Tricat 30 Performance 2020 version: fast cruising, very fast!

Already built in 10 units, the Tricat 30 comes with a Performance version. A regatta version which also remains very suitable for cruising.

The idea, like all good ideas, came from a meeting between Marc, an experienced sports multihull racer, and the TRICAT Shipyard .

" We had already thought about optimising the TRICAT 30 PERFORMANCE with a new rigging and asymmetrical daggerboards, combined with a functional, modern interior with a sleek design combining comfort and lightness. Marc challenged us to make sure his TRICAT 30 PERFORMANCE would be fast in all conditions and all points of sail and capable of competing with the best trimarans in the category. He also helped us by allowing us to exchange ideas with his friend Martin Fisher, a world specialist in flying multihulls and designer for the Italian America's Cup challenge. From these exchanges was born a "Custom" version using Decision 35 daggerboards adapted to the TRICAT 30 and inclined, served by a set of North sails worthy of the best racing trimarans in order to provide maximum power. It's a real partnership in the on-water development of the boat that we have had with Marc, whom we thank warmly. "

In spite of the sanitary situation, TRICAT managed to get this superb boat out before the summer with a reasonable delay, thus allowing to validate these spectacular performance improvements while keeping a great ease of use. This TRICAT 30 PERFORMANCE has not gone unnoticed and will be on the starting line in several regattas next season.

All the new TRICAT 30 PERFORMANCE boats now benefit from the new lighter interior and asymmetrical daggerboards, but the "inclined daggerboards" version remains a customisation.

The equipment is always "à la carte", thus remaining true to the spirit of the TRICAT 30: customizable. But enough about performance! The TRICAT 30 is above all a category B trimaran , designed for semi-offshore cruising. Due to its design and construction, the TRICAT 30 offers great stability and high cruising speeds at sea.

When cruising, the trimaran allows you to enjoy a very large leisure area at anchor (about 60 m²), but also thanks to its shallow draft to sail as close as possible to the coast and to offer you the possibility to run aground without constraints.

The interior of the TRICAT 30 will seduce you with its living space identical to that of a 30-foot monohull and its numerous stowage spaces that provide you with all the necessary comfort during your cruises.

Another strong point of the boat: her raised saloon and her very high luminosity, which is rare for a trimaran . The TRICAT 30 can be folded afloat, allowing you to take up the space of an 11-metre monohull!

The tenth TRICAT 30 is currently being built and will sail in Saint-Malo . There is still time to book yours for the summer of 2021!

Location de bateaux Tricat

  Le chantier naval Tricat, plus ancien constructeur de trimaran Français, compte plus de 140 bateaux construits à ce jour et une gamme complète de trimarans transportables et repliables de 20 à 30 pieds. Antoine Houdet, responsable du chantier naval Tricat, est issu de la course au large et de la régate et cumule plus de 50 000 Milles sur l’eau en multicoque comme en monocoque. En 1988, il dessine un trimaran sportif moderne, le TRICAT 22. Celui-ci se caractérise par sa vitesse, ses sensations maximales avec plus de stabilité pour la sécurité et une capacité de charge supérieure. Rencontrant un vif succès, il crée en 2003 le chantier naval TRICAT afin de produire et commercialiser ce nouveau trimaran. En 2006, l'équipe crée le TRICAT 25, trimaran de croisière familiale qui permet de toucher un public plus large. Il est décliné en version sport en 2008. Les trimarans Tricat se distinguent par leur rapidité. Moins courante que la location de catamaran, la location de trimaran de plaisance est tout aussi agréable. Ce sont des bateaux très stables, au style convivial, bien équipés, facile à manoeuvrer et offrant un design unique. Le cockpit d'un Tricat est grand, ainsi il est possible de naviguer en famille sans se gêner. Aujourd’hui, la gamme proposée par Tricat est cohérente et les futurs locataires peuvent choisir en fonction de son usage, le trimaran qu'il leur faut. En effet, il est tout autant possible d'opter pour un trimaran de course que pour un trimaran de plaisance grâce à la diversité des modèles que propose le constructeur Tricat.

The Tricat 25 Evolution, a foldable and transportable trimaran

The Tricat 25 Evolution is the latest addition to the Tricat shipyard. This 7.70 metre long transportable trimaran has the particularity of folding up from 5.50 metres wide when sailing to 2.40 metres in transportable format. You will be able to discover it during the Grand Pavois which starts tomorrow.

A cleverly designed exterior

One might think that it was modelled on tricat 25 but only the central hull has been made from the same mold, albeit with a few modifications. On the outside, the folding principle remains the same, but carbon connecting arms and new floats profoundly alter the silhouette of the Tricat 25 Évolution . In addition to an aesthetic evolution, the shipyard also took the opportunity to add power to the trimaran . The sail plan has also been modified, giving it a more elegant appearance.

On the hull side, weight and rigidity have been taken care of by using a carbon-epoxy sandwich for the linkage arms, vacuum-infused like the central hull and floats. The Tricat 25 Évolution can be folded and transported without disassembly. The arms pivot aft, allowing the boat to fold.

Inside, the standard cockpit can accommodate up to 6 people, with plenty of storage space for a pleasant life on board . This is a spacious trimaran . Outside, the Tricat 25 is equipped with trampoline-covered decks. Last but not least, it has a shallow draught (20 cm), enabling it to get close to beaches.

This fast, lightweight trimaran is built from recyclable or low-impact materials, and designed in collaboration with Roland Jourdain's company Kaïros.

A layout that favours family cruising

Inside, there's a large double berth with two side berths for two more people. This trimaran is perfect for a family for a weekend or a week's sailing. The Tricat 25 Évolution also features a large interior saloon and galley area. In addition to electricity, solar panels help save energy.

Over the first weekend in July, trimaran builder Tricat organized a friendly get-together of owners. The event was logically held at home, in southern Brittany, France, where the shipyard is based, just north of Vannes.

The event was logically held at home, in southern Brittany, France, where the shipyard is based, just north of Vannes. Antoine Houdet, Tricat’s founder and CEO, told us a little more: “ Around forty people sailed on the 12 trimarans that came. Every one of the brand’s models were represented, with the Tricat 6.90, our most recent model, predominating. [The yard has been building trimarans since 2002 -Ed.] For two days, we sailed a series of courses in the Gulf of Morbihan and the Bay of Quiberon, stopping each day for a pleasant lunch. We got to check out “the B side” of the Conleau peninsula during an atypical, though voluntary, beaching of the fleet, right in front of Vannes’ SRV Yacht Club, who welcomed us for dinner on the Saturday evening. ”
