In 1970, a few high-end Italian yacht brands gave the new company the responsibility of selling their boats all over Italy. Business people say that the look is why a buyer chooses an Azimut yacht over another Italian luxury yacht brand.

But the company is good at developing new ways to do things and using nanotechnologies to make anti-fouling coatings that last longer and hurt aquatic organisms less. Today, Azimut has become one of the best Italian yacht brands that money can buy.

The Riva brand was started in 1852 in Sarnico, Italy, on the shores of Lake Iseo. Since then, Pietro Riva has become a legend in the Italian boating world.

10 Best Italian Yacht Brands

People tend to invest in all sorts of things these days. It can be properties, vintage goods, handbags , or watches , but what about investing in a yacht? You might be wondering why would someone do that, surely you don’t get money from it. What you do get is new experiences and adventures. So we gathered a list of the 10 best Italian yacht brands for you.

Yes, Italians are great in everything, even in creating Italian luxury yacht brands. Rightly so, since you’ll find the best beaches in Italy where having a boat or a yacht gives you a great advantage. Of course, owning a yacht is costly and not many can afford it, but you’ll be sailing toward beautiful coasts and enjoying the sea or ocean during sunset and sunrise.

5 Best Italian Yacht brands – Italian luxury Yacht Brands

So how do you choose which Italian sailing yachts brands are the right ones for you? You can choose by model, specifications, length, interior design, and even whether the brand lets you add your personal touch to them, which is possible! Of course, it also matters how many people can fit on the yacht. And how fast can you get to your favorite Italian coasts? With these yachts, you can travel faster and better than by car.

For example, places like Cinque Terre , Amalfi , Portofino , or Sorrento are all coastal towns that you should visit and with your own personal yacht, it couldn’t be easier. And the yacht itself can feel like a luxury apartment with the newest furniture. What better flagships to purchase than the ones from the best Italian yacht brands?

It can be a challenge to purchase a yacht without prior experience. You can use a yacht charter (for example  Boataround ) and choose from many boats on offer to know what awaits you.

italian yacht brands

If you really want to stand out among your friends, Benetii should be on the top of your list of Italian yacht brands to buy. It is actually the oldest brand that started creating boats back in 1873. The founder is Lorenzo Benetti and they pride themselves on their Made in Italy yachts.

The first-ever shipyard launched by Benetti was in Viareggio in 1873. After nearly 100 years, in 1961 Benetti starts to produce steel boats, and the first yacht was launched under the name of Luxury Motor Yacht. Choose from a few different categories of yachts such as Class, B.Yong, Oasis, and B. Now or B. Century.

The Motopaniflo is the perfect yacht for travel. It is 37 meters long and it’s beautiful. Wait until you see the inside of the yacht, it is absolutely stunning! It fits 10 guests in 5 cabins and another 7 people in 4 cabins that are part of the crew. In case you’ve been wondering which Italian sailing yachts brands to invest in, Benetti should be in your top 5.

italian yacht

Among the best Italian yacht brands we have to count Azimut in our top 5 list. The business was founded by Paolo Vitelli in 1969. The first yacht that defined the history of the brand was the AZ 43’ Bali one and it “was an immediate success”. One of Azimut’s sayings is ”Italian as a way of life” meaning their attention to detail in the production of every single yacht is impeccable.

Azimut’s products show elegance, luxury, and the best quality you could find. No wonder it’s at the top of the Italian luxury yacht brands. There are about 6 collections on the website. Flybridge, S Collection, Magellano, Atlantis, Grande, and Verve. All of the collections have different sizes of yachts.

The Magellano for example was built for anyone ”who wants to cruise further afield”. It has gentle navigation and limited fuel consumption. The interior is specifically for those who wish to stay on the boat for a longer period. The Magellano 43 for instance had 2/3 cabins and it’s perfect for a small family or group of friends.

3. Mangusta

italian yacht brands

Mangusta is a bit newer than the previous brands . They have over 30 years of experience in being on the top of the Italian yacht brands list. The founders are the Balducci family who came up with the Mangusta name in 1985. The name comes from mongoose, which is ”the only animal that can tackle and defeat cobras. At that time the best company for fast vessels used to be the Cobra by Tecnomarine.

So the Mangusta was a new challenge, to beat the existing company in the best Italian sailing yachts brands. Giuseppe Balducci’s history also begins in Viareggio when he was working in a historic shipyard. The innovations that came after these years are truly amazing and it’s still a well-respected company.

You’ll find three types of yachts, Mangusta Oceano, Gransport, and Maxiopen. I found the Maxi Open the most interesting. It is a luxury sports yacht, it’s designed to be spacious while still offering enough speed. The smallest model can still hold up to 14 people on board in total. While the 132E has 5 cabins for guests and the owner, plus another 3 for the crew. So in total, it can fit up to 17 people. You can bring a lot of your friends to this yacht.

italian yacht

Using Riva’s own words about its yachts ”Devil is in the details” and I couldn’t agree more. Out of the 10 Italian luxury yacht brands Riva is probably the most luxurious looking with so much detail. It was founded in 1842 by Pietro Riva. Today it is part of the Ferretti Group.

You’ll find three different yachts at Riva, the Sportfly, Open, and Flybridge. Sportyfly’s largest yacht is the 88’ Folgore. It’s an ”irresistible thunderbolt”, it’s fast, beautiful and the design is just magnificent. It has 4 cabins and two standard crew cabins. The interior has everything you ever need for your vacation on the Italian coast.

From the Flybridge collection, I like the 110’ Dolcevita the most. It’s their new fiberglass flagship. And it is also a collaboration between Officina Italiana Design and the Ferretti Group Engineering Department. The yacht itself is stunning, and aesthetically pleasing with the highest technology. It has 5 cabins and 3 standard crew cabins, so it’s quite spacious. Let’s see the last of the Italian yacht brands.

