Simply fly into the islands (we can help with this, too) and meet our crew. Once you’re aboard you’re on vacation!
For non-sailors, or perhaps even sailors who are looking to have a little less responsibility on vacation, a crewed catamaran charter in the Exumas is the perfect solution. From the moment you arrive in paradise to the moment you leave, you will be looked after like family. After your first cocktail, enjoy a chat with your Captain to work out the best itinerary for your group; everything from the amount of time you would like to sail each day, to the type of activities you all enjoy.
Your chef/hostess will be on board to look after you; from making sure you have enough drinks in the tropical climate, to preparing amazing meals tailored to your personal tastes. Our chef will be in touch prior to your trip date to ask about any allergies or dislikes and she will prepare a range of breakfasts, from tasty omelets to French toast. For lunch, depending on your sailing itinerary, you can either choose to have perhaps a Jerk chicken wrap if underway, or perhaps a lovely pasta dish to sustain you through the afternoon. Dinner al fresco at sunset is the best way. If you’ve managed to catch any fresh local fish, your captain and chef will prepare for you as one of your courses (depending on the size, of course!). For more food details, please visit our Sample Menu page.
To go along with this feast, you will have salads, appetizers, and other sides. Dessert could be something chocolatey and gooey; the best kind, or a cheese and fruit platter. We serve meals with a range of beverages, from healthy smoothies to wonderful wines.
Whether you want to take the helm occasionally, or not at all, or your goal for the week is to “discover sailing” the choice is completely yours. Having your own crew means that you can enjoy island-hopping the beautiful Exuma Islands worry-free.
Activities could be anything from sea scooter, wakeboarding, snorkeling, swimming and exploring uninhabited islands. If reading a book is your main vacation goal; you’ve come to the right place.
Our crew is super friendly and loves the Exumas. They will ensure that you have the best sailing vacation ever, and may even take you to those places that many other sailors would not know about.

What's in a name, a kittiwake is....
The catamaran has a special name that reflects its seagoing character.
According to Wikipedia, kittiwakes are a seabird species in the gull family Laridae. The name is derived from its call, a shrill ‘kittee-wa-aaake, kitte-wa-aaake’.
They have a white head and body, grey back, grey wings tipped with solid black, and a yellow bill. They can have either black or red legs.
In contrast to the dappled chicks of other gull species, kittiwake chicks are downy and white since they are under relatively little threat of predation, as the nests are on extremely steep cliffs. Unlike other gull chicks which wander around as soon as they can walk, kittiwake chicks instinctively sit still in the nest to avoid falling off.
Kittiwakes are coastal breeding birds ranging in the North Pacific, North Atlantic, and Arctic oceans. They are the only gull species that are exclusively cliff-nesting.

Guest Review:
“My husband and I, along with two friends, decided to charter Kittiwake and sail the Exumas. I can say without reservation it was one of the most enjoyable and restorative vacations we’ve ever taken. The new boat was ultra-comfortable and spacious, with plenty of places to curl up and read or watch the mind-blowing scenery unfold. And Kittiwake’s many amenities provided a luxurious touch. Most importantly, though, was the crew. From the moment we came onboard, the Captain and Chef took care of us in every respect. Their professionalism and commitment to our enjoyment never ceased to impress us.
There’s so much more I could say about this trip. Five out of five stars. It would be impossible to place a value on how much we loved it. We’ll be back.” ~ Dave L. and Stuart M.

You’re In Good Hands
Few chartered yachts offer a crew with more talent and experience than Jacob and Alex—your seasoned captain and gourmet chef. They’ve crewed countless luxury charters, and are both experts in delivering an amazing sailing experience. Synergy is one of the very few yachts equipped with an E-Foil in addition to a full range of water toys.
Jacob was happy to answer questions and teach those that wanted to learn more about sailing.
I was so impressed by his professionalism, knowledge of the islands, and basically everything about the water. Jacob was always smiling, and he knew just where to take us to snorkel and things to tell us to look out for.
Alex was beyond words amazing!!
Besides being a phenomenal person, she is a gourmet chef!! She took incredible care of each one of us, prepared incredible meals, and made the entire experience perfection!!
She handled our every need, want and just made every moment fabulous!
There aren’t enough words to say how amazing Alex was! We wouldn’t recommend a yacht trip to anyone if Alex isn’t the chef.
I couldn’t believe how delicious all of the meals were. She made sure we were ready and on time for all events. I can’t imagine this trip without her!
Jacob is professional, smart, kind, witty and I highly recommend him without hesitation.

