Oceanco’s 105m M/Y 'H' reimagined

The dutch custom yacht builder delivers a complete transformation of the 105m yacht….

Oceanco has re-launched the 105m motor yacht H as part of an impressive rebuild project at its construction facilities in the Netherlands. 1050H has undergone a complete transformation and is now a fully contemporary vessel.

The impressive results delivered by the famously experimental Dutch custom yacht builder reinforce its reputation for tackling challenging projects and delivering industry firsts. H boasts a modern exterior aesthetic, including a completely new superstructure, alongside a fresh interior by Reymond Langton Design.

Oceanco’s CEO Marcel Onkenhout comments: “To say that this has been a remarkable process is an understatement. The project has called for passion, dedication, and extraordinary craftsmanship, with many involved in her creation now contributing to her recreation, including myself. We are proud to say that we are relaunching a completely new Oceanco.”

The complete reimagining of 1050H demonstrates the potential to give iconic yachts longevity. The A Group’s Richard Hein, who acted as the independent owner’s representative for the project, adds: “This almost unimaginable transformation has been able to take place thanks to the shared trust, perseverance and expertise of the team involved. A yacht is more than just the materialization of an owner’s vision. It has its own character, its own specific habitat, with a unique purpose and story. Through the achievements of this project we have been able to extend the story of a remarkable superyacht for decades to come. It is about seeing the potential for all vessels, rather than starting from a blank sheet of paper each time.”

Contemporary standards in terms of technology, safety, capability, and sustainability have been adhered to. H has an operational profile that is fully compliant with rigorous IMO Tier III standards, not to mention upgrades to its technological capabilities across the board.

Considering the need to improve sustainable practices within the industry, bringing an existing superyacht’s environmental profile in line with up-to-date standards, rather than churning out new builds, represents a move to more environmentally friendly practices.

“It is a proud moment for me to see the nearing completion of this transformation, having personally been involved in returning 1050H to her birthplace for this ambitious project” added Dr. Barwani, Chairman of Oceanco.

The rebuild benefitted from a year’s reduced timetable for completion thanks to the decrease in time spent on engineering and hull construction.

“It is our ambition that this landmark project will inspire owners of existing yachts to benefit from the gift of time while adding value to their ownership experience as well as the planet. Through this approach, icons have the potential to become the new faces of tomorrow,” comments Oceanco Marketing Director Paris Baloumis.

The graph below indicates an increase in the average LOA of Oceanco's builds in 2022. Historical data shows that in the last eight years, Oceanco delivered the highest number of units in 2018 and the least in 2020 and 2021.

Luxury motor yacht 'H (BF 203) is a beautiful Fast Displacement 140' series vessel, launched by the leading Italian manufacturer Benetti in 2015. Superyacht 'H has been superbly penned by Stefano Righini.

'H Specifications

Spanning over three lovely decks, Benetti BF 203 luxury yacht H provides deluxe accommodation for up to 10 guests in the owner’s apartment on the main deck and four guest cabins on the lower deck. The main deck also hosts the main salon with bar zone and bridge. The dining area with a large expandable table is positioned on the upper deck along with a second salon. Moreover, there are two sunbathing areas: forward of the upper deck with Jacuzzi, and for the complete length of the sun deck with a corner bar.

BF 203 super yacht H by Benetti is equipped with twin five blade propellers and twin power plants developing 2,580kW each, with a straight propeller shaft configuration. When reaching 17 or 18 knots, the Wave Piercer comes into play. This increases the effective waterline length, giving the vessel better performance and efficiency.

H Motor yacht for sale

The 35.3m (115.7ft) GRANDE 36M features a highly efficient displacement-to-planing hull form, reducing fuel consumption and emissions by up to 30 percent compared to standard hull designs. She is of GRP and carbon fibre construction and built to RINA classification by the Italian shipyard Azimut. Her exterior design is by Alberto Mancini and Achille Salvagni styled her interiors, giving her all-Italian flair.

On the sun deck is a wet bar and U-shaped bench seating beneath the hardtop with a sun lounge aft. The upper deck aft has two lounging areas, one beneath the overhang and another in full sun, as well as a buffet bar. To port the sidedeck leads to a foredeck lounge with seating, a large sunpad and a glass jacuzzi.

The main deck aft has an al fresco lounge with a sofa and chaise longue seating that is served by a wet bar. Steps aft lead down to the large swim platform and beach club with rain shower, while the starboard sidedeck leads up to the foredeck lounge.

