The boat trip was very relaxing and there was plenty of space to sit/lie around. Our first stop was in the sea where we got off and swam for a bit. Then we had a homemade lunch by the chef which was delicious. We then moved onto our next stop where we got to swim in the sea again and got a choice to do water sports. We stayed at each location for a good amount of time! Then we returned back to the starting point! The drinks offered on board were cheap and we had a great day! Definitely recommend! All in all, we had a brilliant day with this family run company on their lovely comfortable boat with plenty of shade. The home cooked food was a standout feature of the trip though I would recommend the delicious fish over the very small skewers of lamb when you make your choice in advance. Fortunately, I had chosen this but those who chose the lamb definitely had food envy! But there were so many other dishes on the huge mezze provided that the main choice paled into insignificance! You will definitely not go hungry and we didn’t need much more that evening!! We went to two different bays and our four grandchildren (who are all confident swimmers) loved jumping into the water from the side of the boat. If we were going again (and we’d definitely like to as we come regularly to North Cyprus where our son has a house) and having a private charter, we would request that we go to two quieter bays. The ones we went to were near places with water sports and we weren’t really interested in hiring jet skis, parasailing etc. If we wanted to do that we could have driven to those bays and accessed these things from the beach. We just wanted to enjoy the boat, the water and do some snorkelling. The latter was made more difficult by the constant presence of jet skis and other boats coming and going so we couldn’t really relax enough to snorkel. Personally I spent my time in the water looking out for the safety of our grandchildren. But I guess other groups love the additional benefits of a variety of activities so it must be difficult to please all of the people all of the time. We still loved it! I would also recommend that, whilst I appreciate that it is necessary to have certain ‘rules’ that customers need to abide by, the email sent out the night before our trip, and the initial talk given after we boarded, came across as very strict and we were a bit worried that all the rules were going to ruin our day. The reality was much more relaxed than the initial impression given so would recommend that the email especially is toned down a bit. I imagine that some guests have tried to smuggle their own alcohol on or been rowdy and disrespectful of their beautiful boat, but maybe family groups such as ours could be given the benefit of the doubt so that there’s a more welcoming first impression. And I think maybe it should be ok to take on unopened bottles of normal drinking water especially with young children who need to stay hydrated in the heat. Alternatively, free drinking water could be provided? That said, in general the drinks were not overpriced and we enjoyed a bottle of Prosecco to get our trip off to a good start, beers with our lunch, and soft drinks including peach tea and home-made lemonade for the children and those who were driving. But I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect free access to drinking water in such a hot climate, either by providing it or allowing people to take their own. But all in all, we had a wonderful day and would highly recommend this company for a great day on the water. Read more Written 30 August 2023

Serhat and his lovely mum, were more than acomodating for our family from the minute we stepped on the boat. The boat itself was beautiful and clean, and we had the entire boat to ourselves! We stopped at a couple of lovely spots, including one where there was lots of water sports. The lunch that was provided by Serhat and his mum was outstanding, all homemade (including barbecued chicken) and we were truly impressed. We booked a private trip for 5 persons so had the entire yacht to ourselves. Warmly welcomed on board by the captain, Serhat, and his mother, we sailed out of Kyrenia harbour on a glorious hot and sunny morning. Sailing west we had our first stop for a swim and snorkel, then on to our second stop adjacent to Escape water sports for parasailing and jet skiing. We then enjoyed the most wonderful lunch, all freshly prepared and cooked on board. We’ve eaten in many of the best restaurants on the island and I can honestly say none of the food has been as good as our lunch on Vela. Ice cold drinks available throughout the day, good internet, connect your Spotify or similar to the on board music system, all great. Lovely chairs and lounge areas, plenty of shade for those who prefer it but also lots of open space for sun worshippers. Do not miss a trip with Vela yachting. Do not be tempted by any of the others unless you want to be packed with dozens and dozens of others, most of them drunk, and with loud music. With civil engineering work nearby you need to get down to the base of the castle tower from one of the car parks above. Full instructions provided by Vela when you make a booking. This ensured a very comfortable day out on this lovely boat with the Capt & the Boss (his Mum). Facilities on board included excellent WiFi & music system via Spotify. Plenty of sunbeds in the sun / shade. On board full bar service. Topped off by a beautiful lunch round a table which could cater for our party. Our lunch was superb & plentiful prepared by the Capt & his Mum. Both worked very hard to ensure we had a great day , which we did. Cruise took us to Escape beach, then further up the coast before we spent the last hour in the cove near Lords Palace Hotel. Duration of cruise nearly 6 hours so a full day out. Onboard experience.

Distinctive and elegant, Vela’s interior offers a comfortable setting with a generous dose of traditional Indonesian craftsmanship. Vela's interiors, envisioned by a Parisian interior designer, are bright with a dash of colour. Chic accents include ceramics from Gaya in Ubud, fabrics hand-dyed with plant-based indigo dye from East Bali and Italian fabrics from Hermès and Dedar Milano.  ​ Each of Vela’s six suites - two master suites above deck and four spacious staterooms below deck, is tastefully appointed with Italian fabrics and furnished with locally produced custom teak furniture sourced from sustainable forestry. En-suite bathrooms are equipped with Philippe Starck fittings and features handmade terracotta produced in Ubud, offset with smooth marble.

Vela’s owners are also the creative forces behind Nirjhara, a luxury resort in Tanah Lot, Bali. You can expect the same eco-chic design ethos onboard the yacht. Rich teak wood contrasts beautifully with the white and cream upholstery and cushions. Huge windows let natural light into the elegant dining room and the lounge, which has a bar and wine cellar. The expansive wooden decks have areas for outdoor dining, as well as large sofas and daybeds for sunbathing and scanning the horizon. There is also a yoga deck where you can do sun salutations or meditate amidst sea breezes.

Vela has six contemporary cabins that can sleep up to 12 guests. Each suite has luxurious teak furnishings, Hermès and Dedar fabrics, and a gorgeous ensuite with marble counters and handmade ceramics. The owner’s suite spans 40 square metres and includes a king-size bed, an oversized bathtub, and a private terrace that offers 180-degree views. The master cabin is 35-square-metres, and like the owner’s suite, it has a king bed, as well as modern conveniences like a 55-inch Smart TV and Sonance ceiling speakers. The four remaining staterooms are peaceful and private sanctuaries with king or twin beds.

Facilities & Services

With 18 crew members onboard, Vela leaves voyagers wanting for nothing. The private chef creates bespoke meals with fresh seafood and local produce. The spa therapists can provide soothing massages and body scrubs in your cabin, on-deck, or on a secluded beach. The activities manager can help you plan exciting excursions like hiking trips and island hopping tours. There is also plenty of equipment onboard for fun and games like stand-up paddle boards, kayaks, Seabobs, and wakeboards.

The 40m/131'3" motor yacht 'Vela' (ex. Mayacca) was built by Broward in the United States at their Saugatuck, MI shipyard. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of Broward and she was last refitted in 2007.

Vela has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests in 5 suites. She is also capable of carrying up to 6 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Range & Performance

Built with a aluminium hull and aluminium superstructure, with teak decks, she benefits from a semi-displacement hull to provide exceptional seakeeping and impressive speeds. Vela comfortably cruises at 13 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 15 knots. Her low draft of 1.9m/6'3" makes her primed for accessing shallow areas and cruising close to the shorelines. Her water tanks store around 8,327 Litres of fresh water. She was built to ABS (American Bureau of Shipping) classification society rules.