5. Sanlorenzo

italian yacht

The last on our list of Italian sailing yachts brands is Sanlorenzo. They have over 60 years of experience in this field, founded by Gianfranco Cecchi and Giuliano Pecchia in 1958. They have been building high-quality motor yachts that can be ordered on request. And their motto is ’made to measure’, meaning you can request them to be made in many ways.

There are 4 collections to note at Sanlorenzo. SL, SD, SX and SP Range. The SL yacht for example is elegant and well-balanced, available in 6 different models. All of them can be personalized based on the owner’s taste and passions. Let’s take the SL106 Asymmetric as an example. It is 32,38 meters long and can fit a total of 15 people on board.

The SP range is quite new, designed with sustainability and comfort in mind. There’s only one model available, which is the SP110. It ”offers the best performances at the lowest fuel consumption”. Have you seen solar panels on a yacht? Yes, the SP110 has solar panels that supply the power to run the hotel load. It fits about 12-13 people and has a length of 33,04 meters. Even from an architectural point of view, this yacht is exquisite and worth investing in. Which of these Italian yacht brands is your favorite?

6. Baglietto

italian yacht brands

Continuing our list of Italian luxury yacht brands, next up is Baglietto. The brand was founded over 160 years ago, in 1854 with just the dream of having small fishing boats. Its founder is Pietro Baglietto whose vision was so clear that even today Baglietto is a well-respected yachts brand. He created racing boats, cruising yachts, and standard boats. Over the year the family business has been passed down to generations.

Today they stand proud as a 160 years old business that creates the most amazing yachts in Italy. There are 4 distinctive ranges to look at. The Dom Line, Tline, Fast Line, and Superfast Line. But besides these 4 ranges, Baglietto also offers the possibility to custom make your own yacht.

In the Fast Line, there are 3 different models designed by Francesco Paszkowski. The Fast43 is a 43.65 meters long yacht that can hold up to 17 people, out of which 7 are crew members. Another designer for Baglietto is Stefano Vafiadis, whose range is the Dom Line. The Dom 133 – Hybrid, has an overall length of 40.60 meters and can hold up to 18 people. The interior design is magnificent. You can literally live on this yacht!

7. Ferretti

italian yacht

The Ferretti Group was founded by the Ferretti brothers in 1968. They were previously marketing motor boats for an American Firm but then decided to build their own ones. The first one was built in 1971 and was called a ‘motor sailer’. After this, a series of other motor yachts were built by the Ferretti brothers, and soon they expanded into a bigger company.

The Ferretti Group also owns Riva, Custom Line, and CRN. So what type of “boats” can you buy from one of the best Italian yachts brands like Ferretti? According to the company, “the Ferretti Yachts fleet is a rich mix of comfort”. Let’s take the FERRETTI YACHTS 1000, which is a new concept of yachts. It looks and feels luxurious from the inside out.

The amount of time spent on designing and prototyping these yachts is over 15,000 hours. And to this day, it is their largest yacht built. The exterior looks premium with all of the details thought out carefully. The interiors look like the inside of an apartment. With sofas, tables, and chairs that make up a lounge and allow 20 people to be on board. The bedrooms and bathrooms are stunning too!

8. Rossinavi

italian yacht brands

The brand Rossivani is fairly new compared to the other Italian sailing yachts brands. Rossivani was founded in 2007 by Cantiere Fratelli Rossi. So many brands in Italy have been created by families and passed down to generations, working with the same passion. They create stylish yet simple designs which are made to last for years to come.

On their website, you can check out the fleets as they were made in each year, all the way back to 2000. The “South” was the first-ever made yacht by the Rossivani company and it’s 54 meters. The average speed is 15 knots with a maximum of 17, meanwhile smaller yachts go between 6-8. These yachts can accommodate up to 12 guests.

Looking at the newest model which is the “Piacere” one, was built for anyone in all types of sea conditions. It’s made in a way that both the internal and external spaces are optimized. The overall length is almost 50 meters. Although it doesn’t say how many people can fit into this yacht, however, you can choose to have a large garage on the bow. Simply said, it’s a pretty big yacht!

italian yacht brands

The story of CRN began in 1963 in Ancona which is in the Marche region of Italy. If you’re familiar with this region, then you know the Le Marche beaches as beautiful, so it’s only right that you need a yacht to discover all of them. CRN comes from “Costruzioni e Riparazioni Navali” which translates to “Shipbuilding and Ship Repairs”. Ancona has been a “strategic maritime hub” for 2400 years.

CRN is passionate about steel and aluminum, to bring their ideas to life and listen to your visions of how you imagine the yacht to be. They say “if you can dream it, we can make it”. Looking at the CRN Megayachts, they are definitely larger than the previous ones on our list. Mimtee for example is a beauty of 79 meters and it was designed for families.

Another beautiful 54,80-meter yacht is the Atlante. It’s quite huge and it fits around 13 guests. Although the exterior is more similar to the exterior of a ship, the yacht is still beautiful and functional for pleasure use. Other fleets CRN designed are Ciao, Rio, Voice, or Cloud 9. The Cia and Rio are the newest addition to the 2022 year. It’s a great choice if you’re looking for premium yachts!

10. Custom Line

italian yacht brands

As we have mentioned before, Custom Line is owned by the Ferretti Group. If you have seen the yachts they produce then you know you’ll only get the best quality. What does Custom Line promise to deliver then? Their fleets are “designed to fulfill every lifestyle and cruising need”. They have two main fleet lines, the Planing, and Navetta. All of these yachts were made with excellence in mind, so your sailings can go as smoothly as you can expect them to.