Most people agree, that if you want a relaxing, quality vacation on the Caribbean Sea, the Bahamas are the ideal choice. Nassau and Freeport are both full of historical sights and teeming marketplaces. For a more active pastime, you can rent diving gear to explore coral reefs. Or discover uninhabited islands from aboard by boat.
Location of the Bahamas
The group of 690 islands and more than 2000 coral reefs lies southeastward from Florida in the Atlantic Ocean. Out of them, only 29 islands are inhabited. The average area of the reefs is four and a half square km . From south Cuba, and from north Florida will be the archipelago. The combined area of the Bahamas is 13939 km2 and the population of the country is 303 000. There is a parliamentary monarchy in the area and the official language is English. Nassau is the capital and largest city of the Bahamas. About 70% of the country’s total population lives here. It has its own harbour and international airport.
Beaches in the Bahamas
Picturesque beaches, gulfs, and lagoons with the gorgeous view of the sea and warm sunshine will all make your journey unforgettable.
Gulf of Goodman:
Goodman’s Bay Beach is a popular public beach in Cable Beach. This beach offers locals and tourists a variety of fitness activities and a number of water sports. It’s ideal for lovers of sailing. Besides sailboat rental , you can rent a moped or banana boat. The sand is rougher compared to other beaches in Nassau, but the water is just as clean and refreshing. There are no restaurants, but in busy periods you can find hot dog stands and merchants selling soft drinks. Due to safety reasons, visiting the beach at night is not recommended.
Pink Sands beach:
Many people visit Harbour Island to view the famous Pink Sands beach. You shouldn’t believe every picture you see on the internet though. Some are left disappointed when they find out that the beach is not fully pink as some photos suggest. The unique mixture of coral, broken shells, miniature rocks, and calcium carbonate colour the sand with pink fragments. It’s a long, wide beach. Calm waters surround it. It’s ideal for wedding ceremonies, sports, and yoga.
Junkanoo beach:
The Junkanoo is the only beach in the Bahamas that functions as a full-time party beach. This small but lively area has music, bathrooms, showers, and local dealers. The Tiki Bikini Hut restaurant on the shore serves cocktails in fresh coconut shells. The beach, within walking distance of Nassau’s city center, is popular among sailors primarily due to its nearness to the coastal port. The water is just as beautiful as most beaches in the Bahamas, but the sand is a bit rocky. Only 50 m from Junkanoo beach there’s Long Wharf Beach, which has a similar atmosphere but with less audience.
Main attractions in the Bahamas
The capital of the Bahamas, Nassau, is on New Providence Island in the business region of the country. Historically it was a pirate fortress. The House of Parliament and different judicial organizations are also here. There are kid-friendly sights on the Bahamas like the Atlantis, the water park of the Bahamas on Paradise Island. The Dolphin Encounters is a sea habitat with trained dolphins. Dolphins show diving tricks and give kisses to visitors. You can swim with them, take a photo together, or feed them.
The concept of piracy became popular through movies like The Pirates of the Caribbean. This era, however, is a critical period of Caribbean history. The “golden age of piracy” lasted from 1690 to 1720. It had a huge effect on the Bahamas, since the capital, Nassau, supplied the biggest pirate concentration out of every Caribbean island. Visitors of the Pirates of Nassau interactive Museum can view the weapons used by pirates and come to know the most popular pirate legends. This museum is an especially exciting program for children.
The weather in the Bahamas
The Caribbean region is characterized by the all year long hot and humid tropical climate. The weather is somewhat cool and dry from the middle of January to the middle of April. From the middle of June to the middle of November it’s usually hot, wet, and rainy. The country’s weather is dominated by a subtropical monsoon climate. The average yearly medium heat is 28°C.
Crewed catamaran charter in the Bahamas – the biggest ports in the Bahamas
George town.
George Town can be found in the central-western part of Great Exuma. We can anchor practically anywhere around the town, as the area is well-protected. There are great anchorages in the centre, at Kidd’s Cove, and a little more to the south behind Crab Cay, at Red Shanks. There is a large port that belongs to Exuma Market in the centre; from here we can easily get to the central shops. They have a fuel station nearby that we can use. There are several yacht marinas in the area, for instance, February Point Marina and Marina Village Crab Cay. All of these marinas are relatively small and family-friendly. Exuma Cay Yacht Club can be found in the southern part of town. Here we can get fuel, access electricity, replenish our water and ice supplies, and they have shower cabins as well. There are also many restaurants and groceries in town.
Norman’s Cay
Norman’s Cay is one of the most fascinating islands of the Exumas, as the area is surrounded by an ancient coral reef. The conditions are suitable for all kinds of waterfront activities, but the place is also perfect for a relaxing afternoon. The remains of drug lord Carlos Lehder’s plane lie beneath the sea. It is a classic diving spot, as the plane is still intact, providing a home for tropical fish and corals. We can anchor at several parts of the island. Boats that are well-suited to strong waves may use the area between Battery Point and Norman’s Cut. As for vessels with a smaller draft, they can anchor near Boot Cay. We can find other anchorages on the southeastern side between the dock and the plane wreck. The area is well-protected against winds, and the depth of water is around 2 metres.
Highbourne Cay
Highbourne Cay is a small, private island between Nassau and Eleuthera. It’s a popular stop for boaters heading to Nassau. We can get water, ice fuel, food and all the essential supplies we need here. Its harbour is beautiful, well maintained and protected. Information about sailing in Exumas or yacht charter in Exumas .
Harbour Island
Harbour Island lies in the northern part of the Eleuthera archipelago and is a perfect place for those looking for diversity. There are great hiking opportunities in the district of the old dockyard. We can find a ruinous fort here that was built under the leadership of the legendary pirate Charles Wayne. The area near the beach is full of marvellous caves, the largest of which was converted to a prison in the 18th century. Today, it is one of the most popular spots to visit. Another reason that the tiny island is popular among visitors is the unique beaches covered with pink sand. There are two yacht ports on the island: Harbour Island Club & Marina and Valentines Marina. Both of them is a well-equipped port with fuel docks.
Rock Sound is a large bay located south of Governor’s Harbour. It is a very friendly town with amazing shops and a wide variety of services. There are great anchorages in the area; however, none of them is completely protected. There are also two small free dinghy docks and an awesome beach near Wild Orchid. Davis Harbour Marina, which is the closest yacht marina, can be found in the southern part of the island. There are 24 anchorages here, and the depth of water is app. 2.5 metres. They offer shower cabins, laundry, fresh-water, ice, fuel and even boat maintenance on the dock. Information about sailing in Eleuthera , or Eleuthera boat rentals .
Blue Water Marina
Blue Water Marina is a great yacht marina in Bimini, providing full comfort to its guests. We can refuel, replenish our water and ice supplies, use the showers and the laundry service and visit the amazing restaurant. They accommodate 36 boats, and the depth of water is app. 4 metres. We can choose from many diving, fishing and other watersport activities. Information about sailing in Bimini , or boat rental in Bimini .If you wish for an amazing holiday with sunshine and the stunning wonders of nature, visit the Bahamas, where you’ll find all of this. Organize an adventurous day for your kids, rent a yacht to become one of the pirates of the Caribbean.

