and over the course of 14 years only had 140hrs put on them. These are pure race engines built to run at high rpm's for long distances, and these are also no longer produced by Mercury Marine so a nice pair like these are very rare. Overview: The fuel efficient all weather Tomcat 255 features Diamond Sea Glaze windows and doors like you find on the ocean going yachts! Whether you are cruising, fishing or diving with over 45 Square feet of cockpit space there is room to roam. The Tomcat 255 rides and corners smoothly without any roll. It tracks straight at all speeds and runs flat and dry. Widely spaced twin engines provide maneuverability around the dock and peace of mind when out on the water. The railings are all made of the highest grade 316 stainless steel and are oversized for extra strength and safety! Four foot insulated fish boxes with macerators provide plenty of room for the days catch. They also serve well as additional cockpit storage. Features: Employing a modified "V" asymmetrical shaped bottom with broad hard chines on it’s pontoons. The design of the TomCat 255 hull does away with the tendency to lean outward in hard turns and the wallow feeling that some cats exhibit at speed. Other advantages to this design include a reduced bow wake and a reduction in the amount of spray ejected out of the tunnel (sneezing) when driving into large waves. You always have a flat, stable, dry ride with the TomCat 255. Quick and nimble with the stability and ride of a much larger vessel. The TomCat 255 lifts up on plane quickly with very little change in attitude. On step the hull runs clean and dry with its limited bow spray being deflected by hard chines that run all the way forward. In a turn, wash along the sides is deflected by a step in the hull a few inches above the water line. The TomCat 255 runs dry, even in a very hard turn. Stability as one might expect is superb. Even in hard turns at 30+ Knots the boat cuts a clean flat turn with no feeling of slip or complaint from the hull or props. The spacious all weather cabin provides a Queen size plus berth in the bow, (84"X64"). A dinette on the port side with a convertible forward facing seat, that makes into a roomy single berth. A full featured galley complete with hot and cold water and two burner stove. An enclosed head is located on the starboard side just aft of the galley with a Marine head and hot and cold shower. The cabin provides seating for four with 360 degree visibility out the windows at all speeds. The aft deck boasts over 45 square feet of cockpit space and is self bailing. ACI Boats is thrilled to announce the official award of a $3 million dollar contract with American Samoa’s Departmant of Commerce for four “Super Alia” commercial fishing vessels. All four boats will be manufactured at ACI Boats’ facility in Port Townsend, WA. The vessels themselves will be 38’x14’ semi-displacement catamarans, designed by ACI Boats and Coastwise Marine Design. The first of the four vessels, to be completed in Fall/Winter 2022, will be used as a training platform for boat owners, captains, and deckhands. The following three boats, will be completed over the course of 18 months and will then be available for lease by the American Samoa Dept. of Commerce, intended to support the growth and safety of the local fishing fleet.

Alaskan Aluminum Power Catamarans specializes in the design and building of aluminum, hydrofoil assist, outboard powered catamarans; producing a welded aluminum boat specifically designed for operating in our rugged Alaskan environment. Each of our boats is influenced by a lifetime Alaskan resident who has spent most of his life both commercially fishing and sport fish guiding around Kodiak. They are designed by an accomplished naval architect specializing in hydrofoil assist catamarans, and each boat is built here in Alaska by a team well versed in fabricating within Alaska’s Commercial Fishing and Sport Boating industry.

The catamaran-style hull is well known for its stability, extra width, and fuel efficiency. However, the asymmetrical hulls on our boats recognize that the water inside a catamaran’s tunnel is different from the water displaced on the outboard sides of the boat when underway. This design helps to further improve on the catamaran idea; preparing for and mitigating chop entering the tunnel for a smoother ride at speed, as well as minimizing drag, increasing fuel efficiency, and range.

Our hydrofoil further improves that catamaran concept and acts like an airplane wing securely fixed between the hulls, providing several inches of lift to the entire boat on plane. Lifting the boat reduces the wetted surface, thereby reducing drag, increasing fuel efficiency, speed, and range. Lifting the boat also increases the distance between the water’s surface and tunnel, further softening and improving the ride in chop. Our hydrofoils are designed and placed to maximize lift at practical cruising speeds and anticipate a variety of load conditions.

Cabin and deck layout are easily customizable and easily tailored to suit your specific tastes and goals for your vessel. Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital

There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.

How to find the right boat?

There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.

Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.

This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.

Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such  option  offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).

If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.

Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.

How to buy tickets?

Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.

“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!”  wrote  (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.

Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.

Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.

Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.

Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as  this   offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.

This  website  (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other  website  sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.

Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.

“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.

There are two main boarding piers in the city center:  Hotel Ukraine  and  Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.

Where to sit onboard?

Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.

The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.

Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.

There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.

Where to Buy a Home in Moscow in 2024

The growth in suburban house prices in 2021 can be as high as 15%. This prognosis was voiced by the participants of Moscow’s real estate market. Housing near Moscow has already gone up in value by 7%, and before the end of the year, this number is quite likely to rise by another 2–3%. The pandemic has changed the trends on the suburban real estate market – the current demand for detached houses is noticeably higher than before the global outbreak of Covid-19, and this naturally influences the cost of residential homes, say the experts. They also note that traditionally, the fall-winter period has always been considered a time of low demand for houses for sale in Russia; however, the opposite is now the case.

Here are the Moscow real estate categories to consider when buying a house in Russia:

• By direction and location (Rublyovka, Novaya Riga, Barvikha);
• By classification ( luxury , business class, economy);
• By development format (townhouses, detached private homes).

When purchasing homes in Moscow, Russia, a good rule of thumb is to select houses within an 18.6-mile (30 km) radius from the center of Moscow. This ensures you will get a well-developed infrastructure, and that the chosen location will be replete with hospitals and schools.

We recommend considering the West, South and North directions just out of Moscow. You may notice that country houses are noticeably cheaper on the capital’s Eastern side. However, this is due to poor environmental conditions – the result of the presence of a number of industrial facilities in the entire East area.

Best Cottage Communities in Moscow

Muscovites with high incomes live in closed elite cottage communities that have their own full infrastructure. Such cottage communities are usually designed by Europe’s best architects, especially contracted for the job. These locations have everything: private English schools, restaurants, shops, pools and gyms, beauty salons and equestrian sports clubs.

The most expensive houses up for sale are located in the Barvikha Hills area (Rublevka direction). This elite location near Moscow even has its own famous brand boutiques: Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino, Rolex, Patek Philippe, Bentley, Ferrari and Harley-Davidson. The least expensive house here costs 1.5 million US dollars and has a floor area of 656 sqft (200 m²). This gated community is just 10-20 minutes by car away from Moscow itself.

We encourage you to consider some of the following elite locations as you decide where to purchase your ideal property: Etude Family Club, La-Mansh, Western Residence, Yusupovo Life Park, Odintsovo, Novaya Riga and Pirogovo. There you will find everything one requires for a comfortable life, at the price of 300 to 500 thousand US dollars for a residential home.
