Viking Yachts 90 Enclosed Bridge

viking 90 enclosed bridge

The Viking team has just announced that the new 90 Convertible , along with its siblings the 90 Enclosed Bridge and 90 Skybridge, will become the flagship models in its sportfishing yacht range. During a dealer meeting and one day before the excitement of the 2021 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show begins, Viking made huge waves with the new model announcement. It was this same boat show in 2014 when the 92 Convertible made its world premiere, so it’s only fitting that its predecessor, the 90C, was announced here as well.

The 92 Convertible will be retired with many well-known vessels built over the years including the FA-LA-ME, DOUBLE BARREL, MAKARA, and others. A total of twenty-one 92's were built over the years.

The 90 Enclosed Bridge is the culmination of everything Viking has learned, developed, and improved over the last decade. With countless hours fishing at sea and utilizing all of the exceptional owner feedback received, everything from the hull design, the equipment on board, and the layout of the yacht are perfectly dialed in for the ultimate offshore fishing experience. The new Viking 90 will be the pinnacle battle-wagon for sportfish enthusiasts that sets the standard for all others.

“We’ve taken all the incredible qualities of the 92 – the interior layout, the accommodations, the style, the amenities – and merged them with greater performance, technology and versatility,” says Viking President and CEO Pat Healey. “The 92 was the Bentley. This is the Ferrari.”

“I can tell already that our Viking 80 owners are going to love the new 90,” said Rich Lucas, Viking Brand Manager for SI Yachts. “This is truly a fitting ‘heir to the throne’ for Viking.”

For pricing, availability, and more information on the new Viking 90 Enclosed Bridge, please contact us through the form on this page, by calling our main office at 1-718-984-7676, or by email at [email protected]

Here are several highlights of the new 90EB :

  • 6-Stateroom, 7-Head Layout
  • 224 Square Foot Cockpit
  • MTU Series 2000 V16 M96L 2,635MHP (Option)
  • Seakeeper 35 Gyro Stabilization
  • Full-Beam Master Stateroom

The Cockpit

As with all Vikings, the cockpit is without a doubt designed for serious business on the water. With a beam of over 23-feet, the cockpit on the 90 Enclosed Bridge has ample room for maneuvering around the angler and other crew during an intense battle. It spans a full 224 square feet.

The focal point of the teak cockpit is the Release Marine Fighting Chair, rocket launcher, or table. There is a massive 203-gallon transom live-well/fishbox, as well as a pair of full-length 103 gallon in-deck fish boxes. There are multiple flush-mounted rod holders, frozen bait storage, and tackle storage. There is a dedicated space for a Seakeeper 35 that is water-tight. With the Seakeeper turned on, trolling or bottom fishing has never been more stable and enjoyable.

Your guests will also appreciate the Viking signature dual mezzanine seating that is a few steps up from the cockpit. This shaded, elevated seating area is also air-conditioned and provides stadium-quality views of all of the action. Portside, there is a L-shaped aft-facing lounge and a teak table. Starboard side, Viking has built in a hub for grilling, and icemaker or refrigeration, depending upon the owner’s needs.

The mezzanine also provides access to the engine room and crew quarters via a centerline access hatch.

The Enclosed Bridge & Helm Station

A staircase leads from the cockpit to the enclosed bridge aft deck where a control station is found starboard side for excellent visibility when backing down on a fish. There is a two-person seat portside on the aft deck as well. A door from the aft deck leads to the spacious enclosed bridge, as does an interior staircase found in the salon.

Sportfish owners have for years made convertible-style yachts the most popular because of the openness of the helm and the visibility all around your vessel. Some owners who like the comfort and versatility of an enclosed bridge may opt for the 90EB, especially if fishing in colder climates. A Stidd captain's chair sits behind the centerline helm station, while two loveseats are port and starboard near the captain.

The helm console itself is ergonomically designed for easy reach of controls. The stainless steel steering wheel, single lever controls, and 3 displays give the captain complete control of the yacht. All electronics are installed by AME, Viking subsidiary marine electronics company, for unparalleled quality control.

Salon & Galley

Stepping inside the salon doors, it becomes immediately apparent that Viking does not build your ordinary sportfishing yacht. Viking’s new 90EB is equivalent to the finest luxury motor yachts on the market and offers everything needed for extended fishing (or cruising) adventures. The interior volume is abundantly noticeable and the ambiance of Viking’s décor sets the perfect mood.

As you enter the salon, portside is a large couch that wraps around with two cocktail tables and additional chairs that creates a wonderful space to enjoy conversation with friends. A 65-inch flatscreen television sits across from the couch, perfect for watching the big game while catching big game! Owners will appreciate the stunning horizontal grain natural walnut wood that provides warmth and style to the interior. Viking does offer customization opportunities equivalent to many custom boat builders.

A large, well-equipped galley with an abundance of storage and counter space is found starboard. Viking equips every model with only the highest quality refrigeration, freezers, and cooking appliances. Corian countertops come in multiple colors to match your décor and there are 5 barstools seated around it. Across from the galley portside is the formal dining area. This area consists of a beautiful teak dining table and chairs for 6 guests.