The country’s weather is dominated by a subtropical monsoon climate. The Bahamas really do not have an off-season. On the coast, the climate is generally sunny and pleasant year-round, influenced by the trade winds. Some months are rainy and others dry. Of course, temperatures vary by location. Even the rainy season (May through November) rarely offers challenges for visitors. Even the occasional tropical rainstorm is usually short-lived.
Summers may see temperatures from 26 °C to 32 °C and higher humidity. The average yearly medium heat is 28°C. Day 1: Nassau to Highbourne Cay | Day 2: Norman's Cay | Day 3: Hawksbill Cay | Day 4: Compass Cay | Day 5: Staniel Cay | Day 6: Exuma Park | Day 7: Shroud Cay | Day 8: Disembark in Nassau
To charter a luxury crewed catamaran in the Bahamas is to sail the Eden-island retreat of the yachting world. Our planet’s most beautiful anchorages are often found in remote regions and can only be accessed by vessels with a shallow draft, and this is true across almost the entire Bahamas . Whether you wish to celebrate a 50th birthday in the Exumas , experience a Bahamian Christmas or New Year with loved ones, or embark on the ultimate vacation for spring break in the Bahamas - a charter in this region is the most wonderful destination to do this in style.
A Bahamas crewed catamaran charter will open your eyes to a serene setting both above and below the waterline. Tender ashore to many of the secluded 365 Exuma island cays peppered across a 90-mile stretch, home to nurse sharks, iguanas and the famed Exuma pigs. Whilst dipping below the surface will unveil an underwater utopia, heaving with tropical fish and adorned with kaleidoscopic coral.

Day 1 - Nassau to Highbourne Cay
Begin your first day in Nassau. Although a stark contrast to the tropical utopia of islands and cays that await your charter, Nassau is both a bustling metropolitan city and a serene island to briefly relax following your travels.
Step onboard your luxury crewed catamaran in the Bahamas and meet your Captain and crew ready for an upwind afternoon sail to Highbourne Cay, arriving for an early evening dip, sundowners and an exquisitely prepared meal by your yacht chef.

Day 2 - Highbourne Cay to Norman's Cay
Highbourne’s eight beaches are among the best-kept secrets in the Bahamas and make a good walk from the Marina before sailing to the next anchorage - Norman’s Cay. Once a drug smuggler’s hotspot now a sleepy resort, miles of paradisiacal beaches make up Norman’s Cay. Drop the anchor and snorkel the enchanting sunken smuggler’s plane wreck before heading to MacDuff’s, a largely undiscovered rustic-chic resort serving up Bahamian delights – namely, lobster.
Day 3 - Norman's Cay to Hawksbill Cay
Pick up anchor early doors and enjoy a beautifully prepared breakfast en route to the hushed haven of Hawksbill Cay. With consistent winds, this is a great sail to a perfectly desolated anchorage, where you will enjoy total exclusivity.
While away the afternoon snorkelling above vibrant coral, or for some adrenaline – the crew will enjoy taking you on a wakeboard or water-ski tour of the island. This is an idyllic spot to swing at anchor with sundowners and an alfresco dinner on the main aft deck.
Day 4 - Hawksbill Cay to Compass Cay
Wake to a gorgeous sunrise over Hawksbill Cay and tender ashore for a morning hike for epic views across the bay. Alternatively, stimulate the mind with a kayak to the beach and stroll along the talcum-powdered sands, before dipping below the surface in search of turtles.
Late morning, set sail towards Compass Cay, a beautiful crescent-shaped beach where the adventurous ones will take the plunge with friendly nurse sharks. Berth in the Compass Cay Marina and venture inland to the islet's natural Jacuzzi known as Rachel's Bubblebath, or take a jungle wander before reconnecting with the world for some island bliss on one of the island's 13 pristine beaches.
Day 5 - Compass Cay to Staniel Cay
Sail into Big Major's Spot to rendezvous with the swimming pigs, this is a truly unique experience and the Bahama’s main attraction. The sheltered waters just outside the bay make this a great place for watersports too.
As the sun begins to dip below the horizon, motor into Staniel Cay for your overnight anchorage and take the tender to the Thunderball Grotto – made famous by the Bond movie – before making your way to Kermit’s Hilltop Restaurant and Tavern for unrivalled views, rum punch and fresh Mahi Mahi, live music and dancing. The Staniel Cay Yacht Club is another must-visit if deep-sea fishing takes your fancy, or to see the spectacular New Year’s Regatta.
Day 6 - Staniel Cay to Exuma Park
Sit down for breakfast on the aft deck whilst you spot rays in the waters below, before raising the anchor and embarking on an island-hopping tour – via Allan’s Cay where the renowned Iguana Beach is located - into the paradisical oasis of the famed Exuma National Park , known for its outstanding natural beauty.
Float through shallow, tourmaline waters with white sandy swathes on either side of you. Experience a slower pace of life where you can do as you please, discovering one pocket of paradise after another. Famous for its conservation efforts, this is the perfect place to go tender ashore to explore on land or make use of the catamaran's water toys.
Day 7 - Exuma Park to Shroud Cay
Continue through the Exumas to catch Shroud Cay at high tide, where you will be able to tender through the mangroves spying plenty of turtles, rays and barracuda. Return to your Bahamas catamaran for one last swim and a burst of watersports activities, before dressing to impress for your final celebratory dinner onboard, enjoying a selection of small plates and tantalising treats.
Day 8 - Shroud Cay to Nassau
Eat breakfast underway and catch a few final rays of sun as you set off early on your return sail to Nassau, where you will say farewell to your crew and head home with a load of incredible memories!

