Let us organise your perfect Italy yacht charter itinerary.

Our expert brokers know the cruising grounds intimately, both personally through first-hand experience and in real time through contacts on the ground. Your itinerary will be tailored specifically for you to deliver the holiday you want.

New to charter?

The Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA) is due at the time of the final charter payment. Under MYBA terms, this sum is usually equivalent to 30 per cent of the total charter fee, but may be up to 40 per cent in some cases.

Intended to cover the operating expenses of a charter as explained under Charter Terms, such as fuel, food, drinks, port fees and ad hoc incidentals, the APA will be given to the captain before the start of your charter. The Captain will ensure that the yacht is fully fuelled and provisioned when you step on board. While an up-to-date summary of accounts can be requested at any time during your charter, a full set of accounts will normally be submitted by your captain at the end of the cruise. If, during the charter, the expenditure exceeds the sum already paid, additional cash funds will be required at once.

All outstanding bills from the yacht charter should be settled in cash or by bank transfer before your final disembarkation. Of course, any remaining credit at the end of your charter will be reimbursed to you in full. On request, transfer arrangements to and from the yacht can be made by Burgess or by the yacht’s captain, payment for which will be deducted from your APA.

Italy luxury yacht charter

Awash with elegant cliff-top villages and tempting cruising grounds around every corner, a luxury yacht charter is one of the best ways to discover all that Italy has to offer. Whether cruising around the unspoilt Aeolian islands, touring the impossibly pretty towns of the Amalfi coast and picture-perfect Capri , hitting the hotspots of Sardinia or revelling in the world-famous cuisine, culture and heritage of Tuscany and its islands, the  Italian Riviera is always a good idea for a summer yacht charter.

Italy yacht season and weather

The peak summer months of July and August provide warm, sunny days with highs of 30°C. During August, many Italians take the entire month off work, meaning resorts and coastal areas are very busy. June and September offer quieter cruising grounds and very pleasant temperatures.

Climates do vary from north to south, with the south generally experiencing milder winters. In October, Sicily often has long, warm sunny days with temperatures still in the mid-20s.

Italy yacht charter itineraries

La Spezia’s Porto Lotti can accommodate yachts up to 180 metres and Porto Mirabello has capacity for yachts up to 140 metres – both good jumping-off points for Portovenere and the Cinque Terre. Rome Marina Yachting is in the port of Civitavecchia and has berths up to 100 metres. The marina is an hour and 15 minutes from Rome by car. On Sicily , Marina di Riposto is an ideal base for visiting Mount Etna and Catania, is six nautical miles from Taormina and has moorings for yachts up to 80 metres. Porto Cervo marina on Sardinia has moorings for yachts up to 120 metres. Porto di Mergellina in Naples has moorings for up to 75 metres.

Awash with old Hollywood glamour and synonymous with Italian aristocracy, the Amalfi coast is one of Italy’s most famous and coveted cruising grounds. Departing from Naples and the shadow of the volcanic peak of Vesuvius, charterers can venture 20 nautical miles to the low key isle of Procida, then take a 10 nautical-mile passage to the volcanic wonders of Ischia, hop south to the famed isle of Capri before cruising 20 nautical miles to Amalfi and the neighbouring gems of Ravello and Positano. For those wanting a mix of city and sea, charters can also make an overnight passage and arrive for sightseeing in Rome.

The island of Sardinia is a superyacht magnet and its famous Costa Smeralda attracts the yachting elite every summer. Mixing Michelin restaurants and five-star hotels with kaleidoscopic bays, sublime beaches and celebrity haunts such as Porto Cervo, Sardinia is one of the hottest charter destinations in Europe.

Charters in the Tuscan archipelago are equally bewitching, with the islands of Elba, Gorgona, Capraia, Montecristo, Giglio and Giannutri home to pristine shores, stunning coves and charming villages steeped in history. The islands form a convenient stepping stone between the coastline of Tuscany and Corsica, allowing charterers to combine the delights of Italy and the French island in on trip.

