Rafael Nadal upgrades his boat to Sunreef 80 Power catamaran

Sunreef Yachts has announced its latest high-profile customer, after Rafael Nadal ordered an 80 Power catamaran

Tennis star and keen boater Rafael Nadal will be the proud owner of one of the first Sunreef 80 Power catamarans after buying into the Polish yard’s new flagship range.

As comfortable on the water as he is on a clay court, Nadal cites his childhood in Mallorca as the reason why he’s so keen to spend his downtime boating.

“As someone from an island as I am, the sea is part of our lives and it’s not a secret that I love the sea,” he said. “Every time I am at home in Mallorca I try to go out and find that time where I can just enjoy my time on a boat.”

Having previously chartered a Sunreef yacht, the 18-time Grand Slam winner is well acquainted with the Polish yard’s work.

“I am very happy to [join the] Sunreef Yachts family and would like to thank [yard founder and president] Francis Lapp for making this possible,” he added.

The Sunreef 80 Power is making its public debut at the 2019 Cannes Yachting Festival , although Nadal’s fully-customised version will not be delivered until next year.

Nadal also owns an MCY76 called Beethoven , which was listed for sale earlier this year with Camper & Nicholsons, asking €2.6million.

In June, Sunreef Yachts has delivered an 80 Sunreef Power model to international tennis superstar Rafael Nadal, which was named catamaran yacht GREAT WHITE .

The fully custom motor catamaran was delivered to Nadal at his hometown in Mallorca after having been ordered the year before. The tennis player had previously chartered Sunreef Catamarans and had met with Francis Lapp, the founder of the company, at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2018.

The exterior styling features high bulwarks, portlights in stainless steel and railings that enhance safety without impeding the views both outside or from within the air-conditioned salon.

The 80 Sunreef Power model offers Owners a generous volume with a fold-down balcony off the Master Suite and a tender garage designed for the storage of jet skis. A pair of 1,200 HP engines provide power for long cruises, as well as for exploring the nooks and crannies around the Balearic Islands. The carbon composite hull and superstructure makes for a light draft to effortlessly access the beaches, and further enhance the stability on board.

Overnight, the accommodation provides for up to 8 guests over 4 en-suite cabins: 1 Master suite, 2 double cabins and 1 twin cabin, and the crew quarters are in the bow of both hulls.

The starboard side Master suite is the most lavish cabin on board and in addition to the aforementioned fold-down balcony, there is a double bed, a widescreen TV concealed in the ceiling when not in use, a sofa, walk-in wardrobe and en-suite bathroom furnished with a sink, toilet and shower.

Nadal previously owned M/Y BEETHOVEN, a Monte Carlo Yachts 76 model which he also used to cruise his favourite waters around the island of Mallorca. M/Y GREAT WHITE will serve a similar role, providing the tennis player with complete freedom and adventure away from his busy training schedule.

The tennis world champion has a passion for beautiful motoryachts. Today, he shows us, in pictures, his brand new acquisition, an 80 Sunreef Power, a luxury motoryacht catamaran, an exceptional unit that has enabled the Polish shipyard to enter the super yacht market on the same level.

If there is one development that everyone in the yachting world is watching with great attention, it is the current transfer of part of the clientele from monohull yachts from 100 to 200 feet to catamaran motoryachts from 70 to 120 feet.

This strong trend can easily be explained by a desire on the part of owners for greater privacy on board - less crew - for an equivalent living area and larger volumes.

In fact, demand is exploding in this sector, which reflects the soundness of the strategy of the Polish shipyard Sunreef Yachts, the world leader in semi-custom luxury catamarans, whose move upmarket in recent years is currently enabling it to take full advantage of this strong wave.

Among the latest units delivered by Sunreef, ActuNautique invites you to discover today, the motoryacht delivered a few weeks ago to Rafael Nadal, a unit which is much talked about in the yachting world.

Rafael Nadal, a yachting enthusiast

An experienced sailor, Rafael Nadal has been passionate about yachting since childhood and never misses an opportunity to go out to sea with his friends and family. Having owned monohull yachts until now, he decided to have a custom catamaran built for him after visiting and chartering Sunreef Yachts catamarans in the past.

Seduced by both the design and the living space of the 80 Sunreef Power, he opted for the latest model from the shipyard and took delivery of Great White last month.

Great White, Rafael Nadal's 80 Sunreef Power can accommodate up to 8 guests thanks to its comfortable 4-cabin layout. The starboard hull houses the owner's suite, one of the guest cabins and the crew quarters.