Accommodations

The Viking 90 will feature 5 guest staterooms each with their own en suite head, plus an additional crew stateroom, with head, aft of the engine room. The master stateroom is placed midship and spans the full beam of the yacht. As anticipated, the master suite on a Viking of this size is exceptionally well-suited for extended fishing trips with ample storage and comfortable accommodations. The king-sized berth is centered in the cabin with nightstands on each side, a seating area, and a massive walk-in closet. His-and-hers heads are featured.

There are essentially two VIP suites, one forward in the bow and one just forward of the master stateroom. Each VIP suite has a queen-sized berth and much of the same storage space as the master. Two additional guest cabins feature either a double bed or side-by-side bunks.

Engines In The 90EB

Power options on the 90 Enclosed Bridge include the base package – CAT C32A 1925MHP engines – or the preferred optional package – MTU Series 2000 V16 M96L 2635MHP engines which were on the 92. Viking is also giving owners the option of CAT C32B 2433MHP should the owner want to stick with Caterpillar engines.

For cruising with multiple guests, their luggage, and additional fuel, the Viking experts at SI Yachts suggest going with the MTU option. It’s expected that the 90C will cruise around 30 knots and have a WOT somewhere near 35 knots. More specific speed numbers and fuel burn will be updated once the 90EB has been fully tested.

Why Did Viking Choose To Build A 90?

“Constantly looking to the future, we embarked more than a year ago on this design,” explains Pat. “It came at a time when international regulations would be taking effect that required Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) in the engine rooms of yachts with a ‘load line length’ greater than 24 meters.

“Understanding that suitable engine and SCR technology for this market was unavailable, the U.S. Coast Guard announced in March a three-year suspension of the regulations in North America. But the development of the 90, which does not require SCR, was already well underway and in 15 months we’ll proudly present the next flagship of the Viking sportfishing fleet.”

Stay up to date with SI Yachts as more becomes available on the 90 Enclosed Bridge. The 90C will make its world premiere at the 2023 Miami Yacht Show.

Merritt 88 Skybridge Reviewed

Merritt 88 Skybridge

The Merritt family has been building boats since 1955, and Roy Merritt has been hands-on at the yard ever since he was a boy. Under his leadership, Merritt’s Boat & Engine Works, located in the sleepy beachside community of Pompano Beach, Florida, has grown from a mom-and-pop boatyard to become one of the world’s legendary builders of custom sport-fishing vessels. Its latest build is Hull No. 110, an 88-foot skybridge—a first for Merritt’s—which is designed as a globe-traveling sportfisherman. Meet the new Reel Tight .

Other builders have proven the concept and benefits of a skybridge design, which is a conventional flybridge layout atop an enclosed bridge. For long-distance travel, it’s hard to beat since the lower station is not only luxurious in layout, but is fully climate controlled and out of the elements. When it’s time to fish, the captain heads up the ladder to the open flybridge above. With its additional electronics plus 360-degree views, not to mention the elevation above the water, this is definitely advantageous for those who choose to spend their days chasing mammoth marlin and tuna.

Merritt 88 Skybridge

The enclosed bridge has Merritt styling and a classic teak interior with a full yacht-grade helm and electronics with an L-shaped lounge and granite-topped table. To port is a stone countertop with a wet bar, two refrigerator drawers and four storage drawers—all finished in Merritt’s satin-varnished teak. In essence, the enclosed bridge becomes the second story of this sport-fish yacht and a place where guests can enjoy the views while underway or the fishing crew can strategize without interrupting the conversations in the main salon one deck below.

At the helm, all vessel control systems are within easy reach, including the MTU engine gauges and the ship’s system controls. There are four large screens to display the various navigation and fishing information with two 22-inch and two 19-inch Seatronx sunlight-viewable monitors. The screens display the chartplotter and radar as well as Furuno black-box cartography, Chirp sounder, multibeam wide-angle 3D sonar sounder, omnidirectional sonar and FLIR thermal camera.

Merritt 88 Skybridge

Heading down to the salon, the space is open and inviting with a U-shaped settee to port, another to starboard and a large television monitor in the aft corner, which can also display navigational or sonar inputs from the electronics. A dinette is to starboard across from the galley. There are six Sub-Zero refrigerator drawers for this boat, another nod to the owner’s plans for long-range travel and fishing in more than a few “off-the-beaten-path” destinations.

Merritt 88 Skybridge

Forward of the galley is the pantry/electrical-equipment control room to port and the stairway to access the staterooms and the crew quarters with a private captain’s quarters, two bunks and a shared head. The master stateroom is to port with a king berth and en suite head, and a guest stateroom with over-under bunks is forward of the owners’ space. A laundry closet with a washer and dryer, a guest stateroom, also with over-under bunks, and a shared head with the port guest stateroom is to starboard. The VIP with an en suite head has a queen island berth with stowage, two cedar-lined closets and overhead outboard stowage.

Outside, the 88 Skybridge has a mezzanine with an L-shaped lounge to port with a teak armrest on the end. A flip-up lid houses controls for the exterior air conditioning as well as the stereo and security system. A high-low table creates a social lounge with the flybridge overhang providing respite from the sun. There is the standard mix of refrigerated and freezer stowage in the mezzanine, plus engine room access on centerline. The teak cockpit has a Bluewater Chairs unlimited-class fighting chair with a rocket launcher; a Seakeeper gyrostabilizer is also in the deck just ahead of the chair’s pedestal. The lazarette provides access to all steering components, plus bilge and livewell pumps. An oversize tuna door is included to help boat the big ones.

