WHY YOUR DONATION MATTERS

How your donation helps.

  • Donations for use "where most needed" (or left undesignated) give us the most flexibility to ensure every gift is used in the most effective way. Our spending is limited to Board-approved programs and purchases.
  • Donations can be directed towards schooner maintenance and upgrade projects . These will prolong the life of our schooners Pacific Swift and Pacific Grace, and enhance the  trainee experience and safety. Pacific Swift is in need of a foredeck replacement (aft deck is already done) and Pacific Grace needs about 14 hull planks replaced.
  • Donations can be designated to bursaries for young people with financial needs or those going through challenging life situations.
The amazing experience that is a tall ship voyage with SALTS came not only in the 10-day voyage itself, but in the people I spent it with.  I came for the wildlife and waterfalls.  I will come back for the people I experienced them with.

Sailboat getting the boot from Lac Leamy decades after wreck

Some parts will be preserved in a museum.

Réseau du patrimoine de Gatineau et de l'Outaouais

Social Sharing

A sailboat that sank in Gatineau's Lake Leamy more than 40 years ago will finally get removed from the water and live on, partially, in a museum, according to Fisheries and Oceans Canada.

The Ville de Vanier, also known as the Jean Richard, was a large boat built in 1959. In August 1983, it sank in the western Quebec lake after a fire and has remained there ever since.

The wreck was labelled a "potential vessel of concern" in 2019 while a risk assessment flagged safety hazards for pedestrians and boaters and stated the vessel should be removed.

The Canadian Coast Guard told Radio-Canada it received permission to do that in February 2023 but was waiting on funding.

Divers from MVC Océan, a Trois-Rivières company, will begin dismantling the wreck on Monday.

Heavy duty equipment, including some kind of crane, sits on a platform in a lake.

Some parts of the boat have been buried in the sediment over time. Those sections won't be removed "to reduce the impact on the seabed," according to the coast guard .

Once it's out of the water, most pieces of the wreck will be recycled or go to certified material treatment centres, Pierre Nellis, Fisheries and Oceans Canada's chief intervention officer, told Radio-Canada in French.

But Hubert Desgagnés, a volunteer scientific advisor at the Musée maritime de Charlevoix , told Radio-Canada he will  identify a few pieces to be preserved and brought back to the museum.

Nellis said the wreck is expected to be gone by Sept. 30 but added the work could take a few extra days.

We're Here to Answer Your Questions

Many people have called Boat Angel requesting information inquiring about the process of donating their boat to charity. Recently a man called from Orlando, Florida area about his donated Seidelman Sailboat. He wanted to know about the free vacation package we offered and how he would receive his tax form. We told him that the tax form was sent to him immediately after the sale of the boat. The IRS requires us to sell the donation boats within six months of receipt but our process moves it up to about 14 business days. It doesn't matter to us whether it is a fishing boat with a broken engine or a small yacht; we treat every boat donation the same. Some of the donors ask if we accept cars and they ask if our car donations are managed the same way. The process for cars is the same the same charity programs benefit when we process cars. We photograph the vehicles and the donors receive a free vacation and IRS tax receipt. So whether you are in Florida or across the USA in California we will handle your boat donation with care and expertise.

Canada’s plan to donate refurbished armour to Ukraine is still spinning its wheels

More than 9 months after the vehicles were transferred, Ottawa and an Ontario firm are still negotiating

A plan to rebuild and modernize two dozen decommissioned Canadian light armoured vehicles for donation to Ukraine is stuck in bureaucratic limbo more than nine months after the defence department handed the vehicles over to an Ontario company that specializes in restoration, CBC News has learned.

Defence Minister Bill Blair signed off on the transfer last January. He said negotiations between Armatec Survivability in Dorchester, Ont., and the Canadian Commercial Credit Corporation (CCC), an arm of the federal government, are still ongoing.

News of the holdup comes after Canada announced earlier this month that it would send Ukraine almost 100 retired armoured vehicle chassis, which can only be used for spare parts.

Ukraine has been quietly pushing Canada to complete the deal with Armatec. It hopes that U.S. interest in the company's restoration techniques can open up access to thousands of retired American military armoured vehicles.