Chartering in the Bahamas, a Destination for Every Season
The Bahamas are a year-round yacht charter destination with weather patterns that closely mirror South Florida, making for an incredible climate for vacationing with a boat charter. Bahamas winters are cooler than the rest of the Caribbean, and temperatures can occasionally drop to the mid-to-low 60s, especially between December and February. Late spring and early summer have the best weather for boat rentals, with warm temperatures, calmer waters, sunny skies, and fair winds.
Bahamas Crewed Motor Yacht Charters
Chartering your own private motor yacht is the best way to see the islands of the Bahamas. Crewed motor yachts are the perfect way to island-hop, seeing as many attractions as possible and then relaxing offshore to enjoy water sports and beachside activities. Motor boats are the most popular type of yacht charter in the Bahamas. Crewed motor yachts also carry a wide range of recreational gear, from wakeboards and standup paddleboards to kayaks and Jet Skis, so there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

These wide-bodied vessels offer generous deck space and are more stable than motor yachts. What better way for both the sun-worshipper and the avid snorkeler to explore the reefs and sea life? This stretch of stunning islands and cays is the perfect spot for Bahamas yacht charters. Idyllic beaches, hidden coves, and dozens of world-class ports make the Exumas some of the country’s top cruising grounds.
Here, you can swim with the pigs at Pig Beach on Big Major Cay or swim with nurse sharks at Compass Cay: They’ll be so close you can touch them!
The Exuma’s protected waters also offer a calm location to paddleboard, kayak, and Jet Ski around the islands. Don’t forget to visit Staniel Cay and nearby Thunderball Grotto! This fantastic underwater cave system is teeming with exotic marine life and is such an amazing location for snorkeling, diving, and wading that it was a location for two James Bond movies!
Nassau is the starting and ending port for most yacht charters in the Bahamas. Once dubbed “The Republic of Pirates,” Nassau today features world-class marinas, upscale hotels, resorts, and golf courses. In addition, it is also a great destination on its own, with beautiful beaches and great snorkeling
The Atlantis
The famed Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island is a world of its own, offering spas, world-class restaurants, nightclubs, and more! Snorkel alongside tropical fish in the man-made Ruins of Atlantis, stroll the bottom of the shark exhibit, feed stingrays in the lagoon, or just relax at one of 11 different swimming pools.
Don’t start your charter without spending a day at the Atlantis and enjoying all of the amenities this luxury resort offers, from swimming with dolphins to trying your luck at the best casino in the Caribbean.
With architecture inspired by British settlers, Eleuthera is a casual island of rocky bluffs and low-lying wetlands with magnificent coral reef backdrops. Eleuthera’s beaches are world-famous. Surfer’s Beach is just two miles south of Gregory Town, where southwest winds blow breaks in from the Atlantic. It’s a surfing and kite-surfing mecca! Even if you just want to watch, the two-mile stretch of beach has some of the best sugary-soft white sand in the Bahamas.
Harbour Island
Northwest of Eleuthera lies Harbour Island, which was named by Travel + Leisure magazine as “the best island in the Caribbean” not once but twice. Known for its romantic pink-sand beaches, upscale shore-side accommodations, and picturesque scenery, Harbour Island offers plenty for charter guests to explore.
Located just south of Miami, the two main islands, Great Abaco and Little Abaco, as well as picturesque cays offer the adventurer truly incredible beaches and plenty to do, from deep-sea fishing to snorkeling in six amazing national parks. This is the boating capital of the Bahamas, and sailing on a luxury yacht through its mangrove-covered islands and cays will leave you with the quintessential Caribbean memory.
Bahamas Yacht Charters: What To See & Do
The Bahamas is one of the world’s most revered destinations for yacht rentals. The Bahamas are a paradise of postcard-worthy beaches, beautiful tropical weather, and amazing island adventures.
Some of the Greatest Beaches in the World
The beaches of the Bahamas form such an extraordinary collection of sand and warm turquoise waters that astronauts have praised them from space.
Whether you’d like to swim or snorkel, truly relax on a deserted beach, or head to the waves for some water sports, the Bahamas has plenty of stretches of sand for fun and adventure. Favorites include Pig Beach on Big Major Cay, Dean’s Blue Hole in the Exumas, Rose Island near Nassau, Pink Sands Beach on Harbour Island, Surfer’s Beach on Eleuthera, and Guana Cay and Tahiti Beach in the Abacos.
When you think you’ve tried them all, find your own deserted stretch of sand along an unnamed island to enjoy sunset cocktails or even a private beach picnic.
Crystal-Clear, Aquamarine Waters
The waters of the Bahamas are bathwater-warm year-round, hovering in the low 80s most of the year. Yet beyond their beckoning warmth, they’re also the clearest in all of the Caribbean. Expect 100-foot visibility in most seasons. That makes this the perfect destination for a cruising adventure. Whether you’d like to explore the vibrant and colorful corals, swim with sharks, or dive a blue hole, the islands’ inviting waters are the perfect setting.
Amazing Marine Life
The waters of the Bahamas boast a variety of marine ecosystems and an unparalleled opportunity to experience sea life. Witness massive humpbacks breaking surface waters, or swim with exotic tropical reef fish at James Bond’s Thunderball Grotto. Find world-class marlins and sailfish while deep-sea fishing in the Abacos. Stand at the bottom of the awe-inspiring shark exhibit at Atlantis, or feed stingrays in the lagoon on Paradise Island. Find Dolphin Cay and swim with dolphins at one of the largest marine habitats and animal rescue facilities in the world. With a Bahamas yacht charter, you can swim with the pigs at Pig Beach at Big Major Cay or dive into Compass Cay and get so close to nurse sharks that you can touch them!
World-Class Sporting Adventures
The warm turquoise seas of the Bahamas offer more than just wildlife. The clear, shallow waters are also the world’s largest playground. You can really do it all in the water: paddle-boarding, Jet Ski tours, kayaking hidden coves, wakeboarding, knee-boarding, and water-skiing. Plus, most crewed charter yachts include a garage of gear to help you have fun in the water.
Head to Surfer’s Beach in Eleuthera for big wintertime swells; it’s perfect for surfing or kitesurfing. Staniel Cay is a great paddleboarding and kayaking spot, thanks to its protected, calm waters. And taking a Jet Ski jaunt around the islands is always fun.
Great Golfing
Test your land legs at the Ocean Club Golf Course on Paradise Island, recognized as one of the top ten resort courses in North America and the Caribbean by Golf Digest. Or set sail to Emerald Bay to play a round at its Greg Norman-designed course.

