Boat is made in France. Not many for sale in the states. One available in south Florida. Any information on this trawler would be great. Thanks

I think you’re referring to a Fontaine Pajot Greenland, no? Some here may get a bit confused with the hybrid boat manufacturer, Greenland. For a moment there, I got really excited that Greenland may have come out with a hybrid Cat. Anyway, there’s only a few FP Greenland cats around here and people have done some really nice things with them. The hulls are fairly efficient, requiring little umph from the twin diesels to push them along at cruising speeds up to the mid-teens. Interiors are designed more for charter than owners, and feature the usual hallway style bunks and wet heads (head and shower compartment are integrated). Galley is modern but not much for storage. Stepping down into the hulls is tight for anyone tall or stout. Machinery and maintenance space is equally tight. Conversely, the cockpit and flybridge are nice areas for a boat this size. The best one I ever saw is here on Longboat Key and it looks like the owner spent a fortune on it, absolutely gorgeous with lots of mods. The price he has to ask will be tough to get. I see it has come down a lot. If you’re really serious about a Fontaine Pajot Greenland, take a gander at the PDQ 34 Cat and the bigger-brother Fontaine Pajot 37 “Maryland”. They are both more efficient, better featured, and easier to maintain. My 2 cents.

God, what’s the matter with me. “Greenline” is the hybrid boat brand.! That worries me when even the boat brands are starting to blur in this old brain.

We had our eye on one in Europe for a while. They are one of the first, if not the first, production trawler cats although I believe the Maryland 37 was just earlier. A great size for practicality. We ultimately decided against one for various reasons that aren’t against the overall design without having seen one in person.

OP: I cant help you with Pajot Greenland but as HealHustler check out the PDQ 34. Its an amazing boat! I got a personal tour on "Heron" (Dick Tuschicks personal boat, owner of Rhumbline Yachts). Very impressive boats but PRICEY. But if you're looking at small cats then the used PDQ is the cream of the crop.

Fountaine Pajot Yachts

Fountaine Pajot has launched over 30 models since 1983 delivering over 2500 boats to date. Dual hull and power cruising catamaran ranges are leaders in their respective market segments, instantly recognizable on seas around the world.

In 1976, Jean-Fancois Fountaine, a well-known regatta competitor, founded Fountaine Pajot with three partners. He set out to establish himself in the French boat building industry, starting with the production of sailboat catamarans. Fountaine Pajot launched its first sail cruising catamaran, Louisiane 37, in 1983. Shortly following came the launch of Casamance 43, a new model with feature solutions that became trademarks on all Fountaine Pajot vessels, such as fixed fins instead of pivoting centerboards for easier handling when sailing. The hallmark of Fountaine Pajot catamarans, inspired by The Vénézia designed by Joubert Nivelt, was established in 1992. This involved bringing the roof forward over its panoramic windows to eliminate direct sunlight and heat from the cabin area. In 1998, Fountaine Pajot launched its first power cruising catamaran, known as “Trawler Catamarans”. The Maryland 37 and the Greenland 34 quickly gained popularity in the powerboat market. Driven by innovation and efficiency, Fountaine Pajot has launched more than 30 models since 1983, becoming one of the top boat builders of dual sail and power catamarans, ranging from 36 to 80 feet.

Greenland 34 vs Highland 35

Boat: 50' Ligure power cat
one of these - 34 or Highland 35.
The G34 would be 2002 or so, and the H35 2008 (based on I can afford for the age).

The benefits for the H35 seem to be: (rudder and controls) The benefits of the G34 seem to be: bridges Otherwise they appear to be the same.

We will potter around the and European canals for a few years, so this is the primary use. Mostly a couple but with a few other friends for various times.
If she do it - eventually - we'd carefully load her full of , carefully choose , carefully choose crew, and carefully her slowly and carefully ( 34 vs Highland 35? Anything I have missed?

I'm wondering whether putting a separate set of dual controls, using hydraulics, ? They did optionally come with this I saw in a brochure from the time. ?

I couldn't do anything about the different size of the flybridge, and visibility. But ?

BTW, the G34 I'm looking at has dual 100's so is pretty close to the 110's of the H35.

Thanks

Boat: Fountaine Pajot Greenland 34
and for the , very hard to beat. Ours is a 2002 with dual controls. Also a larger than standard motor, 135hp Nanni's. She cruises easily at 15 knots burning less than 4 gph. Not very many of either Greenlands or Highlands in the US. When we bought ours, Highlands were much newer and therefore more $$.
Space wise there isn't much difference. Bridge clearance would be an issue in canals. We have chartered in that haven't a flybridge and there were some bridges the clearance was an issue even with a without a flybridge (we were on a Linseen 34 with a bridge deck).
The dual cabins with full on suite is great for cruising with 2 couples. Both suffer from too narrow bunks so if you are a larger person, the is somewhat narrow for your mate. Upstairs the table can be lowered and makes a large . We have used that on occasion.
Good luck boat hunting!

  • having a larger flybridge? Did you have the full flybridge or the G34 version with the seats only half-up?
  • having a larger cockpit ? The H35 looks better for eating outside - did you ever feel your G34 was too small?
  • internal controls - when you say dual controls, do you mean you had both engine and rudder controls downstairs? We think this is a must , but do you use the controls down much compared to flybridge? Also, would you think it would be difficult to add the controls in the cabin ?
  • Have you felt the visibility from the cabin was a problem on the G34? The H35 does seem to have made this a lot better...