From the Navetta line, the 42 is the company’s largest displacement yacht. It is practical, it’s stunning and it blends into the sea. What’s even better is that this beauty is fully customizable. Whatever you wish to create inside this yacht, Custom Line will grant your wishes. It can fit up to 4 VIP sections, meaning that a maximum of 20 people can be on board. This will include 5 cabins for guests and another 4 for crew members. Which one was your favorite out of the 10 Italian yacht brands?

Best Italian Yacht Brands – Italian Sailing Yachts Brands – Wrap up

That concludes our list of Italian yacht brands. In case you wish to experience the luxury life and travel more on the sea, a yacht is a perfect investment. In this case, you’ll gain more life experience, you’ll travel and if you’re lucky enough you get to do that with family and your loved ones. After all, what’s the point of owning a yacht if you cannot take your family and friends on it? What we love about the Italian luxury yacht brands is their attention to detail. From the outside of the yacht to the inside furniture , everything is so well-thought-out.

For instance, if you purchase a bigger yacht, you’ll get about 8 cabins easily. Of course, some need to be reserved for the crew members as it’s important to have people help with sailing, however, you still have plenty of room for yourself. Other specifications may include fuel consumption. The majority are designed in a way that you use less fuel and get more travel time out of it. Whichever brand you choose, they will not disappoint you!

Where should I go on an Italy yacht charter?

Ligurian Riviera Yacht Charters

Also known as the Italian Riviera, Liguria Riviera yacht rentals are characterised by centuries-old architecture, historic landmarks, and craggy cliffs.  Highlights of the Italian Riviera include  Cinque Terre , a string of former fishing towns carved into the hills overlooking the sea. Nearby  Portofino  shares the same type of brightly-coloured buildings and is a magnet for superyacht charters.

Amalfi Coast Yacht Charters

Amalfi Coast yacht rentals are one of the most beloved cruising grounds in Italy. Also known as the Sorrentine Peninsula, the coast stretches from Naples to Salerno, covering towns such as Sorrento , Positano, Ravello and Amalfi. Islands including Capri and the Phlegrean archipelago (which covers Ischia, Procida and Vivara) are included in the Amalfi Coast. The region has limited beaches, but plenty to see and do onshore- you won't ever be bored on the Amalfi Coast!

The island of nearby Capri is steeped in culture, history and natural beauty. Explore the ancient villas, and discover the wonders of the legendary Blue Grotto.

Sardinia Yacht Charters

Located in the Tyrrhenian sea next to the French island of Corsica , Sardinia is hugely different to the Italian mainland. In contrast to the steep bluffs and deep sapphire sea of the Amalfi Coast and Italian Riviera, Sardinia is bordered by sugary sand beaches and crystal-clear bays.

The north-east coast of the island is the most popular for visiting yachts. For keen sailors, a voyage around La Maddalena archipelago can't be beaten- it's the same location where a number of prestigious regattas are held and it sits on the famous  Costa Smeralda , which   is well-known for its beaches and fantastic snorkeling opportunities.   Porto Cervo is a luxury-lovers dream, with its high-end shops and designer emporiums close to the main port. Meanwhile, Olbia is the quieter sister of Porto Cervo, where you can while away the day wandering around museums and admiring the architecture.

Venice Yacht Charters

the famous canals of Venice where luxury charter yachts are not allowed to cruise but provides a romantic setting while guests are enjoying their vacation

A cultural gem of Italy, Venice is a city that is primed for of art and theatre fans. There are countless museums and art galleries for you to explore during your visit, and while you can't cruise your yacht through the city's inner waterways, you can indulge in a gondola ride- and that's far more intimate and romantic!

Nearby, the island of Murano is famed for its production of unique hand-blown glass art, and makes the perfect stop for a day wandering the boutiques and galleries.

Yacht charters in Venice can also incorporate the beautiful neighboring destinations of Croatia into their itinerary. Speak with your yacht charter broker for more information.

Cinque Terre on the Italian Riviera

An Italy yacht rental vacation offers an abundance of things to see and do. Here is our small selection of some of the most impressive:

Don't Miss:

  • Chryst of the Abyss , an 8-ft bronze statue that stands 17m below the surface of the sea in Portofino, creating a popular diving spot.
  • Fontelina , an iconic beach club set on the rocks in Capri.
  • Villa Rufolo , a villa with beautiful, manicured gardens overlooking the sea in Ravello.
  • Il San Pietro di Positano , a pretty hotel with an elegant terrace looking out over the ocean in the cliffs of Positano.
  • The Faraglioni , a rock formation off the coast of Capri.
  • Cala Goloritze , in Sardinia, a white-sand beach which is consistently voted one of the prettiest in Europe.
  • Hotel Splendido , timeless hotel and SuperyachtSet hotspot in the hills looking out over the bay of Portofino.
  • The Sunken City of Baiae , a small city that sunk into the sea during Roman times close to Naples.
  • The Blue Grotto , or Grotto Azzura, a semi-submerged cave in Capri where the light refracts the sunlight from outside, creating a mesmerizing optical illusion.

From family-friendly fun to dazzling party hotspots, Italy provides it all. You can enjoy laid-back cruises or jam-packed island-hopping and finish your yacht charter with enough memories to last a lifetime.

With a rich history stretching back thousands of years, Italy has long been a pilgrimage destination for culture vultures across the globe, who come in their droves to absorb its beautiful architecture, fine art and iconic culture. From the colosseum in Rome and world-famous artists to its iconic fashion houses, the allure of Italy's rich history and culture is clear.