Further north the pearls of the Ligurian coastline, the UNESCO protected Cinque Terre, comprise the picture-perfect towns of Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore cling to the cliffs, while romantic Portofino is a must-visit.

For natural wonders and more off-the-beaten-track adventures, the volcanic Aeolian Islands lie 25 miles off the north-east coast of Sicily and provide a varied and stunning itinerary. Sicily itself has also catapulted onto the charter scene, with an enticing mix of secret grottos, secluded coves and glittering beaches.

Italy by superyacht

Getting to italy.

The mainland has a host of international airports that handle commercial and private aircraft including those in Naples, Rome and Pisa.

Sardinia’s three airports of Olbia, Alghero and Cagliari all handle commercial and private jets.

Catania and Palermo airports in Sicily handle private and commercial aircraft.

Common charter routes in and out of Italy include crossings from the Adriatic and Croatia, and crossings from the French Riviera and western Mediterranean.

Legal requirements

Official documentation required from the crew for charters must be sent to the Italian authorities at least two weeks prior to arrival.

Yachts based in the European Union, on which VAT has already been paid or is not applicable, are welcome to enter Italy from any other EU country without having to undergo customs formalities. Vessels arriving from outside the EU must report to customs on arrival, however. The current VAT rate of 22% is reduced for yachts depending on how much time they have spent cruising in waters outside of the EU.

There are some local laws concerning where to anchor and swim, which can be punishable by fines. It is illegal to swim in an Italian harbour, so swimmers must dive in further out from shore.

Except when entering or leaving, motoring within 300 metres of the shoreline is forbidden. It is also prohibited to anchor within 200 metres of a beach in Italy.

Yacht Rental Italy

In the heart of the Mediterranean, where the waves whisper ancient tales and the winds carry the aroma of cultures blended through time, lies Italy. A land not just to be seen but to be felt, to be experienced. The choice of travel here is not merely a matter of convenience but an intricate part of the experience itself. This brings us to a rather unique way to explore the diverse and captivating Italian coastlines - by yacht. It is not just a mode of transportation but a vessel that carries you through time, nature, and self-discovery. In the following discourse, we shall embark on an intellectual exploration of why one should rent a yacht in Italy, the considerations to bear in mind, and the selection of the perfect maritime companion for these historic waters.

Why Rent a Yacht in Italy

Yacht Rental Italy

In the azure stretch of the Mediterranean, where ancient history collides with natural splendour, one finds a place called Italy. The region is rich in art, culture, and biodiversity, where the lands are as varied and contrasting as the seasons. A yacht, unlike any other vessel, enables a human to traverse these waters in comfort and luxury, all the while basking in the unfiltered glory of nature's architecture.

❑ A Window to Nature's Marvels

Imagine yourself at the helm of a sleek and elegant vessel, gliding through the waters that separate Sardinia from Sicily . Here, the aquatic fauna is not only diverse but enchanting. The dolphin's leap, the glimpse of a rare turtle, or even the fleeting shadow of a passing swordfish might greet your voyage.

❑ A Connection to Human History

The coastline of Italy is not merely a spectacle of beauty; it is an open museum displaying the chronicles of human civilization. From the ancient ruins of Pompeii to the grandiose villas dotting the Amalfi coast, a yacht provides an exclusive and intimate approach to these witnesses of time.

Navigating Italy's Coastline: Specific Destinations to Visit with a Yacht

Italy's coastline, adorned with timeless beauty and diversity, beckons to those seeking more than just a holiday. A voyage aboard a yacht not only offers a unique perspective but opens doors to places that remain hidden from conventional travel. From the rugged cliffs of the Cinque Terre to the serene canals of Venice, the coastal secrets of Italy are myriad. In this exploration, we shall delve into specific destinations that stand as an epitome of Italy's maritime allure.

🚢 The Amalfi Coast

A winding stretch of cliffs and coves, the Amalfi Coast offers an unspoilt view of the Tyrrhenian Sea. A yacht ride here gives access to secluded beaches and the ability to appreciate the colourful villages that cling to the cliffs like nature's own ornaments.