The spacious master suite features a walk-in wardrobe, sofa, overhead fold-out TV and a private sea view balcony. The port hull accommodates two other guest cabins and the catamaran's galley.

Great White's bright saloon offers great comfort with its two large sofas next to the entrance to the aft cockpit, a dining area for 8 people at the bow and two 77" TVs installed back to back. An additional lounge area with sofa is located next to the entrance to the forward sundeck.

The large aft cockpit of the catamaran offers an exceptional open-air dining area, well protected from the sun and sheltered from the wind. Under the large sofa, the aft garage of Great White accommodates a three-seater jet-ski and a selection of nautical toys as well as a refuelling station. A hydraulic platform has been installed to carry the yacht's tender and provide additional space for sunbathing on the water's edge.

The flybridge is the privileged relaxation area where guests enjoy an outdoor lounge equipped with solariums and a bar.

Equipped with two 1200 HP engines, the 80 Sunreef Power Great White expects a top speed of 23 knots and a cruising speed of 16 knots.

Here’s your chance to see a yacht that earned top honors in Robb Report’s 2021 Best of the Best in the flesh.

Rafael Nadal ’s coveted Sunreef catamaran Great White , which was recently awarded Best Power Cat in our annual round-up, will be exclusively showcased at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show from September 22-25.

Set in the picturesque Port Hercules, the world’s premier yachting event gathers the crème de la crème of yachts and yards. The tennis star’s prized multihull will be on display for all to see by the QC 11 stand at the Quai Chicane, but Sunreef will also hold pre-arranged viewings so you can actually step aboard Nadal’s floating abode.

Great White.  Sunreef Yachts

The 35-year-old tennis pro commissioned Great White  in July 2019 and took delivery of the 80-footer last summer. Fit for a former World No. 1, the custom cruiser sports a sleek silhouette with clean lines and an azure-colored hull. She’s fitted with two 1,200 hp engines that help her perform like a star athlete and afford a top speed of 24 knots or cruise speed of 14 knots.

It’s the inside that really sets Great White apart from her peers, though. The cat features a contemporary yet understated interior that spans almost 4,000 square feet and represents one of the largest in class. The centerpiece is a generous main salon with two 77-inch sports-center televisions, a dining space that seats eight and a plush lounge.

Another highlight is the master stateroom. Located in the starboard hull, it sports a flip-down ceiling TV above the bed, a walk-in dressing room, sofa and a private fold-out balcony. Elsewhere, there are three guest cabins plus two for the crew.

The exterior, meanwhile, comprises a full-beam alfresco dining area with a weatherproof TV, a relaxation area on the flybridge with sun pads and another pop-up TV, plus a hydraulic swim platform. The cat is also equipped with a garage to the aft that holds Jet Skis, water toys and a tender.

In addition to Nadal’s pride and joy, Sunreef will also exhibit luxury cat Double Happiness . The bespoke 80-footer, which is part of the yard’s acclaimed line of sail catamarans, comes with a spectacular main deck saloon as well as an imposing flybridge.

Last month, Rafael Nadal received his fully custom Sunreef 80 Power and things appear to be going swimmingly. The Polish shipyard has released pictures of the 34-year-old tennis pro aboard the luxury catamaran and he’s smiling like he just won a grand slam. That’s because, in the marine world, he did. Great White represents an ace in high-end multihulls.

Nadal first commissioned the 80-footer back in July 2019. The ultra-modern cruiser was specially designed for the current World No. 2 and his wife Maria by the Sunreef team. The all-rounder combines five-star comfort with exceptional seaworthiness and has an epic interior fit for a tennis king.

The yacht’s sizeable living space spans just shy of 4,000 square feet and is one of the largest in class. It has been fully decked out with no expense spared to the exacting standards of keen yachting enthusiast Rafa. As to be expected, the cat’s exteriors are as equally impressive. Built in composite, Great White sports a sleek silhouette and clean lines for which Sunreef is renowned. She’s fitted with two 1,200 hp engines that help her run like a star athlete and give a top speed of 24 knots or cruise speed of 14 knots.

Launched last month by the Sunreef Yachts shipyard, the motor catamaran – 80 Sunreef Power – was officially handed over to its owner – Rafael Nadal in his home town of Mallorca.

Rafael Nadal is one of the best tennis players in the world, but also has a passion for yachting, with which he has been associated since childhood. Before purchasing 80 Sunreef Power, Rafael Nadal and his family spent their vacation chartering one of the Sunreef Yachts sailing catamarans.

