Specifications

The two architects behind this free-flowing, wonderfully nimble 54-footer are Roberto Biscontini and Lorzenzo Argento, whose creation paves the way for a new generation of high-end cruisers that optimize cockpit and interior layouts without any sacrifices to performance , practicality, or comfort.

The yacht carries the unmistakable DNA of the Oceanis range, a delicate balance of form and function that make her as pretty as she is capable, and as focused as she is versatile, equally ready for a fast ocean passage or a leisurely double-handed sunset cruise. With an emphasis on build quality, high-end materials, and the innovative vision that has always been a staple of the BENETEAU brand, the Oceanis Yacht 54 truly represents the pinnacle of the modern monohull cruising design.

NAVAL ARCHITECT : Biscontini Yacht Design

INTERIOR & EXTERIOR DESIGN : Lorenzo Argento

EXTERIOR DESIGN

With a straight stem allowing for new interior volumes in the bow area, and a maximum beam (5 m) carried further aft, the Oceanis Yacht 54 offers a state-of-the-art, perfectly balanced hull that maximizes thrills in all conditions.

Movement on deck was given special attention, particularly around the cockpit, which modernizes the traditional center cockpit design into a flush layout with distinct areas dedicated to lounging and sailing. Aptly drawn coamings and high bulwarks provide increased safety while transiting to the foredeck, and access to the sea is provided by the spacious swim platform, which, when deployed, reveals the space below the cockpit to store an eight-foot inflatable tender.

The Oceanis Yacht 54 is available with two different drafts: 2,50 m (standard), 1,95 m (option).

Interior Design

Lorenzo Argento’s objective in designing the interior was to create a warm, modern atmosphere with as much natural light and ventilation as possible.

The Oceanis Yacht 54’s layouts reflect a desire to meet the needs of modern-day owners, through well-engineered, versatile cabin arrangements that provide unrivaled levels of comfort and capacious storage space. Tables and seating areas have been reimagined to offer both conviviality and practicality, and access to all major systems and components hides in plain sight.

There are two versions available, a 3-cabin 2-head or a 3-cabin 3-head, and both can be built using light oak or walnut.

Every detail of the Oceanis Yacht 54 has been meticulously examined to become one with the crew and the sea.

She is, at a glance, unmistakably Oceanis – the mainsail arch, the modern sheerline, the elegant proportions, those distinctive coamings and portholes – and honors her pedigree by continuing to offer the features that have made the range a standard-bearer in the industry. A vast array of options, trim levels, rigging and keel setups, and mechanical components ensure there will be a tailored yacht to fit the needs of every sailor, and her stylish looks will turn heads in every harbor on every ocean.

Safe and Easy Sailing

The Oceanis Yacht 54 isn’t just modern on the outside; it is a yacht that is crammed with the latest and greatest sailing technologies, intuitively built into her systems, that are designed to make the cruising experience as easy and as enjoyable as possible. Ship Control, an interface that allows access to boat data and components, is installed as standard. Dock&Go, which greatly facilitates engine-powered manoeuvering in tight spaces by combining a 360 degree rotating pod with a retractable bowthruster, is available as an option. Under sail, the optional Harken AST (assisted sail trim) automatically trims the sails based on apparent wind, all controlled by a simple display in the cockpit. Shorthanding a 54-footer has never been easier.

Great Ease of Movement

The flush cockpit allows for seamless movement between the companionway and the helm stations, creating an invisible partition between active and passive areas on deck. The flow to the aft swim platform and down the gangways to the foredeck is remarkably natural, and the positioning of lines, winches and controls allows for near-effortless sailing. Sightlines from the helm forward are excellent. The cockpit seats feel comfortable yet snug, though it is the foredeck sunpad that is likely to be the most popular spot on the boat.

Exclusive Trim and Materials

A close inspection of the Oceanis Yacht 54’s engineering and build quality reveals a craft that is decidedly a cut above the rest. Every single aspect of the boat has been carefully reexamined and nothing has been taken for granted - from the high-quality door fixtures and upholstery, to the exquisite molded woods of the interior, to the aluminum sub-floor that increases rigidity yet saves weight. The owner will be able to choose between two cabin layouts (both with two wood options available) and a palette of upholstery and paneling choices, to say nothing of electronic, mechanical, and rigging selections. Whatever the choice, on such a beautifully executed boat, the owner is bound to be one with the boat, and one with the sea.

A connected boat

The mobile application, Seanapps , and its onboard unit lets you view the status of the boat's various systems (battery charge, fuel or water tank levels, maintenance scheduling) via your smartphone, as well as planning your route or reviewing your sailing status using your mobile phone.

By repurposing an existing hull design, has Beneteau just reinvented the 55-footer? Toby Hodges steps onboard the Oceanis Yacht 54 to find out

Product Overview

Manufacturer:, price as reviewed:.

There’s something surprising and quite brilliant about the new Beneteau Oceanis Yacht 54, which I bet you won’t notice at first. I certainly didn’t.

It’s not the powerful looks or performance – anyone who knows the Beneteau First 53 should expect that this detuned version, which shares the same formidable hull shape, should sail well.

Neither is it the space and volume which that hull design affords, although that is obviously significant.

No, this feature is one you come to appreciate more gradually – once you are reclining in the cockpit, or perhaps after you have moved below decks and realise how easily you got there, and how simple it is to move between key areas of the boat. Essentially then, the brilliance of the Oceanis Yacht 54 lies in the deck design.

Those who have been aboard a range of large yachts in recent years will know many have segregated areas for sailing and relaxing. However, these typically come with a downside: if it’s easy to get around these large spaces and decks when flat, it probably won’t be at heel. Indeed, the Beneteau First 53 suffers somewhat from that issue.

Beneteau First 53 review: This French cruiser backs up its bold first impressions

There is big talk and bold talk, but often it is no talk that speaks loudest when it comes to…

Beneteau's Oceanis Yachts 62

Video: Oceanis Yachts 62 – first of a new luxury range from Beneteau

Note the title ‘Oceanis Yachts’ 62. I missed it at first, assuming this was a new flagship for Beneteau’s traditional…

Hence some will place a higher value in designs which have deeper protective cockpits and/or high coamings, yet these can be the very barriers which make for a trickier thoroughfare while stationary.

The Oceanis Yacht 54 offers a formidable amount of exterior and interior real estate, yet makes it safe and easy to move between them, while somehow keeping the whole package visually appealing.