Blair declined to identify the obstacles that are preventing the deal from going forward, citing the confidentiality of contract talks.

Defence Minister Bill Blair says there are 'unresolved issues' in negotiations between Armatec and the government.

Photo: The Canadian Press / Sean Kilpatrick

He was more cautious about the Armatec proposal, saying Canada, the United States and other allies routinely discuss Ukraine's tank and troop carrier needs through a NATO coalition.

Blair was asked directly whether GDLS-Canada opposed the Armatec bid.

They've never mentioned to me any opposition to that, but the only thing I talk about with GDLS is the delivery of the things that we're buying from them, he said.

They have never suggested to me any concerns about any other approach to this issue that the Government of Canada may take. It's never come up in conversation, and, quite frankly, I've never sought their opinion.

Over the last several months, lobbyists for GDLS-Canada have been meeting with government officials, including senior members of Blair's staff and opposition members of Parliament. The federal lobbyist register identified 14 separate meetings since January on a range of procurement issues.

General Dynamics Land Systems Canada was asked for comment on the Armatec proposal and declined to answer. Instead, it referred to a written statement about its long-standing relationship with the Canadian government.

General Dynamics is a strategic industrial partner for the Government of Canada and has, for over 47 years, proudly worked in close co-operation with the Canadian Armed Forces, said spokesperson Jay Hancock, CDLS-Canada manager of corporate affairs.

General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada is proud to support the Government of Canada in its efforts to provide military aid, including Armoured Combat Support Vehicles (ACSV).

Canada donated new 39 ACSVs to Ukraine and is in the process of procuring and delivering an additional 50 of the troop carriers, including ones that can be used as ambulances.

The Canadian Commercial Credit Corporation was asked for comment. It said that it's bound by certain confidentiality obligations and could not disclose much about the project, or the reasons for the delay.

Based on instructions from the Department of National Defence (DND), CCC is currently in discussions with Armatec Survivability Corp. regarding a potential purchase by the Government of Canada for donation to Ukraine, said Susannah Denovan-Fortier, senior director of marketing and communications at CCC, in a written statement.

CCC is an executing agency for the delivery of Canada's in-kind aid to foreign governments. For all projects, CCC balances the need to work as quickly as possible while ensuring we respect our due diligence process and government guidelines.

A self-sustaining private island in Canada that can only be reached by boat or helicopter is for sale

  • An island off the coast of Mahone Bay in Nova Scotia, Canada, is for sale for $7.3 million.
  • Strum Island has a luxurious lodge and amenities for guests who want to escape a stressful world.
  • The current owner won't be able to spend as much time there and has listed it for $7.3 million.

Insider Today

A private island off the coast of Nova Scotia, Canada, is on the market at $9.95 million Canadian dollars, or about $7.3 million.

Strum Island is home to a luxurious lodge, and visitors can use the grounds for hunting, sailing, or just entertaining family and friends.

The 10-acre property is one of over 350 islands in Mahone Bay, which is about an hour's drive from Halifax, Nova Scotia.

The current owner, Richard Goldenberg, told Business Insider that people currently pay to stay on the island like they do for a hotel.

Goldenberg said that the original developer thought Strum Island was beautiful — one of the few spots from which you could see and easily access the nearby town of Mahone Bay.

According to listing agent Mariana Cowan, of Coldwell Banker Maritime Realty, the property was conceived by its original owner as an escape from 9/11-era fears and stresses.

"That was the initial reason why he built the home, post-9/11, to have that getaway. That was very important to him as the initial developer of the property," Cowan told the National Post . "That is how it came about — to build this wonderful property as a safe haven."

Goldenberg also noted that whoever purchases the island could live there if they wanted to.

It's one of the closest islands to the mainland, making it ideal for anyone who doesn't want to be too far from civilization. But because of some of the island's features — from gardens to fishing opportunities — you might not ever have to leave.

Take a look a this luxurious getaway in Canada.

The developer purchased Strum Island in 2001 and started construction on the lodge in 2003.

The seawall was the first major step in construction. It's made up of a circle of five- to 10-ton boulders that surround the island.