Merritt 88 Skybridge

The engine room is home to a pair of 2,600 hp MTU V16 2000 engines and twin 40-kilowatt Kohler generators to supply power for hotel loads while away from the dock. Cruising along at 1,850 rpm at a 71 percent load and making 30 knots, Reel Tight burns 150 gallons per hour. Bumping the rpm to 2,100 yields a fast cruise of 36 knots. At wide open, the Merritt 88 Skybridge has a top hop of 41.5 knots in fishing-ready condition—impressive considering its 153,000-pound displacement. That performance is due in large part to the extensive use of carbon fiber, Corecell and advanced epoxy in its construction, making this boat not only stronger but also lighter and faster than its predecessors.

To port is a fully equipped helm station with cockpit visibility for pelagic battles.  Also, the aft enclosed bridge window was custom designed to lower electrically for improved visibility and communication purposes.  There is additional aft facing seating outside for spectators and a nine-rod holder aft bridge deck rail.  Tower steps are accessible from either side and the captain can run from the tower with full navigation and communication systems.

The engine room is the nerve center of ASIAN PEARL and the beneficiary of meticulous maintenance and huge upgrades over the years. Both ZF transmissions were completely rebuilt and finished.  Both ONAN generators were replaced and have low hours: Stbd 415 Port: 1300. Where to see the barge carrying a pedestrian bridge on the Erie Canal near Rochester

Portrait of Victoria E. Freile

A large pedestrian bridge bound for Buffalo is traveling across New York via barge on the Erie Canal this week. And by the weekend, it should be moving through Monroe County.

For the last week, the 266-foot bridge is traveling down the 200-year old waterway on two barges, towed by tugboats operated by the Albany County-based Carver Companies. Crews are using a tug-and-barge system to move the bridge west, across 34 locks.

"This is an exciting moment," said Erie Canal Corp. spokesman Shane Mahar. "The Erie Canal is uniquely New York, and here it is connecting and capable of moving cargo just as it did 200 years ago."

The pedestrian bridge, which left Albany last week on July 5, is expected to arrive in Buffalo by Tuesday, July 16.

The bridge this fall will be installed in Ralph Wilson Park and will span Interstate 190, connecting the lower west side of Buffalo to the newly renovated park of more than 100 acres. Significant construction is still needed on the bridge once installed. It is expected to open to the public in 2026.

The barge stopped for the night Friday in Palmyra. Exact times for its arrival in most areas are not known.

The most boats ever will compete in the 100th Bayview Yacht Club race to Mackinac Island

Billed on its website as the “world’s longest continuously run long-distance freshwater yacht race,” the 100th Bayview Mackinac Race is set to start Saturday.

A record-setting 334 boats have registered for the 100th year of the race, shattering the record of 316 in 1985 and a huge contrast compared with the 200 boats that raced last year, said David Stoyka, spokesman for the Bayview Yacht Club, which puts on the race.

Bayview Yacht Club says boats start leaving the Black River in Port Huron around 8 a.m. on race day and will continue leaving until around noon. From the Black River, they will proceed up the St. Clair River, under the Blue Water Bridge, into Lake Huron.

The first scheduled start time in Lake Huron is 11:30 a.m., with starts every 10 minutes until approximately 1:30 p.m. The starts may be delayed due to weather conditions.

This year, for the 100th running, the race will follow the original 1925 route and span 204 nautical miles. From the starting point, the boats will head north along the Michigan shoreline, passing south of Bois Blanc Island, sailing west to east at the finish line between Round Island and Mackinac Island, organizers said.

The range of boats are expected to finish in between 30 and 60 hours.

The sailors

Teams at all skill levels have entered the race, which draws competitors from around the world.  The highly skilled racers know they will cross the bow of competitors within inches. Still, there's always risk of a crash with the slightest miscalculation.

"Everybody recognizes this is super intense," said champion sailor  Tim Prophit , 65, of St. Clair Shores, past commodore of Bayview Yacht Club and owner of Fast Tango, a North American 40 sailboat.

The teams are vying for trophies and flags to show their accomplishments.

The J.L. Hudson Trophy is awarded to the boat with the best corrected time in Division I, and the Canadian Club Classic Trophy is awarded to the boat with the best corrected time in Division II.

How can spectators follow the race?

Spectators can go to bycmack.com during the race and click on “RaceTracking” link to watch real-time GPS positioning of all the race boats, or, on your mobile device, download the free app YB Races and select the current race.

Boats will start arriving at Mackinac Island on Sunday afternoon and continue until Monday evening, all dependent upon the wind.

Finishes can be seen from Windermere Point on Mackinac Island at the south end of Main Street.

Sailors who have completed 25 Bayview Mackinac races are called “Old Goats,” according to the club, while those who have completed 50 are called “Grand Rams.”

"Double Goats" are sailors who have completed 25 Bayview Mackinac races and 25 Chicago Yacht Club race to Mackinac races. This year’s Chicago to Mackinac race encountered strong winds in Lake Michigan , snapping some boats’ masts and tossing one sailor overboard. No one was hurt.

Volunteers who have served for 15 years on the Race Committee are honored with the title “Old Forts,” as designated by the Race Committee.

This story includes material from a staff report by former Free Press reporter Phoebe Wall Howard and from the Bayview Yacht Club.

Maybe it was Karma.