🚢 Portofino

Nestled on the Ligurian coast, Portofino radiates charm with its colorful houses and lush hillsides. A favored haven for the elite, its picturesque harbor welcomes yachts to experience the epitome of Italian luxury.

🚢 Lake Garda

Italy's largest lake, Lake Garda , beckons yachters with pristine waters set against dramatic mountain backdrops. The lake's unique blend of Alpine and Mediterranean climates promises diverse experiences from quaint villages to verdant vineyards.

🚢 Porto di Brindisi

With a history tracing back to Roman times, Porto di Brindisi is more than just a port. Yachters are greeted by a mix of ancient architecture and modern marinas, making it a prime spot to delve into Italy's deep-rooted maritime legacy.

🚢 Cinque Terre

Five villages, each a masterpiece in itself, are the jewels of the Ligurian coast. A yacht allows a leisurely exploration of these car-free zones, where the local culture and the sea have a bond that transcends time.

🚢 Sardinia's Costa Smeralda

An epitome of luxury and natural splendour, Costa Smeralda in Sardinia is a playground for yacht enthusiasts. With exclusive marinas and untouched beaches, it stands as a testimony to the harmony between human indulgence and nature's elegance.

🚢 The Venetian Lagoon

The ethereal canals of Venice provide a unique yachting experience. Whether it's a ride to the timeless city itself or an exploration of the less traversed islands like Murano and Burano, a yacht adds a touch of exclusivity to the Venetian experience.

🚢 The Aeolian Islands

Off the northern coast of Sicily, the Aeolian Islands offer a landscape that varies from volcanic drama to tranquil beaches. Accessible best by yacht, each island offers a distinct flavour and a connection to ancient mythology.

🚢 Sicily's Egadi Islands

Just off Sicily's western coast lie the Egadi Islands, where the rugged and wild terrain meets the azure waters. The islands are a perfect retreat for those seeking tranquillity. A yacht journey here allows for intimate exploration of hidden coves and underwater archaeological sites.

🚢 Capri and Ischia

The Bay of Naples houses two islands that are almost mythical in their beauty. Capri, known for its luxurious charm and the famous Blue Grotto, is a must-visit. Nearby, Ischia offers thermal spas and lush gardens, providing a healing embrace that can be accessed uniquely via yacht.

🚢 The Maddalena Archipelago

Situated between Corsica and Sardinia, the Maddalena Archipelago is a natural masterpiece. Its seven main islands and numerous smaller islets are best explored at a leisurely pace with a yacht, revealing hidden beaches and an unparalleled marine ecosystem.

🚢 Puglia's Tremiti Islands

The Adriatic coast of Italy is graced by the lesser-known Tremiti Islands. Characterised by rocky coastlines, clear waters, and lush pine woods, they offer an off-the-beaten-path yachting experience. The historical sites, including Roman and medieval architecture, add to the islands' intrigue.

🚢 Elba in the Tuscan Archipelago

Elba , part of the Tuscan Archipelago, is a land rich in history, known famously as the place of Napoleon's exile. With more than 150 beaches and an interior filled with lush vegetation, Elba offers a diverse yachting experience that seamlessly combines culture, nature, and relaxation.

🚢 Pantelleria

Closer to Tunisia than to the Italian mainland, Pantelleria offers an exotic yachting destination. Known for its unique "dammuso" houses and rich viticulture, the island provides a blend of Italian and North African culture, all surrounded by crystal-clear waters perfect for sailing.

The sheer diversity of Italy's coastal destinations ensures that there is a locale for every taste and desire. From the luxury of Costa Smeralda to the historical echoes of Elba, a yacht serves as a key to unlocking the many treasures that lie along Italy's coastline. Each destination, when explored through the intimate perspective of a yacht, reveals not just its external beauty but its soul, inviting a connection that lasts long after the voyage has ended.

