Private club with dining, snack bar, pool and beach. For boaters. Great location. Lovely pool. Good view at outside bar. Few charged to use the pool. Betty is the best and serves everything with a smile. Shell even tell you her personal favorite places to eat.
The food that they serve at the snack shack is luxurious and the staff is very approachable and polite, some would even say legendary. Also, the atmosphere is to die for with the best beach of the nation only steps away, can't wait to return because of my ever long lasting love for this place of peace and serenity.

Lewes Yacht Club
The Lewes Yacht Club (LYC) was founded in 1932 to encourage water sports, boating, casual sailing, and promote racing competition. The Club is enriched by its history and traditions yet has a casual and relaxed atmosphere. LYC is situated at the mouth of the Delaware Bay, which feeds into the Atlantic Ocean. The Club hosts Sunday races in everything from Sunfish and Mobjacks to Open Bics, Zumas and Optis for junior racers. They also co-host the Annual Cape-to-Cape Challenge Race, between LYC and the Corinthian Yacht Club of Cape May, NJ.
Stories from Lewes Yacht Club
Lewes Yacht Club began as an idea for a sailing association that was proposed to Marjorie Virden by George Davisson. There were 17 charter members, including Richard Reese, Sr., who became the first Commodore. In 1934 membership grew to 82. Dues were $3.00, with a $1.00 initiation fee. Four years later, the first clubhouse was completed on donated land; and was expanded and renovated over the years until March 22, 1962, when a devastating Nor’easter took its toll on the building. Reconstruction the next year began a period of growth for LYC. A marina was built on the canal side in 1969, and in 1982 the Club started their sailing school. Later a pool and shop were built. In 2003, the old clubhouse was demolished to make way for a new, modern facility.

Lewes Yacht Club renews long-standing tradition
In spite of the COVID-19 pandemic, Lewes Yacht Club sailors have been busy with midweek and weekend races for most of the summer. The season culminated Sept. 7 with the traditional Labor Day Breakwater Race from in front of the club around the inner breakwater in Delaware Bay.
Among Beer Can Fleet sailors with adjusted handicap times, Pearl, skippered by Dave Cerney, was first; Osprey, skippered by Steve Denver and John Biddle, was second; Mahal, skippered by John Nelson, was third; Nick Carter and Delgato were fourth; Balance, skippered by Richard Beebe, was fifth; Allegra, skippered by James Wagamon, was sixth; and Iris, skippered by Hattie Warwick-Smith, was seventh.
Connie Miller and Bert Keller finished first and second in the Sunfish class, while Sarah Lester and Tony Ingram were first, and Paynter and Patty Ingram were second in the Mobjack class.

Roosevelt Inlet beach is located at the end of Cedar Street by the Lewes Yacht Club. This beach has a gravel parking lot with free parking and four portable restrooms. Bonfires, weddings, and events can be held on Roosevelt Inlet with proper permitting. Information about Roosevelt Inlet.