Boat: Fountaine Pajot Greenland 34
. Height is 16 feet. But if we took down the and I think it is about 13 feet.
The cockpit might be a bit smaller but it is still plenty big. We have had 12-14 people aboard for boat parade and for new years parties. The cockpit easily has room for a table and chairs, with sitting 1-2 people on rear lazarette and 3-4 people around other side of table. We use the table from the salon. I found some legs that fit on the bottom of the table posts.
Our boat came with a complete set of controls downstairs and on the flybridge. In we almost always use the upper station only. Bad we will use lower station. Visibility from lower station is ok, the stairs to the flybrige blocks the view to the rear starboard side but it is manageable.
The looks exactly the same as the 35. I think they came from the same . We carry 200 gallons , 75 gallons and even with 12 people aboard the boat handles it very well.

Well-known member.

I recently bought a Fountaine Pajot Greenland 34 Trawler and I'd be grateful for any advice from anyone who has owned or has experience of one of these boats. I viewed the boat and had a very short trip on it 10 weeks ago before I agreed to buy it and I haven't seen it since. She has 2 x Yanmar 75HP 4JH3 engines with 2,600 hours. The boat has been excellently maintained by a very fastidious owner and the only negative comment from the surveyor was in relation to the battery terminals being uncovered.

Do your engines have turbos on them? I think that the standard Yanmar 4JH engines are usually rated around 50 hp. At this rating they can be expected to have a pretty long life - I have come across a few that have done 8,000 hours, and are still working well, with only basic maintenance being carried out. There are currently four sisterships for sale on Yachtworld. http://www.yachtworld.com/core/list...im=quick&ybw=&sm=3&Ntk=boatsEN&currencyid=100

Yes they have turbos and the maintenance regime has been exemplary so I’m pretty confident about the boat. I believe a total of 44 of these were built so not quite unique but rare enough nonetheless.

Hi IR, Just wondering how you're getting with the FP34. They look like a promising design at reasonable cost in comparison to a lot of cats which can be 2 or 3 times more expensive than equivalent motorboats. Have you experienced any slamming in head seas, and how comfortable is the ride? Is your boat shaft drive or does it have sail drives? I would be grateful if you could indicate what ball park price you would expect to pay for a FP34? Tia.

I’m very happy with the boat. My son and I sailed it from Lefkas to Kusadasi in early April. We were very fortunate with the weather but we had a somewhat rough passage from Mykonos to Samos and I was very happy with the handling. We didn’t experience any heavy slapping motoring at around 7 kn into fairly rough seas. I have to admit though the ride on the bridge is fairly uncomfortable in any size of beam sea. Most of our motoring has been on one engine and in general I only use both together in the marina or close manoeuvering. The boat is really economical. She make around 7kn on one engine @ 2,200 revs. She makes around 15 kn on both engines at full whack. It’s burning around 3.5 LPH @ 2,200 rpm. My wife and daughter are really thrilled with the space and I’m thrilled with everything but especially the maneuverability. It’s easier to berth than my previous 7m Jeanneau. I bought my boat VAT not paid. It was originally advertised at €110k and I paid €90k. There are a number of slightly older 34’s currently advertised at around €110k VAT paid.

Highland 35

Maximum living space, stability and low fuel consumption are the keywords to describe the Highland 35. These are the important advantages which definitively launched the power catamaran industry. And today, this powercat could be a great deal!

The Highland's excellent passage through the water gives it steady performance as well as very good sailing comfort!

The most you’ll get from a Highland? A range of 1,000 miles at 6 knots.

The central T-shaped area ideally houses the saloon, the galley, and helm station. Everything is within reach and it is very easy to move around.

Successor to the Greenland 34, with which Fountaine Pajot launched themselves into the 10 meter power catamaran market in the early 2000s, the Highland 35 became the entry-level boat in a full range, which included the Summerland 40, the Cumberland 44 and the Queensland 55. If the biggest models are catamarans with imposing dimensions, the kid-brother with his 10.35 meter overall length and especially a beam of 4.40m is the go-anywhere, super-versatile boat par excellence. The buyers were not mistaken: with 68 units built between 2005 and 2011, it has brought happiness to many former sailing enthusiasts but also and especially to boaters eager for autonomy and comfort, as well as charter bases looking for something economic to operate and especially easy to maneuver short-handed while having record habitable space. A catamaran that offers the ability, (thanks to a beam of only 4.40 m), to return to port in the evening! From the beginning, it was available in two versions: DUO (two double cabins and two heads compartments) or TRIO (two double cabins in the starboard hull and a large one for the owner to port).

The most you’ll get from a Highland? A range of 1,000 miles at 6 knots.

  12. Greenland 34 Greenland 34 vs Highland 35

Greenland 34 vs Highland 35. I am looking at buying one of these - Greenland 34 or Highland 35. The G34 would be 2002 or so, and the H35 2008 (based on price I can afford for the age). The benefits for the H35 seem to be: bigger flybridge. bigger cockpit. internal helm (rudder and motor controls) bigger engines.