You’re spoilt for choice when it comes to superyachts for charter in Italy, with one of the largest and most diverse fleets in the world for you to choose from.

Motor Yacht Charters in Italy

You can choose between a small, fast and sporty motor yacht , or a larger one with all the latest amenities; or something in between the two. Motor yachts with planing hulls are ideal for you if you want to zip between destinations quickly. They are sleek, sexy and ideal for speed demons. However, be aware that they consume more fuel and will be less stable at anchor.

Motor yachts with displacement and semi-displacement hulls are generally slower, but offer more space as well as stability at anchor. The largest yachts in the international charter fleet are all displacement or semi-displacement.

Sailing Yacht Charters in Italy

There are plenty of sailing yachts for charter in Italy. Choose between a high-performance ketch, a classic sloop or a catamaran for increased on-board volume.

The country’s west coast is better for experienced sailors who aren’t afraid of wind and swell. The east side is more relaxed, and you can easily incorporate some island-hopping around Croatia into your vacation.

With so many options available, there’s something to suit every type of budget in Italy. The average prices for motor and sailing yacht charter in Italy are as follows;

  • An Italy motor yacht rental can range from $32,600 to $1.3m per week plus expenses
  • A sailing yacht charter in Italy averages from $29,000 to $560k weekly plus expenses

Italy’s charter season runs between April and October. Peak season is in July and August, when the mercury’s at its peak and rainfall and wind levels are at their lowest. Savvy charterers looking to save some money should consider chartering a yacht in Italy during shoulder season, which is generally between April and May, and September and October. While these months aren’t as lively as peak season, you can still enjoy warm weather, fewer tourists, and less competition for slips.

Turquoise waters of Sardinia in Italy

Italy’s west coast is the most popular region for yacht charters, and most of clients will usually book a week or more in order to fully experience all that this slice of paradise has to offer.

Most yacht rentals begin in Naples with access to the most popular destinations like the Amalfi Coast, Capri and Sardinia . For yacht charters on the Italian Riviera, most people begin in Genoa .

You can browse our selection of tailor-made itineraries to help you choose the type of vacation that’s right for you;

Where to End a Italy Yacht Charter

The most popular destination for beginning or ending a yacht charter is by far and wide Naples , especially for the Amalfi Coast, thanks to its excellent international links and well-provisioned superyacht marinas.

Panoramic view in Agropoli with the sea in the background. Cilento, Campania, southern Italy.

While exploring Italy by yacht, you will find plenty of marinas that cater to a wide range of superyachts. This includes:

  • Marina di Stabia  is a luxury marina close to Naples, which caters to yachts up to 100m.
  • Marina Molo Luise  is a second option close to Naples, which caters to yachts measuring up to 140m.
  • Porto Lotti , located in the Italian Riviera, caters to yachts of up to 100m.
  • Darsena Fontanelle on the East Coast has a maximum capacity of 60m.
  • Venice Yacht Pier , which has the capacity to host yachts of up to 120m.

Italy is one of our most popular destinations in the summer months. Therefore, advanced booking is crucial if you want to secure your perfect yacht, in your ideal destination on your preferred dates.

Your broker will also need plenty of time to tailor an itinerary to suit you, and enough time to book ahead for the nights you wish to spend in marinas. We recommened booking up to 3 months in advance to give your yacht charter broker the optimum time to organise everything down to the last detail.

Italy yacht charter itineraries.

Our wide selection of itineraries has been curated with the help of brokers and yachting experts to ensure each one is perfectly tailored for a luxury yacht charter. To make it easier to choose the right fit for you and your party, you can browse our itineraries based on the number of days you’re planning to spend chartering.

From Portofino to Positano and everywhere in between, Italy is home to a variety of charter hotspots. If you’re looking to explore one region in Italy, we recommend an itinerary that covers between 5-7 days. This will give you enough time to spend on shore discovering the delights of new towns and pretty villages, while also enjoying some down time on deck.

If you’re looking to explore two regions that aren’t far from each other (for example the Amalfi Coast and Sardinia) you should consider 7 days. Your itinerary can incorporate an overnight cruise to ensure you don’t waste a day underway.

For more than two regions, or if you’re looking to spend more than one night in any destination, you should consider an itinerary that is longer than 7 days. This will give you enough time to fully experience everything that this beautiful Mediterranean destination has to offer.

Italy is a vast country that covers many sub-regions, so be sure to consider this when browsing our itineraries. Many people will choose to start and end their vacation in Italy, but it’s also possible to incorporate neighbouring countries into an itinerary; a popular destination is the South of France, but you could also incorporate Croatia or Greece.

Italy Yacht Charter Q&A

Italy is one of the yachting capitals of the world, and certain regions are extremely busy during peak season.

You should start the booking process as early as possible, particularly if you’re looking to spend some nights in port. Marinas such as Marina Grande in Capri and Marina di Portofino are among the most in-demand in the Mediterranean, so be sure to let your broker know if you’d like to book a berth in either of these.

As with all popular travel destinations, Italy can be congested and touristy in the height of summer. Cultural sites and landmarks will always be popular attractions, but you can avoid the crowds by dining at exclusive restaurants and beach clubs, which you can find in our Points of Interest section.

In most European countries, VAT is charged on yacht charters. The percentage varies from country to country. Italy charges 22% on the cost of the charter, however, there are some instances where this can be reduced depending on time spent chartering in international (or non-EU) waters. Talk to your charter broker for more information.

If you’re looking to explore one or two areas of Italy, we recommend a 7-day itinerary. However if you’re looking to explore multiple regions of Italy, you should plan a longer itinerary. Luckily, there’s plenty of room for flexibility and longer and shorter itineraries can be arranged according to the needs of your charter party.

