RIVA I (ex Riva, Nataly, and Euphoria) is a classically-styled motor yacht built by the Italian shipyard Benetti in 2006 and refitted in 2019. With exterior design and naval architecture by Stefano Righini and interiors by Francois Zuretti, this vessel is able to accommodate up to 12 guests in 6 cabins, with additional accommodation provided for a professional crew of 8.

The transom door folds out to create a spacious swim platform above the water, where guests can sunbathe, take in the views or take out the water toys. After a morning in the water, guests can rest and take a meal on the main deck aft, where a raised alfresco dining table is surrounded by a C-shaped sofa along the stern and additional movable chairs.

A staircase to starboard leads from the main deck aft to the upper deck aft, where armchairs and a drinks table are placed close to the stern, and the central area beneath the sundeck overhang hosts a large circular dining table with enough chairs to seat 10 guests. A C-shaped sofa and raised table for light alfresco meals and drinks.

One final starboard staircase leads to the sundeck, lined along the aft with sun loungers while the central section is shaded by a hardtop and has a wet bar and a Jacuzzi fitted with forward-facing seats around the outside.

On the lower deck the crew accommodation is placed forward with the guest accommodation amidships and the engine room and tender garage in the stern.

The main deck hosts the Master suite forward, behind which is the port galley and starboard the main foyer. The aft interior section contains a formal dining area to seat up to 10 guests and a spacious lounge for entertaining. Dividing the two spaces is a wet bar to port and a staircase leading down to the guest accommodation on the lower deck. The salon is fitted with an aft-facing L-shaped sofa and coffee table with an additional forward-facing armchair, all of which are placed against the same wall as the wet bar. The cabinetry opposite conceals a widescreen TV which pops up using a remote control system.

RIVA I Specifications

The upper deck places the helm controls forward and there is a sofa in the room where guests can watch all the action. The sky lounge behind has a large widescreen TV on the port wall with a chaise-lounge placed in front and a low-set table for drinks. The starboard wall has a desk and chair with excellent views out of the window. There is a forward wet bar for refreshments throughout any special event, and to the aft there is a drinks table surrounded by chairs for conversation while taking in the views to the aft. This room can be converted into a third double cabin, and there is a forward en-suite bathroom with a toilet, sink and shower.

A pair of Caterpillar C30 1,550 BHP engines provide a top speed of 15 knots, a cruising speed of 11 knots and a range of 3,100 nautical miles.

Yacht Charter Accommodation

The accommodation sleeps a maximum of 12 guests across 6 en-suite cabins: 1 Master suite, 2 double cabins, 2 twin cabins and 1 convertible cabin situated on the upper deck. The Master suite is placed forward on the main deck and comes with a king-sized bed, a sofa beneath the port windows and a desk beneath the starboard windows. A walk-in-wardrobe adds to the privacy between the bedroom and the main hallway. The forward en-suite bathroom has separate entrances leading to his-and-hers sinks and toilets, with a shared central bathtub and shower. The double cabins are located on the lower deck forward of the staircase up into the main salon. The twin cabins are placed to port and starboard respectively of the staircase up into the main salon The skylounge converts into a third double cabin complete with en-suite facilities. A FAMILY LEGACY SINCE 1842 In 1842 in Laglio, Italy, on the banks of Lake Como, a visiting fisherman admired young Pietro Riva’s skill in boat repair. He invited Pietro to Sarnico, Italy to repair two of the fisherman’s own damaged boats. This is the humble birth of what would become Riva’s legendary history.

Soon Pietro started building fishing boats in addition to repairing them. He also married and built a family. His son, Ernesto Riva, learned the trade and became a skilled carpenter, but Ernesto saw motorboats as the future, not fishing boats.

MOTORBOATS AND SPEEDBOAT RACING EMERGE In 1881 Ernesto began his own family, and in the meantime was commissioned to build the first motorboat. Its success encouraged him to design and build motorboats of his own, some of which were used to transport tourists to Montisola, the largest lake island in Europe.

When Ernesto was killed in a boatyard accident in 1907, his son, Serafino Riva, stepped in to run the family business. Aware of the technology and attitude shifts occurring after the turn of the century, Serafino devoted his time to building leisure craft instead of his father’s transport boats. European inboard engines and outboard engines from the United States revolutionized the construction of boats, and Serafino decided to dedicate the company's new Riva yachts for sale to the new sport of motorboat racing.

Serafino showcased Riva’s excellent performance, which convinced the most famous pilots of the time to drive Rivas in the speedboat races. The races, which were rapidly gaining in popularity, became an excellent way to promote leisure boats in general, even outside of the racing region. In fact, in 1928, Riva participated in Milan’s first Nautical Exhibition. Riva was part of virtually all motorboat events held between 1931 and 1939, the year when racing activities were suspended in Italy.

