Riviera 4600 sport yacht european premiere at cannes yachting festival.

Australia’s premium luxury motor yacht builder, Riviera, has announced the European Premiere of the superb new 4600 Sport Yacht Platinum Edition to lead their showcase at the Cannes Yachting Festival opening on September 6.

The new 4600 Sport Yacht Platinum Edition is an outstanding example of innovation, luxury and inspiring spaces, offering three staterooms including a full beam midships master and two bathrooms.

The showcase will also include the 6000 Sport Yacht Platinum Edition and the 39 Open Flybridge, both fine examples of elegant Riviera design and build excellence.

Riviera owners and yachting admirers will be welcomed aboard at the Pantiero in the Vieux Port in Cannes from September 6 to September 11.

Riviera Australia owner Rodney Longhurst said Riviera and the European dealer representatives are very proud to display these magnificent yachts from Riviera’s diverse 24-model collection from 39 to 78 feet, where every yacht shares a 42-year heritage of evolution and blue-water hull design.

Riviera 4600 Sport Yacht Platinum Edition – European Premiere

Featuring the luxurious refinement of the Riviera Platinum Edition, the new 4600 Sport Yacht is an outstanding example of style and innovation.

From the generous hydraulic swim platform, a garage, designed to store a range of water sports equipment under the cockpit, can be accessed through an electrically operated door.

A new entertainer’s cockpit has been created with a wrap-around lounge across the transom and port side with a timber dining table. A barbecue centre is to starboard.

The airy saloon flows to the cockpit through a sliding glass door and awning window. A fully equipped U-shape galley is located on the port side of the saloon space, immediately aft of the helm. A servery and bar unit are opposite. The plush dining space is forward on the starboard side, featuring a large timber table surrounded by a luxurious U-shape lounge that will seat up to six people.

The 4600 provides three staterooms and two bathrooms on the light-filled accommodation deck including a full-beam master amidships featuring full head height, a central king size bed and large hull windows that fill the space with natural light.

Power aboard the 4600 Sport Yacht is provided by twin Volvo Penta D6-IPS650s delivering 353kW (480hp) each or Volvo Penta D8-IPS800s delivering 441kW (600hp) each.

Charlise Mutten had an apparently happy Christmas with her mother. Weeks later, she was dead

In December 2021, nine-year-old Charlise Mutten flew from the Gold Coast to Sydney to spend a month with her mother over the Christmas break.

She never went home.

On the day she was due to fly back to the Gold Coast, police uncovered her body dumped in a barrel near the Colo River in the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney. She had gunshots to the head and back.

Her mother’s fiance, Justin Stein, 33, pleaded not guilty to killing the schoolgirl at the start of an estimated six-week murder trial on Monday.

At the heart of the trial is Stein’s claim that he didn’t kill Charlise – instead, he alleges, it was her mother, Kallista Mutten.

Stein admits helping dispose of the girl’s body, according to his lawyer Carolyn Davenport SC, helping explain why he was caught on camera towing a boat with his ute, allegedly with the barrel containing Charlise’s body on the back.

Prison program relationship

Mutten met Stein through a prison program while both were serving jail time, the jury heard this week, with the couple continuing their relationship once they were released.

A longtime ice user, Mutten conceded legal custody of her daughter to the girl’s grandparents after being sentenced to three years’ jail for a driving incident in which her passenger was killed.

Stein was jailed for five years over a failed cocaine importation attempt. At the time of Charlise’s death, he was undergoing treatment for heroin addiction.

Mutten and Stein were caught on camera in August 2021, breaking into a house in the Blue Mountains. During the break in they allegedly stole two rifles – a BSA .22 calibre bolt action and Winchester .30 calibre lever action – and one of those is central to the crown case, prosecutor Ken McKay SC said.

Charlise had lived with her grandparents at Tweed Heads, on the New South Wales-Queensland border, from about the age of four, after it became apparent Mutten was unable to properly care for her. The court was told Mutten struggled with drug-related mental health issues.

Charlise’s grandfather, Clinton Mutten, gave evidence as the trial’s first witness, remembering the nine-year-old as an unusually bright and well behaved youngster who loved animals and dreamed of becoming a veterinarian.

A happy Christmas visit gone wrong

During Charlise’s Christmas visit, she, Stein and Mutten spent their time between a property at Mount Wilson, which was owned by Stein’s mother, and a caravan at Riviera Ski Park roughly 90 minutes away.

The trip may have initially been a happy one, with photos from Christmas Day sent by Mutten showing a healthy and beaming Charlise who by all accounts was pleased to be there.

Two weeks later, on the morning of 14 January, Mutten called police, reporting her daughter missing.

Prosecutors are largely relying on mobile phone data, including text messages and location records, to shed light on what happened to the schoolgirl, by tracking the movements of Stein and Mutten in the days leading up to her death.

The crown alleges on the evening of 12 January, Stein travelled back to the Mount Wilson property alone with Charlise, while Mutten remained at the caravan park.

Police ultimately found Charlise’s body by using Google location data stored on Stein’s phone, which showed him stop at a remote point on the Colo River where the barrel was found for roughly five minutes in the early hours of 13 January.

