Aside from some delays caused by freighter traffic and weather, the 25th annual St. Clair River Classic was a roaring success, as a couple of dozen offshore race boats delivered the goods Sunday on the St. Clair River in Michigan. It was the fifth OPA race of the season, and the fourth collaboration with Powerboat P1 in its APBA Offshore Championship Series.

Three boats turned out for the series’ Class One USA competition: Victory Team (with Salem Al Adidi and Eisa Al Ali ), Miss Geico (with Steve Curtis and Miles Jennings ) and 222 Offshore Racing (with Darren Nicholson and Giovanni Carpitella ). The Victory and Miss Geico teams were racing for the first time since both of their boats flipped at the July 7 meet in Sarasota, FL. The St. Clair race was won by the Victory Team , in a thrilling bout that saw them battling 222 Offshore Racing , which had prevailed in Sarasota. Miss Geico came in third.

In the Super Cat class, NZ-11 Pro Floors Racing racked up another win for the season, repeating its first-place showing after taking the checkered flag at the season-opening Cocoa Beach race, and second-place finishes at the Lake of the Ozarks and Sarasota. The New Zealand team (with owner/driver Wayne Valder and throttleman Grant Bruggemann ) are currently leading the class in high points. WHM Racing, Broadco and Performance Boat Center/Jimmy John’s finished in second, third and fourth place. Competitor  M-CON rolled over about halfway through the Super Cat skirmish; team members  Tyler Miller and Tyson Garvin escaped the 40′ Skater safely.

Super Stock boats put on another great performance, with S-8 CR Racing (with Casey Boaz and Rob Unnerstall ) enjoying a substantial lead for most of the race to finish on top. Performance Boat Center/Auto Alert, featuring Rusty Williams and Myrick Coil , finished second, and  Gary Ballough and Lorne Leibel in FJ Propeller  came in third place.

The Dubai-based Victory Team will commence a five-discipline 2019 title assault in Saudi Arabia this week.

Four-time world champion Alex Carella from Italy and Ahmed Al Hameli will represent the team in F1H2o as it heads into its fifth season of competing in the World Championship.

Carella and Al Hameli will want to put behind a 2018 season that saw the team end in seventh with 27 points.

HE Huraiz Bin Huraiz, Chairman of the Board of Directors commented:

We have seen the ups and downs of racing over a period of time. Those experiences have only given us the will to learn and do better with each season. We’ve started testing early this year and I am confident the drivers from Victory Team will be among the early challengers this year.

In F4-s, Victory Team will have an unchanged driver line-up of Ahmed Al Fahim and Ali Al Lanjawi.

Heading into the UIM F2 World Championship season in a few months will be Mansoor Al Mansoori once again, with the opening round in Kaunas, Lithuania followed by races in Tonsberg, Norway and Ribadouro, Portugal.

Victory Team’s Kevin Reiterer, a new signing from last season, will start the defence of his world title in the Ski Division GP1 category at the opener in Portimao, Portugal (May 10-12), followed by stops in Olbia, Italy (June 1-2), China (October 18-20), Amaravati, India (November 12-14) and the season finale in Sharjah (December 17-20).

After a successful foray that included the Victory Team’s first-ever venture across the Atlantic Ocean at the annual Super Boat International in Key West, World Champions Salem Al Adidi and Eisa Al Ali will compete in the APBA Championships Series over 6 races, Bin Huraiz commented on their Offshore Racing:

Last season was an eye-opener for the team on the whole experience of racing in the USA. As a world-class unit, we learned a lot of lessons and these experiences will come into play as we head to the same venues this season. This year is the ‘Year of Tolerance’ as declared by our leaders and I can feel the sense of purpose shown by our drivers and crew in further stamping our class across the Atlantic Ocean.

Making their debut in the world of water sports way back in 1986, Victory Team tasted its bit of action in the Class 1 category in 1992 while entering two boats in the guest appearance category.

But from 1993, the men in blue flew the flag for Dubai and the UAE picking up a record 14 Class 1 world crowns till the last one in 2014.

Bin Huraiz concluded:

Once again we are prepared for a challenging and busy season ahead. As representatives of Dubai and the UAE, our drivers and riders will be travelling to various parts of the world as true ambassadors of the team. We are a professional set-up and each one knows what is expected of him to ensure Victory Team carries forward its success.

E1 Owner Marc Anthony Introduces E1 Team Miami Pilots For 2024 Season

As anticipation grows for the upcoming debut season of the all-new the Union Internationale Motonautique E1 World Championship —the first and only all-electric powerboat racing series that features the electric-powered hydrofoil raceboat called the RaceBird—in Saudi Arabia early next month, more of the team lineups are starting to shake out.

New UIM E1 World Championship owner Marc Anthony recently introduced his E1 Team Miami pilots for the 2024 season, which starts in early February in Saudi Arabia. Photos courtesy E1 Series.

Yesterday, E1 Team Miami , the recently established team under the leadership of Grammy Award-winning artist Marc Anthony, announced in a press release the two pilots who are going to be racing for the team during the inaugural the 2024 E1 World Championship, which kicks off in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, February 2-3, and continues with six race sites throughout Europe before concluding with a spectacular finale on the globally recognized waters of Victoria Harbour in Hong Kong, November 9-10.