The property took about 16 years to complete.

donate sailboat canada

After construction finished in 2019, Goldenberg became a partner.

One of the obstacles to building on an island is that you must travel back and forth between the mainland for materials and supplies.

donate sailboat canada

"Most of the stuff comes in on a barge," Goldenberg said. "The barge loads up the building material, brings it over to the island, and then it's used for construction."

The main lodge is 9,500 square feet.

donate sailboat canada

The lodge has six bedrooms, each with its own bathroom.

There is also a two-story guest house.

donate sailboat canada

There's another building on the island that has two apartments used for staff, according to Goldenberg, that can also be used to house even more guests.

The staff were provided by the property management and did cleaning, laundry, and cooking.

The island is only a three-minute boat ride from the mainland.

donate sailboat canada

The town of Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia, one of the closest access points to the mainland, can be seen from the island.

Nearby Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, which is classified as a historic site by UNESCO, is only a 12-minute drive away from the dock on the mainland.

The property is being sold with two boats included, the listing says.

donate sailboat canada

All the furniture is also included in the purchase price.

If you want an even faster mode of transport, there’s a helicopter landing pad on the island.

donate sailboat canada

Strum Island is about 70 miles from Halifax Stanfield International Airport, the closest major airport.

There’s an undersea cable connecting the island to the mainland’s power grid.

donate sailboat canada

There are also propane generators to provide backup electricity just in case the power goes out.

The property has its own well, so visitors are not reliant on the mainland for water.

donate sailboat canada

There's an aquifer under the island that supplies the island with water.

There's a sewage system underground as well.

There are also gardens to grow your own food.

donate sailboat canada

There are over 50,000 plants on the island and a greenhouse on the property as well as a vegetable garden with blackberries, strawberries, and more.

Fishing also provides another way to secure food without traveling to the mainland.

donate sailboat canada

"There are an abundant number of different species of fish there at different times of the year that can easily be caught from there," Goldenberg said.

"There are fishing companies that will be happy to pick up guests right up the island and take them out for day trips to go fishing," he added.

If the weather gets turbulent, there are double-paned windows to protect from wind.

donate sailboat canada

There are also three different types of heating systems in case it gets chilly.

The average annual temperature in Mahone Bay is 64 degrees.

donate sailboat canada

"The current it has comes from the south, so it's probably a little bit cooler than Cape Cod," Goldenberg said.

Goldenberg and his two partners are selling the lodge because of a lack of time to visit.

donate sailboat canada

They're involved in another construction project in California and won't have time to be on the island for the next few years.

Your Guide to a Charitable Boat Donation: All Things You Need to Consider When Donating Your Boat or Vessel to Charity

Are you considering donating your boat, yacht, or PWC (Personal Watercraft) in the best and most beneficial way possible? Do you want to avoid any possible issues and have the best financial outcome available? Here’s your guide on how to donate any boat to a nonprofit and benefit from the tax deduction that comes with it.

1. Stop Paying Maintenance, Insurance, Taxes & Slip Fees immediately! 2. Find the best charitable organization that fits your giving needs. 3. Get an idea of how a charity might use Your Boat Donation For and how that can benefit you. 4. Understand the Kind of Tax Deduction You can receive from a charity boat donation. 5. Assess the difference between Charitable Organizations that have experience with these types of maritime donations and others that do not. 6. Compare between Local vs Larger Charitable Organizations 7. Protect yourself against Liability with proper documentation. 8. How The Giving Center and Charity Boats Can Help you. 9. Learn how to resolve issues regarding any missing Paperwork

Boats are terrific things. The feelings you get of outright leisure and excitement when you are out on the water has many benefits to the soul. Well what about when you are not using your boat? If you could use it to save a life, would you do it? Let’s face it, the costs of storage in marinas, or leaving your boat outside exposed to elements of the waters can leave a strain on your wallet as well as your mind. As concern rises over transferring invasive species, it becomes even more complicated to take your boat anywhere you want to these days. This has left so many owners to look into donating boats to charity.