A Bahamas Yacht Charter - Where to start from.
You have come to the right place to learn about options to consider on a private yacht charter in the Bahamas, what type of yacht might work best, what’s involved in choosing and booking a private yachts, and how unique your Bahamas charter can be.
Central Bahamas
Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas. Nassau is the quintessential Bahamas hot spot! The town of Nassau is centrally located on New Providence Island with a large International airport and major resorts. Many Bahamas charters start here for its convenience to both the Exumas and Eleuthera. Eleuthera is a Bahamian island bordering the Atlantic to the east, and it is a dream Bahamas destination. The sand is pink and the houses are painted in picture perfect bright colors. Eleuthera is warm and inviting, and one can start a vacation there or ideally start in Nassau.
Southern Bahamas
The islands of the Exumas are picture book perfect in every way and one of the most popular destinations for Bahamas yacht charters, with a typical boarding in Nassau. The beaches are beautiful, the area is secluded, and the natural wildlife is exotic and plentiful. The Exuma Land and Sea Park is part of what allows this part of the Bahamas to remain so perfect. Further south would be the Turks and Caicos which are not common for bahamas charters with few yachts based there, if any.
Northern Bahamas
The Abacos Islands are amoungst the more Northern part of the Bahamas and are a much less travelled Bahamas yacht charter destination. When you leave the quiet comfort of your charter yacht, you will be pleasantly surprised to find the warm atmosphere of the islands itself. There are smaller cays to the east and north such as Treasure Cay, Man O'War, Green Turtle, and Elbow Cay to name a few - who could resist names such as these? The Abacos, while not as popular a Bahamas yacht destination, can be an option. Freeport and Grand Bahama are much more popular for land based vacations than charters.
Be Confident Booking Your Bahamas Yacht charter.
When planning a vacation of this magnitude confidence is of the utmost importance. You need to feel confident in the people you are working with, so that you can relax and enjoy your vacation and the time leading up to it. Your captain will map out an itinerary to suit you based on your preferences, but remember, it's flexible! Interested in seeing a sample cruise itinerary ?
When to Charter in The Bahamas.
There are but a few variations to The Bahamas being a year-round yachting destination. As these islands share weather trends with southern Florida, winters are much warmer than most of the United States; however there can be an occasional cool down from time to time. The summers have a much more stable weather pattern. The waters are calm and the days are hot, with an average temperature of 85 degrees. Bahamas Yacht Charter
A Bahamas yacht charter promises guests a slice of tropical perfection and unparalleled escapism. The idyllic chain of islands that form the Bahamas provides yacht charter guests with a decadent cocktail of sun-drenched sands (even pink ones), crystalline waters teeming with marine life, and diverse topography.
Comprising more than 700 heavenly islands with precious few inhabited, the cruising grounds of the Bahamas archipelago offer a fascinating mixture of seclusion and connectedness. Expect a gloriously slower pace of life that harmonizes with the gentle tide, blended with a fiesta of blazing color and soft-calypso: an endearingly exotic charter experience.
Silhouetted by coral cays, aquamarine shallows are garlanded with glistening coves and iridescent bays are often only three or four meters deep, making the Bahamas both a perennial family favorite and a jet-setter's paradise. It's ideal territory for shallow draft yachts or catamarans, who can cozy up to seldom-visited anchorages and soak up their celestial calm, or delve deeper for an aquatic adventure.

