How to Dress to Impress at a Monaco F1 Yacht Party
Few things in life scream opulence quite like a cocktail party on a superyacht in Monaco — for the Grand Prix weekend. And when the F1 comes to town, a special buzz takes hold of Monte Carlo. You’ll feel it all around the winding streets in town and on the fine teak decks of the superyachts floating in the harbour. It’s party time, and if ever there was a time to dress to impress, this is it.
So if you’re wondering what you should wear for a Monaco Grand Prix yacht party ? Well, wonder no more, because we’re here to share some expert tips. Welcome to our Monaco F1 style guide.
Selecting the perfect attire for Monaco’s best yacht cocktail party
Ultimate Driving Tours has been hosting cocktail parties in Monaco for over a decade, and we know that if it’s your first time visiting this gorgeous principality, you might find it a little daunting deciding what to wear. After all, Monte Carlo is one of the world’s chicest fashion capitals, and people here seem to have an innate sense of style and the ability to dress perfectly for any occasion. So, no pressure right?!
But with a little bit of knowledge and some careful selections, you can put together perfect outfits which will have you looking and feeling great all weekend long, ensuring you get the most out of your incredible Grand Prix weekend. Each year, we welcome a diverse mix of stylish guests aboard our yacht as part of our European Supercar Tour , so we thought we’d share some tips on how to dress to impress.
Monaco Grand Prix fashion: what if there’s a dress code?
The Monaco Grand Prix is the perfect opportunity to flaunt your sense of style, but if you’re planning to enjoy premium hospitality at the Champions Club or Paddock Club, a smart casual dress code will apply.
For men, smart casual means trousers and an open-collared shirt with a blazer or jacket. Shoes should be closed and polished styles such as loafers or Oxfords. For women, a dress, skirt (pencil or flowing type) or pantsuit is recommended along with a pair of heels, wedges, loafers or some smart ankle boots. Shorts are not recommended for men or women.
What it’s like at the Ultimate Driving Tours Monaco yacht party
The cocktail party aboard our chartered superyacht is always a highlight of Grand Prix weekend. We host our cocktail party on Friday night, and it always sets the tone for a great weekend of racing and celebrations.
The vibe at the party is lively, so Anthony and I like to wear comfortable yet stylish outfits which will transition smoothly from sunset into the night. A jacket and pants with an open-collared shirt works for me, but some guests like to go all out with classic cocktail attire. And everyone always has an absolute blast regardless of what they wear!
Is there a theme for the cocktail party?
Our cocktail party has a Euro-chic theme. It’s a modern theme emphasising comfort over formality. That means there isn’t a strict dress code, and guests are encouraged to express themselves with their outfits.
So, cocktail attire is welcome but is by no means mandatory. I love seeing guests embrace the spirit of the Cote d’Azur in their outfit choices; linen shirts, colourful jackets and trousers for the men, and vibrant dresses and snappy jumpsuits for the ladies.
If you’re keen to buy an outfit while you’re on the tour, Nice’s Old Town has plenty of boutiques and shops that offer clothing in this style. Don’t be shy with your selections — remember, this weekend is as much about enjoying life’s special indulgences as it is about Formula 1.
Guests come here to sip champagne, admire the views from the yacht, and mix and mingle with like-minded people. And people in Monaco do enjoy showing off, so if you’re worried your outfit might be too ostentatious, don’t be.
Weather in Monaco on Grand Prix weekend
Weather is always a consideration when selecting your outfit, and the weather in May in Monaco can be changeable. One day it might be around 22℃ (71℉), and the next might be cooler, around 15℃ (59℉). And there’s always the chance of rain, so I recommend packing a range of clothing options to cover your bases.
On the water, temperatures can drop quickly once the sun goes down. Over the Grand Prix weekend, guests spend all day Saturday and Sunday aboard the yacht celebrating, so I always recommend bringing a hat for during the day, and a warm jacket so you can enjoy yourself well into the night without worrying about getting cold.
What is cocktail attire?
Cocktail attire is a semi-formal dress code. As the name suggests, it’s commonly worn to cocktail parties, but can also be worn to weddings, a day at the races, or an evening party.
While it’s less formal than black tie, cocktail attire calls for a suit jacket and trousers for men, and a semi-formal dress or pantsuit for women. The fun part is that unlike black tie, there’s room to get creative with colours and matching the individual elements of your outfit. Monaco is always full of snappy dressers, so you’ll definitely see some pretty impressive outfits as you explore Monte Carlo.
If you’re heading out on the town in Monaco, some venues may require a formal dress code, but in general, things are more relaxed than they were in years gone by.