“It’s an extraordinary event for our shipyard to hand over a vessel to such an exceptional person as Rafael Nadal. My team in Gdansk made every effort to create the yacht that Rafael and his wife Maria dreamt of. Ordered by Rafael Nadal, the 80 Sunreef Power yacht is a modern 360m² oversized vessel designed for deep-sea travel. This dynamic and elegant model combines comfort and exceptional maritime bravery,” assures the manufacturer.

Last year, international tennis superstar Rafael Nadal famously sold his US$3.3 million yacht known as the Beethoven. Not long after, he ordered another custom-made 80-foot luxury yacht: a Sunreef 80 Catamaran with a price tag of US$6.2 million.

The brand new water toy arrived in his hometown of Mallorca, Spain, just in time for his 34 th birthday earlier this month. Unsurprisingly, the world no.2 men’s singles tennis player took it for a spin to celebrate the occasion with his newly wedded wife (as of last October), Xisca Perelló.

“As someone from an island, as I am, the sea is part of our lives and it’s not a secret that I love the sea. Every time I am at home in Mallorca I try to go out and find that time where I can just enjoy my time on a boat,” Rafa said of his splurge.

Boasting 4,000 square feet of space, the yacht is designed for long cruises and can accommodate up to 12 people on board. It is powered by twin 1,200 hp engines that allows the vessel to reach a top speed of 24 knots or cruise speed of 14 knots.

There’s an expansive flybridge with a fully equipped wet bar, a barbecue area and a lounge with sun pads. Plus, the sizeable garage can store a number of jet skis and other water toys. But the interiors are where the 19-time Grand Slam winner lends his personal touch.

Sleek, modern and sophisticated, the interiors feature a large main deck saloon with direct access to the front terrace, four guest cabins with en-suite bathrooms and an exquisite owner’s suite with a private fold-out balcony. We’d imagine Rafa getting his tan on while enjoying the view from the modern owner’s sea terrace.

Rafael Nadal turned 34 on Wednesday and his new yacht docked at the Club Nàutic in Porto Cristo on Friday. The impressive luxury yacht is 23.95 meters long, accommodates 12 passengers and is valued at 5.5 million euros.

Spanish paparazzi were there to capture all these photos of Rafa, his wife Maria Francisca Perello, father Sebastian, sister Maria Isabel and other friends as they first cleaned the boat.

Have mixed feelings about these photos. On the one hand it’s very nice to see Maria Francisca looking so well. It has been several months and we missed seeing her. On the other hand the Nadals undoubtedly did not invite the press to come photograph them.

In any case happy for them that their catamaran has arrived and with the restrictions being gradually lifted that they can enjoy some pleasant voyages.

Rafael Nadal Just Bought A Custom 80-foot Luxury Catamaran

The 33-year-old tennis superstar just received his fully custom 80 Sunreef Power catamaran scheduled for delivery in 2020 and it is everything you would hope it to be. When we think mega-stars of sports we throw names like Lebron James, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Michael Jordan, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. The somewhat humble Spaniard rarely offers a glimpse into his personal life like the other names mentioned. this time Rafa speaks with Yacht enthusiast Bill Springer for Forbes .

The pair conduct an interview on Rafa’s new toy, his 80 Sunreef Power catamaran. The 19 Grand Slam winner talks about unwinding on his yacht, and the importance of having a place to escape the pressures of living a high-profile life. Everything on the catamaran is custom built. Even the doors feature a mirrored glass chosen custom by the world number two.

When speaking about the living space onboard the 80 Sunreef catamaran, he stated, “living spaces helps you enjoy the sea from all perspectives. Also, under way, you can be on the front terrace, or if you want to hide from the wind, you go to the stern cockpit and relax. On the flybridge, you have 360 views… the yacht is 12m wide, it gives plenty of possibilities: you can have a jet-ski on board, a big tender, toys…”

His new custom-built Sunreef 80 is a place he can do just that, chill and soak up everything the ocean has to offer, and he does it in style. When speaking about his love of boats, Rafa had this to say, “you know what, I want to spend the day out there on the boat”. I can get away from the stress that way. To me it’s important, it helps me restore positive energy. That’s something that helps me move forward with my tennis career, it’s one of the things I really appreciate in boating. Of course, to go for ownership is a tough decision, because it’s expensive, but it’s just good for my personal life.”

Rafa’s new vessel is a multihull yacht built in composite and designed for long trips experienced in full comfort. When speaking a matter of power, the vessel boasts two 1,200 hp engines. While speed isn’t a primary need for the vessel, it’s customised nature is made brilliant by a clever personal-watercraft garage and a 39-foot beam that makes for large fully customisable living spaces. This includes a superyacht-style flybridge large enough for a hot tub and wet bar.