Reimagining

We sailed the First version 18 months ago, describing the all-Italian design efforts of Roberto Biscontini and Lorenzo Argento as perhaps the most elegant Beneteau ever. And while it is an attractive, slippery yacht, arguably more impressive is how well it’s been adapted to suit this Oceanis Yacht’s task of fast, easy, luxury cruising.

oceanis yacht 54 price

Powerful, long hull lines but with cruising-focussed cockpit and coachroof and sun protection designed in. Photo: Richard Langdon

This has been made possible thanks to modern hull shapes derived from racing yachts, which have brought about a step-change in internal volume and deck space for production yards.

Viewed from astern the Oceanis Yacht 54 is a yacht which will stop you in your tracks. Unlike the boxy Beneteau Oceanis Yacht 62 from 2016, this is all curves in an appealing, potent hull shape.

The 5m/16ft beam is formidable for a yacht of this length, but where the focus may have been on performance and stability on the First, here it is buying all that extra outdoor space in the cockpit and aft ends. It creates an extension to the living area, akin to adding a covered deck or conservatory to your home.

First impressions count at this size and the Oceanis Yacht 54 stood out handsomely berthed on the inside pontoon of a crowded River Hamble marina – it’s like seeing a Hummer parked amongst the family estate cars at the school drop-off. The UK’s south coast may not be ideal for a boat of this size, however the thrusters did their job of helping to manoeuvre it deftly in and out of this tight spot.

Oceanis Yacht 54 has speed to burn

As well as some bragging rights, a benefit of having a hull drawn by an America’s Cup designer is that it’s likely to get places quickly. This was instantly confirmed when we put the throttle down to search out the best breeze in the Solent and saw our speed threaten double figures.

oceanis yacht 54 price

Speed under motor is a relevant consideration for today’s time-poor owner, who will value the ability to get to their chosen sailing area as quickly as possible.

The test boat had the standard 80hp Yanmar saildrive and fixed three-blade propeller. Despite having to drag that prop around, the high average speeds continued for the rest of our thoroughly enjoyable time under sail.

We were blessed with one of those rare UK summer days that was hot enough to sail in tee-shirts and shorts while still appreciating the bimini above our heads, and also to encourage a thermal breeze to kick in and provide a consistent 15 knots.

Armed with a comparatively no-frills sail package, a fixed backstay and in-mast furling, it was a challenge to tease much shape out of the sails.

The optional genoa fitted at least helped us to fetch and reach at speed and with some heel angle. The standard self-tacking jib makes sense if you have furling offwind sails as the mast is positioned relatively far aft, leaving a large area for flying a variety of different sized foresails.

oceanis yacht 54 price

Easy access through the cockpit. Photo: Richard Langdon

A taller mast with slab reefing or boom furler is an option, however, the Oceanis Yacht 54 seems powerful enough in its standard guise, with serious form stability and a high sail area to displacement ratio (23.3).

Easy speed, easy miles

The Oceanis Yacht 54 was quick to power-up and maintain a high average speed while beating and fetching, keeping over 6 knots weigh on through 85° tacks.

The instruments only showed GPS speed over ground (SOG) rather than a log readout, so with a strong ebb tide it was hard to gain accurate speed figures. But pointing upwind (40-45°) it clocked approximately 8 knots, which climbs over 9 knots if you free off to 60° to the true wind, and touched double figures frequently when reaching.

Small heel angles are enough to increase righting moment, waterline length and speed. Powering up the Oceanis Yacht 54 becomes quite addictive. It’s a yacht which makes you want to go longer, further, and tempts dreamy thoughts of a tradewind ocean crossing .

Twin rudders set well outboard made light work of the steering, which remained fairly neutral in those conditions. While that is good for minimising the power draw of an autopilot , there was little helm feedback so owners will need to be careful not to over-canvas.

oceanis yacht 54 price

The mainsail is sheeted onto the arch and led aft to the pair of cockpit winches each side in front of the pedestals. With good communication it proved relatively easy for two of us to sail and trim the yacht effectively, but with minimal winches mounted close together you have to be tidy with the line tails, coiling and stowing those not in use. There are neat bins for these below the aft part of the cockpit benches.

Blindspots are an issue under sail. I like to be able to constantly monitor the mainsail, which is tricky to do with just two small panels in the test boat’s bimini. Adding more clear panels would help.

You also need to be vigilant about checking if it’s all-clear to leeward. Things happen quickly at these speeds and we found ourselves crossing the Solent faster than expected and hastily needing to put in tacks before we ran out of water.

The current form for modern, fast, warm weather cruisers with clean decks is to keep things minimalist. That may look sleek, but when you heel it can get ungainly as crewmembers slide off benches and have no real protection from the elements.

Aboard the Oceanis Yacht 54 you notice some key changes over the First 53 which prevent such situations and create possibly the largest, most comfortable and usable cockpit in its class.

When venturing from the cockpit to the side decks, for instance, you realise you don’t have to clamber awkwardly or potentially dangerously over the coamings, but can walk safely around the aft quarters, clear of the bimini structure. These side decks feel particularly safe thanks to a high bulwark – designer Lorenzo Argento told me they managed to achieve this in comparison to the First 53 by lowering the deck, which also increased interior light.

oceanis yacht 54 price

The side decks and bulwarks allow you to pass safely around the outside of the cockpit. Photo: Richard Langdon

Large helm seats behind the wheels give a feeling of security to the open transom design. And then there is the staple feature of an Oceanis – an arch to take the mainsheet and support a large sprayhood which protects the cockpit.

Rather than the afterthought they can often look like, the bimini and sprayhood are integral to the design and provide a lot of protection without looking overly ungraceful. And they create the ability to enclose all that space. With the addition of side panels it’s the equivalent of a modern covered home extension with bifold doors.

Push a button on the helm pedestal and the transom door opens, revealing integral steps to yet more deck space on the beamy swim platform and aft access to the sizeable garage.

The max beam is taken right aft, which means there is still room for deep quarter lockers. For practical deck stowage, there are shallow lockers below the cockpit benches or helm seats, plus a large, deep liferaft locker in the cockpit sole. Large items such as fenders and toys can be stowed in the garage/dinghy via a deck hatch or in the cavernous sail locker (which is well fitted out in crew cabin guise).

Twin cockpit tables, which can lower to form sunbeds, make it easy to pass through the cockpit while providing some bracing support. Together with the sunpads to each side on the flat coachroof beneath the sprayhood, as well as the long benches, there is a significant amount of lounging space, all of which is kept clear of any sailing systems.

An absolute must, however, would be to opt for the cockpit bench cushions which have in-built backrests, as the coamings below are too low to provide meaningful back support.