With a huge variety of yachts to choose from, there’s a charter yacht in Italy to suit every budget.

For a mid-sized motor yacht during peak season, you can expect to pay anywhere between $90,000 to $300,000 per week plus expenses during peak season.

You should be aware that the price displayed next to the yachts on our site are base rates, and do not cover additional expenses.

Additional costs include the cost of fuel, berthing, VAT, crew tips and food and beverages. You should factor these costs in and typically expect to pay upwards of 30 - 35% of the base rate on top of your charter fee.

To help you get an idea of the yachts that are available, you can browse ALL crewed yachts available for charter in Italy on our site. When you’ve chosen your perfect yacht, you can make an inquiry and a charter broker will be in touch.

They will take care of the booking process, and talk to you about what you want from your vacation so that they can provide you with an incredible experience down to the very last detail.

If you’re still undecided on the yacht that you want, that’s not a problem; your charter broker will consider your requirements and recommend a selection for you.

There are plenty of opportunities for sailing in Italy. The country’s west coast is ideal for experienced sailors who don’t mind wind and swells. Islands like Sicily, Sardinia, Capri and Ischia are all great locations for a sailing vacation. Meanwhile, Italy’s sheltered east coast is typically calmer, and you could even incorporate some island-hopping in Croatia.

Our clients typically book a yacht charter in Italy between June and August. However, the weather in certain regions is still pleasant as early as June and as late in the season as September.

In September in particular, the seas are warmer and there are far fewer tourists, so this could be a good time to visit if you’re looking for a more relaxed vacation.

Where you begin your yacht charter in Italy depends on where you want to charter. One of the most popular start destinations is Naples, which provides access to all the most well-known yachting destinations including the Amalfi Coast, Capri, Sardinia and the Italian Riviera (or Liguria).

An Italy yacht charter vacation brings this central Mediterranean country’s beautiful culture and scenery to life. You can experience many different aspects of Italy, including the restaurants, art, history and colour in the comfort of your favourite luxury charter yacht on the Mediterranean and Adriatic coastlines. The famous Italian places you can explore include Naples , Capri , Amalfi , Portofino , Sardinia , Rome ,  Sicily and Venice , to name a few.

Cost To Charter a Yacht In Italy:

The cost to charter a crewed yacht in Italy begins at a price of around 5,000 Euros per week plus advanced provisioning allowance (APA) expenses, typically around 30%. The most expensive luxury Italy superyacht charter holiday costs over 1 million Euros per week plus APA.

The Italy Charter Season:

Like most of the Mediterranean, the Italy season generally runs from April to the end of October. The summer season for Italy is in July and August. This is also the high season as far as yacht charter goes. Other good times to rent your yacht are generally on either of the shoulder seasons (April-May and September-October), each side of the main summer season, as the temperatures are still comfortable, and the onshore tourists have yet to arrive in their largest numbers. The types of yachts available in Italy include motor yacht, sailing yacht charter, skippered, crewed yachts, catamarans, power boats, sailboat, luxury yachts and the ever increasing mega and superyacht charter.

Many Italy and Amalfi private charters begin in Naples. Naples is a city with a distinct energy - chaotic yet charming, cluttered yet beautiful. Rather daunting to the virgin eye,

Naples has a way of shedding your inhibitions, to present a proud and colorful culture, with an alluring hospitality. Naples is the yacht charter hub of southern Italy and the gateway to Capri and the Amalfi Coast. The Isle of Capri and Amalfi present some of the most spectacular coastlines of the whole Mediterranean.

AMALFI COAST - COSTIERA AMALFITANA

A yacht holiday in Italy must incorporate the stunning Amalfi Coast. The Amalfi coast is around a day sail south of Naples. Amalfi and Positano , like Capri, attract visitors and charter yachts of the highest prestige. The 50 km of the Amalfi coastline stretches mainly from Sorrento to Salerno . It remains a place of rare and incredible beauty. The hillside towns are a truly magnificent display of Italian engineering and architecture. Terrace houses and buildings cling to steep cliffs, rising from the coastline.

Portofino is another must see. It is a tiny town of cobble-stone streets, framed by hills of silvery, ancient olive groves. From the top of the hill, the views of the harbor and coastline are breathtaking. Cafes, boutique shops and gelataria’s spill out into the harbor piazza. The portside cafes are a great place to sit and watch the glamorous yachting world go by. Further down the Italian coast, you'll sail upon 'Cinque Terre' - A succession of five coastal villages, all with the same spectacular views of the seas. These villages are less expensive and sophisticated, than their more popular sister, Portofino. There is a stunning and famous walk along this coastal route, linking the five towns romantically called 'Via Dell 'Amore' ( The Way of Love ).

A charter in Sardinia, Italy is also quite an experience. Sardinia is a universe unto itself. It's an island of Italy, where the local language is incomprehensible to all other Italians.

An island with one of Europe's most stunning coastlines; it's waters teem with fish; it's golden sands disappear into oceans of blue; it's rugged mountains are covered with flocks of sheep producing cheese so pungent, your palate will never forget.

Beneteau Italy, Mediterranean

Venice is a city that’s surrounded by so much water, so being afloat on a yacht vacation is a fantastic way to experience this classic Mediterranean city. Venice is one of the most romantic cities in the world , with its intricate web of canals, charming gondoliers, glorious renaissance architecture and narrow cobbled streets. Venice is an essential stop on any Adriatic yacht charter holiday. On your charter boat, take a cruise down the Grand Canal. From the deck of your charter boat, you’ll be able to pass by sights such as the Ca'Foscari, Palazzo Grassi, Guggenheim Museum and the Accademia Bridge.