What Should I Consider Before Renting a Yacht in Italy

Yacht Rental Italy

The process of chartering a yacht in Italy, though filled with the promise of adventure, requires a meticulous approach. An understanding of certain facets is imperative to ensure that the journey is not only pleasurable but also responsible.

⛵ The Right Time and Place

The climate varies greatly from the north to the south. While the summer months offer calm seas and warm winds, they are also crowded. The choice of region and time can either elevate the experience or hinder it. An understanding of local weather patterns and seasonal influx is vital.

⛵ Licences and Regulations

A mosaic of maritime laws govern these waters. Whether it is about fishing rights, protected marine areas, or sailing licenses, an in-depth knowledge ensures compliance and protects the fragile ecosystem.

⛵ The Essence of Responsibility

Renting a yacht is not merely a financial transaction. It entrusts you with a piece of craftsmanship, a vehicle that must be handled with care and respect. This includes treating both the vessel and the environment with the dignity they deserve.

Which is the Best Yacht for Italy's Waters

In the myriad choices of yachts, finding the one that aligns with your journey requires a discerning eye.

⛵ For the Shallow Waters and Hidden Coves

In areas where the water is shallow and the coves hidden, a Catamaran offers not just stability but access. Its twin hulls provide a unique opportunity to explore places that are often untouched by larger vessels.

⛵ For the Open Seas and Grandeur

If the journey takes you to the open waters where the waves tell tales of the wind, then a luxury Motor Yacht, with its robust build and opulent comfort, becomes a floating haven. Here, the technology meets aesthetics, providing not just a journey but an experience.

⛵ A Symphony with the Wind

For those who find harmony in the embrace of the wind, a Sailing Yacht provides a communion with nature that no other vessel can offer. Its sails are like wings, capturing the wind's essence and transforming it into motion.

In conclusion, the exploration of Italy through its waters is a journey that transcends mere travel. It is an exploration of self and the world, a dance with nature, and a glimpse into our very essence. Whether it's the yacht, the timing, or the responsibility, each element must be chosen with care, for they are not merely components of a holiday but the instruments of an unforgettable symphony.

Frequently Asked Questions: An Insight into the World of Italian Yachting

As we journey through the varied landscapes and cultural tapestries that define the Italian coastline, a multitude of questions may arise in the minds of those considering such an exploration. Whether it's the nuances of navigation or the choice of destination, each query holds its own importance. We shall now embark on a passage through some of the frequently asked questions that resonate with many voyagers, offering a glimpse into the practicalities and wonders that await in the world of Italian yachting.

What is the Best Season for Yachting in Italy?

The Mediterranean climate presents different charms throughout the year. The summer months from May to September are warm and bustling, perfect for sun seekers. Spring and early autumn offer mild weather and fewer crowds, allowing a more intimate connection with nature and local culture.

Do I Need a Special License to Charter a Yacht in Italy?

Yes, operating a yacht in Italy requires specific licenses, and the requirements vary depending on the size and type of the vessel. It is essential to consult with the rental agency to understand the exact needs and possibly hire a skilled captain if necessary.

Is Yachting in Italy Suitable for Families?

Absolutely. Yachting offers an exclusive and flexible way to explore, making it suitable for families. Many yachts come with family-friendly amenities, and the journey can be tailored to include destinations that engage both young minds and adult sensibilities.

How Do I Choose the Right Yacht?

The choice of a yacht depends on various factors such as the number of passengers, the destinations, the duration, and personal preferences. Consulting with a reputable yacht charter company will provide the expertise needed to align your specific desires with the ideal vessel.

Can I Explore Inland Destinations While Yachting?

Indeed, the coastal locations often serve as gateways to the rich inland culture and history. A planned itinerary can include visits to vineyards, historical sites, and culinary experiences, allowing the traveller to taste the multifaceted essence of Italy.

What Safety Measures Should I Consider?

Safety on a yacht involves both equipment and behaviour. Ensuring the vessel meets all safety regulations and carrying out a comprehensive briefing on safety practices with the crew will provide a secure and enjoyable yachting experience.