So how about doing something amazing with it? Throughout the years, donating boats to charity has become a great way to make an impact in the world. Additionally it will also qualify for a tax deduction. That boat just sitting around can actually help make life better for children and can save you money on insuring a boat that never gets used. It is a win-win! While all this is nice, if this is not your first time, you will probably already know how to donate a boat. However, if you are considering donating for your first, there are some things to know. Throughout the years, boat donation has become increasingly confusing, and this partially is down due to changes in the IRS (Internal Revenue Service) tax laws governing charitable donations. Gifting your boat to a nonprofit charity can be a remarkable gift used to help others. However, if not done correctly, it can turn into confusion and financial mess. Let’s look at a breakdown on how to donate a boat, and bring you a step closer to help others.

1. STOP PAYING MAINTENANCE, TAXES & SLIP FEES ASAP

When you first donate your boat, you have to make sure costs are immediately stopped. When you donate to a qualified 501(c)(3) charitable organization, you are no longer obligated to pay operating costs attached to the boat itself. That is of course, after the appraisal is done and you are provided with a major gift receipt from the charity itself. It’s time to say adios to the costs of operating, crew, dockage, insurance, maintenance, and anything else your boat would have otherwise swiped out of your wallet.

2. FIND A FITTING CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION

Before beginning your journey in boat donation, you need to ensure that the usage will be properly logged, and that they will make those logs available to you in the event that the IRS audits your claimed deduction. In this event, it can be very useful to you if you are able to provide logs that authenticate the charity’s usage. When you donate your boat, the charity must provide you with a 1098-C form and a written acknowledgement, within thirty days of the donation. This is an integral part of claiming market value. The 1098-C form indicates the vessel will not be sold prior to significant intervening use or material improvement. When donating boats to charity, it can provide you with great satisfaction. It helps you support a cause you are passionate about, and it can also be a good source of support for a nonprofit while it is in use, or later on when they manage to sell it. To find out more on everything needed in order to donate your boat to charity and the tax deductions involved, click here for more information directly from the IRS themselves.

3. UNDERSTAND WHAT CHARITIES USE YOUR BOAT DONATION FOR

  • 1. Used for outings for at-risk students
  • 2. Motivates at-risk youths to turn their life around by giving them the responsibility of cleaning or detailing boats
  • 3. Teaches at-risk youth skills
  • 4. Provides special breaks for young cancer careers and sailing weekends for youngsters recovering from cancer to help them regain their confidence
  • 5. Used to raise money for charity in races
  • 1. Water projects for those that do not have a clean water supply
  • 2. Investing in education for children
  • 3. Working with schools to prevent exploitation, human trafficking, and suicide
  • 4. Investing in the community
  • 5. Funds raised from boat sales may be allocated into housing for the less fortunate
  • 6. It helps put a smile on faces by funding family weekends, residential programs, counseling services, alternative education, foster care, and more

4. KNOW WHAT KIND OF TAX DEDUCTION YOU WILL RECEIVE

In order to maximize any tax deductions you may take, it is vital to claim the ‘’fair market value’’ of your boat. To do so, you can obtain an appraisal from a certified marine surveyor or appraiser. They are usually moderated by the listing or selling prices of other boats in comparison. When doing so, ensure you the surveyor know of any modifications, additions, or equipment replacements that may substantiate an increased valuation. For any boat donation appraised over $5000, the IRS states that an appraisal is required. Furthermore, The IRS requires the charity to label the boat as ‘’significant intervening use’’ in their regularly conducted activities. If not, it will be liquidated by the nonprofit in less than 3 years from the date of donation. This means that the IRS could restrict your deduction to the amount the charity can receive for the boat donation.

5. EVALUATE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THIRD-PARTY VS CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS

If you are not familiar with the term, a third-party fundraiser is when a nonprofit relies on its supporters, businesses, and community members in order to create fundraising campaigns that benefit particular nonprofits. They can come in the form of businesses donating a portion of the proceeds of their sales, restaurant nights, and many other variations of the two. According to a recent report 89% of donors said they would be more inclined to donate when working directly with a nonprofit charity. However, only 19% stated they would be likely to donate by using third-party fundraising platforms. Issues concerning honesty and transparency have for some time been considered barriers to giving. When you provide a donor journey that is seamless through a dedicated website, not only can you attract more donations, but you can also increase the volume of giving. Due to this, almost half of the donors reported they would donate generously when working directly with the charity themselves.