THE FAMOUS RIVA RUNABOUT In the mid-1930s, the world’s most famous mahogany runabout (still instantly recognizable today) was designed and built by Riva. Production of these yachts was never interrupted, even when demand declined during the Second World War.

After the war, Riva designed and popularized more speedboats, such as the “Sea Spider” which evolved into the “ Corsaro . ” The new sport of water skiing became popular, and of course, Riva yachts were right there, meeting the needs of water skiers throughout the Mediterranean .

ENTERING THE MODERN ERA In 1949, Carlo Riva purchased the yard from his father, Serafino. In 1956, Carlo began a decades-long collaboration working with Giorgio Barilani, a boat designer and architect exclusive to Riva.

By the late 1960s, Riva boats became synonymous with the rich and famous. Owning a Riva was a sign of style and elegance. In Saint-Tropez, actors, actresses, heirs, and heiresses partied onboard these stylish yachts all night long. Sophia Loren purchased at least two Riva yachts, and Rivas were frequently showing up in the movies. Because of their timeless design and top-quality material choices, Riva yachts became instant classics that still hold their prestige more than six decades later.

OWNERSHIP CHANGES In 1991, the last Riva family member to work at the company left shortly after Rolls Royce purchased 100 percent of Riva's shares. But in 2000, Riva became Italian-owned once again when the Ferretti Group acquired the yard.

Ferretti relaunched the product and the brand, with a primary focus once again on what made Riva great: Quality, design, and style.

Riva 82′ Diva Reviewed

Full disclosure: I carry my car keys on a Riva fob as a constant reminder of where I want to be. I’ve always appreciated Riva’s design and execution, and the Riva 82′ Diva only strengthens my admiration for the brand.

Flybridge motoryachts of this volume do not get any more elegant. Mauro Micheli and his team at Officina Italiana Design—which has penned every new Riva for about three decades—tell me their brief this time was to create a modern flybridge yacht that’s also sporty and streamlined. And haven’t they just? The 82′ Diva’s proportions are precise, and it is the first Riva with fold-down quarter platforms that turn the cockpit and hydraulic swim platform into a beach club. That guest space has a table and a pair of inboard-facing sofas, as well as a sun pad above a tender garage that you would never know was there, given its low profile. The fold-down platforms add more than 10 feet to the almost 20-foot beam.

More alfresco lounging is on the 430-square-foot flybridge. It’s partially protected by a hardtop that covers the cockpit stairs, a wet bar with a countertop, an L-shaped sofa and a table to port, and the two-seat upper helm to starboard. The hardtop’s forward edge is notched to provide headroom en route to the forward sun pad above the pilothouse. More lounging and sunbathing areas are forward on the deck below.

Inside, the salon has picture windows that make it a naturally bright space. The 82′ Diva’s standard decor is high-gloss “rigatoni” veneers—strips of Italian walnut—with other options available, including a chocolate wenge. Regardless of the wood choice, the varnish work can be 25 coats deep. And the accents are equally tactile: polished stainless steel, satin lacquer work, stitched leather, marble, and contrasting carpets and furnishings. It’s a marvelous fusion of light, midrange and dark tones. Everything craves to be touched. While the salon’s layout is conventional enough, with a lounge area aft and dining forward, the dining space is two steps up to enhance guests’ views during meals. They’re probably the best views I’ve seen on any motoryacht less than 100 feet long. The custom dining table I saw was faced with an optional Port Laurent marble top and sides. The standard one comes with black crystal. The eight chairs are from Molteni.

Also on this deck are a single-seat lower helm and an adjacent galley beneath the windshield and skylights, which can be screened. The idea is to place these crew areas together with doors to the side decks, which are protected by nearly full top-deck overhangs. The helm and galley can be partitioned off for privacy too.

Performance is also notable. The 82′ Diva is based on a new hull form with standard twin 1,800 hp MAN V-12 diesels. The builder promises a top speed of around 29 knots and a 26-knot fast cruise, at which range should be about 300 nautical miles with the yacht’s 1,700 gallons of fuel. The 82′ Diva I got aboard had 1,900 hp MAN V-12s, which Riva says deliver a top speed of around 31 knots at half load. We couldn’t quite manage those numbers in calm seas off Cannes, France, where the yacht topped out at around 28 knots, but the boat was heavy with a big generator, 88 percent fuel, 100 percent water, a Williams SportJet 395 tender and 16 people aboard. I ran it with the Humphree dynamic trim system active and the Sleipner Vector Fin stabilizers on, and I turned the Seakeeper 18 on and off. I thought the props could use some fine-tuning, or perhaps the bottom needed a scrub, costing us a knot or two. This 82′ Diva had logged around 2,000 nm in most types of weather. At a fast cruise of 27 knots, range with the bigger engines should be 250 nm to 270 nm. The driving positions are great inside and out. Each console has standard 16-inch Simrad multifunction displays (three below and two up top), with the option of 19-inch displays. The electrohydraulic steering is nicely responsive. Wind the wheel over hard, and the yacht heels gently into any turn, but comes around surprisingly quickly, given a displacement of more than 170,000 pounds.