Easy does it

A particularly shallow companionway descent leads you into an expanse of space and natural light and an appealing, open and modern design. Again you start to appreciate the ease with which you can pass from one area to another.

oceanis yacht 54 price

Prodigious natural light through the huge hull portholes and coachroof windows. High bulwarks provide some privacy to those below decks. Photo: Richard Langdon

To its credit, Beneteau has retained the excellent radiused and fiddled furniture of the First. Not only does this look and feel high quality, but it is refreshingly at odds with many production yacht builders who currently favour squared edges.

The fiddles, combined with plenty of handrails, are also practical – despite the large spaces to negotiate at heel, there are plenty of points to grab hold of for support.

The layout options include a third heads compartment, which takes up a little of the port aft cabin and some galley worksurface, and a crew cabin instead of the sail locker. That’s it. So when Beneteau says this is its ‘semi-custom’ range, it’s not really talking about offering any major bespoke decisions.

oceanis yacht 54 price

Modern hull shapes create significant volume in the forward ends. Dividing the heads and shower compartments to each side also helps open out space in this owner cabin. Photo: Richard Langdon

The Oceanis Yacht 54 lacks the indulgent saloon seating area of the First 53, but instead you get a more practical set-up with a proper fixed table which can seat four, or six with the addition of directors chairs, and a dedicated chart table to port. The chaise longue abaft the navstation is a marvel, thanks to a section which can raise beneath your knees for serious reclined comfort.

I also like the myriad stowage space. The usable bilge compartments in the saloon and galley all have sole boards which lift on struts. These panels sit on rubber dampeners and are varnished on the undersides (although the ply is left exposed on the sides).

The galley is more comparable to a kitchen in a modern apartment than a traditional dark snug. It is large, sociable and well laid out, with plenty of worksurface, refrigeration and stowage space, which is why I’d opt for this layout unless you really do need a third heads.

oceanis yacht 54 price

Plenty of engine access. Removable panels between the aft cabins give access to a large mechanical area for a generator. Photo: Richard Langdon

A minimalist design is maintained by hiding things away, including the instrument panel. The systems can be viewed and controlled on a mobile device or an intuitive touchscreen using Beneteau’s Ship Controller system.

That impression of space you get on descending the companionway is repeated on entering the forward cabin, which has huge hull ports and twin overhead hatches. Splitting the heads and shower each side also serves to open up the cabin, and again practical stowage is commendable.

The bare teak double seat in the shower is a nice touch, although this and the heads could do with a larger hatch for ventilation and, for this price level of yacht, a heated towel rail wouldn’t go amiss.

The light oak Alpi finish is smart and the fixtures and fittings in general throughout the boat are at a noticeably and consistently higher standard than the Oceanis range, including soft-closing drawers and magnetic door latches, which prevent snagging. It all looks good in showroom condition, albeit a little sterile, beige and in need of some personalisation to make it homely.

It’s certainly refreshing to take a new production yacht out, armed only with fairly standard white sails, and enjoy some short-handed fast sailing. In this respect you can think of the Oceanis Yacht 54 as a wolf in sheep’s clothing – under its cruising skin lies the beating heart of a performance boat. But it would be wrong to merely consider it as a slightly cheaper version of the First with a different interior. The practical space and comfort it offers, particularly on deck, means that it’s a lot more than that. So much so, that it’s actually arguably more relevant than its sistership. For those looking for a craft to keep in the Mediterranean, which will offer enjoyable fast sailing, a high degree of home-from-home comfort for your holiday aboard and still look stylish enough in the glitzy harbours, this sets a new standard in the 55ft sub €500,000 production yacht sector.

Beneteau Oceanis Yacht 54 Boat Review

  • By Herb McCormick
  • Updated: March 31, 2021

Beneteau Oceanis Yacht 54

The executives, design team, and craftsmen at the sailing division of Groupe Beneteau have made some interesting, innovative, and even surprising decisions ever since a regime change took place in the marine conglomerate’s upper-management ranks a couple of years back. This was clear from last year’s launching of Beneteau’s First Yacht 53 , a sleek and powerful performance cruiser with the contemporary lines evident in the latest offerings from the top European naval architects. Now the company is continuing its ongoing design evolution with its latest dedicated cruising boat, the Oceanis Yacht 54. We tested the boat this past fall on a gorgeous day on Chesapeake Bay with a Beneteau team that couldn’t have been more excited about its potential, and deservedly so. It’s a rangy, clever, impressive yacht.

Over the years, when testing Beneteaus , we’ve become accustomed to reviewing the work of the crème de la crème of the leading practitioners of French naval architecture. So one of the first surprises with this new 54-footer is its design collaboration between a pair of Italians: architect Roberto Biscontini, a veteran of several high-profile America’s Cup campaigns who created the hull, and Lorenzo Argento, the stylist behind many high-end Wally Yachts, who designed the interior layout and accouterments. The Oceanis Yacht 54 actually borrows the basic hull platform from the earlier First Yacht 53, but make no mistake about it: This is a completely new and fresh vessel.

In profile, the Oceanis Yacht 54 is a handsome, purposeful-looking craft. The plumb bow and equally vertical transom maximize the long waterline. A nifty fixed bowsprit is home to the ground tackle and serves as a potential launching pad for reaching sails. There’s a trio of horizontal windows in the hull to port and starboard that look smart and provide natural light and cool ocean views to the interior. The low coach roof slopes forward and transitions to a flush deck forward of the mast. The main feature that links it to the range of Oceanis sisterships is the cockpit arch over the companionway, which anchors the double-ended mainsheet and, on the boat we tested, is the structural centerpiece of a superb Bimini aft and an excellent dodger forward. We’re talking serious shade here.

The cockpit itself is pretty astounding and is a focal point of the design. In 2021, we’re seeing a trend to separate the helm and working sailhandling stations from a dedicated social area free of winches and sheets, aimed purely at comfort. This Oceanis Yacht 54 does this as well or better than anybody. A Beneteau rep referred to this, alternatively, as a “terrace by the sea” and a “rethinking of the center-cockpit” layout. OK, I’ll buy that. There certainly is a lovely, natural, unimpeded flow in the open aisle from the companionway aft, through a passageway between the twin wheels, to the drop-down transom with teak decking that serves as both a boarding/swim platform, and the door opening to a dinghy garage capable of housing an 8-foot-2-inch RIB. The designers clearly feel this big back porch will be the spot where the crew congregates and spends a lot of time, both underway and at anchor, and there’s no question that it’s a very inviting space.

Beneteau Oceanis Yacht 54

Interestingly, there are no hull chines on the boat, a feature Beneteau introduced with its innovative Sense line that has become ubiquitous on contemporary production cruising boats. The chines were billed as something that would promote stability under sail, but they also expanded interior volume and made for roomier accommodations. Then again, with a 16-foot-5-inch beam, the interior of this yacht is already plenty voluminous.