Through these questions, we open doors to the unseen facets of yachting in Italy, bringing to light not just the charm and grandeur but the realities and responsibilities. The journey is as rich and diverse as the land it explores, and understanding these aspects ensures that the voyage becomes not just a holiday but an enriched experience that speaks to the soul.

Below we explore the right time to charter and some of the key places to visit. You can also browse the yachts available in Italy this year. An Italy yacht charter vacation brings this central Mediterranean country’s beautiful culture and scenery to life. You can experience many different aspects of Italy, including the restaurants, art, history and colour in the comfort of your favourite luxury charter yacht on the Mediterranean and Adriatic coastlines. The famous Italian places you can explore include Naples , Capri , Amalfi , Portofino , Sardinia , Rome ,  Sicily and Venice , to name a few.

Cost To Charter a Yacht In Italy:

The cost to charter a crewed yacht in Italy begins at a price of around 5,000 Euros per week plus advanced provisioning allowance (APA) expenses, typically around 30%. The most expensive luxury Italy superyacht charter holiday costs over 1 million Euros per week plus APA.

The Italy Charter Season:

Like most of the Mediterranean, the Italy season generally runs from April to the end of October. The summer season for Italy is in July and August. This is also the high season as far as yacht charter goes. Other good times to rent your yacht are generally on either of the shoulder seasons (April-May and September-October), each side of the main summer season, as the temperatures are still comfortable, and the onshore tourists have yet to arrive in their largest numbers. The types of yachts available in Italy include motor yacht, sailing yacht charter, skippered, crewed yachts, catamarans, power boats, sailboat, luxury yachts and the ever increasing mega and superyacht charter.

Expert Charter Broker Quote:

“I think Italy is so special because it truly has something to offer everyone. Whether you are seeking a romantic honeymoon, a family vacation, or a holiday with a few of your closest friends, Italy can provide exactly what you’re looking for.” – Trina Howes Luxury Yacht Charter Broker in her article titled ‘ Italy – Why is this Charter Location so Special? ’

Superyacht moored inThe Italian Riviera - Rapallo and Cinque-terra

Many Italy and Amalfi private charters begin in Naples. Naples is a city with a distinct energy - chaotic yet charming, cluttered yet beautiful. Rather daunting to the virgin eye,

Naples has a way of shedding your inhibitions, to present a proud and colorful culture, with an alluring hospitality. Naples is the yacht charter hub of southern Italy and the gateway to Capri and the Amalfi Coast. The Isle of Capri and Amalfi present some of the most spectacular coastlines of the whole Mediterranean.

AMALFI COAST - COSTIERA AMALFITANA

A yacht holiday in Italy must incorporate the stunning Amalfi Coast. The Amalfi coast is around a day sail south of Naples. Amalfi and Positano , like Capri, attract visitors and charter yachts of the highest prestige. The 50 km of the Amalfi coastline stretches mainly from Sorrento to Salerno . It remains a place of rare and incredible beauty. The hillside towns are a truly magnificent display of Italian engineering and architecture. Terrace houses and buildings cling to steep cliffs, rising from the coastline.

Portofino is another must see. It is a tiny town of cobble-stone streets, framed by hills of silvery, ancient olive groves. From the top of the hill, the views of the harbor and coastline are breathtaking. Cafes, boutique shops and gelataria’s spill out into the harbor piazza. The portside cafes are a great place to sit and watch the glamorous yachting world go by. Further down the Italian coast, you'll sail upon 'Cinque Terre' - A succession of five coastal villages, all with the same spectacular views of the seas. These villages are less expensive and sophisticated, than their more popular sister, Portofino. There is a stunning and famous walk along this coastal route, linking the five towns romantically called 'Via Dell 'Amore' ( The Way of Love ).

A charter in Sardinia, Italy is also quite an experience. Sardinia is a universe unto itself. It's an island of Italy, where the local language is incomprehensible to all other Italians.

