No lie - when the reviews say this is a "undiscovered gem" or similar I am definitely going to agree. It's actually a bit strange - you have to buzz the door to get in. I was nervous / curious as to what was going to be on the other side... and there it is - a great restaurant. Non-members have to sign in, but that is the only formality - otherwise it's just a nice restaurant. By far the best physical feature is the outdoor patio - but it can get hot. Indoors is just as nice. Not high end, but really good food, nice people, good service, relaxed vibe. Definitely will be returning.

Had a great time here was invited by a friend because you need to be a member. I had the corn beef balboa with homemade Chip. We also had two appetizers one was plain chicken wings which you can dip into the sauce they gave you I didn't dip and they were good. Also had breaded shrimp with large french fries was really good. Sitting there on the water watching the sunset was wonderful.

This is a great spot for lunch or dinner. Relaxed vibe. Great service good prices. No frills. I had a lobster roll that was so H U G E and well cooked. The outside deck is awesome . Only suggestion is larger umbrellas. It can get hot out there

Are you kidding me?! Why is this place not packed? Food is fresh and tasty and it's easy to get to. Do yourself a favor if you're in Harbor Point and thank me later!

Hidden gem. Beautiful views of the harbor, lots of parking and great prices! Wine is about $6 a glass and the chicken wings are very good for about $8. Can't get any closer to the water than the outdoor deck. Inside is a bit dingey but you go there for the sun! Service isn't really service but who cares - I don't go out to eat for service!

False advertisement. Listed as allowing dogs and is open. I took a cab to get there. Not only they said dogs not allowed but also the business was closed. Also this place is exclusively for club members. I could see that the bar was open (bartender was there and there was a guy drinking) but was asked to leave - even after I told the bartender I took a cab to get there and explained how on yelp the business is listed as dog-friendly and is open.

This is no longer a public open restaurant; unless you purchase a one day membership fee for US$ 10.00 per person.

Found the bartender rude and inattentive. Setting is very nice and the menu is good.

Wow, great experience. Try the dinner specials. Chicken cacciatore was awesome. Guests had pork osso buco and equally good. Great food and great service, Attentive manager. Very relaxing way to end a long week. Friendly atmosphere. A must try for friday evening.

Great location in a lively, redeveloped section of Stamford. We had an event with a fixed price menu and each course was amazingly good. Come hungry, because they give you a lot of food. Apps, salad, pasta and main courses were all wonderful. Great service... and a great view of the harbor. Not sure if it is open to the public, but if it is, check it out. More

I ate the Friday special of meat loaf and mashed potatoes. I started the meal with a small salad. It was all washed down with a very large glass of champagne. Overall, this was a decent meal, at a very reasonable price. Also, you cannot... forget the view of Stamford Harbor. Outdoor seating is also available. More

I was working with a group of 8 people close to the Yacht Club and we were looking for a good lunch. No one in our group was a member, but they welcomed us and said they would be glad to serve us. We had... lunch outside on the deck, next to the Marina; the setting couldn't have been better. The menu offered several good choices and I tried the Lobster Roll with Mayonnaise; it was served with fries and pickle. Two other members of the group tried the Lobster Roll with Butter and the remaining members of the group tried the Fish & Chips. The quality of the Lobster served in my sandwich couldn't have been better! It was slightly warm and the roll was toasted. The Lobster Rolls with Butter were served to two people who had never tasted Lobster, and they were very excited. The remaining members of the group were very satisfied with the Fish & Chips. We worked for six days in the area where the Yacht Club is located and came back for a second time for lunch! Again, Lobster Rolls and Fish & Chips were chosen and everyone was very satisfied. We also had the same server both times and he was very attentive and made us feel welcome. If you're in the area, give Ponus Yacht Club a try. The food, the service and the view while you're eating is great. More

This is an old established yacht club with a pub style dining room. There are excellent views and easy parking. You don't have to be a member but you must press a button to gain entry and then there's a book to sign. The decor... is tired and the carpet needs replacing but if you like outside dining there's a huge deck. The downside is they allow smoking on the deck and as you pass through the doors to to the deck there's a huge green garbage bin where they scrape the scraps! It needs to be removed. There's a small menu but the food is mostly good. The lobster rolls are served two ways - cold with a delicious dressing or hot with butter. The prawn dumplings were simple but full of flavour. I wasn't impressed with the fish and chips because the fish looked like it was out of a packet. The chips were good. The service is pleasant and timely but I wouldn't recommend going here to impress. It needs to be modernized and gutted with a new fit out. There's so much potential. I'd possibly return for the lobster rolls and I'd have given it an extra star for a better ambience. More