Shocking surveillance video captured the moment a would-be teen thief snatched an unsuspecting bystander’s cell phone and made a run for it — only to be stopped dead in his tracks by a bus.

The horrifying footage from Brazil, posted online on X on Saturday, shows the 17-year-old crook eyeballing a 71-year-old man who is talking on his a phone on a Sao Paolo street corner on Friday.

Brazil teen snatches phone.

The teen then lunges and grabs the phone, then dashes off leaving the stunned victim in his tracks.

But the teen, seen wearing shorts, a black t-shirt and a black baseball cap, is then pummeled by a city bus and dragged for several feet as he tried to run across the street.

The grisly video is obscured to shield viewers from what is obviously a gory outcome for the thief.

He was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, the post said.

“Karma is real,” one commenter wrote about the clip.

Quipped another, “I hope the old guy’s phone didn’t break.”

Teen thief runs into the street.

Collin Rugg, the co-owner of Trending Politics, who shared the footage online, wrote on the site that the teenager “didn’t follow the two golden rules: 1. Don’t steal, 2. Look both ways before crossing the street.”

Viking 90 poised to become the next king of large sportfishing yachts.

The evolution of the Viking 90 is an excellent example of how Viking overcomes challenges to continue building a better boat every day. The Viking 92 was a tremendous success, proving that a sportfishing yacht of its size could win consistently on the tournament trail. Viking delivered 21 boats in less than seven years, with owners enjoying the luxury and style of a mega yacht and the sportfishing DNA that only Viking could deliver.

Viking would have continued production of the 92 but not for an international mandate requiring the installation in the 92 of a heavy, bulky and potentially dangerous exhaust-treatment technology called Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR). The SCR systems in the 92 would have increased purchase and operating costs of the boat; added significant weight; reduced performance; hindered accessibility for service; compromised safety; and required additional ventilation and onboard tankage. The technology to scale down SCR to a level where it could be effectively engineered for installation in the 92 simply did not exist yet. Viking fought hard for an extension of an exemption that would give engine manufacturers more time to develop the appropriate SCR systems for this size and class of yacht.

But without enough international support for an extension of the exemption, the mandate went into effect. The U.S. Coast Guard, understanding that suitable engine and SCR technology was unavailable, announced in early 2021 a three-year suspension of the regulations in North America. “By that time, our design and engineering department was well underway with the development of the 90,” says President and CEO Pat Healey. “We were not going to be forced into installing SCR. With the new 90, we invested $20 million to develop a new flagship sportfishing yacht that does not require SCR. It was a costly decision but one that had to be made because it’s the best product for our owners.”

Adapt and Innovate

Viking focused on speed, performance and aesthetics. “To further understand the evolution of the 90 you have to go back to what we’ve done with the Viking 80 in our demo program,” says Pat.

Viking has put tremendous time, resources, engineering and effort into improving the performance of the 80. “Everything from lightweight interior woods to advanced propulsion systems have been developed in anticipation of the 90 – to prove out theories, systems and procedures,” says Pat. “With our last three 80 demos, we’ve gone from a 40.5-knot boat to a 43.5-knot boat, picking up three knots over the course of three different 80s. We’ve been able to make these tremendous strides because we have the best team in the business. The development of the 80 and the 90 are excellent examples of how we can rise to the occasion to adapt and innovate.”

Viking took what it learned from the 92 – and other recent new models – and applied that knowledge into the development of the 90.

“We built 21 of them, and through that process we had quite a few owners, captains and mates give us a lot of feedback,” adds Pat. “We took all that feedback and put it into the 90 to make it one incredible design – and that’s why we’re very excited to show everyone this boat. It’s going to be something special.”

The new flagship utilizes the latest lifting-strake design, a refined driveline and prop pockets along with the advanced propulsion systems. Performance was also optimized through Computational Fluid Dynamics, software that allowed the team to analyze pressure distribution, study trim angle and trim tab effectiveness, and modify strakes and chines to increase running efficiency.

The 90 holds 3,801 gallons of fuel (standard) in four tanks. She’s equipped with the latest technology from stem to stern, “but we also focused on making these systems easier to operate and service,” says Pat.

Viking has taken all the advantages, refinements and improvements in materials and methods we’ve made in previous models and applied them to our new 90, everything from the use of lighter interior materials to the increased use of carbon fiber and Light Resin Transfer Molding.

The 90 also features a streamlined build process for the enclosed bridge and open bridge, saving on weight and improving building efficiency while lowering the overall profile for a sleek visual appeal. To that end, two large insert dams were created, one that gives the deck of the enclosed bridge a flat walking surface and the other that incorporates crown (needed for drainage) in the open bridge. Other notable developments include a one-piece wraparound enclosed bridge windshield that enhances visibility.

Cockpit/Mezzanine

The cockpit measures 224 square feet, with a 203-gallon transom fishbox/live well and a pair of full-length 103-gallon insulated in-deck fishboxes (with refrigeration optional). A single hatch on centerline (with optional electric actuation) provides access to the Seakeeper 35, a watertight design introduced with recent Viking 80 demonstrator boats. The cockpit sole is built with reinforcement for a fighting chair, rocket launcher or table.