Types of Charter Yachts in the Bahamas
Crewed motor yacht charters and luxury catamaran charters are undoubtedly the best way to discover the Bahamas.
As one of the most popular destinations for yacht charters in the Caribbean , guests have countless fleet options when it comes to a Bahamas crewed charter. If you are unsure whether to opt for a motor yacht, sailing yacht or catamaran to cruise Bahamian waters, here are some main points to consider:
Shallow Cruising Grounds
The waters all around the Bahamas are fairly shallow, often no more than 4 meters deep, and even less in some places. Therefore, yachts with shallow drafts make the ideal choice for luxury charters around this enchanting region.
Most sailing charter yachts come equipped with a retractable keel, facilitating access to the beautiful turquoise shallows, although larger sailing yachts may still find their draft too deep for some areas, even with their keel up!
To get around this, some of the larger luxury yachts drop their anchor further out into the deeper waters and use their onboard tenders to explore the area, where guests can experience the thrill of getting up close and personal with the archipelago’s astonishing marine fauna, including rays, sharks and inquisitive swimming pigs. The yachts’ tenders also enable even greater access to the Bahamas' myriad exquisite island reefs and blue lagoons.
Motor yacht charter in the Bahamas
A luxury motor yacht provides guests with a tranquil haven to uncover the startling beauty of the Bahamas. Whether you want to peacefully bronze under Bahamian rays or get out the jet skis and whizz around deserted islands, a crewed motor yacht charter in the Bahamas provides you with boundless itinerary options.
Sailing Yacht Charter in the Bahamas
Chartering a sailing yacht in the Bahamas means you can embrace all that these substantially beautiful islands have to offer. Cruising further afield to otherwise inaccessible sleepy villages with chalk-white beaches and waters suffused with a pale aqua glow is worth incorporating into any itinerary.
Catamaran Charter in the Bahamas
Given that the majority of catamarans have shallow drafts, crewed catamaran charters are a highly popular choice for Bahamas vacations. As you can cruise close to the cays, guests can savor the liberating feeling of being able to jump off-board at almost any point. Whether it's to dive amid sunken shipwrecks and admire shoals of fish that shimmy through fronds of coral in a kaleidoscope of color or to dance the night away at a private island under a blanket of stars; the choice is all yours.
How Much Does It Cost To Charter a Yacht in the Bahamas?
Bahamas yacht charters are plentiful, which means there are a vast array of motor yacht and catamaran charters to suit every type of budget. The average prices for motor and sailing yacht charters in the Bahamas are as follows;
For motor yacht rentals in Bahamas, prices can range from $42,100 to $1.47m per week, plus expenses
For luxury sailing yacht rentals in Bahamas, prices can go from $30,000 to $343,476 weekly, plus expenses
Tax for Yacht Charters in the Bahamas
What is the cost of tax for yacht charters in the Bahamas? From the 1st of July 2022, a new 10% VAT rate will be levied on the total charter fee, and is applicable to all yachts cruising in Bahamian waters. The new 10% levy does not replace the current 4% cruising fee which remains payable to the Port Department.
All yachts wishing to cruise within the archipelago must now register for VAT in the Bahamas and receive a Bahamian TIN number.
Please consult your chosen yacht charter broker who will be able to offer personalized advice on VAT and any other business for your next Bahamas yacht charter.
Foreign-Flagged Yachts in US Waters
There are strict and complicated rules governing commercial yacht charters (non-private) cruising US waters, which in general means that only US-flagged yachts or US built yachts with a coastwise endorsement can conduct yacht charters in the US. Furthermore, yachts that are available for charter are considered to be "engaging in a trade" and thus ineligible for a US cruising licence. Most luxury charter yachts are also not US duty paid.
As the majority of the charter fleet are foreign-flagged yachts, Bahamas yacht charters will likely begin outside of the US, usually in the Bahamian capital of Nassau where there is a large busy international airport.
That said, it is possible to pick-up charter guests in the US so long as the yacht's next port of call is outside of US waters. This can be a good option for those wishing to meet the boat in Florida and cruise down to the Bahamas from here.
Where Should I Begin My Yacht Charter in the Bahamas?
The vast majority of yacht charters in the Bahamas embark and disembark in the country's picturesque capital Nassau , which is home to its best-known international ports, dotted with top-rung marinas all along its azure waters. The city is justly renowned for its throng of fine-dining options, boutiques, hip eateries, and casinos fringed by towering palm trees. Nassau is also conveniently located for cruising to the Exumas and beyond.
For a real respite from the crowds, it's common for yacht charter guests to embark their vessel at Marsh Harbor on the Abaco Islands , where you can trace the mesmerizing string of sandy cays that can be found here. Its shores, a serene and shimmering topaz, are perfect for dropping anchor and taking the toys for a spin.
When is the Best Time to Visit the Bahamas by Yacht?
One of the great joys of choosing a Bahamas yacht charter is that its balmy climes and shallow waters make it more or less ideal to cruise all-year-round* . But the Bahamas does have a peak season from mid-December to mid-April. The average temperatures of both Bahamian summers and winters are unsurprisingly tropical: hovering between 24-29 degrees and rarely dipping below this.
During the summertime (from May until October), guests can expect endless sunshine and some humidity, while from November until April, the Bahamas has a slightly cooler temperature and colder waters.
*However, whilst Bahamian weather is pleasingly warm all-year the islands do fall within the hurricane belt, running from June until the end of November along the US East Coast and the Caribbean. The Western Caribbean's own hurricane season usually starts from mid-September until early November.
Nevertheless, it is worth keeping in mind that hurricanes in the Bahamas are fairly infrequent, and even less so than on the US East Coast.
Marinas in the Bahamas
It is not hyperbole to say that the Bahamas offers some of the most spectacular marinas in the world: from glamorous hotspots replete with award-winning restaurants, designer stores, and buzzing beach bars, to the exquisite barefoot luxury that emanates from the less frequented.
A slew of activities is on offer here, including bonefishing, ocean fishing, dolphin watching, golfing, and snorkeling. And that's not even to mention the dizzying array of casinos, water parks, and marine reserves you can also find. Simply put, marinas in the Bahamas are simply of the finest caliber.
But which marinas are the best? Below are some charter favorites:
- Hurricane Hole Superyacht Marina : the newly renovated marina at Paradise Landing close to the famous Atlantis Resort in Nassau offers a raft of 5-star amenities, wellness facilities and world-class retail outlets, not to mention exclusive restaurants and bars, alongside an on-site customs facility and slips catering to yachts up to 420ft (128m) LOA.
- Treasure Cay Beach, Marina and Golf Resort (The Abacos): well-protected deep water marina, with excellent provisioning. Features an outstanding golf course, as well a spa for an extra dose of pampering. Excursions to see the delightful water-bound pigs can also be arranged here. It offers a 164-berth capacity up to 46m.
- Green Turtle Club and Marina (The Abacos): tranquil and conveniently located to Abaco's hotspots as well as a perfect spot for beach hikes and land-based activities. Accommodates 40 berths up to 39m.
- Atlantis Marina: iconic megayacht marina featuring a protected harbor with 63 berths up to 67m. Has an extensive number of facilities including a golf course, casino, spa, water park, and more. You can also arrange swimming with dolphins excursions here.
- Emerald Bay Marina (The Exumas): large superyacht marina that has a berth capacity of 150 for yachts up to 79m. Within easy reach of many mesmerizing cays, including Cave Cay and Staniel Cay.
- Palm Cay Marina (Nassau): ideal jumping point for exploring Paradise Island and the Exumas, with state-of-the-art facilities and amenities. 194 berth capacity up to 33m.
- Highbourne Cay Marina: exclusive marina on a privately owned island, seen as the gateway to the Exumas. Accommodates up to 26 berths.
Popular Anchorages in the Bahamas
The Bahamas has jaw-dropping anchorages in abundance, flecked all along the 590-mile-long archipelago.
In the Exumas , you must cruise towards Leaf Cay to meet the colony of stocky but amiable Iguanas who call it home. You won't miss them: they'll be ready and waiting to greet you when you drop anchor. You should also pay a visit to Staniel Cay, where the famed Thunderball Grotto ( named after the 1965 James Bond film) is located, to see a cave illuminated by light and flourishes of angelfish. Closeby, you'll find Big Major Cay's swimming pigs, who have a seemingly never-ending capacity for treats, and Shroud Cay's sea turtles contently floating amid a dramatic underwater backdrop. Simply put, it's a wildlife lover's paradise.
In the Abacos, head south to the isolated Great Guana Cay and spend an afternoon snorkeling around the marine park, or alternatively, head straight to its golf course. Further north, you'll find Green Turtle Cay : where fishing boats stand charmingly in front of timber houses in a perfectly graduated shade of pastels. Swimming pigs (yes, there's even more here!) are located in nearby Noname Cay . And last but not least, bathe in the calm, warm shores of Treasure Cay, where you will find some of the best beaches in the world.
Elsewhere, other popular anchorages include those in Eleuthera , an island steeped in cultural significance but manages to retain its erstwhile charm. Set towards St. George's Cay to drink up the peaceful ambiance of Spanish Wells beach and meander the historic Governor's Harbor.