When it comes to accessing the deck from the cockpit, the Oceanis Yacht 54 has borrowed an idea from its Groupe Beneteau stablemates at Jeanneau, with a slight alteration. Moving forward is a simple matter of stepping outboard from behind the helms and onto an ample side deck, protected by a big bulwark, that gradually rises and transitions into a couple of steps that guide you onto the foredeck. True center-cockpit designs are notorious for the sometimes-difficult gymnastics it requires to step out of them. This is a very elegant solution. Scattered about the teak decks are a quartet of sun pads for spreading out when the hook is down.

There are many, many options to consider on this vessel. For example, take the three different auxiliaries: an 80 hp diesel in a saildrive configuration; a 110 hp engine with a traditional shaft; or Beneteau’s proprietary Dock & Go docking system , a 360-degree rotating pod coupled with a retractable bow thruster that permits the driver to spin the boat in the tightest of spaces. Two rigs are offered: a standard in-mast furling spar measuring just under 79 feet, or a performance stick with a full-batten main and a towering air draft of 85 feet. Likewise, the cast-iron keels, with affixed bulbs, are available in a standard deep version (8 feet, 2 inches) or an optional shoal-draft (6 feet, 7 inches) package.

The boat comes with a full suite of B&G instrumentation, which is as good as it gets, and a standard, proprietary “Ship Control” feature that allows you to monitor and control all the boat’s systems, autopilot, tankage, and so on via a monitor, a tablet, or an app. We’re talking thoroughly modern here. The fiberglass construction is straightforward and employs a balsa core from the deck rail to the keel, as well as an aluminum subfloor that provides structural rigidity to the yacht.

Beneteau Oceanis Yacht 54

The accommodations and furniture below are clean, contemporary and striking; the Wally influence is clearly very much in play. The standard wood employed is walnut Alpi, which I found hard to beat. There are two floor plans, both of which have a generous saloon and a large owner’s cabin with an en suite head forward and twin, double staterooms aft; a choice of two or three heads are the difference between them (the third head tightens up the galley, to port, opposite the navigation station to starboard). The three-head layout also provides for a tight captain’s quarters in the bow, a space that is otherwise reserved for a giant step-down locker for sails, fenders and such.

We sea-trialed the boat in fairly perfect fall Chesapeake conditions: bright sunshine, blue skies and a sweet, ideal southwesterly of 15 knots or so. And I can state unequivocally that the Oceanis Yacht 54 is simply a blast to sail. The helms are equipped with comfortable seats. All running rigging is led below the deck to winch stations within arm’s length of the wheels that provide ready access to sail trim; this is a boat laid out well for shorthanded maneuvering (the Harken AST system, which stands for “assisted sail trim,” is optional). Upwind, the easily tacked 107 percent genoa further facilitated the easy operation, but the real fun began when we cracked off and unrolled the powerful code zero headsail and cleaved through the small chop effortlessly. The boat was fitted with an impressive suit of excellent sails from French sailmaker Incidence.

With the Oceanis Yacht 54, Beneteau has tacked off on a slightly different but very smooth direction. It’s clearly evident in this distinctive design.

Tested: Beneteau Oceanis Yacht 54

oceanis yacht 54 price

Beneteau has taken the hull of its sporty First 53 and repackaged it to create the luxurious Oceanis Yacht 54. Sam Jefferson evaluates whether the metamorphosis has been a success

There is a reason that Beneteau have been the biggest manufacturer of yachts over the past three decades and more, and that, make no mistake, has been because they are shrewd enough to look at the bottom line and understand exactly what is required to turn a profit in the notoriously choppy waters of the boatbuilding trade. This is perhaps why I raised an eyebrow when they launched the somewhat flamboyant Beneteau First 53 last year; a boat that was all style, flair and panache. In all honesty it was a boat that seemed designed more as a glorious ‘screw you’ to Solaris Yachts and other manufacturers in that niche than a serious money maker. Yet, I might have known that Beneteau had a further trick up its sleeve and this was confirmed when it launched the Beneteau Oceanis Yacht 54. Another new yacht? I thought. Well, not exactly. True, the deck is entirely new, but the hull looked strangely familiar and that is because it comes directly from the Beneteau First 53. Yes, this is the more grown up version of the boat. The new deck mould means it is at least halfway to being a new boat and there are other refinements, demonstrating that this is a yacht with pretensions of being much more of a serious cruising yacht.

oceanis yacht 54 price

More on that as we go along, but let’s start with what is the same – the hull: the lines have been penned by Italian designer Roberto Biscontini, who devoted many years of his career to working on America’s Cup yachts such as Il Moro di Venezia. He won a design competition and the First 53 was born, and that in turn has provided the hull for the Oceanis Yacht 54. Doubtless this was part of Biscontini’s design brief in the first place. The lines are, in their own way, fairly conservative. This is a yacht that boasts prodigious beam (16’5”) carried almost all the way aft; there is no chine and this slippery aft section is combined with moderately fine bow sections and modest freeboard.

She comes with an iron tipped T-shaped keel with a draft of 2.5m as standard, with a shallow (1.95m) version available. The boat weighs in at 16,600kg, which makes her 1,100kg lighter than the First 53. The mast stepped rig is big but has been significantly reduced compared to her sportier sister. Perhaps the need to convert the hull of the 53 into a slightly more conservative 54 explains why the styling is not as aggressive as some of her direct competitors; there is a plumb bow rather than the dreadnought bow favoured by some manufacturers in this category.

As previously mentioned, it is the deck and coachroof on this yacht that are totally new and that is reflected in the profile of the boat. The new coachroof is a touch higher and more angular than on the 53, while the addition of an arch over the cockpit – which is the fixing point for the mainsheet – gives the boat a distinct air of being a fast cruiser as opposed to having serious pretensions of being sporty.

Nevertheless, it’s a stylish yacht which looks good on the water.

oceanis yacht 54 price

Step aboard and you are definitely in a more enclosed space than on the 53. The layout is markedly different and, although there is a lot of room, there is also a feeling of security.

The helming stations are set slightly further inboard compared to the 53 and there are seats for the helmsman with lockers underneath. The yacht I tested had a fixed bimini and sprayhood which made the boat feel very safe and enclosed without making the boat look terrible, which I thought was a fine achievement.

The cockpit is laid out so that aft by the wheels is the ‘working’ area of the boat, with all sail controls led through channels in the coamings to two pairs of beefy Harken winches – electric, of course. Meanwhile, further forward is the lounging zone featuring a comfortable seating area and twin cockpit tables. This lounging area is further extended thanks to two large cushions set into the coachroof – very comfortable they are too.