There are three aft-facing seating areas between the lower and upper mezzanines. “What we learned from the 92 was that the majority of our owners wanted to be seated so they could look aft – that’s where all the action is on a Viking sportfishing boat,” says Viking Design Manager David Wilson. The cockpit and dual mezzanine bring a slew of features for comfort, visibility and fishability. The business end, which boasts the same fore/aft length of the 92’s cockpit, is also equipped with port and starboard storage lockers under the gunwales for gaffs and other accessories.

The lower observation mezzanine’s centerline lounge seat (with optional air conditioning in the backrest) has excellent visibility aft and direct access to the cockpit. This seating module also holds tackle cabinets on each side. A series of lower mezzanine insulated boxes provide freezer and refrigeration storage. On centerline, you have an engineroom access gate and lid. Outboard, you’ll find storage and cooler boxes in the lower mezzanine steps. Staircases on each side lead to the upper mezzanine. Outboard handrails – each with a pair of welded-on rod holders – help provide safe passage to the area, which is covered by the deckhouse overhang.

The upper mezzanine’s port side is home to an L-shaped aft-facing lounge with standard seat-back air conditioning and a teak table. On the starboard side, there’s a versatile cooking and refreshment hub (with an additional aft-facing seat) that can be personalized to the owner’s liking with a grill and icemaker or refrigerator. The bench seat holds a pull-out drawer for footwear or other types of storage. The armrests in the upper mezzanine seats have integrated storage compartments with friction-hinge lids, and an optional fold-down 43-inch HD TV can be integrated into the aft overhang on centerline. A custom aluminum rail on the mezzanine backrest holds a row of welded-on rod holders, providing a sturdy grabrail for the area without interfering with the view aft.

Salon and Galley

The goal with the 90 was to provide the same high levels of style, luxury, living conveniences and accommodations as the 92 – as well as the same number of staterooms (six) and heads (seven). “Another priority was to continue what we were doing with the 92 and all of our boats – incorporating lighter interior components and finding ways to take weight out of existing materials,” says Interior Design Manager Steve Walker.

An electric-powered sliding door just off centerline to starboard leads to the salon, where you’ll immediately notice a massive U-shaped lounge on the portside that has ample space for several weary anglers to stretch out and sleep. This kind of lounge space in the salon was a must-have given the mission and purpose of this boat as a long-distance sportfishing yacht. The lounge area, which also features a walnut hi-lo cocktail table, faces a starboard-side home theater center with surround sound and a pop-up 65-inch HD TV, along with a wet bar with sink and ice maker.

The 90 features horizontal grain natural walnut interior, which brings a contemporary aesthetic appeal while also accentuating depth of space throughout the boat.

Interior doors featuring both horizontal and vertical grains as well as ebony inlays add to the visual appeal.

Forward on the starboard side is a large wrap-around galley with refrigeration and freezers, engineered stone countertops and five bar stools with an overhang. All the amenities, conveniences and appliances – including two Sub-Zero refrigerators and a freezer unit, a dishwasher, an electric range with four-burner cook top, garbage disposal, trash compactor and ample storage space – are provided in the galley. Across from the dinette is a very large, raised dinette with U-shaped seating and a walnut table. The elevated platform allows for excellent views outside while also providing a rod locker with pull-out drawer below.

Accommodations

“The 92, even with all its staterooms and heads and open areas, was still a very voluminous boat with ample space throughout the yacht,” adds David. “So we knew we had the ability to scale down areas and yet still bring people all the great accommodation characteristics of the 92. We did it through careful planning, teamwork and a commitment to our owners.”

Steve and his group analyzed all living spaces inch by inch, carefully refining the placement of interior furniture – end tables, credenzas and closets – and streamlining the layout. “It was a challenge, no doubt,” says Steve. “But we pushed through and came away with a beautiful, highly functional interior.” Not only did Steve’s team, deliver six staterooms and seven heads, they were able maintain the size of the beds and the entryways to the staterooms and the heads as well as an enclosed laundry center with full-size stackable washer and dryer. “The end result is a functional free-flowing spacious layout that promotes comfortable movement throughout the yacht,” adds Steve.

The 90 features a full-beam master stateroom, a his and hers head with shared shower, a king-size bed, a large maple-lined walk-in closet, a credenza below a 65-inch HDTV, a vanity/desk area with swing-out stool on the starboard side, a port-side lounge seat and port and starboard credenzas with drawer storage. “You have five guest staterooms, each with its own private head and shower, crew quarters with immediate access to the engineroom, a pantry with an additional crew athwartship berth and a day head.”

Enclosed Bridge

On the Enclosed Bridge (EB) and Sky Bridge (SB) models, an aluminum ladder leads from the lower mezzanine to the enclosed bridge’s aft deck, which features a two-person seat near centerline (with standard air conditioning in the backrest) and a starboard-side aft control station – with full engine controls, radio box forward of the helm pod and a recessed area for multi-function electronics displays (MFDs). A sliding door leads to the enclosed bridge salon and its forward control station. The enclosed bridge is also accessible via a staircase inside the salon.

Inside the EB, a second salon awaits, boasting walnut cabinetry and furniture, premium carpeting and air conditioning and heating. The salon is highlighted by a port-side L-shaped lounge accompanied by a walnut hi-lo cocktail table; there’s also a Sub-Zero refrigerator forward of the lounge. The starboard side is the perfect place for the 43-inch pop-up HD TV; storage areas are provided under the lounge, aft of the starboard companion seat, and there’s also storage under both companion seats.