An open-plan main saloon has two lounge areas, one with sofa seating the other with armchairs and huge picture windows combining with cut-down bulwarks to deliver exceptional views. The upper deck has the wheelhouse forward with a formal dining area aft surrounded by floor-to-ceiling glass that slides away to open the space on three sides.

The 36M TRIDECK welcomes 10 guests in five cabins. There are four en suite guest cabins on the lower deck; two double VIP suites aft and two twin cabins forward of them. Forward of the guest suites is the crew mess and accommodation for five crew.

Forward on the main deck is the owner's suite, with huge picture windows either side. It features an island king-sized double berth, a lounge area, and en suite with shower room forward. Aft of the owner's suite, the galley and dayhead are off the lobby.

Lady H is built with a GRP hull and GRP superstructure. Powered by twin MTU engines, she comfortably cruises at 12 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 15 knots with a range of up to 3,800 nautical miles from her 42,500 litre fuel tanks at cruising speed.

Onboard Lady H has a range of toys and accessories to keep you and your guests entertained on the water throughout your stay. Principle among these are towable toys offering fun and adventure. In addition there are waterskis that are hugely entertaining whether you are a beginner or a seasoned pro. Also there are two SEABOBs providing agile cruising and diving. If that isn't enough Lady H also features wakeboards, kayaks, paddleboards and snorkelling equipment. Lady H features two tenders, but leading the pack is a 8.53m/28' Nautic Star Outboard to transport you in style.

Lady H and her crew are available for charter this summer for cruising within the Mediterranean. She is already accepting bookings this winter for cruising in the Caribbean.

The cat is also equipped with a hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system that ensures a maximum speed of 30 knots at full tilt. If that’s not enough grunt, an optional generator can provide an additional 180 kW of electrical power. In addition, a paravane kite can be added to the vessel to lower overall fuel consumption and maybe even increase speed.

“This model represents ultimate versatility in a sub-79-foot, owner-operator platform, and the embodiment of our commitment to delivering exceptional experiences on the water,” Weatherley said in a statement. “I am very excited to see this project come to life and welcome the customer on board for some unforgettable journeys at sea.”

Inside, the open-plan main salon is outfitted with a bar, a day galley, and expansive windows that offer panoramic views. The two hulls are home guest accommodation for 12, the main galley, and the crew quarters, while the wheelhouse serves as an adaptable entertainment space with another bar and alfresco seating. You can also choose to add a hot tub to the wheelhouse’s shaded balcony.

The 80 has substantial exterior decks given its length. The aft cockpit centers around a large “working area” that can store tenders, toys, or expedition gear. The built-in crane could move a 20-foot ISO container or a personal sub, for example. Alternatively, the aft area can be used for outdoor entertaining or other activities such as fishing.

All signs point to Mark Zuckerberg celebrating his 40th birthday on what many speculate is his brand-new superyacht Launchpad .

The boating world has been buzzing about Launchpad — a 118-meter yacht built by the Dutch shipyard Feadship — for months, with rumors swirling that her owner is none other than the Meta CEO. But in the yachting world, where privacy is paramount , no party would confirm her owner.

"It is Feadship's standard policy to never divulge any information about our yachts with reference to ownership, costs, or delivery, etc," Feadship, the ship's builder, wrote to Business Insider in March. "Whether it is an 18-meter Feadship from the 1960s or a 118-meter Feadship from the 21st century, we do not share private information."

Now there's even more evidence: The megayacht arrived in Panama on Monday, making her way there from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where she's predominantly been moored since she made her maiden voyage across the Atlantic in March, according to public ship-tracking data. Wingman, the support superyacht that he is suspected to have purchased with Launchpad, made the journey with her.

Zuckerberg's plane also landed in Panama on Monday, per a private jet tracker, and if his Instagram is any indication, he was on board.

Putting two and two together — along with the many other clues linking Zuckerberg to the yacht — we can surmise that the Meta CEO is likely kicking off his new decade aboard his new toy.

Little is known about the luxury vessel, which was said to have been built for a sanctioned Russian businessman before it was handed over to the Dutch government, which served as a middleman for the purchase. Her final purchase price is unknown, but it's safe to say a yacht of that size from that shipyard would cost nine figures upfront and six figures a year to maintain.

The few photos of Launchpad available on the industry site SuperYacht Times show there appears to be a helipad and a swimming pool on her main deck.

A vessel of her size can typically sleep dozens of guests and crewmembers and likely has an expansive gym (where Zuckerberg could practice his jiu-jitsu), a spa, a movie room, and a garage to fit plenty of toys like his viral hydrofoil .