These days, you don’t need to dress like James Bond to play the tables at Monte Carlo Casino — but you might attract a few admirers should you choose to do so.
Cocktail attire for men
Traditional cocktail attire for men means an elegant jacket and trousers. Cocktail attire is more formal than business casual, but less formal than black tie. The aim is to dress smart but you don’t need to follow the rules as strictly as you do with the more formal dress codes.
Prada, Ermenegildo Zegna and Paul Smith are all known for their jackets and remain great choices with colour and material options ranging from understated to extroverted.
Canali, Fendi and Alexander McQueen offer great fitting trousers including some lighter materials like seersucker and linen. These can be great for warmer days.
Classic leather Oxford shoes from brands like Tom Ford and Chrisian Louboutin remain popular. For a more relaxed outfit, I love the loafers from Bally.
Accessories
I like to keep my accessories fairly simple with an understated watch, and I might add an extra splash of colour with a pocket square.
Cocktail attire for women
Alexander McQueen and Just Cavalli offer some modern twists on the classic midi dress, and for jumpsuits, Dolce & Gabbana, Band of Outsiders or Fendi.
Tom Ford, Jimmy Choo and Valentino make some of the most incredible shoes that are sure to turn heads.
A clutch, some earrings and a necklace will see you shining bright even when the sun goes down. Fendi, Tory Burch and Stella McCartney make some of the best clutches.
Superyacht cocktail party FAQs
We field a bunch of questions each year about how the cocktail party works and how to dress for the superyacht — here are a few tips and tricks to make your yacht party experience as comfortable as possible.
Can I wear my shoes on your superyacht?
On most superyachts, the answer is no. However, unlike many, our yacht has protective carpeting, meaning you can wear whatever footwear you desire, including heels. There’s no basket full of designer shoes on our yacht. For the ladies, block heels and wedges are popular shoe choices as they provide more comfort and stability than stilettos.
Is there a dress code at your cocktail party?
We don’t enforce a strict dress code. Our advice is to wear comfortable and smart clothing that will let you transition from day into night without needing to change. For men, a full suit is not required, but a jacket is recommended. For women, we recommend a dress, jumpsuit or similar.
Does it get cold at night in Monaco?
The average low temperature for Monaco in May is around 13℃ (55℉). It’s not icy cold, but a jacket will ensure you don’t get chilly as the night wears on.

Five Monaco Yacht Show Parties Not To Miss
Home > LUXURY/UHNW Trends > Five Monaco Yacht Show Parties Not To Miss
Posted by Rumble Romagnoli , 19 Sep 2019
All eyes in yachting circles will be closely fixed on Monaco next week when the world’s most important luxury yachting event sails into town. Award-winning superyachts, cutting edge designs and state-of-the-art technology are all on the agenda for the 29th edition of the international yachting event — not forgetting a host of eagerly anticipated Monaco Yacht Show parties, of course…
For while many visitors flock to the annual Monaco Yacht Show, this year held from September 25th to 28th 2019, to catch a glimpse of this year’s latest superyachts and water toys, there is a smaller contingency for whom the yacht show parties arguably hold more allure.
And who can blame them? The Monaco Yacht Show concludes the Mediterranean yachting season and for many, it is the first occasion for crew members and those in the yachting industry to really let their hair down. These starlit gatherings, held at a selection of Monaco’s finest locations, such as the Yacht Club de Monaco or onboard one of the world’s most stunning superyachts, also offer the perfect networking opportunities for those looking to widen their social circle.
So whether it’s wild party action or sophisticated socialising that you’re after, here are the five Monaco Yacht Show parties not to miss:
Feadship’s captains & crew party.
Starting the Monaco Yacht Show off with a bang is Feadship’s iconic Captains and Crew party. Each year has a different theme – 2018 saw Bal Masque take the stage for an opulent night complete with mindblowing performers and incredible cocktails. Anyone who’s anyone will be at the Monaco Yacht Club on Tuesday 24th September 2019, dressed to seriously impress.
James Bond Party
If you prefer your Martini shaken not stirred, then you had better make your way to the Yacht Club on Wednesday, September 25th 2019, for the famous James Bond Party. Details are hush-hush about this year’s 007 soiree, but party-goers are hoping for a repeat of last year’s event, where guests mingled with Bond girls and sipped martinis.
Fraser Captains’ Dinner and Awards
Also held every year at the Yacht Club during the Monaco Yacht Show is the Fraser Captains’ Dinner and Awards ceremony, a splendid black tie affair during which the work of Fraser’ talented team of employees is celebrated. Held on Thursday the 26th 2019, it’s all set to be a glamorous and good-natured evening for the extended Fraser Yachts family.