Guest accommodations are conventional, with all four en suite staterooms on the lower deck. The owner’s stateroom is amidships with a corner sofa and a whopping 7 feet, 6 inches of headroom (beneath the elevated dining table). The forepeak VIP stateroom has 6-foot-7-inch headroom. The two other guest staterooms have twin berths; the starboard one converts to a double. Crew’s quarters are between the owner’s stateroom and the engine room, with discreet access to the starboard side deck. The standard layout is for three crew in two cabins, with a head-shower and an optional washer-dryer.

Rivas are also good with what can’t be seen. For a planing design with big, powerful engines, the 82′ Diva is fundamentally a quiet yacht. I registered just 67 decibels on my meter in the owner’s stateroom at maximum speed, and around 65 decibels at a fast, low-20s cruise. That’s the same noise level as laughter or normal conversation.

Long-term success for any brand can be measured by its consistency from product to product, year in and year out, as well as its ability to evolve with its customers and attract new ones. The Riva 82′ Diva hits bull’s-eyes on all these elements. It has first-rate fit and finish, impressive performance, and many examples of luxury, performance and sophistication. Riva’s production line should be buzzing for years to come.

31m Riva motor yacht Stile di Vita joins market

The 31.1-metre Riva motor yacht Stile di Vita has joined the market with Pantelis Stathis of IYC.

The Riva 102 Corsaro Super model was designed throughout by Officina Italiana Design , led by Mauro Micheli, and built of GRP in Italy by Riva. Delivered in 2023, her naval architecture is by Ferretti Engineering Department . Her black superstructure sports a highly-raked dark-tinted windscreen giving her a racy appearance.

Accommodation is provided for 10 guests in five cabins, that the broker said are of "high volume" and "sophisticated and stylish" featuring wood, marble and leather with exquisite detailing. The bottom of the windows in the owner's suite forward have been lowered, compared to the previous model, to give better views of the sea. There are quarters for a crew of five.

The tri-deck yacht boasts 100 square metres of open-air living space and 140 square metres of glass surfaces, allowing for panoramic vistas.

As well as the sundeck, guests can sunbathe on the foredeck or sit in forward-facing seating further towards the bow for an exhilarating feeling of speed. At rest, rear-facing seats on the swim platform are a great place to unwind after a jetski ride or swim. Her garage fits a Williams DieselJet 445 tender.

The 171GT, RINA-classed yacht for sale has a cruising speed of 24 knots and top speed of 27.5 knots under twin 2,638hp MTU engines.

Stile di Vita is asking $14,000,000.

Ferrari Made a Boat? Check Out the Testarossa of the Seas

A n unexpected fruit of sowing anthological models during the 1980s and generating a marked style with them was this boat created by Ferrari, an aquatic proposal courtesy of the Italian brand in collaboration with Riva, the firm specialized in luxury boats, and launched in 1990 as a limited edition.

Riva Ferrari 32: A Design Inspired by the Testarossa

Named Riva Ferrari 32 - the 32 refers to its 32 feet of length, equivalent to almost 10 meters - this machine, whose last media appearance occurred at the Fort Lauderdale, Florida auction in 2022, was the brainchild of Enzo Ferrari and Gino Gervasoni, president of Cantieri Riva at the time.

The legacy of the Ferrari Testarossa is evident in its design. The side vents are the visual elements that most reflect its inspiration, the conceptual adaptation of the iconic berlinetta. What else can be said about this particular product in terms of its appearance and equipment? Since it's a boat based on cars, what powers it?

Rosso Corsa takes over its entire exterior. Red, white, and black. This is how its bodywork looks. White for the elegant interior and black applied to the unmistakable spoiler. Luxury continues inside. There, at the bow, awaits the room with a double bed shaped to the shape of the ship, a bathroom, and a sound system for entertainment.

Of course, the Riva Ferrari, manufactured in 40 units, does not have the 12-cylinder at 180 degrees characteristic of the Testarossa, but it has two Vulcano 400 V-8 engines, both independently controlled, of 390 horsepower each and which, through Borg Warner transmissions connected to the rear propellers, establish a maximum speed of 54 knots (62 mph, 100 km/h) on the boat.

Prior to the aforementioned auction, more than $100,000 were invested in the Riva Ferrari 32 for restoration, which resulted in an estimated value of $150,000. The sale undoubtedly exceeded expectations, as its buyer ended up paying $300,000 for it, doubling its asking price.