Being operated by the renowned Victory Team , the Dubai-based powerboat racing heavyweight, Team Miami announced the inclusion of six-time powerboat world champion Erik Stark from Sweden, and world and eight-time national champion professional stand-up watercraft racer Anna Glennon from the United States to its starting lineup for the first season.

“I am excited to introduce my E1 drivers and proud to have Erik Stark and Anna Glennon as members of our team,” E1 Team Miami co-owner Marc Anthony said in the release. “They both have impressive careers and amazing work ethics. I am proud of their achievements in the field and we are more than ready to bring revolution to the water and offer the fans a show they’ve never seen before.”

Stark, who finished the 2023 UIM F1H2O World Championship in second place overall behind fellow Swede Jonas Andersson, joins E1 Team Miami as part of the Victory Team ’s partnership. Stark is a professional powerboat racer and multi-time world champion with 23-plus years of experience driving boats. He started boat racing at age 12 and is the most decorated Swedish powerboat racer of all time, according to the release. Stark, who has been driving for the Dubai-based Victory team since 2019, holds the world record for winning four consecutive world championship titles in F2 powerboat racing and has been awarded the King’s Jubilee medal.

Glennon, who will be racing alongside Stark, is no stranger to the international stage, entering the new E1 Series as a world champion and eight-time U.S. and Canadian champion. Originally from Overland Park, Kan., Glennon learned to ride stand-up Jet Skis at her family’s lake home at Missouri’s Lake of the Ozarks and later moved to Lake Havasu City, Ariz., to continue her training in the “Personal Watercraft Capital of the World.” In 2013, first full season of racing, she won her first national championship. To date, Glennon is the only woman in International Jet Sports Boating Association history to win the Men’s Classic Two-Stroke world championship title.

Jet Ski-racing champion Anna Glennon of the U.S. is excited to be joining accomplished Swedish boat racer Erik Stark on the 2024 E1 Team Miami.

According to the release, the two pilots will receive expert guidance from the internationally acclaimed Victory Team, which will be leading the technical and operational aspects of the team. In collaboration with the franchise that is being built around Miami’s rich history of powerboat racing and marine mobility not to mention the famed city’s glitz and glamour, Victory Team, which boasts a 30-year history in watercraft racing with an impressive collection of 25 world titles, is contributing a dedicated team principal, two highly skilled mechanics, a performance engineer and Stark as its designated pilot.

Marussia f1 team return to russia for moscow city racing, andy webb, marussia ceo: we have seen the strength of that support again in the last few days following the very pleasing announcement of our new powertrain partnership with scuderia ferrari..

Max Chilton, Marussia F1 Team MR02

Max Chilton, Marussia F1 Team MR02

Despite the three-week gap between Rounds 9 and 10 of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship® the Marussia F1 Team has had little time to draw breath, embarking on a series of promotional events to reward the loyal support of its fans.

This week, while the race team conduct the Young Driver Test at Silverstone, the demonstration team are heading ‘home’ to Russia for their second year of participation in ‘Moscow City Racing’.

The event takes place on 20 and 21 July, with the demonstration runs scheduled for Sunday 21 July on the streets surrounding the Kremlin and the ‘paddock’ located close to Red Square.

Max Chilton, Marussia F1 Team

Visitors will also be given the opportunity to enter the inner-sanctum - the Paddock - to soak up the atmosphere and see for themselves the intricacies of Formula 1 design and engineering.

Aside from his on-track duties, Max will participate in a range of promotional activities, taking time out to mingle with the Russian fans during autograph sessions and photo opportunities.

Supporting the Marussia F1 Team over the weekend are main event partner Liga Stavok along with additional partners Instaforex, QNet and RBC.

Max Chilton: “There have been quite a few ‘firsts’ for me in my debut season in Formula One - new racetracks, new cities, meeting new fans - and Moscow City Racing will be my very first visit to Russia. I can’t wait. From what I hear from previous events, the demonstration runs are a fantastic spectacle and the crowd is huge and very supportive.

That’s nice, because we are the only Anglo-Russian team and it is good to keep building on their love of Formula 1 before Russia gets its very own race next year in Sochi. I’m really excited about making the trip and I hope to meet as many of the Russian fans as possible, when I’m not driving through their streets!”

Andy Webb, CEO: “The Marussia F1 Team are very excited to be returning to Russia to participate in the Moscow City Racing event for a second successive year. As the only Anglo-Russian team in Formula One, this event has become a very important date in our Team calendar, as we continue our determined efforts to bring more of F1 to Russia and more of Russia to F1.

This is our opportunity to get closer to the fans and for them to see our car and drivers right on their doorstep, not just on the TV. Our drivers Jules Bianchi and Max Chilton are enjoying a flying start to their exciting debut seasons and the Marussia F1 Team really is going from strength to strength now, making good progress towards its long-term ambitions.

We look forward to a fantastic crowd in Moscow and to expressing our thanks for all the incredible support we receive ‘back home’ in Russia. We have seen the strength of that support again in the last few days following the very pleasing announcement of our new powertrain partnership with Scuderia Ferrari. It seems the fans share our optimism for the future of the Marussia F1 Team.”