The latest addition to Sunreef’s power-cat fleet offers open main deck layouts, different dining options and seating arrangements. This has allowed Rafa to choose every design tailored to what the world number two desires.

When asked why he chose a catamaran Rafa stated, “My experiences with catamarans are associated with chartering them. I chartered catamarans couple of times and those were very satisfying journeys. That is why I wanted to have a multihull of my own. I have always owned only monohulls and on a catamaran I was captivated by the huge amount of space. Honestly, to be clear in my small port [in Mallorca], the 80 Sunreef Power is the biggest boat that can dock there. It’s great for me that I can have the new 80 Power here in Porto Cristo, in the place which is located in front of my house.”

He also added, “I am going to use the boat most of the time in the Balearic Islands. Mainly because I don’t have a lot of time these days to go very far. I have to keep training and keep my focus on tennis. Hopefully in the near future I will have the chance to take the boat to other places and discover the world.”

A bordo del catamarano di Rafael Nadal, un colpo di fulmine scoccato a Cannes

Più che una barca, la nuova barca del mancino di Manacor è una vera e propria casa per navigare tra le Baleari o guardare un film

Negli anni il mancino di Manacor ha più volte dichiarato che il fatto di non essersi mai separato dal suo ambiente abituale e di aver mantenuto la stessa routine lo ha aiutato ad essere più sereno e ad avere una carriera più lunga. E tra le abitudini di Nadal vi è proprio quella di trascorrere, sin da quando era piccolo, molto tempo al mare in barca con la famiglia; crescendo ha iniziato a pensare di essere lui stesso armatore di un' imbarcazione , così nel 2013 ha acquistato la sua prima barca. " La barca per me è come una casa , dove trascorro diverso tempo divertendomi e, contemporaneamente, mi offre la possibilità di disconnettermi da tutto il resto", racconta l'atleta.

Dopo diversi monoscafi, tra cui lo yacht di lusso di 24 metri Beethoven costruito da MCY, Rafa Nadal ha scelto di possedere un catamarano : "Il multiscafo è più stabile in navigazione e, personalmente, credo non ci sia paragone con gli spazi che puoi avere a bordo rispetto a un monoscafo, oltre al fatto che puoi ospitare più persone".

La scelta del catamarano conferma il trend positivo degli ultimi anni di questa tipologia di barca, questo perché gli armatori desiderano sempre più spazio vivibile a bordo ma anche perché prima il multiscafo era visto come una barca adatta prevalentemente per il charter, e quindi più spartana negli interni e con meno cura nei dettagli. Oggi, invece, cantieri come Sunreef Yachts hanno lavorato tantissimo per cambiate la percezione di questo prodotto, proponendo sul mercato catamarani di lusso di elevate qualità prestazionali ed estetiche, adatti anche per gli armatori più esigenti.

Durante il Cannes Yachting Festival 2018 lo stesso Nadal è rimasto particolarmente colpito nel salire a bordo dell' 80 Sunreef nella sua versione a vela e di constatare i grandi spazi vivibili: un vero e proprio colpo di fulmine che lo ha condotto all'acquisto della stessa barca ma a motore , più semplice, a suo avviso, da poter governare.

Nadal ha preso parte in modo attivo alla personalizzazione del suo 80 Sunreef Power: "La prima cosa che ho chiesto" - afferma Rafa - "quando ero a Cannes, ancor prima di pensare di comprarne uno, è se fosse possibile abbassare un po' le murate dello scafo, poiché quando ero seduto nel salone della versione dell'80 Sunreef a vela ho notato che non avevo la visibilità del 100% sul mare. Dopodiché è iniziata la personalizzazione degli interni, di cui avevo già un chiaro layout in mente, avendo già navigato sui multiscafi e tenendo in mente che questa barca è ad uso privato e non per il charter. Personalmente credo sia importante avere diverso spazio a disposizione perché, quando vuoi condividere momenti speciali con la famiglia o con gli amici, ognuno può godersi la barca in zone differenti. È importante, secondo me, che ognuno trovi il suo personal space ".

A bordo il campione spagnolo ama godersi appieno il mare e navigare tra le isole Baleari , un luogo dove poter scoprire sempre posti nuovi, anche se afferma che in futuro vorrebbe fare navigazioni più lunghe, cosa che attualmente, dati gli svariati impegni agonistici, deve rimandare per il poco tempo a disposizione per lo svago.