Why CharterWorld? CharterWorld is a specialist charter company with all the crewed yachts in Italy and the Mediterranean at the best price. Best 8 Italian Yacht Brands You Should Know!

Italian yachts are a top favorite in the yachting industry due to their unique dimensions and exceptionally well-planned interiors. The vessels typically range over 24 meters long, including beautifully crafted and designed superyachts and megayachts. The comfort and size of the Italian yachts often make them a preferred choice amongst buyers.

As a leading yacht brokerage in Miami, offering the best-in-class yachts for sale, we’ve listed the top eight Italian brands. Whether you are looking at mega yachts for sale or a luxury vessel, read on to learn about them to make an informed investment decision.

Top Italian Brands Offering Mega Yachts for Sale

1. Pershing Yachts Based in Mondolfo, Italy, Pershing luxury yacht builders excel in designing high-performance motor yachts ranging from 14.24 to 35 meters. Owned by the Italian yacht-building brand Ferretti Group, they have created a remarkable reputation in the industry. Pershing yachts for sale are known for advanced propulsion, aesthetics, and excellent functionality. We offer the best selection of used and new Pershing yachts for sale, including the likes of Pershing 108, Pershing 82, Pershing 70, and more. Our brokers can help you look at vessels ranging from 50 feet to 108 feet, equipped with advanced technology and exceptional features. 2. Benetti If we talk about the oldest known Italian brand of yachts, Benetti reserves the top spot. Built by Lorenzo Benetti in 1873 for commercial use, the brand has grown tremendously to give a whole new meaning to Italian excellence. It has come a long way from building durable steel boats during World War II to producing wide-scale luxury yachts for sale today. After Azimut Spa took over the Benetti shipyard in 1985, a significant transformation was witnessed in the design of the superyachts. The yachts were modernized to meet the contemporary style of aesthetics and improved engine durability—all in all, a wise investment. 3. Riva Founded in 1852 in Sarnico, where ‘Pietro Riva’ grew up to become the legend of the Italian nautical scene, Riva yachts have come a long way. From making local working boats for anglers to meeting the global demand for mega yachts, their fleet includes cruises and high-powered motor yachts. Today, they are known for building more extensive and accommodating vessels. 4. Azimut If the aesthetic appeal of yachts is of primary importance to you, be sure to include Azimut luxury yachts in your list. They reflect a distinct, authentic Italian style with a firm grasp on creative techniques. Their vessels have anti-fouling paints to avoid damages to aquatic life and advanced nanotechnologies. 5. CRN From 1963, CRN yachts have paved their way to becoming a global leader and the epitome of design, elegance, and excellence. Innovation in the Italian yacht industry was brought about by this brand, including all the latest technological demands of cruising life. Currently, they have around 200 watercraft, including military and commercial vessels and splendid luxury yachts for cruising. 6. Sanlorenzo In 1972, Giovanni Jannetti took the company reins to ensure Sanlorenzo became a sign of luxury, elegance, strength, and durability in the yachting industry. Sanlorenzo excels at producing Italian sailing yachts and superyachts for sale, built using resin-infused fiberglass, steel, and high-quality aluminum. The exquisite characteristics of these yachts include enhanced naval architecture, modern layout, awe-striking interior and exterior, and power. 7. Custom Line Custom Line was developed in 1996 as an extended model of Ferretti’s flybridge fleet. The vessels by this brand typically range from 12 to 25 meters. They have an exclusive line of superyachts with fiberglass. They also offer customized yachts for sale to meet the varied needs of the buyers. 8. Mangusta Founded in 1985 and owned by the Balducci family, Mangusta is an Italian brand known for producing high-speed yachts, built to perfection in the Tuscan shipyards. In search of the unexpected

The idea of EVO Yachts was born in 2014 from a fortunate encounter between Blu Emme Yachts and the Neapolitan yacht designer Valerio Rivellini.

We were both animated by a simple goal: finding the perfect balance between sleek and functional. In one word, unexpected.

Blu Emme Yachts

italian yacht

The heart and entrepreneurship that kick-started EVO originated from Blu Emme Yachts, a luxury yachts refitting company. Blu Emme was created in 2013 by the Mercuri brothers, a family whose entrepreneurial experience spans different industries.

It all began with their passion for yachting and from the customization needs of their clients, who felt their yachts were no longer fulfilling their requirements.

The Mercuri family decided to give a twist to their experience in management, precision mechanics and technological innovation, shaping a new excellence in Italian craftsmanship and design.

Born to be a game-changer

italian yacht

The Mercuri family aimed to create something exciting that could shake the yachting market, where they saw few innovations.

So they gave birth to their unique mix of passion, creativity, technological and engineering research and Italian yacht design.

EVO transformable yachts are becoming a game-changer for their unexpected spaces and useful features, for their exciting and eye-catching look, designed and made in Italy with high-quality materials.

A perfect mix of style and innovation

italian yacht

It took EVO only a few years to become one of the most anticipated brands at boat shows, a yachting firm that perfectly combines nautical engineering and smart design. In 2016 EVO Yachts was awarded the emerging companies prize by Fondazione Altagamma, a pool of companies representing the Italian style worldwide.

Today, EVO Yachts can count on an established shipyard, the know-how and entrepreneurial spirit of the Mercuri family, with a growing turnover and unparalleled stylistic and technological innovation.

Valerio Rivellini Head of Design and Engineering

italian yacht

Valerio has been a skipper since he was 7. After taking a degree in Marine Engineering, he became a Production Manager for several international shipyards, which led him to a thorough understanding of both design and construction.

Despite being a young designer, his Studio is one of the most sought-after engineering, yacht design and refitting firms in Italy.