So if you've never heard of the Ponus you're not alone. It's a private yacht club that's been around for over a hundred years. The secret is that for years it was a bar and grill with a smoking clientele as allowed due to the... private club status. The good news is that new leadership has banned smoking inside the building and the place is now warm and family friendly. New restaurant management creates new dinner menus each week and the standard Pub menu of standard fare like burgers, pizza and nachos are top rate. The deck overlooking Stamford Harbor is the best in town. Although the club is private all are welcome as "Guests", just ring the doorbell to get in and sign the guest book. Food and drink prices are very reasonable so don't delay a visit. You'll be pleasantly surprised. I had a "Baseball Filet Mignon" Friday night that was as good as any I've enjoyed previously. The dinner menu is available Thursday thru Sunday and pub fare is available everyday starting at lunchtime. More

Hidden in Stamford, this restaurant requires you to sign in. Not sure if you have to be member, but they ask that you sign in. No questions asked though and half the staff were very helpful. The decor is tired to old. The area is... being renovated so they can't trade on their Yacht club members trade much longer. Having said that, the patio had a great view of the marina and the harbour (and also the more upscale restaurant on the other side of the river!) Our server was not the most sparkling personality, but was efficient, and the food came with a speed that was almost fast food. We had the Albacore Tuna melt, onion rings and fries. Good portions, hot and fast. Onion rings were done perfectly. Food great, decor drab, toilets clean. Price point very good, with a decent range of choice. More

I called to see if they are open for lunch. The person on the phone said yes, but it is members only, or members with their guests starting April 1st. I gave 5 stars because they were pleasant on the phone and there is no... reason to penalize the club. But I have not been there. More

A group of 6 went for dinner to see Green Eyed Lady band play. Two fish and chips were good, salmon was average and 3 had the Friday Prime Rib Special which was very good. Very good pricing.

This is one of the few restaurants directly on the water in Stamford. The outdoor deck is a nice little oasis with rocking chairs overlooking the Long Island Sound. The food is outstanding! I had the salmon blt on pumpernickel and it did not disappoint.... My husband enjoyed the burger and it was equally as good. They have live entertainment on the weekends. If you are a boater, you can dock in one of their guest slips. Although it is a club, it is open to the public. I highly recommend for the summer time! More

A group of 15 senior men gathered for lunch on the terrace overlooking the marina. The view was many, many boats of all sizes and tower buildings, but not Long Island Sound. The lunch menu is pretty typical and there was one special. Service was... slow even though there were not too many other diners. More

Rather small semi-private club/restaurant but makes even strangers from out of state feel welcomed, although wait staff was definitely stretched this day. Rubens were full of meat but both lacked sufficient Russian dressing, but the accompanying sweet potato fries were great. . Lobster roll was... reasonably priced @$19 and onion rings were crispy fresh. Little nephews hot dog was "Yummy" to quote this seasoned 3yr. old. More

Great party location. Food is average, but the views make up for it. If your thinking of throwing your next HS reunion, or any milestone celebration Consider this place.

Stopped in for a quick beer on Sunday pm. Very lively bar. Did not sample food but was told there has been a recent improvement. Nice view of Stamford Harbor if siting outside.

Very ordinary pub fare on an extraordinary deck on the Stamford Harbor. DJ / Karaoke entertainment at about dusk. Good but made conversation difficult.

Ponus Yacht Club was founded in 1911 and has been a staple on the western branch of the Stamford harbor for over 100 years. The club has matured over the years but the basic premise is the same. Ponus is a place for hard working middle class men, women and their families to socialize and share their enthusiasm for boating, fishing, and the current events of the day.

The club boasts a waterfront deck for lunch or an afternoon cocktail – the bar opens at 11:00 AM every day of the year. During the boating season, we serve lunch every day of the week and we are happy to cater and set up lunches to go. Dinner is available year round Thursday to Saturday evenings with a menu that changes weekly, highlighting seasonal specials.

We also offer a range of catering options in our Banquet Room, which holds 100 people with the dance floor and 130 without. Ponus has hosted weddings, birthdays, showers and business meetings. With a wonderful harbor view and a spacious deck (BBQ available), our Banquet Room is an excellent venue for special events. Our Banquet Menu offers many options to tailor a menu to your taste.

If you’re traveling by boat, we have dock and dine slips available to accommodate yachts as large as 100 feet and we offer transient docks for non-members at $2.50/foot.