Il catamarano di Rafael Nadal Great White è lungo 24,4 metri e può ospitare fino a otto persone nelle quattro cabine. Lo yacht ha interni completamente personalizzati, tra cui un impressionante salone sul ponte principale con accesso alla terrazza sul mare, una suite armatoriale con balcone laterale apribile e lussuose cabine ospiti con bagno privato.

L'interior design è interamente giocato da una palette calda e delicata come le nuance del beige, del tortora, del crema, del caffè e del marrone chiaro caldo: il tutto conferisce un'atmosfera rilassante.

Il fuoriclasse del tennis racconta che, grazie alla conformazione del catamarano , a bordo può trascorre il tempo in diverso modo, ad esempio il tender, dalle dimensioni impensabili per un monoscafo, gli permette di scoprire diversi posti, come le calette nascoste dove non hanno accesso gli yacht dalle grandi dimensioni, oppure può scegliere di usare il jet ski o pescare.

Tre sono gli spazi propri del catamarano che il campionissimo predilige: il flybridge, che considera un posto eccezionale con vista sul mare a 360° con bar, barbacue, zone relax per divertirsi con gli amici; il cockpit, ovvero il posto più tranquillo della barca dove poter rilassarsi, con un grande tavolo adatto ai pranzi e alle cene e, infine, il salone sul ponte principale, uno spazio che gli garantisce un home feeling e che ritiene difficile da immaginare se non si è a bordo. Qui Rafa ama trascorrere le serate guardando un film in tv o... lo sport, naturalmente!

Desde el Puerto de Málaga y dejando atrás la catedral iluminada , un catamarán se dispone a soltar amarras y emprender ruta por la bahía . Esta vez la cosa no va de bikini y sol, sino de salitre y estrellas . Un recorrido nocturno de observación astronómica que bordea la costa de la ciudad y que se repetirá durante todo el verano.

La actividad, llamada 'Un mar de estrellas ', es una iniciativa de Mundo Marino Catamarán , empresa con certificado Starlight que lleva más de dos décadas navegando. Una distinción que promueve el turismo de estrellas , mezclando ciencia, sostenibilidad y una mirada al firmamento para entenderlo un poco mejor.

Cuándo y cómo disfrutar de la astronomía en la costa de Málaga

Esta experiencia, no apta si te mareas en los barcos, se celebra todos los viernes de los meses de julio y agosto , a excepción del día 16 de agosto coincidiendo con el arranque de la Feria de Málaga en La Malagueta. La primera de ellas tendrá lugar el próximo viernes 19 de julio y es necesario reservar la plaza previamente.

Las tarifas varían según la franja de edad , siendo gratuita para los niños de hasta 3 años ya que los pequeños también pueden participar de la experiencia.

• De 4 a 12 años: 20 euros.
• De 13 a 64 años: 30 euros.
• Más de 65 años: 25 euros.

Así es la travesía starlight en catamarán

Aunque cuentan con dos catamaranes en su flota, los participantes irán a bordo del más grande : tiene capacidad para 150 personas y dos plantas. Esta actividad en concreto se realiza en la parte superior del barco. La tripulación recomienda siempre ir con ropa cómoda y recibe a los aficionados con una copa de bienvenida antes de salir del puerto.

La travesía comienza a las 22:30 horas , cuando el cielo ya se ha oscurecido lo suficiente para contemplar con detalle las constelaciones . Dura en torno a 1 hora y media y lo ideal es estar un ratito antes para encontrar la ubicación adecuada dentro del barco .

Más allá de la propia observación astronómica (desde Mundo Marino aplican prácticas para reducir la contaminación lumínica ), el aprendizaje corre a cargo del vicepresidente de la Sociedad Malagueña de Astronomía , José Manuel Núñez, que realiza una visita guiada por el cielo de Málaga .

Durante los primeros 15 minutos se hace una pequeña parada para ver el skyline de la ciudad desde el agua y fotografiar la Alcazaba y el Castillo de Gibralfaro iluminados sobre el Paseo del Parque . Después, de este a oeste del litorial, comienza la ruta y la charla.

Láser en mano, como si fuera una varita mágica, el experto con más de 15 años de trayectoria señala los astros y estrellas , siempre que el cielo despejado lo permita. El regreso al puerto también cuenta con una parada breve antes de desembarcar para volver a coger el móvil y publicar todos los reels que apetezcan.

Una experiencia diferente que tuvo su prueba de fuego el pasado año y que desaparecerá de la programación con la llegada del otoño a Málaga.