Before allegedly having dumped the body, the location data indicates Stein travelled to at least three separate boat ramps across Sydney – at Rose Bay, Drummoyne and Windsor, the court heard.

During the trip, Stein was captured on camera buying five 20kg bags of sand which prosecutors allege he put in the barrel to weigh it down.

Much of the first week of the trial was taken up by evidence from officer in charge of the investigation, Det Sgt Bradley Gardiner, during which key exhibits were tendered to the court.

The trial is yet to hear from Mutten, who has been flagged as a key witness and who prosecutors say may appear in the coming week.

BALTIMORE (AP) — The cargo ship Dali experienced electrical blackouts about 10 hours before leaving the Port of Baltimore and yet again shortly before it slammed into the Francis Key Bridge and killed six construction workers , federal investigators said Tuesday, providing the most detailed account yet of the tragedy.

The first power outage occurred after a crew member mistakenly closed an exhaust damper while conducting maintenance, causing one of the ship’s diesel engines to stall, investigators with the National Transportation Safety Board said in their preliminary report. Shortly after leaving Baltimore early on March 26, the ship crashed into one of the bridge’s supporting columns because another power outage caused it to lose steering and propulsion at the exact worst moment.

The report provides new details about how the ship’s crew addressed the power issues it experienced while still docked in Baltimore. A full investigation could take a year or more, according to the safety board.

Testing of the ship’s fuel did not reveal any concerns related to its quality, according to the report.

The Dali was headed from Baltimore to Sri Lanka, laden with shipping containers and enough supplies for a monthlong voyage.

After the initial blackout caused by the closed exhaust damper, investigators say a backup generator automatically came on. It continued to run for a short period — until insufficient fuel pressure caused it to kick off again, resulting in a second blackout. That’s when crew members made changes to the ship’s electrical configuration, switching from one transformer and breaker system that had been in use for several months to another that was active upon its departure, according to the report.

Investigators stopped short of drawing a direct line between those earlier power issues and the blackout that ultimately caused the bridge collapse.

“The NTSB is still investigating the electrical configuration following the first in-port blackout and potential impacts on the events during the accident voyage,” investigators wrote.

The safety board launched its investigation almost immediately after the collapse, which sent six members of a roadwork crew plunging to their deaths. Investigators boarded the ship to document the scene and collect evidence, including the vessel’s data recorder and information from its engine room, according to board chair Jennifer Homendy. Investigators also interviewed the captain and crew members.

“Our mission is to determine why something happened, how it happened and to prevent it from recurring,” Homendy said at a news conference days after the disaster.

The preliminary report details the chaotic moments prior to the bridge collapse while crew members scrambled to address a series of electrical failures that came in quick succession as disaster loomed.

At 1:25 a.m. on March 26, when the Dali was a little over half a mile away from the bridge, electrical breakers that fed most of the ship’s equipment and lighting unexpectedly tripped, causing a power loss. The main propulsion diesel engine automatically shut down after its cooling pumps lost power, and the ship lost steering.

Crew members were able to momentarily restore electricity by manually closing the tripped breakers, the report says.

Around that time, the ship’s pilots called for tugboats to come help guide the wayward vessel. The tugboats that guided it out of the port had peeled off earlier per normal practice, according to the report. Crew members also started the process of dropping anchor, and the pilots’ dispatcher called the Maryland Transportation Authority Police and relayed that the ship had lost power. The pilots’ dispatcher notified the Coast Guard.

The ship was less than a quarter of a mile from the bridge when it experienced a second power blackout because of more tripped breakers, according to the report. The crew again restored power, but it was too late to avoid striking the bridge.

One of the pilots ordered the rudder turned at the last minute, but since the main engine remained shut down, there was no propulsion to assist with steering, the report says. They also made a mayday call that allowed police to stop traffic to the bridge.

At 1:29 a.m., the 1.6-mile steel span came crashing down into the Patapsco River. The construction workers were sitting in their vehicles during a break when disaster struck.

The last of the victims’ bodies was recovered last week.

One member of the seven-person roadwork crew survived the collapse by somehow freeing himself from his work truck. He was rescued from the water later that morning. A road maintenance inspector also survived by running to safety in the moments before the bridge fell.

On Monday, crews conducted a controlled demolition to break down the largest remaining span of the collapsed bridge, which landed draped across the Dali’s bow, pinning the grounded ship amid the wreckage. The ship is expected to be refloated and guided back to the Port of Baltimore in the coming days.

It arrived in the U.S. from Singapore on March 19, a week before the crash, according to the report. It made stops in Newark, New Jersey, and Norfolk, Virginia, before coming to Baltimore. Investigators said they were not aware of any other power outages occurring in those ports.

They said they’re working with Hyundai, the manufacturer of the ship’s electrical system, to “identify the cause(s) of the breakers unexpectedly opening while approaching the Key Bridge and the subsequent blackouts.”

The board’s preliminary report released Tuesday likely includes a fraction of the findings that will be presented in its final report, which is expected to take more than a year.

The FBI has also launched a criminal investigation into the circumstances leading up to the collapse.