An island with one of Europe's most stunning coastlines; it's waters teem with fish; it's golden sands disappear into oceans of blue; it's rugged mountains are covered with flocks of sheep producing cheese so pungent, your palate will never forget.

Beneteau Italy, Mediterranean

Venice is a city that’s surrounded by so much water, so being afloat on a yacht vacation is a fantastic way to experience this classic Mediterranean city. Venice is one of the most romantic cities in the world , with its intricate web of canals, charming gondoliers, glorious renaissance architecture and narrow cobbled streets. Venice is an essential stop on any Adriatic yacht charter holiday. On your charter boat, take a cruise down the Grand Canal. From the deck of your charter boat, you’ll be able to pass by sights such as the Ca'Foscari, Palazzo Grassi, Guggenheim Museum and the Accademia Bridge.

Why CharterWorld? CharterWorld is a specialist charter company with all the crewed yachts in Italy and the Mediterranean at the best price. Amanda, Jaco is a beautiful boat. Captain and crew is wonderful. The details of our trip were very similar to the itinerary you outlined with some minor modifications along the way. Our first night was in Ischia. We had dinner on the boat. We left early the next morning after breakfast for Capri. Capri was wonderful and tremendously fun. We hiked the Phoenician Stairs to Anacapri, hiked Mt. Solar, Villa Jovis and enjoyed the shipping now etc. dinner at Auroa one night. We spent two nights there. Upon departure, we had lunch at the lunch spot en route to Positano that you recommended. We spent one night in Positano and had dinner at a great hotel that MK can forward. We spent the night in Amalfi and had dinner on the boat. Next day we embarked for Sorrento. We spent two nights in Sorrento. Had dinner at Don Alfonso which is a truly special place. On our last Saturday we hit Pompeii, and mt. Vesuvius. Great day. We had the boat meet us back in Naples. We really had a special time and thank you for all of your diligence and follow up to ensure that we had a special experience. M/Y JACO / Italy / September

Sailing in Italy. Visit the pearls of Italy. Italy sailing tours

The land’s natural beauties enchant every visitor. Therefore, it’s time to figure out the best [...]

Which period is best to sail in Italy?

You can experience the real Mediterranean climate on the South. Summers are warm and dry, whereas winters are mild. There are irregular periods of precipitation, and snow rarely falls. The best sailing period is between March and November. In summer the temperature of the South-Italian waters can even reach 26 degrees. The water level is changeable due to the strength of the sirocco wind.

In Italy there are different types of climate: mild continental in the Po Valley, cold in the Alps, the Mediterranean on coasts and islands, and finally cool and windy in the Apennines. Because of the considerable length of the peninsula, there is a variation between the climate of the north, attached to the European continent, and that of the south, surrounded by the Mediterranean. Sometimes cold air from northern Europe can spread south into Italy, bringing snow to most mountains, while the coasts are kept warm by the high sea temperatures. The climate for which Italy is famous, with a mild climate and plenty of sunshine tempered by breezes, is actually found only in coastal and plain areas of the center and south, as well as on the coast of Liguria in the northwest. As a rule, the Tyrrhenian coast is warmer and wetter than the Adriatic coast.

The Mediterranean climate in Italy has often local variations. Surrounded by warm seas and with mountains close by, the coast always has a breeze; mountain areas are usually cooler with clear sunny skies, but sometimes local showers or thunderstorms in the afternoon. The coast and valleys tend to have hotter summers than the hills or mountains although the coast benefits from breezes off the sea for cooler temperatures even in those warmer months. July and August are the hottest and sunniest months, except in the Alpine region. The summer can be quite hot in Italy, mainly in the south of the peninsula, with high nocturnal temperatures of usually 28-33°C, but sometimes even 40°C.