Best Airports in the Bahamas for Yacht Charters
Reaching your crewed yacht charter in the Bahamas is a breeze, with more than 20 international airports at your disposal, plus myriad smaller private and public airports. However, some are more conveniently located to popular yacht charter destinations than others. Here are the most popular airports for yacht charters in the Bahamas:
- Nassau Lyndon-Pindling International Airport: best for charters starting in vibrant Nassau, as it is conveniently located to the docks of many world-class marinas and can be a quick tender ride from the airport.
- Georgetown, Great Exuma Airport : ideally located to reach the world-famous swimming pigs in the Exumas. Daily international flights are available.
- North Eleuthera Airport: an international airport that is best for reaching the quaint Eleuthera and Harbor Island.
- Marsh Harbor International Airport: ideal for charters commencing on the crystal clear shores of Abacos, being only 7.9km away.

Booking Advice from the Experts
We strongly recommend booking with your yacht charter broker at least three to six months in advance, as the Bahamas is a highly popular Caribbean luxury yacht charter destination. By doing so, you will increase the likelihood of securing your preferred dates and you will have a greater selection of yachts on offer to choose from.
This also ensures your broker has enough time to craft a personalized itinerary and secure a berth at a popular marina.
Local Insight
- Keep in mind that the endless sunshine from mid-December until April attracts a high number of visitors to this idyllic location, and this is when the Bahamas is usually at its busiest.
- New Providence Island (where Nassau and the extraordinary Atlantis Resort and Marina are situated) tends to be heaving with cruise ships. If you are looking for a calmer charter, this is worth taking into consideration.
- Weather conditions and wind strength play a crucial role in anchorage spots in the Bahamas, so plan any overnight anchorages accordingly.
- Some anchorages can be a bit of a challenge to set: it's common for heavy grass to cover a large section of some of the better spots to drop anchor
- Anchorages that appear to have a sandy bottom can oftentimes be just a thin layer of sand over a coral reef or rock, making it difficult to dig the anchor in. Don't be misled by them!
Most Popular Superyacht Hotspots in the Bahamas
In the north of the archipelago you'll find the Abacos : widely considered to be the boating capital of the Bahamas thanks to its unique geography. Epitomising laid-back Bahamian living, an Abacos yacht charter is ideal for those in search of stillness and solitude. Soak up its subtle alchemy at the vast 2,100 marine reserve in Pelican Cay, fringed by blossoming coral, tame sea turtles, and dancing angelfish, or explore the superb surfing opportunities at Fowl Cays . For a journey through vivid color, pass a leisurely morning in nearby Hope Tow n, admiring crayon-hued Bahamian architecture and Elbow Cay's candy-striped lighthouse whilst drinking in their unpretentious ambiance.
After an afternoon spent floating on a late-summer heat haze, further on to Green Turtle Cay and sip on that famous Bahamian cocktail, the Goombay Smash, by a seafront taverna as the sun casts a peachy glow. Of course, no visit to the Abacos would be complete without a trip to the acclaimed Treasure Cay Beach : its milky white sands and cyan shallows see it routinely end up on the world's most beautiful beaches list.
Home to 365 cays, days here could easily drift by diving off burnished rocks until the sun slowly slinks away. Life truly does revolve around the water in the Exumas, so think every watersport you could possibly imagine is a go here. Plus, it's the perfect shallow cruising ground for yacht charters, with no cruise ships in sight making it a discerning choice for those looking for repose.
Sailing towards Big Major's Cay is love at first sight for most: it's where you will find Pig Beach , and its utterly charming piggies gliding surprisingly effortlessly across the water. Nearby, plunge into the sea with nurse sharks at Compass Cay before ending the day sauntering along the remote Three Sisters Beach as the sunsets. Whilst you are here, go onshore and absorb Bahamian culture to its fullest in Georgetown.

An Eleuthera yacht charter has come to encapsulate the island's name, which in Greek means 'freedom'. Secluded, slender, and over 100 miles long, Eleuthera is unquestionably the prettiest out of the Out Islands, fully earning its name as the Nantucket of the Caribbean. With the island's soft, salmon-colored sandy beaches and pastel-painted houses set among pineapple fields, it's hard not to become infatuated by its perfectly-packaged tropical charms.
Make sure you also visit the historic capital Governor's Harbor and the verdant Hatchet Bay whilst you are cruising its unspoiled shores.
Harbour Island
Situated in the northwest of Eleuthera, Harbor Island is renowned for its astonishing Pink Sand Beach , which gets its unique rosy hue from the presence of millions of tiny crushed coral seashells. Packing a powerful punch to the senses, this seemingly endless stretch of sand which is cool-to-the-touch (and ideal for barefoot walking) extends over three miles and adored by the well-heeled. And you'll understand in an instant why when you visit. Languid afternoons spent upon its long arc of soft sugar-textured sand, hugged by pale-blue waters and bathed in golden light will linger long in your memory.
But that's not all Harbor Island has to offer. It would be remiss not to mention Harbor Island's lively night scene, and the number of sophisticated boutiques huddled here: with Dunmore Town the ultimate go-to destination for designer wear.