There is a lot of space aft of the wheels and, in addition to providing a pleasant space to pad about and possibly sunbathe, beneath lies the dinghy garage; an important feature – there’s also decent access to the rudder quadrants.

There are acres of teak on show, although if you want the foredeck and side decks teak, this is an added option that you’ll probably take to be honest. The side decks are wide and everything is flush. There’s not much to say because it’s extremely minimalist. Up forward there is the now obligatory fixed bowsprit with integrated roller, and there is also a capacious lazarette which can be converted into pretty reasonably proportioned crew quarters.

Perhaps the most interesting feature is the three-level deck which features a series of three steps ascending upwards as you move toward the bow. The result is a boat that has an added feeling of security aft when you tread out onto the side decks, with the bulwarks getting progressively shorter as you get to the bow. It’s not a feature I’ve seen before but it seems to work pretty well, and is a marked contrast from the flush decks of the First 53.

oceanis yacht 54 price

If the deck is radically different from the 53, the interior is not nearly such a departure. The big difference is that there is a bit more light in here thanks to the larger portlights in the saloon. Aside from that, the seating area to starboard has been altered to accommodate a U-shaped dining area – the 53 has a slightly more ‘lounge’ style area here, with the dining area to port instead. The space saved on the port side has been used to create a chart table/office space, which works very well. Other than that, there are differences in trim but all in all, things are very similar – no bad thing, believeme. Given the yacht’s very broad hindquarters, there is a lot of space down here – and this despite the fact that a lot is lost to the dinghy garage. But this is only a minor issue as the premise of this boat is not to cram in many people at all. The result is a yacht with two modest double berths aft and a big stateroom forward. You have the option of three ensuites, or a shared bathroom for the doubles aft combined with an ensuite for the stateroom.

The galley is to port and is U-shaped with all the bells and whistles you’d expect from a luxury yacht.

Up forward, the main stateroom is a sumptuous affair with an ensuite that features the heads set to port and a separate shower room to starboard, which I always find a more satisfactory set up compared to showering in close vicinity to the toilet. The aft cabins were perforce more modest and unremarkable but they were perfectly pleasant places to be. Engine access was also good, and the steps down to the saloon were thoughtfully angled with the amount of handholds had been well thought out. In addition, the quality of the finish was good, in line with expectation of Beneteaus these days. One added thing to note here was the almost complete absence of creaks and groans down here, even when the boat was pressed hard – or when I was tramping on the floorboards.

oceanis yacht 54 price

Given that I tested the First 53 in the autumn and have done precious little sailing since, I was a bit worried that this would just be a slightly less thrilling sail than the previous one. Thankfully the south of France dished up a surprisingly nasty day given it was late June, with strong breezes and a short chop. This negated to some extent the extra weight and slightly reduced sail plan of the 54 and meant instead we just had a rollicking sail. This is a moderate displacement yacht with twin rudders and a relatively deep T-keel married to a decently proportioned rig with spanking new sails. How did she perform?

Well, ask a silly question.. she performed superbly – as any modern yacht would in those circumstances with those appendages in 15-17kn of breeze. The steering was a joy; light and responsive with tons of grip and masses of control – even with once we’d hoisted the gennaker. The speed never dropped below 7.5kn and we were well into double digits off the breeze with the gennaker. The sail controls were also eminently sensible, and it’s easy to see how you could handle this boat single-handed without any great shakes. As an added bonus, Harken’s Assisted Sail Trim system was also available, which will actually trim the sails and even tack for you. I’ve used it before and while it’s incredibly clever, I prefer to do things by hand myself.

Under power, the boat was impressively silent down below but perhaps the most fascinating feature was the optional extra Dock and Go system. This greatly eases engine-powered manoeuvring in tight spaces by combining a 360 degree rotating pod with a retractable bowthruster. I was cynical about the use of this as I observed the chap from Beneteau twiddling with a little joystick to park the boat, silently musing that I would be happier Med mooring by eye.

On trying it though, I must admit I was deeply impressed. This genuinely takes all of the stress out of parking to an absurd degree. Even in blustery conditions you have pinpoint control, and Med mooring a boat like this with such a broad derrière, this really is a bonus. It’s an optional extra which costs £XX – quite pricey, but somewhat offset on a big boat like this where the bow thruster is standard anyway. Plus if you are at all nervous about parking, it’s superb.

oceanis yacht 54 price

If the First 53 was a cruising boat with racing potential, the Oceanis Yacht 54 is a fast cruiser pure and simple. Nothing wrong with that either. I guess the biggest and most important thing was that there was a clear demarcation between the 53 and the 54. This, to my mind, has definitely been achieved. This is a very refined yacht that is genuinely very easy to manage. It could demolish an ocean passage with ease but I still feel its natural home is the Med, where its mixture of style, speed and ease of handling make for a very pleasing mix.

Oceanis Yacht 54

New for 2021.

oceanis yacht 54 price

Shorthanding a 54-footer has never been easier.

oceanis yacht 54 price

Great ease of movement

The flush cockpit allows for seamless movement between the companionway and the helm stations, creating an invisible partition between active and passive areas on deck. The flow to the aft swim platform and down the gangways to the foredeck is remarkably natural, and the positioning of lines, winches and controls allows for near-effortless sailing. Sightlines from the helm forward are excellent. The cockpit seats feel comfortable yet snug, though it is the foredeck sunpad that is likely to be the most popular spot on the boat.

oceanis yacht 54 price

Exclusive trim and materials

A close inspection of the Oceanis Yacht 54’s engineering and build quality reveals a craft that is decidedly a cut above the rest. Every single aspect of the boat has been carefully reexamined and nothing has been taken for granted – from the high-quality door fixtures and upholstery, to the exquisite molded woods of the interior, to the aluminum sub-floor that increases rigidity yet saves weight.

A closer look: Oceanis Yacht 54

  • July 3rd, 2021
  • Sailing Yacht

Following my facebook- and Instagram-Pages you may have noticed that last weekend I´ve had the pleasure to travel to Spain for the worldwide dealer meeting of Beneteau. That, by the way, was a great and truly eagerly awaited occasion since due to Covid we haven´t had the chance to meet both the people from the yard nor our dear colleagues from around the world in two years. Man is a social being and we need to meet, seeing each other and share proximity. Apart from this emotional aspect, dealer meetings are always a rich source for news, upcoming new products (of which sailing-wise Beneteau will have no less than two really big things coming up very soon) and of course a chance to really see new boats. Like the Oceanis Yacht 54.

oceanis yacht 54 price

Travelling to Port Ginesta, which is a mid-sized marina south of Barcelona near Castelldefels, Beneteau has a sea trial base there where over the year most of the yard´s fleet is displayed and may be visited by clients and prospects for sailing and trying out the boats in live action. It´s a full pontoon with a small lounge, cold beverages and snacks and the proud fleet moored at the jetty. To my joy I saw the new Oceanis Yacht 54 tied up at the pier and since this boat marks the second generation of the Oceanis Yacht-style boats (next to the flagship, the 62 I couldn´t resist but to take a closer look.