Amels Friday Night Fun
Traditionally held on the Friday night of the Monaco Yacht Show, the Amels and Damen party is a lively and often somewhat wild get-together onboard a highly-luxurious Amels support vessel – this year rumoured to be M/Y JOY RIDER. The music and magic is intoxicating, and it’s a wonderful way to begin the weekend in Monaco – be there on Friday 27th 2019.
Lurssen: The Party Of All Parties To End The Show
In previous years the Monaco Yacht Show party calendar has drawn to a close with a lavish, Champagne-spraying affair thrown by German shipyard Lurssen. At a previous event held at the Yacht Club de Monaco, guests were serenaded by American singer Gloria Gaynor! We can’t wait to see what is in store for this year’s party-goers…
There we have it – Relevance’s guide to five of the coolest and most exclusive Monaco Yacht Show parties to look forward to this year. We’ll see you at the show! Visit the website for more details: https://www.monacoyachtshow.com/en/

For these events, Frankl and his twin sister, My Yacht Group COO Annabelle Frankl, partner with luxury brands including Axiom Space , Bulgari , Chateau D'Esclans , Perrier-Jouet , and Caviar Perlita.
In a recent interview, Frankl gave Business Insider the low-down on what goes into throwing a superyacht party for the ultra-wealthy at the Monaco Yacht Show.
Throwing a superyacht party for billionaires and celebs doesn't come cheap
You can't throw a superyacht party like he does for under six figures, Frankl said.
First of all, if you don't have your own yacht, you'll have to charter one, which typically costs between $250,000 and $1 million per week plus expenses. One of the yachts Frankl has chartered, a 254-foot vessel called Legend, charges more than $540,000 per week in the summer months.
Then there's the staff, which includes bartenders and catering staff, security, hostesses — Frankl says they hire "angels" who roam around pouring rosé for guests — and musicians. There's always live music: a five-piece band that strolls around the yacht, as well as a DJ on the top deck.
And don't forget the food and drink: caviar, rosé, and Champagne galore. Because according to Frankl, the types of guests who attend these parties will be expecting only the best.
The clientele is ultra-exclusive — and good luck getting in if you don't know the host
Between 120 to 150 people usually attend Frankl's yacht parties in Monaco, and of course, they're invite-only.
Related stories
"The difference between our events and the majority of every other event that you'll ever go to in your life is that I know 80% of the guest list," Frankl said. "... [so] you could say, 'how do you know Nicholas and Annabelle?' and there is an immediate point of connection."
The guests might discover they both met their hosts at Art Basel Hong Kong or last year's Grand Prix, he says. This keeps the atmosphere feeling intimate.
"It's not a bunch random and discombobulated strangers," Frankl said. "There's really a connection amongst the people."
Indeed, Frankl says one of his primary aims is connecting people. My Yacht Group's tagline is "Connecting the world's most interesting people."
At Frankl's events, that could mean royalty — Prince Albert II of Monaco has been his guest — as well as astronauts, doctors, scientists, or athletes. Curating the guest list is something he takes great pride in.
"It's a broad spectrum of interesting [people] and, in general, high achievers in their fields," he said. "And when you put those people together on a superyacht with the right atmosphere and the right level of exclusivity, then people tend to have a really great time and they thank you for it."
100 bottles of Champagne and 35 ounces of caviar
Of course, when you get so many interesting — and wealthy — people together on a superyacht, you have to make sure the food and drink is on the same level as the guest list.
"If you're hosting a large superyacht soiree for 125 to 150 VIPs, it goes without saying that they expect the finest food and wine and that's what we deliver," Frankl said.
My Yacht Group hires A Roca Gourmet to cater their Monaco yacht parties.
"We go through more than a kilo of caviar," Frankl told Business Insider. "We're serving lobster, langoustines, beef."
Canapés are typically served to start, and then there's a "light cooking station" with dishes like risotto, caviar, and vegan options, followed by a variety of desserts.
All the food must be "yacht-friendly," meaning you can eat it while standing and chatting, and it's not crumbling through your fingers onto the decking, Frankl says.
And then there's the alcohol. Over the course of a night's yacht party, the guests will go through about 100 bottles of Champagne, Frankl said.
That's in addition to the Rock Angel Rosé from Château D'Esclans. Frankl said they usually go through "quite a number" of their three-liter Double Magnum bottles, which retail for about $190 each.

