In times like these, there are few more luxurious ways to ensure social distancing than by renting a yacht to take you out to sea. This is the time when things usually get busy on the seas. But 2020, as we know, is a bit different. Several ports across the country are still not fully operational forcing yacht owners to move their vessels to friendlier seas. While those based in India can still cruise through the country's waters, the ones that sailed abroad when the lockdown hit cannot return to Indian ports just yet. Thankfully, there are still some options for you off the waters of Mumbai, Goa and the Maldives .

Incidentally, it was the Wadias who built India's first sailing craft that traded spices and commodities across the Arabian Sea.

The modern cruiser exudes an East-meets-West vibe. It's grandeur is enhanced by a spacious tri-deck. There's a seven-man jacuzzi on its uppermost desk that is probably the largest and most voluminous of any yacht this size.

While the vessel usually makes yearly trips down to the Maldives from Goa right through sailing season from October to April-May, it is currently docked in the Maldives and is open for cruises around the atolls. A seven-day package sees the crew sail past Malé to various atolls every day.

All yacht in Goa have a limitation as to the number of guests which can be accommodated on board. This relates to the rules and regulations for the safety of passengers and is determined for each yacht in Goa based on the number of berths (individual sleeping places) and safety equipment. The maximum number of guests on board is usually 12, which is dictated by the general rules for commercial vessels, although some larger yacht in Goa can accommodate up to 40 guests.

• The Yacht shall be returned to the End Port on the date and time as specified in Charterer’s invoice.
• In case of delay on return, Charterer has to pay the prorated charter fee applicable.

Smoking is not permitted inside most yachts. However please consult us for verification, as this policy may vary on certain yachts. For safety reasons, smoking in cabins and staterooms is prohibited on all yachts. Some yacht will allow smoking in designated outdoor areas.

Well before you board your yacht, we will ask you to complete a detailed questionnaire describing the preferences and special needs of all the members of your party, such as dietary or medical requirements, details of any allergies, and your sporting or entertainment requests. This will enable us and the crew of your chosen yacht in Goa to ensure that everything possible is done to make your charter a wonderful experience.

All charter companies in Goa must adhere to local Captain of Ports laws and regulations. This is your primary protection, and in most cases, the rules are quite strict. For instance, in Goa, the Coast Guard regularly checks papers of the boats and there are large fines if anything is missing. All operators also must carry insurance by law. You have every right to see these papers prior to embarkation. Beyond this, we work only with reliable operators, who have a track record of success and happy customers. A jet ski is a trademark personal watercraft (PWC) owned by Kawasaki. Used as a generic term for all watercraft with a similar configuration to that of a motorcycle, the jet ski is majorly used for recreational purposes. A PWC is also known as a water scooter and comes in a “stand-up” or “sit-down” variant that relies on an inboard engine for propulsion. Most models can accommodate a maximum of three people. On-the-spot booking and payment is not possible. Advance booking is mandatory.

Morning and afternoon slots:  Book at least 2 to 5 days prior. Evening slots:  Book at least 5 to 7 days prior. Weekend slots:  Book at least 7 to 10 days prior.

You can also make a booking on the same day or 1 day prior.  It all depends on availability of the yacht you wish to book.  If at the time you decide to book, the yacht is available, you can pay and book it.

The total booking duration is 2 hours. In these 2 hours, the sailing duration is approx. 1 hour 30 minutes. So, 1 hour 30 minutes is the time you will spend on the booked yacht.

30 minutes are kept aside for travelling from the shore to the yacht and then after sailing, from the yacht back to the shore.

No. The minimum booking duration for sailing in Mumbai is 2 hours. The actual sailing time is approx. 1 hour 30 minutes.

This is the recommended time duration for a good sailing experience overall. Less than 1 hour 30 minutes feels incomplete and more than this feels a bit tiring.

On small sailboats and yachts, we usually do not recommend you to book for 3 or 4 hours as it may make you feel a little dizzy. 1 hour and 30 minutes of sailing time is just ideal for a good sailing experience. However, you can book for longer duration at an additional cost.