Sister Ships Literally: First Yacht 53 and Oceanis Yacht 54

First of all one must know that the new Oceanis Yacht 54 shares the same hull and nearly the same deck mould with the sexy, darn fast First Yacht 53 which was launched in 2019 and has since then become an iconic cruiser-racer and the topic of so many wet dreams of keen sailors. That is a definitive pro for the Oceanis Yacht 54 since the fast hull of designer Roberto Biscontini is by all means a high-tech modern hull optimized for quick sailing. The Oceanis Yacht 54 is a true leisure-optimized cruising yacht fir sure, but incorporating the First Yacht hull, an owner will receive literally a wolf in sheep´s clothing …

oceanis yacht 54 price

Of course, it´s no racer: Weighing in some 1.000 kilograms (at least) more than her fast sister, the Oceanis Yacht 54 will at the same time bring 51 squaremetres less sails area to the wind – that´s 166 sqm for the First Yacht 53 and 114 sqm for the cruiser in standard configurations. Nevertheless, the blue water-version of Biscontini´s hull (which one could call the boat as well) can be upgraded with Code 0 , Gennaker and a Genoa as well to boost sails area. Most interesting, besides bare data, I found how the yard managed to “blow” up the rather race-orented, simplistic (though still luxurious) cockpit layout of the First Yacht 53 to fit a cruising sailor´s needs.

oceanis yacht 54 price

Looking at the renderings, one might easily see that dimensions are absolutely the same. Width, height and all measurements are taken over. But it´s in the details. For example, the deck-step on the gallery is positioned much more forward on the Oceanis Yacht 54, allowing for a feel of a higher coaming aft. The cruiser also comes with a full stationary helmsman´s seating (with some stowage underneath) which I tried out and found that this position is perfect for long haul trips and watches , something, an Oyster for example offers in standard and that is absolutely needed for a boat that size. Most noticeable is the longer cockpit bench seating which now adjoins the steering posts, on the First Yacht 53 there is free space allowing for multiple crew members working the winches: Something that won´t happen on a cruiser.

Blue Water Quality: Oceanis Yacht 54´s Cockpit

Also, on the Oceanis Yacht 54 of course the luxurious aspects of sailing with a big emphasis on cockpit life whilst moored or at anchor has been tackled much more intense. Looking at the thickness, height and quality of the cockpit cushion for example reveals that the yard intents to offer a truly luxurious sensation. Heavy automatic cockpit tables will go up and down by the push of a button and can be turned into two separated coffee-tables, big dinner tables and, set to “couch mode” with surplus cushion may turn the cockpit seating into a huge cockpit lounge. That´s an aspect the owner of this boat will love for sure.

oceanis yacht 54 price

Starting at 46 feet the yard has these boats built with a single handed-optimized running rigging layout. That means that all winches are put abaft. The classic position of the working winches which operate the halyards, reefing lines and other trimming lines which was next to the entryway are now right at the helm station. The now freed space is utilized by big cushions which may serve as a wonderful sun-bathing area. Even during night sailing one can cuddle here under the sprayhood to catch a bit of sleep – already tested for you .

oceanis yacht 54 price

Whereas the First Yacht 53 clearly has her emphasis on sporty, fast sailing, stylish and practical layout optimized for a “Gentlemen´s Race”, the Oceanis Yacht 54 intents to offer maximum space and recreation for her owners, crew and guests. Sitting here and there, spending some time trying out the different spots I envisioned myself out on the big blue, sailing long legs on a downwind course and I must say it felt quite good: Together with the large sprayhood, the mainsheet arch and Bimini the cockpit creates not only a nice, stylish recreational space but also one that feels safe – the First Yacht was more open, more connected to the outside and thus more prone to the natural elements. Something a skipper on a circumnavigation might want to limit a bit to create a sensation of safety.

Design as a Co-Skipper

Being an Oceanis Yacht the boat of course has a big emphasis on design. No wonder, leisure sailing yachts above 50 feet are worth a treasure and these clients demand for style. That is of course something the classic high-grade brands like Solaris for example master perfectly, offering true gems of boat design. Beneteau, as world´s leader in sailing boat manufacturing, is a production boat builder. In this, these people have to design boats which appeal to a broad range of people: Polarizing and niches are not the market for a large production boat company. Which does not mean that a Beneteau is not stylish.

oceanis yacht 54 price

Look at her stern section: That´s the most beautifully crafted and designed part of the First Yacht 53 in my eyes and I am happy that the yard kept most of the “open design” feel in the cruiser as well. A bit of the huge aft deck space of the performance First Yacht is lost due to the big helm station right after the entry opening in reeling at the stern, but the boat still has this wide, flat, sporty, sexy aft section which makes her an attraction in every harbour. Since the hull is 1:1 the First yacht, her side view is amazing, keeping the great sheer line and low profile deck.

oceanis yacht 54 price

I proceed to the helm stations and look at them more closely. These boats, although very big unites in terms of their sizes, are – besides in charter – mostly sailed by a small family, a party of two people. That means that everything will have to be ergonomically perfect positioned to be worked by the helmsman. On the Oceanis Yacht 54 that ergonomic pretense has been fulfilled nicely: All winches (electric of course) can be reached by the helmsman just nicely. More than that, the Oceanis Yacht 54 is equipped with Harken´s AST system, which in essence enables the helmsman to trim the boat and drive it completely by pushing buttons.

