Come sail with us in luxury on Respite , our 42 foot sailing catamaran.

We will do everything we can to ensure you and your friends or your family have a spectacular water and wind experience.

We offer hourly, half-day, full-day, and sunset cruises and extended sailing packages from our base in New Bern, North Carolina. From New Bern, we can sail the Neuse River for a relaxing time on the water. We can pull into Upper Broad Creek or Goose Creek and drop the hook for some swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, or floating around. We offer brunch cruises, sunset/dinner cruises and overnighters. Join us for a relaxing day on the water and then dine at one of the many fine restaurants in New Bern. How about an extended trip to Ocracoake (the Caribbean of the Atlantic), Wilmington/Carolina Beach, historic Charleston, South Carolina? Feeling really adventurous? How about the Bahamas or the US Virgin Islands (depending on where we are from December through April)?

Welcome to Sea Harbour

You’ve found Sea Harbour Yacht Club in Oriental in North Carolina, providing skippers and their families a private retreat on a tranquil creek. Many say it is the finest marina facility in the area.

By concept and location the Club is insulated from the intrusions of transient docks, charter fleets, yacht sales and repair yards.

The marina is exclusively yours for an uncrowded, quiet and relaxed boating lifestyle. The Club is a family playground where adults have more fun than the kids. Do as little or as much as you want. Settle down in the cockpit with a book and nearby bird songs. Relax in a rocking chair on the wrap around deck and enjoy the breeze in the sun or the shade. The lounge has a TV for that important game, a table for working on your project or comfortable chair in a cool corner to avoid the midday sun. In the evening you can discuss the plan for tomorrow’s sail, next week’s cruise or the jump to the islands for the winter with folks who have been there and done that. The kid’s lobby provides a gathering place for the younger set to socialize. The large lawns provide a place for them to work off excess energy at volley ball, badminton, or just running around. Everyone meets at the pool side for a refreshing dip or to share drinks and conversation.

All of these amenities are surrounded by areas of marsh and trees which provide a natural retreat in a hectic world. The Club shelters some rare natural companions: Otters swim the creek at dawn, Osprey nest on the markers in Spring, and Pelicans fish year round. Our creek is designated as a “Primary Nursery Area” by the NC Wildlife Resources Commission with breeding stocks of fin fish, shrimp and crab. This designation helps preserve the natural state of the creek, restricting the kind of intensive development which has taken place in some other areas. At Sea Harbour, your boat is nestled close to pine forested creek shores protected from wind and wave action, but you’re only a half-mile from the Neuse River. The river is five miles wide at the creek entrance. Oriental’s harbor is one and a half miles upstream and Pamlico Sound and several hundred square miles of cruising and fishing waters are just ten miles downstream. When you’re in the area , please stop in and visit Sea Harbour. We’re proud of it and like to show visitors around. ABOUT ORIENTAL

Oriental was settled by Lewis B. Midyette in the 1870’s. Legend says that "Uncle Lew" anchored his sailboat in the protected waters of Oriental to escape a gale. He was sailing from New Bern back to his home in Dare County where he was a farmer and a fisherman. Storytellers claim that the next morning Lew went ashore and climbed a tree. He was captured by the beautiful landscape and all of the waterfront created by the many creeks. He returned home to persuade others to join his family in moving to the area.

Oriental, North Carolina

Oriental, a 19th Century fishing village on the Neuse River near the Pamlico Sound, has been known for decades as “North Carolina’s Sailing Capital”. At ICW marker 181, Oriental is a popular stop for cruising sailors on their trek north or south.

Home port for 900 people – and some 2,700 boats – Oriental is also coming to be known as “North Carolina’s In-shore Fishing Capital”, as anglers can find a wide variety of sport and game species present year-round.

The Neuse River, 5 miles wide at its mouth, provides unparalleled year-round sailing while the village offers a fine selection of shops, restaurants, inns, B&Bs, marinas, boatyards and brokerages. We think you will agree that Oriental is the perfect little town for a boat show.
