REGINA D’ITALIA II Yacht – Epic $14 Million Superyacht
The REGINA D’ITALIA II yacht (previously named Regina d’Italia), was custom-built in 2006 by Codecasa and delivered later that same year.
The extravagant vessel’s name, REGINA D’ITALIA II, means “Queen of Italy” in English – a name that is more than fitting for this stunning vessel.
Listed as number 836th on the ranking of the largest yachts in the world, she is the 12th largest yacht ever built by Codecasa. The REGINA D’ITALIA II yacht was last refitted and painted in 2018.
REGINA D’TALIA II yacht interior
The REGINA D’ITALIA II yacht’s elegant and detailed interior was penned by Lazzarini Pickering Architect along with the help of Stefano Gabbana .
The yacht is a reflection of the previous owner’s style – Dolce & Gabbana’s fashion design. The ‘Queen of Italy’ could be best described as a “high-fashion yacht” as she is a complete work of art.
Considered to have a minimalist style, she is styled with ruby and sapphire taps, gold veined marble floors, and gold door handles. Some of the regal furniture is dotted with leopard, mink, and crocodile skin.
The REGINA D’ITALIA II yacht can accommodate 12 guests in five staterooms, comprising one master suite, one VIP room, two double cabins, and two twin cabins. She can also carry 11 crew members in six separate cabins.
The master suite features a large dressing room and a private gym. Each of the four staterooms is named after an exotic animal and they are the rhinoceros, giraffe, elephant, and crocodile.
The REGINA D’ITALIA II yacht is equipped with a custom 167-foot inflatable water slide, jacuzzi, pool, spa, and a mesmerizing sundeck featuring lounging zones, as well as an elevator connecting the three decks altogether.
REGINA D’ITALIA II yacht exterior
The REGINA D’ITALIA II yacht features an exterior design by Franco & Anna Della Role and she has a brassy steel hull, an aluminum superstructure, and a high-quality teak wooden deck.
The “Queen” provides a lot of open space and alfresco dining zones across her three deck areas.
She is equipped with a zero-speed stabilization system, reducing any rolling motion while at anchor and maximizing onboard comfort.
REGINA D’ITALIA II yacht specifications
Built to comply with MCA standards, the REGINA D’ITALIA II has a length of 51.0m, a beam of 9.5m, and a draft of 3.3m.
Powered by twin Caterpillar diesel engines (2,447HP), she cruises at 15 knots and can reach a maximum speed of 17.5 knots with a range of 4,600 nautical miles.
She can carry 19,000 liters of water and has a fuel capacity of 120,000 liters.
REGINA D’ITALIA II yacht owners
The REGINA D’ITALIA II was custom-built by fashion industry icons Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana.
They founded the renowned Italian luxury fashion house Dolce & Gabbana (D&G) in 1985 in Legnano. The former couple met in 1982 while they were both working for Giorgio Correggiari.
Thirteen years after owning the REGINA D’ITALIA, the designers decided to sell her to an anonymous buyer.
The real cost of the yacht is unknown, however, she was sold via Edmonton and Torrance Yachts in 2019.
The REGINA D’ITALIA II was first asking for €18 million but then reduced the asking price to €13.5 million.
Earlier this year, Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker were spotted on the prestigious REGINA D’ITALIA yacht off the coast of Portofino in Italy.

Over-The-Top Celebrity-Owned Yachts
Being a star comes with a lot of perks, including plenty of luxurious vacations. But no getaway is more extravagant than those taken on a private yacht. To escape the stresses of their daily lives, these rich and famous figures shelled out for their own mega-vessels, which come equipped with everything from pools to gyms to movie theaters. Here’s a closer look at some of the biggest and most impressive yachts owned by celebrities.
Steve Jobs — Venus , $100 Million
Venus was built specifically for the Apple founder, although it sadly wasn’t completed until a year after his death in 2011. The sleek superyacht, which remains under the ownership of the Jobs’ family, is 257 feet long and boasts an innovative glass-covered exterior design. As seen in photos shared with Boat International in 2015, the bridge of the vessel is outfitted with seven 27-inch iMacs.