As the boat – in the version I visited – was equipped with a Genoa, both sheets can be left on both Genoa winches when sailing. Much easier would be the standard version that comes with a self-tacking jib, which in regions with moderate and strong winds may be as well the better solution. Also, the in-mast furling main sail´s sheet is worked with a German system, the sheet may remain on one dedicated working winch as well. The rest is done by the electronics.

oceanis yacht 54 price

The AST system allows for auto tacking and gybing as well as for push-button fine trimming of both sails. A skipper does not have to work the winches anymore. This boosts convenience very much and reduces stress for the crew dramatically. I, but that´s just a personal opinion, wouldn´t choose this system as I love working the winches, trimming by hand and even some time grinding on a winch handle, but that´s just my personal style. As leading brands in this automation sector like Hallberg-Rassy have been done and refining in years, Beneteau now offers this proven technology and I might say I can be a big plus for owners, since most people being able to come up with the budget needed to affords buying and maintaining such a big unit are, admittedly, older.

oceanis yacht 54 price

Besides the Harken AST, which I´d like to test live out sailing (not possible during the meeting), the yacht as well comes with all the latest gems and amenities, such as Dock&Go which – also my personal opinion – I wouldn´t choose and trade for a classic bow- and stern-thruster combination, electronic engine controls, which are nice, and – very, very useful and essential on a boat this size, a retractable bow winch for tightening mooring lines. Lots of electric and electronic stuff, I know …

A true Blue Water Passagemaker?

So, has the Oceanis Yacht 54 the potential to be a successful passagemaker? Well, the numbers say yes. Beneteau and their Oceanis-range are both in sold units as well in sailed miles by far the most successful boats when it comes to cruising and long-range sailing. Comparing prices and budgets needed to finance a circumnavigation, still most people go for a production boat which is then equipped to fit the needs of a long haul trip rather than going for the “true” long haul-brands like Oyster , Discovery, Allures or alike.

oceanis yacht 54 price

I would say that I can easily envision myself on this boat doing the big circle, although I might say that the Beneteau clearly sits at the “comfort”-side of long range sailing. She is certainly not a “go anywhere”-boat for entering the remote and still wild regions of our planet: Anyone seeking this kind of adventure certainly is better off with a Boreal or the classy Ovni by Alubat. But going on the Coconut Route, putting the spot on reaching the “holiday” destinations – the Oceanis Yacht 54 will do the job just as fine. She is a quick passage maker for sure.

oceanis yacht 54 price

Going down to the saloon the principal layout of this boat is absolutely similar to that of the First Yacht 53. Except for one – big – detail: Looking to starboard side the yard has replaced the ingenious lounge-cocktail-couch-combination in the First Yacht 52 with a classic big dining table centering a large U-shaped seating bench. This is imperative for a cruiser as sometimes meals must be enjoyed down in the saloon when weather up there does not allow for a dinner in the cockpit.

oceanis yacht 54 price

Other than that, the Oceanis Yacht 54 offers the same wooden elements, moule boulé , which are a trademark of the First-Range and a wide selection of fine veneered wooden furniture, upgraded cushion garments and elements. In this particular boat I kind of did not like the colors these owners chose but beauty, as always, lies in the eyes of the beholder. As the Oceanis Yacht is build on separate production lines the material-quality, the selection of fittings and the production quality is noticeable better than in the Oceanis, but this is also mirrored of course in the price tag.

A big, big Boat indeed!

So, who needs such a boat? I took the picture below to show the difference in size between the Oceanis 51.1 and the new Oceanis Yacht 54. She definitely is a big, big, big ass sailing yacht! “Just” 3 feet more is much more volume that can easily be noticed when looking at the picture.

oceanis yacht 54 price

The Oceanis 51.1 already is a big boat that, from my point of view, will fulfill all the needs an owner might have when going on a long cruise, start the circumnavigation or begin a “life aboard” travelling around. The 54 is not just another size up, she is a different category. With all her electronics, auxiliary systems, demand for electric power and complex computer-systems managing the boat in the background her complexity is a notch up too. Who buys a 54? Well, people who can, of course. Do you need it, even when you can afford it? I don´t know. I really don´t know.

oceanis yacht 54 price

She is a very, very beautiful boat. The hull-design (and I do not mean performance-wise but aesthetically) by Biscontini is timelessly beautiful. Much less “aggressive” looking than the exciting, edgy and racy lines of Berret-Recoupeau in the 51.1. In this, she might appeal much better to more people as she is slightly less “exciting”. The Oceanis Yacht 54, I am sure, will be regarded as a beautiful boat in a 10, 15 or even 20 years time. Where Solaris or other smaller brands offer very specific, distinct and maybe polarizing design approaches, this ship has the potential to turn into a classic – together with the First Yacht 53 which already has the attribute “iconic” for her timeless beauty.

oceanis yacht 54 price

It was very interesting and educative to see the new Oceanis Yacht 54 – how the yard managed to make two very, very different products suited for two diametrically opposing target groups of buyers out of one basic platform is astonishing. It fits the brand´s approach and business model as a large production company but at the same time shows the knowledge and dedication to offer their clients the best product possible. I guess the Oceanis Yacht 54 will find her fans – leaving this big cruiser I liked her, but honestly, I can´t wait to get back to my little 27 feet racer where there is no AST, huge gen-set, auto-tack and big-block electronically controlled Diesel engine … but who knows.

The well-known architects behind this free-flowing, wonderfully nimble 54-footer, Roberto Biscontini and Lorzenzo Argento, have strived to design the tasteful and over 17-meter long hull so that the boat has maximum comfort, barrier-free transitions, easy maneuverability under sail and furthermore high-quality equipment. The Oceanis Yacht 54 is thus the pioneer of its new generation of sailing yachts. Its optimized cockpit and navigation aids make sailing easy. With a TOP design and optimal comfort, the Oceanis Yacht 54 fits seamlessly into the series of these Oceanis boats. She embodies the perfect cruiser yacht: easy to handle with a small crew, many valuable details & noble materials.

Design Exterior

The Oceanis Yacht 54 impresses with an elegantly straight bow area that offers unimagined space with a beam of 5 meters at this widest point further aft. The hull is original, perfectly balanced and allows maximum driving pleasure under sail. Movement on deck was given special attention, particularly around the cockpit. So nothing stands in the way of great sailing. The Oceanis Yacht 54 is the successful further development of the classic central cockpit. It is safe, well laid out and the deck level structure is innovative, which ensures safe and comfortable movement onboard. The ergonomics of the hatch edging and the height of the bulwark guarantee optimal safety and further comfort on the open ocean. The transition from the sundeck and from the exit to the stern is natural via the two cockpit tables. Furthermore, above the two steering positions via the comfortable seating. You can get from the boat to the sea via the large bathing platform, which houses the inflatable, 2.40m long dinghy under the cockpit. The Oceanis Yacht 54 is available in two different draft versions (2.50 m standard, optionally 1.95 m) and with different masts (classic or furling).

Design Interior

Lorenzo Argento’s objective in designing the interior was to create a warm, modern atmosphere with as much natural light and ventilation as possible. Numerous hatches and windows, a large card table and a large table in the salon that easily seats six people make up the interior. You can also choose between a light oak or walnut interior. There are two layouts available. Three cabins and two bathrooms or three cabins and three bathrooms with an XXL owner’s cabin at the front and a free-standing, 1.60m wide bed.