Zuckerberg's name was first connected to Launchpad in December when reports swirled that he visited Feadship's shipyard in the Netherlands. By March, yachting blogs like eSysman SuperYachts and Autoevolution suggested he officially snagged the boat at a $300 million price tag. Launchpad also bears the flag of the Marshall Islands, a US territory that is commonplace for American buyers to register their ships.

We will never know for sure whose name is on her title, so unless Zuckerberg confirms he's Launchpad's owner, we will have to wait for an invitation to Zuck's birthday party to confirm.

Feadship launches world’s first hydrogen fuel cell-powered superyacht.

Now that Project 821 has emerged from a massive build shed in The Netherlands, few superyacht shipyards can say they’ve made a “bigger” commitment to using alternative energy sources in a superyacht than Feadship .

That’s because this new, 390-foot-long superyacht (designed by RWD with owner’s representation by Edmiston ) can provide carbon-emission-free power from hydrogen while cruising between harbors or, to power the yacht’s the entire hotel load for up to a week without noise or carbon emissions.

"The aim has been to develop a new, clean technology not just for this project, but for the world," said Jan-Bart Verkuyl, Feadship Director / CEO Royal Van Lent Shipyard. The large size of the proposed yacht made it a good candidate to explore pure green hydrogen as the fuel-cell source. For those captivated by cutting-edge innovations, this yacht presents an opportunity for potential acquisition as it showcases the pinnacle of modern technological advancements.”

Although hydrogen fuel cell-powered cars and fuel cells are not new, nothing like this has been built in the yachting sector. And since there were no regulations for hydrogen storage and fuel-cell systems at class, flag-state or even IMO level, Feadship sought out expert partners from allied industries, Edmiston and Lloyd's Register to develop the appropriately scaled equipment, protocols and safety regulations simultaneously.

"The value of the research as well the development of class and flag safety regulations for an entirely new type of energy generation is an advancement we are proud to have made available to all," Verkuyl said. Next year, for example, two long-route Norwegian passenger and car ferries will enter into service utilizing the system that Project 821 has pioneered.

According to advance reports Project 821’s fuel cell technology can provide an entire week's worth of silent operation at anchor or emission-free propulsion at 10 knots while leaving harbors or cruising in protected marine zones. The full owners' deck above the bridge is essentially an apartment with two bedrooms, twin bathrooms and dressing rooms, a gym, a pantry, two offices each with a fireplace, and a living room. However, the owner accommodation extends beyond a single deck. A unique and completely private vertical corridor extends to the lower deck. This includes both a spacious staircase lined with bookshelves and display nooks and an owners' elevator.

At each deck level, there are inviting private lifestyle destinations to savor such as a coffee corner and games niche on the bridge deck, a library on the main deck, and a private dining room with a sea terrace and adjacent ensuite stateroom on the lower deck. It creates, in essence, a secluded four-level townhouse-by-the sea within the much larger yacht.

Feadship's Project 821 is nearly 400-feet-long.

Jan-Bart Verkuyl says fuel cells will play an important role for yachts in the years to come considering their superior efficiency, low particle emissions and low noise radiation. "We have now shown that cryogenic storage of liquified hydrogen in the interior of a superyacht is a viable solution. Future innovations on fuel cells and onboard reforming of methanol to hydrogen are on the near horizon. For Feadship, the bottom line is that the decarbonization of Feadship's upstream process such as our extensive use of aluminum produced in a more environmentally sensitive way and the production of net-zero carbon-free fuels or hydrogen carriers deserves utmost priority."

Jamie Edmiston (Chief Executive) also shares his experience with this project. "The brief was to build the greenest and most environmentally advanced yacht ever built, without compromise. It was a huge challenge, but one that the team has embraced and delivered on. The yacht we see today, designed by RWD and built by Feadship is without doubt the best yacht ever built. I am proud to have been involved since the inception of this idea.”

Archipelago Yachts reveals first 24m+ explorer model for "visionary owner"

Archipelago Yachts has unveiled a new 24.4-metre model called the Archipelago 80. The first unit is being built "for a visionary owner", according to founder Dr Stephen Weatherley, and once delivered shall become the flagship of the British shipyard's leisure expedition range.

The explorer yacht will be owner-operated and is designed with a Chartwell Marine hull form utilised extensively in the offshore wind industry. The high-capacity helipad is a particularly noteworthy feature considering the model's size bracket, with the roof area also able to accommodate solar panels or extra storage, facilitated by a Palfinger crane.