Roberto Cavalli — Roberto Cavalli , $14 Million
Italian fashion designer Roberto Cavalli enjoys cruising around in his eponymous boat, which is recognizable for its bold, colorful exterior. The yacht is reportedly coated in color-changing paint that includes a range of green, purple, blue and gold hues.
“Many people ask me, ‘Which color is your boat?’ Honestly, I don’t know because it depends on what time. In the morning, it’s a dark blue, and sometimes it’s even gold.” Cavalli said of the design, per Racked .
Domenico Dolce And Stefano Gabbana — Regina D’Italia , $60 Million
Designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, known as the duo behind Dolce & Gabbana, own a yacht named Regina D’Italia , which reportedly houses around 12 guests. According to Racked , the boat boasts lavish details throughout the interior, including gold-veined marble floors, gold bathroom taps studded with sapphires and rubies and leopard-skin throws. But perhaps the coolest feature? A giant, custom-built, inflatable slide.
Giorgio Armani — Main , $60 Million
Giorgio Armani shelled out more than $60 million to build his 213-foot yacht, Main . It reportedly took 30 months to build the vessel at Italy’s Codecasa Shipyards.
“The costs [of upkeep] are extraordinary,” the designer told Harper’s Bazaar in 2010. “When you decide to have a boat like this, a thousand euros is nothing. It’s a drop in the bucket.”
Johnny Depp — Vajoliroja / Amphitrite , $30 Million
The Vajoliroja once belonged to Johnny Depp. The yacht got its unique moniker by blending his name with those of his former girlfriend Vanessa Paradis and their two children Lily-Rose and Jack. The 156-foot-long yacht, which has a state of the art communications and entertainment system, was later renamed Amphitrite .
J.K. Rowling — Amphitrite , $30 Million
J.K. Rowling bought the Amphitrite , previously owned by Depp, in 2016. According to The Telegraph , she was entranced by the vessel when she and her family chartered it for a trip. But she apparently had a change of heart shortly after, putting it up for sale less than a year later.
Paul Allen — Octopus , $200 Million
Late Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen shelled out about $200 million to build this 414-foot yacht, Octopus . The boat boasts some amazing amenities, including a glass-bottom pool, two helicopters, a movie theater and a basketball court. It also consists of 41 suites that accommodate over two dozen guests.
David Geffen — Rising Sun , $400 Million
Record executive, film producer and DreamWorks co-founder David Geffen owns the impressive superyacht Rising Sun , which is one of the largest in the world. The boat reportedly cost over $200 million to build. It also boasts 82 rooms, including a movie theater and a basketball court.
Shaquille O’Neal — Free Throw , $1.7 Million
This yacht’s name is quite appropriate considering its owner. The name of the yacht came from his son, Shareef, who gave it name so that his father would “never sink it”. A clever jab at how O’Neal would rarely ever sink a basket when making a free throw while in the NBA. Shaq’s a little tight-lipped when it comes to his yacht’s commodities, but it’s certainly a beauty.
Rafael Nadal — Beethoven , $3 Million
Tennis star Rafael Nadal bought the Monte Carlo Yachts model MCY 76, and named it Beethoven , in 2016. Italian design team Nuvolari Lenard designed both the interior and exterior.
“The main saloon is totally open and not like other boats where there is a living area, then a closed galley and a separate helm position,” Nadal told Boat International . “I like the fact that I can sit in the saloon and see out the front; it makes the boat feel bigger.”
Roman Abramovich — Eclipse , $700 Million
The Russian-Israeli businessman and owner of English Premier League’s Chelsea Football Club owns the second-largest private yacht in the world . The 533-foot-long boat, named Eclipse, took five years to design, develop and construct. It boasts two helicopters pads, 24 guest cabins, two swimming pools, multiple hot tubs and a disco hall.