The Unique Burial of a Child of Early Scythian Time at the Cemetery of Saryg-Bulun (Tuva)
<< Previous page
Pages: 379-406
In 1988, the Tuvan Archaeological Expedition (led by M. E. Kilunovskaya and V. A. Semenov) discovered a unique burial of the early Iron Age at Saryg-Bulun in Central Tuva. There are two burial mounds of the Aldy-Bel culture dated by 7th century BC. Within the barrows, which adjoined one another, forming a figure-of-eight, there were discovered 7 burials, from which a representative collection of artifacts was recovered. Burial 5 was the most unique, it was found in a coffin made of a larch trunk, with a tightly closed lid. Due to the preservative properties of larch and lack of air access, the coffin contained a well-preserved mummy of a child with an accompanying set of grave goods. The interred individual retained the skin on his face and had a leather headdress painted with red pigment and a coat, sewn from jerboa fur. The coat was belted with a leather belt with bronze ornaments and buckles. Besides that, a leather quiver with arrows with the shafts decorated with painted ornaments, fully preserved battle pick and a bow were buried in the coffin. Unexpectedly, the full-genomic analysis, showed that the individual was female. This fact opens a new aspect in the study of the social history of the Scythian society and perhaps brings us back to the myth of the Amazons, discussed by Herodotus. Of course, this discovery is unique in its preservation for the Scythian culture of Tuva and requires careful study and conservation.
Keywords: Tuva, Early Iron Age, early Scythian period, Aldy-Bel culture, barrow, burial in the coffin, mummy, full genome sequencing, aDNA

Savvino-storozhevsky monastery and museum.
Zvenigorod's most famous sight is the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery, which was founded in 1398 by the monk Savva from the Troitse-Sergieva Lavra, at the invitation and with the support of Prince Yury Dmitrievich of Zvenigorod. Savva was later canonised as St Sabbas (Savva) of Storozhev. The monastery late flourished under the reign of Tsar Alexis, who chose the monastery as his family church and often went on pilgrimage there and made lots of donations to it. Most of the monastery’s buildings date from this time. The monastery is heavily fortified with thick walls and six towers, the most impressive of which is the Krasny Tower which also serves as the eastern entrance. The monastery was closed in 1918 and only reopened in 1995. In 1998 Patriarch Alexius II took part in a service to return the relics of St Sabbas to the monastery. Today the monastery has the status of a stauropegic monastery, which is second in status to a lavra. In addition to being a working monastery, it also holds the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum.
Belfry and Neighbouring Churches
Located near the main entrance is the monastery's belfry which is perhaps the calling card of the monastery due to its uniqueness. It was built in the 1650s and the St Sergius of Radonezh’s Church was opened on the middle tier in the mid-17th century, although it was originally dedicated to the Trinity. The belfry's 35-tonne Great Bladgovestny Bell fell in 1941 and was only restored and returned in 2003. Attached to the belfry is a large refectory and the Transfiguration Church, both of which were built on the orders of Tsar Alexis in the 1650s.
To the left of the belfry is another, smaller, refectory which is attached to the Trinity Gate-Church, which was also constructed in the 1650s on the orders of Tsar Alexis who made it his own family church. The church is elaborately decorated with colourful trims and underneath the archway is a beautiful 19th century fresco.
Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral
The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is the oldest building in the monastery and among the oldest buildings in the Moscow Region. It was built between 1404 and 1405 during the lifetime of St Sabbas and using the funds of Prince Yury of Zvenigorod. The white-stone cathedral is a standard four-pillar design with a single golden dome. After the death of St Sabbas he was interred in the cathedral and a new altar dedicated to him was added.
Under the reign of Tsar Alexis the cathedral was decorated with frescoes by Stepan Ryazanets, some of which remain today. Tsar Alexis also presented the cathedral with a five-tier iconostasis, the top row of icons have been preserved.
Tsaritsa's Chambers
The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is located between the Tsaritsa's Chambers of the left and the Palace of Tsar Alexis on the right. The Tsaritsa's Chambers were built in the mid-17th century for the wife of Tsar Alexey - Tsaritsa Maria Ilinichna Miloskavskaya. The design of the building is influenced by the ancient Russian architectural style. Is prettier than the Tsar's chambers opposite, being red in colour with elaborately decorated window frames and entrance.
At present the Tsaritsa's Chambers houses the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum. Among its displays is an accurate recreation of the interior of a noble lady's chambers including furniture, decorations and a decorated tiled oven, and an exhibition on the history of Zvenigorod and the monastery.
Palace of Tsar Alexis
The Palace of Tsar Alexis was built in the 1650s and is now one of the best surviving examples of non-religious architecture of that era. It was built especially for Tsar Alexis who often visited the monastery on religious pilgrimages. Its most striking feature is its pretty row of nine chimney spouts which resemble towers.