This vessel is the latest design from the desk of Biscontini Yacht Design,

A Plumb bow and stern add to the waterline, which help keep her cruising speed high, often hitting above 10 knots. A fixed bowsprit supports the anchor and serves as an attachment point for the Code Zero or other furling headsails, should one choose to increase performance even more. Three hull windows on each side allow natural light to fill the interior and allow for views of the surrounding area. A large arch at the forward end of the cockpit is a newer Beneteau innovation. It helps support the full cockpit Bimini, which is a welcome option when cruising the Caribbean or other warm climate areas. The arch also serves as the attachment point for the mainsheet turning blocks, which keep the cockpit clear from obstruction and maximize usable space.

Set up for shorthanded sailing, all lines are led aft to the twin electric winches on each side of the cockpit, directly in front of the helm. This allows for push button sail trim from where you are sitting, and single-handed sail handling becomes efficient and easy.

Her "Yacht" designation is not simply a moniker; it is apparent as you immediately step on board. Her teak decks and, wide side decks allow for easy transit throughout the boat.

The interior is designed to maximize space and offer a bright and airy feel while maintaining separation of different living spaces.  The boat has 3 separate hull side windows plus additional ports for light. And Her Alpi woodwork adds a luxurious touch to her accommodations.

Hull & Deck

    EXTERIOR DESIGN

With a straight stem allowing for new interior volumes in the bow area, and a maximum beam (16.3 feet) carried further aft, the Oceanis Yacht 54 offers a state-of-the-art, perfectly balanced hull that maximizes thrills in all conditions. Movement on deck was given special attention, particularly around the cockpit, which modernizes the traditional center cockpit design into a flush layout with distinct areas dedicated to lounging and sailing. Aptly drawn coamings and high bulwarks provide increased safety while transitioning to the foredeck. The spacious swim platform provides access to the sea; when deployed, it reveals that the space below the cockpit stores an eight-foot inflatable tender

   GREAT EASE OF MOVEMENT

The flush cockpit allows for seamless movement between the companionway and the helm stations, creating an invisible partition between active and passive areas on deck. The flow to the aft swim platform and down the gangways to the foredeck is remarkably natural, and the positioning of lines, winches, and controls allows for near-effortless sailing. Sightlines from the helm forward are excellent. The cockpit seats feel comfortable, and the foredeck sun pad is likely to be a popular spot on the boat.

  • CE Certification A10/B12/C/14 – (Ocean rated for 10 passengers, maximum rating 14 passengers)
  • Two Steering Wheel stations – each with comfortable seat
  • Central isle serving the double cockpit seating space converting into two lounges – solid wooden tables (electrically operated up and down), large lockable storage lockers
  • Spacious swim platform is a part of the fold-down transom, also offer access below the cockpit where an inflatable tender can be stored
  • 4 Sunbathing areas – one aft sun lounger, double sun loungers in cockpit, double sun pad on foredeck
  • Bimini top protects the cockpit and doubles the living space
  • Forward sail locker/storage compartment

CONSTRUCTION

Design made following European Directive requirements and according to CE certification

  • ISO 12215 certified structure
  • Balsa sandwich infused hull
  • Vacuum infused structural inner liner (Fabric - resin) bonded to the hull
  • Deck in glass fiber/balsa wood sandwich infusion, with Teak decking throughout
  • Cast iron keel attached with bolts and bonded stainless steel backplate

  • Pearl Grey Hull

Her teak decks carry through the entire vessel, from her cockpit to her bow. A single step at the chainplates elevates the foredeck, and the hull extends past the deck to form a large, stable toe rail for moving around under way with ease and safety. Starting at the bow, her large forward sail locker can store fenders, lines and extra sails and has additional built-in shelves with drawers for storing small items such as spares winch handles and blocks. A ladder allows easy access, and the large Lewmar flush mounted deck hatch offers easy access to the storage space. Walking aft, a large sun pad is on the forward end of the cabin top, with its own Bimini allowing for ample shade at anchor. Copious amounts of room exist behind the helms, with a large swim platform that lowers to the water level with steps allowing for easy use of this amazing area. The area is large enough for 2 chairs as well, if one wishes to relax with more comfort. There is a garage inside of the transom capable of holding an 8' dinghy, which is an excellent solution compared to davits or wrestling the tender onto the foredeck. There is also access to the garage via three deck hatches across the aft deck, which make it simple to grab lines and fenders

A large cockpit which was well thought out is key on any boat. Starting Aft, we have twin helm stations, with motor and furler controls on the starboard helm. Twin 12" Zeus3S B&G MFD's at each helm allow for easy navigation, and thanks to the Beneteau Ship Control system, all of the boats lights, gauges and Wi-Fi controls are accessible at either helm. Canting foot braces at each helm are very nice when the boat is hard on the wind and provide an excellent platform under sail Twin Harken powered winches in front of each helm (4 total) encourage shorthanded sailing and make maneuvering extremely simple. All of the control lines are led aft to these winches, and the in-mast furler is simple and easy to use. Line lockers beneath the benches keep everything in order and stowed when not in use. The twin custom teak varnished tables in the cockpit raise and lower with the touch of a button and allow for easy access to the (2) guest seating areas Twin sun pads on either side of the companionway are an excellent place to be when passage making, and the spray hood offers protection keeps the wind and spray. A full cockpit enclosure is fitted, allowing even more protection from the sun or bugs at anchor.

Manufacturers Provided Descriptions

The latest design from the desk of Biscontini Yacht Design, The Oceanis Yacht 54 marries the Americas cup experience of designer Roberto Biscontini with the svelte and sleek interior design from Lorenzo Argento, who has contributed directly to the success of Wally, CNB and Swan. Taking several design cues from the First 53, the Oceanis 54 yacht adds a sophisticated touch to the proven platform and pedigree of Beneteau Oceanis Yachts.

The two architects behind this free-flowing, wonderfully nimble 54-footer are Roberto Biscontini and Lorzenzo Argento, whose creation paves the way for a new generation of high-end cruisers that optimize cockpit and interior layouts without any sacrifices to performance, practicality, or comfort.

Her "Yacht" designation is not simply a moniker; it is apparent as you immediately step on board. Her teak decks are the first give away, along with the wide side decks allowing for easy transit throughout the boat. Walking forward through the cockpit, her custom solid teak varnished tables have electric motors to adjust the height, ensuring that the space in the cockpit is maximized. In their lowest mode, there is a cushion which is placed on the table and allows a sunbed on either side of the cockpit.