Forward, two Stidd double companion chairs side the centerline Stidd helm chair. The control station features a newly styled raised black wraparound electronics pod (with integrated visor). “This is the first Viking to have an electronics pod designed specifically for five MFDs,” says David. “We’ve also incorporated a series of vents in the forward section of the console. Plus, ergonomic refinements throughout make for an easy user experience.” The lower portion of the console is dedicated to recessed areas outboard of the steering wheel that hold a variety of instruments and controls.

Sky Bridge

Hull No. 1 is a Kingston Grey Sky Bridge model. The sky bridge helm and companion chair (with teak ladder backs) are positioned on a raised platform, maximizing visibility. The console is positioned on the starboard side, with a raised electronics pod housing three MFDs. The sky bridge helm pod is flanked by port and starboard radio boxes. Forward of the console, guests can relax in an L-shaped lounge (with storage underneath); a forward fiberglass module holds a sink to port and an undermount drink box to starboard.

Open Bridge

The open bridge’s center console (with forward lounge and storage underneath) anchors this spacious area. Aft of the console, which holds four MFDs in a recessed black acrylic panel, there are three helm chairs with teak ladder backs. They sit on a raised platform, again for optimal visibility. Immediately to starboard of the helm – for easy accessibility – is a refrigerated drink box. To port, there’s a convenient storage box. And forward, lounges to port and starboard feature wraparound backrests with integrated storage. A large freezer on centerline forward of the lounge rounds out the amenities on the flybridge.

Caterpillar C32A diesels packing 1925MHP are standard. CAT C32B 2400: 2433MHP engines are also available. The optional twin 2635MHP MTU 16V 2000 M96Ls power hull No. 1, which hits a top speed of 38-plus knots and cruises at 32-33 knots with a range of nearly 600 nautical miles.

Bottom Line: With a dozen spoken for, the Viking 90 will soon become the new showpiece of innovation and ingenuity for the large world-traveling sportfishing yacht. Hull No. 1 – a Kingston Grey Sky Bridge model – will debut at the Viking Yachts and Valhalla Boatworks VIP Boat Show February 3-4, followed by the Miami International Boat Show February 15-19.

Engineroom and Performance

The engineroom is painted in a bright Snow White Awlgrip for increased visibility and ease of maintenance. There’s more than 7 feet of headroom and plenty of space to access all sides of the 16-cylinder powerplants and numerous systems and components, including the Furuno omnidirectional sonar tube, Optimus steering system, Octoplex digital switching system and Spot Zero water maker and purifier system. The Centralized Seawater System has been redesigned to reduce complexity, incorporating the standard ElectroSea CLEARLINE System to increase reliability and component longevity throughout the boat. The 90’s mechanical features also include composite seacocks, eliminating corrosion, increasing longevity and decreasing weight. The standard 40 kW generators are aft of the engines for center of gravity purposes, and their location also provides outstanding accessibility.

Perfect spot for some weekend activity! Friendly staff and great location! Cameron did an excellent job in getting my party ready for some enjoyable kayaking experience.

Cash only!! (Only reason it's not a 5!) Plan ahead.... Solid service by Bri, and the young men who launch you and help you back in. Thanks for such an affordable, reliable kayaking opportunity. Part of my summer rituals now.... Know that the website is not current, either.... But what they do, they do well!

Reasonable prices but cash only. Equipments are fine and easy renting. The old man and the young guy both were helpful. 1.5-2 hrs kayak/ canoe is totally worth it. Social distancing and masks are requiredat the dock at these convos times but later can be removed in the boats.

This goes back some time, but had the same experience as other reviewers here with the "older man" and felt compelled to write this review. Brought extended family (with young kids) to rent some canoes. Found the front desk empty during regular hours. Stepped onto the deck in front of the river to see if anyone was around. Eventually we noticed the "older man" by himself with some canoes. He ignored us. We asked if he worked here and he went ballistic. Started yelling at us and punching canoes. Getting violent and unpredictable. We retreated quickly to our car. Absolutely confused by the incident. We reached out to the owner by phone to report the incident and she basically told us "what do you want me to do about it?" As I understand it, he is related to the owner and she is well aware of this ongoing problem. Read the other reviews, this is not an isolated incident.

I really enjoyed Canoeing here, the concord river is huge so we canoed for 3+ hours but only covered a fraction of the river. The boat house has double kayaks, canoes, and single kayaks. Be aware that this place is CASH ONLY. They had someone help us get in and out of the boat which was nice. The price I believe is changed by hour then after 3 hours, the price no longer goes up. The facilities are on the older side but did not impact our experience. I would make five stars if they accepted credit card and/or could book from their website.

Good prices, equipment is ok, but the best is the excursion to the minute man historic monument and house. Make sure you pick a good, clear, and warm day for your excursion. The rental was quick and efficient. Not much training or "friendliness", just to business and off you go on the water.

David was great. He provided us with maps of the river, advised us on some hidden gems and shallow areas to watch out for, and was generally speaking just a really kind person. I was glad we ended up here - David's warm welcome was a great way to begin a lovely afternoon paddling trip. Will definitely be back.

Love this beautiful spot! The new 3rd generation owner is amazing! She is so kind, professional, and hardworking. The customer service is top notch and the views on the river are stunning. Can't recommend this place enough!