The cockpit will feature an expansive "working area" equipped with tie-down points that can accommodate expedition gear or superyacht toys. The crane and reinforced deck structure can facilitate the transportation of a six-metre ISO container, a personal submersible, an amphibious vehicle and various heavy-duty equipment. Alternatively, it can be left free for leisure activities, including game fishing.

Meanwhile, the open-plan main saloon is arranged with a bar and a day galley said to offer "panoramic views". Accommodation is found within the hulls, as is the main galley and crew quarters. The wheelhouse serves as an adaptable living space, featuring another bar and an entertainment area on its shaded balcony. There is also the option to install a hot tub.

"This model represents ultimate versatility in a sub-24-metre, owner-operator platform, and the embodiment of our commitment to delivering exceptional experiences on the water," added Weatherley. "I am very excited to see this project come to life and welcome the customer on board for some unforgettable journeys at sea."

The Archipelago 80 will be powered by a diesel-electric system for a maximum speed of 28-30 knots. A paravane kite can also be deployed for decreased fuel consumption, while an optional generator will equip the yacht with an additional 180kW of electrical power.

Earlier this year, Archipelago Yachts was chosen as one of 33 successful applicants for £33 million in government funding . The prize will enable the progression of a new methanol-powered leisure vessel from Archipelago, the design for which was revealed in late 2023.

Ride1Up Revv1 DRT unveiled as high performance off-road electric bike

Ride1Up announced the launch of its original Revv1 electric moped-style bike back in early 2023, spearheading the brand’s expansion into a wider range of e-bike models. The powerful bike was a shot across the bow of major brands like SUPER73, offering high-performance riding and moto-inspired styling for a more affordable price. Now the company is back with the first major redesign to the bike, offering the Revv1 DRT for off-road adventures.

Moped-style electric bikes are incredibly popular with younger and more adventurous riders, and so it should come as no surprise that one of the most popular modifications made by Revv1 owners was to optimize it for off-road riding.

The bike was already most of the way there, offering high power, fast speeds, and a full-suspension design. But now Ride1Up has embraced those desires among much of its ridership, offering a factory-ready scrambler based on the Revv1’s bones.

The new Revv1 DRT features several modifications designed for the trails, including updated suspension, tires, spoke wheels, off-road fenders, modified lighting, and updated frame geometry.

The most visually obvious update appears to be the chunkier off-road tires and the new longer travel DNM coilover shock in the rear, complete with piggyback reservoir. A Molle panel is also available to fill the front triangle (trapezoid?) of the frame, offering riders the utility of standard Molle attaching accessories that can be sourced from just about anywhere.

The Revv1 features a 1,000-watt continuous-rated rear hub motor offering 95 Nm of torque, making it one of the most powerful stock e-bike motors on the market today.

The bike ships with a 20 mph (32 km/h) speed limit, but can be opened up to Class 3 operation with pedal assist taking the bike up to 28 mph (45 km/h).

Further unlocking of the bike is possible, though requires jumping through several hoops including contacting the company directly. Once unlocked fully, even more speed is possible on throttle-only. In my original test of the street version of the Ride1Up Revv1 last year, I topped out at around 37 mph (59.5 km/h).

As an important reminder to readers: such speeds are not legal for electric bicycles on public roads in most areas, and would push the vehicle into motorcycle designation for public road use in some jurisdictions. Electric bike makers usually describe fully-unlocked power and speeds as intended only for off-road and private property use.

Since the Ride1Up Revv1 DRT is explicitly designed for off-road use though, it makes sense to be able to take advantage of all that the powerful motor has to offer.

Many of the bike’s other components remain the same as the original Ride1Up Revv1. Riders will find the same large 52V 20Ah (1,040 Wh) battery pack with Samsung 50E 21700 battery cells, the same 3.5″ center mount display, and the same 4-piston 203mm hydraulic disc brakes.

The DRT does manage to shave a couple pounds off of the full-suspension street-version of the Revv1, dropping to a mere 91 lb (41 kg). That’s still a portly e-bike, but it likely won’t stop the kind of riders who gravitate to these types of bikes from bunnyhopping it all over the place.

Just launched today, the Ride1Up Revv1 DRT carries a promotional pre-order price of US $2,495 . Deliveries are expected to begin in early June, and there’s no guarantee the promotional price will stick around.

However, Ride1Up is known for offering great pricing compared to much of the industry and recently announced that sale prices on other models would remain throughout the year instead of rollercoasting prices up and down during seasonal sales like many other companies.