Tiger Woods — Privacy , $20 Million
Tiger Woods owns a $20 million, 155-foot-long luxury liner named Privacy, seen here outside one of his homes. According to Business Insider , the famous golfer bought the yacht in 2004, even spending his wedding night with ex-wife Elin Nordegren on board. The boat is big enough to sleep over a dozen people and reportedly has a theater, a gym and jacuzzi.
Larry Ellison — Musashi , $160 Million
Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison was the previous owner of David Geffen’s Rising Sun . After deciding it was too big, he sold the mammoth yacht to Geffen in 2010. He now owns the smaller, but still luxurious, 288-foot vessel Musashi .
Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum — Smeralda , $75 Million
The crown prince of Dubai, who often catalogs his life of luxury on Instagram , reportedly owns multiple yachts. One of them is Smeralda , which can accommodate over 20 guests and boasts a huge owner’s apartment on the upper deck. It’s also reportedly equipped with a huge interior beach club complete with gym and massage room, a fully customized eight-person spa and sauna and a large multi-function outdoor entertaining area that includes a “winter garden” and a pool.
Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum — Dubai , $400 Million
Speaking of the royal family of Dubai, Smeralda isn’t the only impressive vessel under its ownership. The Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates owns the third largest boat in the world , the 531-foot, Dubai . As Boat International reports, the yacht houses up to 24 guests and is comprised of a master’s suite, five VIP suites and six guest suites, all with open balconies. Other amenities include a pool, barbecue area, cinema, disco, a landing platform for a Blackhawk helicopter, a gymnasium, a garage for the yacht’s submarine and a myriad of water toys.
Eddie Lampert — Fountainhead , $130 Million
Former Sears CEO Eddie Lampert owns the 288-foot Fountainhead, the sister ship to Ellison’s Musashi. The yacht can accommodate 14 guests and a crew of 20.
Valentino Garavani — T.M. Blue One , $15 Million
The fashion designer owns the 152-foot vessel T.M. Blue One . The boat is reportedly named after the designer’s beloved parents, Teresa and Mauro. Contrary to what you’d think, the interior was not designed by Valentino, but by architect Peter Marino.
Sir Philip Green — Lionheart , $150 Million
British businessman Sir Philip Green owns the superyacht Lionheart . The 207-foot boat reportedly cost $37.5 million . It can accommodate 12 guests comfortably and also has enough cabin space for 16 crew members.
Diane Von Furstenberg — Eos , $150 Million
Diane von Furstenberg and husband Barry Diller own the 305-foot superyacht Eos . The boat is one of the largest private sailing yachts in the world and reportedly cost $150 million . The designer and her family are known to spend much of their summers on the vessel, along with their famous friends. Andy Cohen posted a photo of himself with von Furstenberg aboard the boat in 2017.

Ch. 9 The Development of Russia
Ivan i and the rise of moscow, learning objective.
- Outline the key points that helped Moscow become so powerful and how Ivan I accomplished these major victories
- Moscow was considered a small trading outpost under the principality of Vladimir-Suzdal into the 13th century.
- Power struggles and constant raids under the Mongol Empire’s Golden Horde caused once powerful cities, such as Kiev, to struggle financially and culturally.
- Ivan I utilized the relative calm and safety of the northern city of Moscow to entice a larger population and wealth to move there.
- Alliances between Golden Horde leaders and Ivan I saved Moscow from many of the raids and destruction of other centers, like Tver.
A rival city to Moscow that eventually lost favor under the Golden Horde.
Grand Prince of Vladimir
The title given to the ruler of this northern province, where Moscow was situated.
The Rise of Moscow
Moscow was only a small trading outpost in the principality of Vladimir-Suzdal in Kievan Rus’ before the invasion of Mongol forces during the 13th century. However, due to the unstable environment of the Golden Horde, and the deft leadership of Ivan I at a critical time during the 13th century, Moscow became a safe haven of prosperity during his reign. It also became the new seat of power of the Russian Orthodox Church.
Ivan I (also known as Ivan Kalita) was born around 1288 to the Prince of Moscow, Daniil Aleksandrovich. He was born during a time of devastation and upheaval in Rus’. Kiev had been overtaken by the invading Mongol forces in 1240, and most of the Rus’ principalities had been absorbed into the Golden Horde of the Mongol Empire by the time Ivan was born. He ascended to the seat of Prince of Moscow after the death of his father, and then the death of his older brother Yury.