What a great place this is. The prices could be a little less, but it's still worth it. The Sudbury River water isn't the cleanest but it's all good...the boathouse has nothing to do with that. They don't take debit or credit cards like the website says. They should update the site. I know that the boathouse may have survived some massive water damage throughout the years with floods...but it still upholds its charm. My experiences have been pretty fair when it comes to the staff. There's a lot of wild life which is a plus!

This is a lovely little spot to come to and have an 1 1/2 canoe or kayak down river through Concord. It's very pretty and we had the opportunity to take some wonderful pictures. The boat house has a working bathroom and lots of boats, the staff are young but helpful. There is an easiness to renting (cash only). They offer a lunch and dinner cruise that could be nice but the menu wasn't of interest. We would recommend this and do it again!

Bridge collapse: Temporary channel opens for boats working on response

A cargo ship crashed into Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge early Tuesday morning, causing a near-total collapse of the span and halting vessel traffic into and out of the Port of Baltimore.

Six construction workers are believed to have fallen from the collapsing bridge into the frigid waters of the Patapsco River below. The bodies of two of the victims have been recovered so far, while four remain missing and are presumed dead, officials said.

Latest Developments

Legal team for ship argues for 'limited liability' in bridge crash.

Lawyers for the Singaporean company that operates the ship that crashed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore say the company should have "limited liability" in the aftermath of the crash, according to court documents filed in federal court on Monday.

"The casualty was not due to any fault, neglect, or want of care on the part of Petitioners, the Vessel, or persons or entities for whose petitioners may be responsible," court documents filed in Maryland federal court say. "Alternatively, if any such faults caused or contributed to the Casualty, or to any loss or damage arising out of the casualty, which is denied, such faults were occasioned and occurred without petitioners’ privity or knowledge."

The filing seeks to minimize the financial exposure Grace Ocean Private Limited has over the crash.

It also goes into detail about how much damage the vessel sustained.

Court documents say that the vessel sustained $28 million worth of damage and had $1.7 million worth of cargo on the ship.

Channel needs to be cleared more in order to recover 4 remaining victims

Maryland Gov. Wes Moore on Monday gave an update on his four directives in the wake of the bridge collapse.

In order to achieve his first goal -- recovering the four victims who remain missing -- Moore said there needs to be more work done to clear the channel in order to move forward.

A portion of the bridge under the water was described as "chaotic wreckage," Moore said, and the water is "so murky and so filled with debris that divers cannot see any more than a foot or two in front of them."

Every time a diver goes in the water to search for a victim, "they are taking a risk," Moore said.

The governor said he wants the recovery mission to be completed with no casualties. Six people have been killed in the bridge collapse, Moore said, adding, "I refuse to lose any more."

As for another goal -- reopening channel traffic -- the governor described the scale of the project as "enormous."

"Unified Command has scheduled another lift for later today, pending conditions -- specifically pending lightning. And they will be lifting an estimated 350-ton piece from the bridge," Moore said.

A temporary channel opened Monday to help get more vessels in the water around the site of the collapse, he said.

"The temporary channel will be marked with government lights to aid navigation and will have a controlling depth of 11 feet," Moore said.

Crews are also working on creating a second temporary channel that will measure about 15 feet deep, he said. That's expected to open "in the coming days," he said.

After more debris is cleared, crews will also work to open a third alternate channel with a depth expected around 20 to 25 feet, said Rear Adm. Shannon Gilreath, commander of the Fifth Coast Guard District. No timeline for this channel is known.

Biden to visit bridge on Friday

President Joe Biden will visit the Baltimore bridge site on Friday, April 5, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said.

Biden will be joined by Maryland Gov. Wes Moore.

Jean-Pierre did not have any updates on the cost of rebuilding the bridge, repeatedly pointing back to the $60 million in emergency relief funds approved by the Biden administration to begin the recovery efforts.

"We're going to have continued conversation with the state of Maryland to get a sense of how much this is going to cost, and we have said, we are going to certainly continue to talk to Congress to get some assistance here," she said.

-ABC News' Karen Travers

Temporary channel opens

A temporary channel has opened in the vicinity of the Francis Scott Key Bridge, but the channel is limited only to vessels working on the bridge response, the Unified Command said.

The temporary channel is a very small opening, only accessible for small boats, the Unified Command said.

The Unified Command is made up of agencies including the Coast Guard, the Army Corps of Engineers and the Maryland State Police.

Mayor warns of heavy rain on Monday

Baltimore was expecting heavy rain on Monday morning, adding to potential delays for commuters already "expecting delays" because of the bridge collapse, the mayor said.

"Baltimore — we know we're already expecting delays due to the ongoing situation with the Key Bridge Collapse," Mayor Brandon M. Scott said on social media.

He added, "With the added complication of this expected weather, please allow for extra time during your commutes and be patient for your fellow Baltimoreans!"

The National Weather Service, which is publishing hour-by-hour forecasts for the area near the Key Bridge response, said Monday morning will bring winds gusts up to 15 mph and an about 92% chance of precipitation, which may taper off after about 9 a.m.

Capt. of the Port of Baltimore is preparing to open a 'temporary alternate channel' in the vicinity of the Key Bridge

The Captain of the Port of Baltimore (COTP) is preparing to establish a temporary alternate channel on the northeast side of the main channel in the vicinity of the Francis Scott Key Bridge for commercially essential vessels.