Yes. There will be a trained and experienced sailor on the yacht to sail the yacht for you.

You will sail approximately 1.2 km to 2.5 km out into the open sea. You will not be seen from the shore from Gateway of India.

Knowing how to swim is not mandatory for sailing cruises in Mumbai. You will be given a lifejacket to wear.

You will get a beautiful view of the Gateway of India and Taj hotel as you begin. You will pass by the boats and yachts parked in the Mumbai harbour as you sail out into the open sea. The view of the shore from the sea is truly magnificent. You will get a view of the lighthouses (Sunk Rock light house, Dolphin light house, Prongs light house), structures built in the middle of the sea (Oyster Rock and Middle Ground) and if you are lucky, you may also spot dolphins!

You have to reach the sailing venue (Jetty No. 5) just 15 minutes prior to your booking start time.

For example, if you book the 4:00 pm to 06:00 pm slot, your reporting time will be 03:45 pm

You will get to go sailing even if you reach late by some time. However, please note that the sailing time is not extended beyond your booking end time.

We do not provide assistance with parking vehicles at the sailing venue.

There is a pay and park service in the lanes around Taj Hotel. You will have to find parking on your own and then walk to the sailing venue (Jetty No. 5).

Once your plan is finalised (decided which yacht you wish to book, date and time slot), you will have to make payment to confirm the booking.

Payment can be done via bank transfer (NEFT / IMPS), UPI, Google Pay, credit card, debit card and net banking. We will share our company bank details / online payment link with you via email or WhatsApp.

The apex court directive had an instant impact. Stocks of hospitals and healthcare companies took a beating over the next two days. The Association of Healthcare Providers (AHPI), which represents medium and small private hospitals, has written to the Union health ministry and decided to approach the Supreme Court. Apart from practical challenges and the unviability of uniform rates for hospitals, a pan Indian implementation may warrant a change in legislation. This is because only 12 states and seven Union territories (UTs) have adopted the Act. Giridhar Gyani, director general, Association of Healthcare Providers (India), led a delegation to Union health secretary Apurva Chandra on February 29, pointing out that there was no scientific study on the cost of medical procedures. AHPI has, therefore, recommended drawing up costs for various procedures based on established scientific principles and fixing rates in the ‘range’ to address the categorisation of establishments. It is also preparing for an intervention in the Supreme Court with its viewpoint. Implementing the Supreme Court diktat across hospitals is fraught with challenges. “The directions of the Honourable Supreme Court are noble in intention and spirit. However, we firmly believe that enforcing a national standardised pricing for all categories of patients will not lead to the improvement of healthcare provision in our country,” emphasises Viren Prasad Shetty, executive vice chairman of Bengaluru-headquartered Narayana Health. He points out the private healthcare industry faces a complex challenge of balancing affordability, quality and accessibility against growth and financial sustainability. According to Shetty, the objective in India should be to ensure that all patients can access the care they need at a fair quality at an affordable price. He avers that a single price for all procedures penalises high quality, reduces patient choice and forces India’s best and brightest doctors to leave the country.

Shetty reasons that the solution to providing universal, good-quality and affordable healthcare lies in investing in public healthcare infrastructure and promoting health insurance for those who prefer to get treated at private hospitals. “It is impossible to expect the average Indian to have access to Rs 2 lakh on hand in case they need emergency surgery, but they can all afford few thousand rupees in insurance premiums. This would enhance price transparency, accommodate patients from multiple financial backgrounds, align pricing with quality metrics, and give patients their choice of healthcare provider,” he explains. “As a modern economy, India provides the space for multiple healthcare models to co-exist. We cannot turn the clock backwards towards a command and control economy with rationed services.”

What can make this transition possible, with lesser pain, is a regulator for hospitals--that would serve as the voice of the customer—to ensure standardisation in treatment quality, service, provision of cashless facilities and convenience for patients. In moving towards this, the apex court has raised hopes with its directive.