Bahamas Yacht Charter Q&A
Your vessel will need to have a shallow draft (no more than 4m) as Bahamas waters aren't deep. If you would like to visit the Bahamas by superyacht, it will need to have a shallow draft below 4m or a retractable keel to cruise comfortably and make the most of the idyllic anchorages found here.
Browse with ease on our site a wide-ranging selection of motor yachts, sailing yachts, and catamarans for charter in the Bahamas. Select by your chosen dates, number of guests, yacht type, features, and preferred onboard toys and we'll show you what's available.
If you decide to make an enquiry, a yacht charter broker will then contact you to provide you with a custom charter proposal based on your needs.
You can also reach out to your yacht charter broker directly, and they will be able to research for you the ideal yacht charter in the Bahamas.
Mid-December to mid-April is the Bahamas' peak season, characterized by endless sunshine and pleasingly warm waters.
Nassau is the invariably popular choice to begin a Bahamas yacht charter. Not only is the city astoundingly beautiful and replete with world-class marinas, hip boutiques, restaurants, and more, but reaching other Bahamas destinations like the Exumas is a breeze.
In most cases, a completed charter agreement and 50% of the charter fee is required as a deposit to secure your luxury yacht charter, which is payable once the contract has been signed.
The Bahamas is a highly popular yacht charter destination, which for guests means there is a yacht to suit practically every budget.
When booking, keep in mind the additional costs that aren't included in the base rate, namely tax and the APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance). Typically set at 30% of the charter fee, the APA is paid in advance and covers expenses such as fuel, berthing, food, drinks, as well as any special requests (such as for tenders that are not carried by yacht, equipment hire, etc.)

CHARTER A CATAMARAN DIRECTLY FROM AN OWNER.
High-quality discounted catamaran charters + personalized service since 2003., serving the chartering community, we are a small group of sailors who love chartering catamarans and we want to help you find the best charter possible. here’s what our customers are saying:.
The boat was very clean and in great shape. The bases at Grenada and at St. Vincent were both very well managed, and both took excellent care of us, and sweated the details.
All in all, it was a great charter and I can’t thank you enough for helping us reschedule this reservation over the course of the last year. Our next charter is set for the end of July so keeping fingers crossed that BVI will be an option at least part of the time for our vaccinated crew.
Jenny makes renting boats easy! With the few issues we've had she's always been there for us!
We had a fantastic two weeks. The boat was new and beautiful (only 4 trips prior to us). Henere and MiHee (his wife) were AMAZING captain and crew. The food was fabulous, we even caught a large tuna off the back of the boat and had sushi and sashimi for a few days. They grew up in Tahiti, knew everyone and knew exactly where to take us. They had wonderful suggestions, told us what to shop for and what to avoid and took us on great excursions.

Harbour Island is renowned for its beautiful beaches, especially the pink sand beaches that offer a unique backdrop to this charming destination. On your luxury yacht charter, you can enjoy the island’s laid-back atmosphere, explore the chic boutiques, and dine at exquisite restaurants. Harbor Island also serves as a perfect anchorage for sailing yachts and motor yachts, allowing you to experience both the land and sea aspects of the Bahamas. Don’t forget to visit the Green Turtle Cay nearby, known for its friendly nurse sharks and picturesque settings.
How can we make the most out of our motor yacht charter in the Exuma Cays?
The Cays offer an unparalleled yacht charter experience with their exotic marine inhabitants and deserted islands. When chartering a motor yacht, you have the flexibility to explore far-flung locations such as Staniel Cay, Compass Cay, and the Land and Sea Park. Don’t miss the opportunity to swim with the world-famous swimming pigs at Big Major Cay, snorkel in the pristine waters of Thunderball Grotto, or simply relax on the sand beaches. For a truly immersive experience, consider a day charter to Norman’s Cay to discover its underwater plane wreck and historical allure.
What unique experiences does New Providence Island offer for a sailing yacht charter?
New Providence Island, home to the capital city, Nassau, is a vibrant hub for those on a Bahamas sailing vacation. A sailing yacht provides the perfect platform to explore the bustling markets, historical forts, and the luxurious Palm Cay Marina. For a touch of nature, the nearby Lucayan National Park on Grand Bahama Island presents caves and mangroves to explore. Sailors can also enjoy the shallow draught motor yachts’ advantage, allowing access to hidden coves and private beaches around Paradise Island and the Rose Island area, known for its tranquility away from the main tourist spots.
What are the top destinations to include in our Bahamas yacht charters itinerary for a diverse experience?
A boat charter in the Bahamas offers an array of destinations, each with its unique charm. Treasure Cay in the Abacos is renowned for one of the world’s most breathtakingly beautiful beaches, perfect for those seeking relaxation on their luxury yacht charter. Adventure seekers can head to Andros Barrier Reef for world-class diving, exploring the vibrant coral reefs and rich marine life. Don’t overlook the serene Cays Land and Sea Park, the first of its kind, offering pristine secluded beaches, untouched marine habitat, and protected waters ideal for sailing yachts and motor yachts alike. For a mix of luxury and natural beauty, Palm Cay Marina on New Providence Island provides top-notch amenities and easy access to both Nassau’s vibrant culture and nearby private beaches.
How can we personalize our Bahamas yacht charter to include both relaxation and adventure?
Personalizing your private yacht experience in the Bahamas is all about balancing leisure with adventure. Opt for a luxury yacht equipped with all the amenities for relaxation, including spacious decks, jacuzzis, and fine dining options. Incorporate destinations like The Exuma Islands for a mix of relaxation on white beaches and adventure with activities like swimming with the swimming pigs or snorkeling at Thunderball Grotto. Adventure enthusiasts might enjoy catamaran charters for a stable and spacious option, ideal for water sports and exploring secluded beaches. Include stops at Green Turtle Cay for a quaint island experience and Norman’s Cay for snorkeling around the intriguing plane wreck. Tailor your itinerary to include both wild and untouched islands for privacy and iconic spots like Harbour Island for a taste of local culture and history.