Autumn is often rainy, especially from late September or October onwards. Sardinia is subject to Atlantic winds and Sicily to African winds. In spring and fall, the Sirocco, a warm wind from Africa, raises the temperature of the peninsula. In the summer these winds can bring very hot, unpleasant weather, sometimes even up to the northern districts of Italy. Occasional short cold spells in winter can bring about the north winds from central Europe. If you want more accurate/detailed information about the weather and wind conditions, select a region from the luxury yacht charter in Italy destinations tab. Please search for the desired holiday destination within the region and you can find the weather tab under the city tab.

About Italy

Why is Italy a good sailing destination?

With a coastline that meanders through the heart of the Mediterranean, Italy stands as a sailor’s dream. Yachting.Rent believes that Italy’s allure isn’t just rooted in its geography but also in its rich tapestry of culture, history, and nature which makes it a prime sailing destination.

From the rugged cliffs of the Amalfi Coast to the serene waters surrounding Sardinia, Italy offers a diverse sailing landscape. Each region unfurls its distinct charm, ensuring that every journey feels like a new adventure. The Ligurian Sea enchants with places like Cinque Terre, a string of centuries-old seaside villages on the rugged Italian Riviera. Further south, the Tyrrhenian Sea is dotted with islands, such as Elba and Capri, which beckon sailors with their mystique. On the Adriatic side, destinations like Venice offer a unique maritime experience, navigating the city’s famed canals. With such varied coastlines and marine topographies, Italy is an endless playground for both novice and experienced sailors.

However, Italy’s appeal isn’t just its natural beauty. It’s the intertwining of this beauty with the nation’s rich cultural and gastronomical offerings. Anchoring in Sicilian ports can lead to a culinary journey tasting authentic Arancini or Cannoli. In Tuscany, sailors can venture inland to experience some of the world’s most renowned vineyards. Every port, every harbor in Italy tells a story – be it of ancient Roman civilizations, Renaissance art, or modern Italian lifestyle. This blend of sailing with immersive experiences is what Yachting.Rent champions, ensuring that when you set sail in Italy, it’s not just a trip on the water but a journey through the very soul of the Mediterranean.

Don’t miss the chance to sample the local cuisine, particularly the famous “pane cunzato” (seasoned bread).

One of the Aeolian Islands’ highlights is Stromboli, an active volcano that provides a captivating natural spectacle. Witness the eruptions and glowing lava flows during a guided hike to the volcano’s summit. The charming village of Stromboli offers a relaxed atmosphere, picturesque streets, and beautiful beaches.

The Amalfi Coast in Italy is a stunning stretch of coastline that offers breathtaking views, charming coastal towns, and crystal-clear waters. Exploring the Amalfi Coast on a yacht allows you to admire the dramatic cliffs, visit picturesque villages, and discover hidden coves. Here are some of the best places to visit on a yacht in the Amalfi Coast:

Known for its pastel-colored houses cascading down the cliffside, Positano is a postcard-perfect town that should not be missed. Anchor your yacht in the bay and stroll through the narrow streets with boutique shops and cafes. Relax on the beautiful Spiaggia Grande beach or hike the Path of the Gods for panoramic views.

The namesake of the Amalfi Coast, the town of Amalfi is a historical gem with a rich maritime history. Dock your yacht in the harbor, explore the medieval streets, visit the impressive Amalfi Cathedral, and take in the charming atmosphere. Don’t miss the opportunity to sample local limoncello, a traditional lemon liqueur.

Perched high above the coast, Ravello is known for its panoramic views and exquisite gardens. Visit the magnificent Villa Cimbrone and Villa Rufolo, which offer stunning coastlines and sea vistas. Ravello is also famous for its classical music festival, held annually in the gardens of Villa Rufolo.

While not technically part of the Amalfi Coast, the nearby island of Capri is a popular destination for yacht charters. Anchor in the Marina Grande and take a boat trip to the iconic Blue Grotto. Explore the town of Capri, visit the famous Piazzetta, and take a chairlift up to Mount Solaro for breathtaking views.