"This will mark an important first step along the road to reopening the port of Baltimore," said Capt. David O’Connell, federal on-scene coordinator, Key Bridge Response 2024. "By opening this alternate route, we will support the flow of marine traffic into Baltimore."

This action is part of a phased approach to opening the main channel. The temporary channel will be marked with government lighted aids to navigate and will have a controlling depth of 11 feet, a 264-foot horizontal clearance, and vertical clearance of 96 feet.

The current 2,000-yard safety zone around the Francis Scott Key Bridge remains in effect and is intended to protect personnel, vessels and the marine environment. No vessel or person will be permitted to enter the safety zone without obtaining permission from the COTP or a designated representative.

The COTP will issue a Broadcast Notice to Mariners (BNM) via VHF-FM marine channel 16. Mariners are requested to monitor VHF channel 16 for the latest information.

Members of the public may not enter the safety zone unless authorized by the COTP or a designated representative. Those in the safety zone must comply with all lawful orders or directions given to them by the COTP or a designated representative.

2,600 Carnival cruise passengers rerouted from Baltimore arrive in Virginia

The first of multiple Carnival cruise ships rerouted from Baltimore due to the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge arrived at a port in Norfolk, Virginia, on Sunday

About 2,600 guests aboard the Carnival Legend returned from a cruise to the Bahamas, getting off the ship in Norfolk. The passengers boarded 70 buses and were driven four hours back to Baltimore, where many left their cars parked.

"When we left Baltimore, we had to go under that bridge," passenger Viktoriia Aldred told ABC affiliate station WVEC in Norfolk. "The bridge looked amazing and you go under the bridge and you're like 'wow.'"

Baltimore native Michael Lukoski told WVEC he heard the news of the bridge collapse while on the cruise to the Bahamas.

"When I got the news Tuesday morning … you couldn’t believe it," said Lukoski. adding that when he first heard of the bridge collapse "it was like, 'no way.'"

200-ton piece of collapsed Key Bridge removed

A 200-ton piece of the Francis Scott Key Bridge was removed Sunday from the vast debris field of twisted metal and concrete clogging entry to the Port of Baltimore, officials said.

Tons more wreckage as well as the crippled container ship Dali that crashed into the span and collapsed it still needs to be cleared, Maryland Gov. Wes Moore told ABC News Sunday.

"We're talking about huge pieces," Moore said of the debris crews are cutting up and preparing to remove from the waterway. "I mean, just sitting on the Dali, you're looking at 3,000 or 4,000 tons of steel sitting on top of the ship."

The operation to clean up the disaster site and reopen the channel began on Saturday and continued throughout Sunday, officials said.

Moore told ABC News a timeline hasn't been set on when the channel will be reopened, echoing a statement from Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

Additionally, crews conducted a “grounding survey” on Sunday to “determine how hard the ground around the Dali is to inform the strategy for pulling it off," officials told ABC News.

Still no timeline on when Baltimore port will reopen: Buttigieg

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said Sunday there is still no timeline for when the wreckage of the collapsed Francis Scott Key Bridge and the crippled container ship Dali will be removed so the Port of Baltimore can reopen.

In an interview with ABC's "Good Morning America," Buttigieg said the Army Corps of Engineers and the Navy are bringing in a 1,000-ton crane and a 600-ton crane to clear the twisted debris from the channel.

Video: Secretary Pete Buttigieg on Key Bridge recovery

"They have not wanted to speculate yet on a timeline because the operation is so complex," Buttigieg said. "It's not that you just have to remove the wreckage, it's that you have to do it in a way that doesn't cause portions of the bridge that are there across the water to shift. They've been under a lot of compression, tension; they could behave almost like a spring if they are not expertly managed."

In addition to removing the debris, Buttigieg said the 248 million-pound shipping vessel still poses a problem, saying, "Measures are being taken to stop the ship from swinging into the channel."

The secretary said part of the $60 million in federal funding released for the cleanup and recovery efforts will also go to the "acquisition, procurement and preparation for the new bridge."

He said that while other East Coast ports have been absorbing container traffic, the Port of Baltimore is uniquely designed to handle the bulk of automobiles shipped to the United States.

"So as soon as it can safely be reopened, that, of course, is a major priority that really affects our entire national supply system," Buttigieg said.

Highly trained crews on site to begin removal of collapsed bridge

Highly trained demolition crews will begin cutting the top portion of the north side of the collapsed Francis Scott Key Bridge into smaller sections for safe removal by crane. One crane barge and one working barge are staged at the incident to support Saturday’s operations.

Salvage teams will use gas-powered cutters to systematically separate sections of the steel bridge, which will be taken to a disposal site. At the same time, salvage divers continue to conduct underwater assessments of the work site to support further operations. Every lifting operation requires engineering analysis to inform salvage operation plans.

The Unified Command is working in partnership with Baltimore Gas and Electric to reduce pressure of an underwater pipeline that spans the width of the channel and runs under the incident site. Unified Command is coordinating to inert the pipeline to free it from hazards and risk. Pipeline operations will continue through the weekend.

The Unified Command continues to maintain a 2000-yard maritime Safety Zone for the recovery efforts and a Temporary Flight Restriction with a radius of three nautical miles from the surface -- up to and including 1,500 feet above ground level -- also remains in effect.

The Safety Zone is enforced for the protection of personnel, vessels, and the marine environment from the potential hazards associated with salvage work. The vessel remains stable with crew aboard.