A long tradition in shipbuilding

italian yacht

Our shipyard is based near Naples, a city with a long history of shipbuilding. The artisans and workers at our shipyard are committed not only to perfectly shape our design idea, but to keep the tradition of Neapolitan shipbuilding alive.

A distinctive idea of design

From industrial design to gran turismo.

Our yachts draw inspiration from the designer’s imagination, where different worlds collide to create his unique idea of design. Fighters, GT cars, industrial and home design, science fiction have all played a part in our yacht design process.

For the love of the sea

Our yachts are designed to fit every moment of the average day at sea, enhancing the experience with unique design ideas that adapt to and address the owner’s needs.

Five design pillars

Valerio Rivellini perfectly sums up the idea of yachting and the sensations we want to convey with our distinctive designs.

Dreams that’s where every idea comes from

Geometry looking for patterns that will shape ideas

Brains to face feasibility issues and find the best solution

Dust because projects keep being improved in the shipyard

Balance between form, function and features

In pursuit of form and function

italian yacht

At the very heart of our yachts there are clean lines, natural light and modular spaces. We strive to combine cutting-edge features with minimal shapes, making sure our design idea is respected throughout the production stage.

Safety first

italian yacht

Our form and function philosophy reflects in our use of technology, which is just a means to ensure the best experience aboard.

Our yachts can be operated both with a waterfall control system (via console touch-screen, via app, via iPad) and manually, in order to make you feel safe in case of a power failure, wherever you are, whatever the level of assistance you can receive.

Premium materials

Our form and function philosophy can only fulfill when ideas meet first-class materials, chosen and matched with the unparalleled Italian taste.

Italian shipyards visit - what's new in the series-build market?

Published 11 July 2024

With the highest number of new-build yacht orders by country (BI Global Order Book 2024), Italy offers a shipyard for every type of client. Our New Build team has sold two Benetti Class 44 yachts in the last three months but the range of options available is huge. The New Build and Brokerage teams recently visited yards on Italy's west coast to learn about the shipyards and understand their latest offerings.

The team tours the Tankoa shipyard

Sales Broker and Shipyard Relationship Coordinator, Eleonora Pitasso , explains: ‘These shipyard visits are essential to guarantee the intel and opportunities we provide to our clients are accurate and current. It is during these trips that relationships are built and cemented. We learn about the shipyard’s plan and vision for the future, new designs and concepts in development plus the very latest opportunities available for our clients to purchase.’

ALCHEMY by Rossinavi, Motor Yacht of the Year at the World Superyacht Awards 2024

Rossinavi has a boutique feel with a focus on custom yachts from under 40m to over 70m (130-230ft), with all metal work completed in-house, providing consistency across the project development from beginning to end.

Judges particularly liked the architectural floating staircase

‘It is an ideal shipyard for a hands-on client who wants to be involved in a more custom, unique project and wants something that stands out,’ says Broker Justin Pierce . Its recently delivered 65.7m (215.5ft) ALCHEMY , a very busy Burgess charter yacht, has won numerous awards including Motor Yacht of the Year at the World Superyacht Awards 2024, and is great example of the sleek, modern designs with aggressive exterior lines.’

The Sanlorenzo 500 EXP is just one of 24 series the shipyard offers

Offering yachts from a remarkable 24 different series, Sanlorenzo is a distinct semi-custom yacht builder and the second largest yacht builder in the world with over 132 yachts on their 2024 order book (BI Global Order Book 2024).

The Sanlorenzo 64 Steel remains the yard's flagship but it will soon be replaced by the 73m unit under construction

Miami-based broker Charles Jones believes: 'It is the wide-ranging series of options that makes it difficult for any buyer not to consider the shipyard when pressed with even the most unique owner’s requirements. With vessel types ranging from adventurous explorer yachts like the 500 EXP to the elegant 73 Steel and the successful day boat series of the SX and SP ranges, there is a yacht to fit almost every yacht programme imaginable.’

Tankoa's T55 SPORTIVA

Hidden among the abundance of production yacht builders in Italy, Tankoa stands out as one of the more versatile shipyards. Established in 2007, the yard has strategically positioned itself in a growing market segment, focusing on limited series, semi-custom and full custom yachts ranging from 45-80m (150-260ft).

The sea-level observation lounge is a crowd-pleasing feature

The T55 Sportiva caught the attention of New York-based broker Rob Vermilye . ‘At 55m (180ft) and 455GT, this aluminium-hulled yacht has amenities usually found on much larger vessels, but neatly packaged below 500 GT. It’s well-suited to both the American and European markets. Its shallow draft and water-level observation lounge are perfect for The Bahamas, and its expansive outdoor spaces, like the open-air beach club, full-length pool and spa, would fit in naturally in the South of France.’

Overmarine's new MANGUSTA 165 REV

Overmarine is a yard best known for its Mangusta series, a range that has been highly successful over the last two decades and has delivered no fewer than 19 Mangusta 165s to date.

Overmarine is already rolling out the 165 REV's smaller sister, the 104 REV

With the recent launch of the completely new 165, London-based Broker Nicholas von Sydow thinks: ‘This offers the full package, from the large six cabin layout and huge exterior deck spaces to a 30-knot cruising speed, it’s great for owners and friends who love to explore multiple locations during their time on board.’

A render of the BAGLIETTO 52 T-LINE HYBRID

Athens-based Broker Nikolas Pantagias picks out his personal favourite. ‘It would have to be the 52 T-Line Hybrid, with exterior design by Francesco Paszkowski and interior by Studio Vafiadis. She’s a full displacement 52m (170ft) steel-hulled yacht set for delivery this summer.