Located at the northern end of the Amalfi Coast, Sorrento serves as a gateway to the region. Explore the charming old town, stroll along the marina, and indulge in delicious cuisine. Sorrento offers a mix of historical sites, including the Duomo and the ancient Roman ruins of Pompeii, which can be easily accessed from the town.

Li Galli Islands

A group of small islands between Positano and Capri, the Li Galli Islands is a hidden gem on the Amalfi Coast. These islands offer secluded coves, clear waters for swimming and snorkeling, and a tranquil atmosphere away from the crowds.

Charter a private yacht in sorrento with scansail.

Located on the Sorrentine Peninsula of Italy, Sorrento is a coastal town known for its lemons, luxury resorts, and beautiful sunset views. This destination receives visitors from all over the globe throughout the year thanks to its breathtaking scenery. What makes Sorrento even more appealing is its close proximity to other great destinations within the Amalfi Coast. Whether you come with family, friends or on a romantic getaway, a private yacht charter in Sorrento is guaranteed to leave you with unforgettable experiences!

How much does it cost to charter a private yacht in Sorrento?

There are many factors that contribute to the price of a private yacht charter in Sorrento. For instance, this can include the type of boat, the size of the vessel, the duration of your charter, and the seasonality. Below is a list of the average prices according to boat type.

€3,791 per week

€3,563 per week

€1,715 per week

€12,250 per week

€2,800 per week

What is the best time to visit Sorrento?

Sorrento experiences a typical Mediterranean climate. This means that there are hot and dry summers with mild winters. Therefore, the best time to charter a private yacht in Sorrento is between May and October. During these times, there is little precipitation and temperatures average around 28 degrees Celsius. The most popular time to visit is during July and August, so avoid these specific months if you want a less crowded holiday.

Should I charter a private yacht with or without a skipper?

When searching for a booking on Scansail, you will notice that many yachts come with the option to charter with or without a skipper. While it is possible to charter a private charter without a skipper, there are many benefits to having one on board with you. For example, a professional skipper can take care of all the sailing, docking, and anchoring. Therefore, you can take all the time to relax and enjoy your holiday. Moreover, a skipper will be familiar with the region, so they can guide you through the Italian coast and show you the best it has to offer. Ultimately, a skipper can provide you with a comfortable and safe journey, leaving you with a unique experience.

What to do in Sorrento?

Thanks to its beautiful landscape and proximity to other popular destinations such as Naples and Capri, there is so much to explore and experience in Sorrento. With so many options, it can be difficult to know where to begin. For this reason, we have compiled a few suggestions to help inspire your holiday on your private yacht charter.

Of course, a yacht charter in southern Italy would not be complete without exploring the Amalfi Coast. For example, you can navigate around the coast and find places to moor and dip into the sparkling waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea. We recommend visiting the elegant Marina Grande, where you will see brightly coloured luxury yachts and a variety of artisanal shops and seafood restaurants. If you want to find a beach, Puolo Beach is great for sunbathing, with a lot of amenities nearby to keep you entertained as you soak up the Italian sun. However, for larger groups and families, you may want to head to Nerano Beach which is more spacious. If you want to feel like you are on a private holiday, head to Baia di Leranto for a quiet and secluded getaway.

If you want to disembark from your yacht, feel free to take a break from the sea and head into the town where you will be greeted by pastel coloured buildings and fine gastronomy. If you aren’t sure where to start, just head towards the Piazza Tasso, the central square of Sorrento. The charming town will make you feel like you are in an Italian dream. For more adventure, you can hike along one of the most scenic trails in the Mediterranean, the Path of the Gods. You will be astounded by the breathtaking views of the Amalfi Coast and its lush greenery and stunning waters.

You can also take a day trip to the island of Capri. Here, we highly recommend a private tour of the famous Blue Grotto. This magical cavern is completely dark, but the water glows an electric blue when the sunlight peaks through the underwater cave. You can also discover more of the island in Italy’s Bay of Naples by docking at the Marina Piccola and walking around the streets. Alternatively, take your private yacht charter to circle around Capri and uncover all the hidden treasures it has to offer.