Ivan I. He was born around 1288 and died in either 1340 or 1341, still holding the title of Grand Prince of Vladimir.
Ivan I stepped into a role that had already been expanded by his predecessors. Both his older brother and his father had captured nearby lands, including Kolomna and Mozhaisk. Yury had also made a successful alliance with the Mongol leader Uzbeg Khan and married his sister, securing more power and advantages within the hierarchy of the Golden Horde.
Ivan I continued the family tradition and petitioned the leaders of the Golden Horde to gain the seat of Grand Prince of Vladimir. His other three rivals, all princes of Tver, had previously been granted the title in prior years. However they were all subsequently deprived of the title and all three aspiring princes also eventually ended up murdered. Ivan I, on the other hand, garnered the title from Khan Muhammad Ozbeg in 1328. This new title, which he kept until his death around 1340, meant he could collect taxes from the Russian lands as a ruling prince and position his tiny city as a major player in the Vladimir region.
Moscow’s Rise
During this time of upheaval, the tiny outpost of Moscow had multiple advantages that repositioned this town and set it up for future prosperity under Ivan I. Three major contributing factors helped Ivan I relocate power to this area:
- It was situated in between other major principalities on the east and west so it was often protected from the more devastating invasions.
- This relative safety, compared to Tver and Ryazan, for example, started to bring in tax-paying citizens who wanted a safe place to build a home and earn a livelihood.
- Finally, Moscow was set up perfectly along the trade route from Novgorod to the Volga River, giving it an economic advantage from the start.
Ivan I also spurred on the growth of Moscow by actively recruiting people to move to the region. In addition, he bought the freedom of people who had been captured by the extensive Mongol raids. These recruits further bolstered the population of Moscow. Finally, he focused his attention on establishing peace and routing out thieves and raiding parties in the region, making for a safe and calm metaphorical island in a storm of unsettled political and military upsets.
Kievan Rus’ 1220-1240. This map illustrates the power dynamics at play during the 13th century shortly before Ivan I was born. Sarai, the capital of the Golden Horde, sat to the southeast, while Moscow (not visible on this map) was tucked up in the northern forests of Vladimir-Suzdal.
Ivan I knew that the peace of his region depended upon keeping up an alliance with the Golden Horde, which he did faithfully. Moscow’s increased wealth during this era also allowed him to loan money to neighboring principalities. These regions then became indebted to Moscow, bolstering its political and financial position.
In addition, a few neighboring cities and villages were subsumed into Moscow during the 1320s and 1330s, including Uglich, Belozero, and Galich. These shifts slowly transformed the tiny trading outpost into a bustling city center in the northern forests of what was once Kievan Rus’.
Russian Orthodox Church and The Center of Moscow
Ivan I committed some of Moscow’s new wealth to building a splendid city center and creating an iconic religious setting. He built stone churches in the center of Moscow with his newly gained wealth. Ivan I also tempted one of the most important religious leaders in Rus’, the Orthodox Metropolitan Peter, to the city of Moscow. Before the rule of the Golden Horde the original Russian Orthodox Church was based in Kiev. After years of devastation, Metropolitan Peter transferred the seat of power to Moscow where a new Renaissance of culture was blossoming. This perfectly timed transformation of Moscow coincided with the decades of devastation in Kiev, effectively transferring power to the north once again.
Peter of Moscow and scenes from his life as depicted in a 15th-century icon. This religious leader helped bring cultural power to Moscow by moving the seat of the Russian Orthodox Church there during Ivan I’s reign.
One of the most lasting accomplishments of Ivan I was to petition the Khan based in Sarai to designate his son, who would become Simeon the Proud, as the heir to the title of Grand Prince of Vladimir. This agreement a line of succession that meant the ruling head of Moscow would almost always hold power over the principality of Vladimir, ensuring Moscow held a powerful position for decades to come.