The sun deck on the BAGLIETTO 52 T-LINE HYBRID

‘This yacht combines modern looks, significant spaces, excellent quality materials inside and out, modern power solutions and amazing Italian design. Simply put, it’s the ideal Mediterranean yacht.’ Baglietto has already sold 10 models in this popular series with the next available delivery slot not until 2027.

The Italian Sea Group

The ADMIRAL S-FORCE 55, with a possible delivery in the next 18 months

Set within the port of Marina di Carrara, The Italian Sea Group (TISG) has launched 1,288 yachts to date. The group has recently included CELI, an interior supplier, into their portfolio, bringing interiors in-house and adding to their strength of Italian-made quality. London-based Broker Vilena Pavlova suggests: 'Their variety across the brands is unmatched,  with four existing yachting brands focusing on a different type of vessel, there is truly something for all at TISG.'

The impressive swim platform on the ADMIRAL S-FORCE 55

The 55m Admiral S-Force, with possible delivery in the next 18 months, is a perfect sub 500GT yacht for an owner looking to step on board imminently.

The AZIMUT GRANDE 36

Set within the yacht-building hub of Viareggio lies Azimut, which focuses on the construction of yachts between 12-40m. Their incredibly successful GRANDE series has sold over 160 units since 2017 and is evolving with the inclusion of their new GRANDE 44 series.

One of the AZIMUT GRANDE 36 series in fit out at the yard

'The Grande series continues to be in high demand,' says  Eleonora Pitasso . 'A Grande 36 is available for delivery in Autumn 2025, which makes it a prime opportunity to purchase this popular model within the next 18 months. Not to be missed.'

Benetti's MOTOPANFILO 45

With more than 69 yachts currently under construction, Benetti continues to be dominant in the region with a vast array of models and sizes available from their Class, Oasis, B.Yond, B.Now and B.Century series.

The next available MOTOPANFILO 37 delivers in Spring 2026

Livorno-based Barry Gray from the Burgess New Build team thinks: 'The Motopanfilo is a great introductory model for a client new to yachting. It has been reimagined to appeal to new generations while keeping elegant elements from its past.' There is currently a MOTOPANFILO 37 available with a delivery in Spring 2026.

Please get in touch  if you want to know more about these new-build opportunities or any others. We can tell you which yachts are available worldwide.

Capri floats ring of steel to thwart A-listers and tourists

Barrier used to prevent damage and bad behaviour as tourists outnumber residents in summer months

Kendall Jenner is just one of the few celebrities who may now be forced to drop anchor miles from the shoreline

The yachts draw up each summer to the pristine coves and sparkling waters of Capri .

But under plans put forward last week by the mayor of the Italian island, they will soon be barred from sailing too close.

Frustrated with hordes of tourists clogging up famous sites such as the Blue Grotto, Franco Cerrotta, the mayor of Anacapri, is is proposing a barrier of 40 buoys be placed 100 metres (330ft) offshore for a distance of 6 kilometres (3.7 miles) around the western rim of the island.

A-list visitors like Beyonce, Leonardo di Caprio and Kendall Jenner will be forced to drop anchor outside the perimeter, while tour operators ferrying day-trippers to the Grotto will find their path blocked.

Like Venice, this island off the coast of Naples is joining the list of Italian destinations establishing measures to keep people away.

“No-one has the right to damage the environment or risk hurting children in swimming areas,” Mr Cerrotta told The Telegraph. “There is too much traffic and motorboats are travelling too fast. We have to stop boorish behaviour and defend the sea.”

Tourists have been drawn to Capri for at least 2000 years, following in the footsteps of Tiberius, the Roman emperor, who built a sumptuous hilltop palace here.

But their number now tops that of the entire population over the summer months, with 16,000 foreigners visiting the island in May and June, compared to the 13,000 residents.

No place is more popular with tourists in peak season, according to the Italian travel and tourism body, Federaturismo.

Last week, the mayor met port officials from Naples to discuss his council’s proposal – but it is unlikely to take effect before 2025.

Leonardo DiCaprio pictured on a boat with his father George, niece Normandie DiCaprio and stepmother Peggy Farrar

Boat rental companies are furious, saying the move will damage their business. One boat operator, who declined to be named, accused the mayor of acting “as if he was Mussolini” referring to Italy’s former fascist dictator.

During the summer holiday season boat operators earn a premium charging up to €100 (£85) an hour to take visitors on scenic cruises around the island. They claim the buoys would hamper their business and drive tourists away.

“Capri depends on tourism,” the unnamed boat operator said. “We need to respect existing laws and regulate boat speeds in swimming areas, not just make unilateral decisions.

Holly Star, an Australian who runs the Michel’angelo Cooking School with her husband, Gianluca, said: “The volume of day trippers puts pressure on the island’s infrastructure, resources and community and doesn’t enable those travellers to experience the true essence of Capri.

“It’s impossible to grasp the natural beauty and rich culture here without devoting more time.”

Capri's spectacular coastline, rich in inlets, with numerous yachts

Lorenzo Coppola, a hotel owner who heads the local hotel association, said the tourists congregate in key areas that are overcrowded and the inflow needs to be managed more effectively because infrastructure and resources were already stretched.

Capri was forced to temporarily suspend tourist arrivals when its water supply broke down in June and it collapsed again last week. Ferries and buses are crammed with daily arrivals.

The island has doubled its visitors’ fee from 2.5 euros to 5 euros but some say that is not enough to protect the future of Capri and its residents.

Teodorico Boniello, the head of the local consumers’ association, told The Telegraph: “Capri is becoming a dormitory for tourists and residents are being forced out.

“There are more people coming here than we can cope with and families can’t afford to stay. The national government needs to take urgent action to protect the community and the island’s future.”