6. COMPARE LOCAL VS NATIONWIDE CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS

If you are looking to donate to a local organization because you want to participate in local impact and protect your community, then that is wonderful! The only obstacle is, that local organizations really struggle with something as big as a boat donation. Because of this, the local organizations end up having to outsource to a donation broker, which typically results in getting less than 25% of the donation, and if they move it quickly, it will reduce your tax deduction. A national organization on the other hand has the capabilities to handle it, you just need to look into their procedures.

7. PROTECT YOURSELF AGAINST LIABILITY

Generally speaking, state charity officials advise the donor take responsibility for transfer of the title to ensure that the vehicle has in fact been donated. You will need to ensure you receive the release of liability which applies in your residing state. In most states, this process involves completing a form which states that your vehicle has been donated. The objective is to assure you are not liable for anything after donating your boat.

8. HOW GIVING CENTER AND CHARITY BOATS HELP

We at Giving Center are not a for-profit middleman or third-party donation site – we are the direct charity organization. We center our efforts on housing, water projects, education, mentoring youth at risk, and work with schools to prevent exploitation, human trafficking, and suicide. We help you in making your boat donation smooth and hassle free. Whether you are seeking to donate your boat, ski/wakeboard, yacht, jet ski, fishing boat, or sailboat, you are able to use the proceeds from the sale to benefit, while benefiting others. The process is a breeze and your tax deduction is the cherry on top. A boat donation can happen for a variety of reasons. Perhaps it is time to make new memories out on the water with something bigger, smaller, or just different. Or your initial purchase was completed during a wave of enthusiasm, and the thrill is long gone. Regardless of the reason, if you are looking to enrich the lives of others with something that you just do not use anymore, contact our team and ask for a call back to take the first step in your journey to creating a better life for yourself and the less fortunate.

9. RESOLVE ANY MISSING DOCUMENTS

Not having the necessary documents can incur a few snags, but nothing you cannot handle. If you happen to be missing any documents, the best thing to do is try to check in with your local DMV about cars, boats, RV’s, and any other vehicle applicable. If a charity has a dealers license, that can be very helpful, you can also ask if they will reimburse any fees.

STATE DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES (DMV)

First, check with your state Department of Motor Vehicles (or whichever agency overlooks boat sales) to determine what documentation you need to provide the buyer. Most agencies will have a checklist on their website available.

BILL OF SALE (BOL)

The bill of sale must include a description and hull number, date of purchase, price, and both buyer and seller signatures. Generally the seller creates this as a simple document, but there are automobile templates available online that can be easily tailored for boats.

BOAT TITLES

Titles are issued by state, and a new one is created every time a boat is transferred ownership. If you have an outstanding loan on your boat, the title will include that information and the buyer will not be able to register the boat until the loan is cleared. Verify with your lienholder to see what documentation will be provided and how much lead time is needed; you may need to pay off the loan first.

OTHER DOCUMENTS

Warranty cards, maintenance records, and any other paperwork should also be submitted at the final sale. And once the deal is complete, ensure you terminate your insurance policy. Some insurance companies will allow you to date the cancellation back to the actual day of sale, even if you cancel a few days after the sale

HAVE A BOAT TRAILER?

If the boat is on a trailer, your state might need require additional documents. You may also have to handle the registration separately. Again, the state agency regulating boat sales should have a checklist with this information available. With a little planning and organization, submitting documentation to finalize a boat sale is only slightly more than a formality. Best of all, it is the last step before handing the boat over

PAPERWORK CHECKLIST

  • 1. Bill of Sale
  • 3. Proof of loan payoff
  • 4. Trailer registration
  • 5. Trailer title

Boat Registrations in USA - How And Where To Register Your Boat

How and where to register your boat varies greatly by state. Here is a state-by-state guide. How and where to register your boat varies greatly by state. In general, dealers will usually deal with registering a new boat, while it will be up to you to register a boat you purchased from a previous owner. Unlike cars, not every state's Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) overlooks boats. It may be a states park, tax commission, natural resources, or fisheries and wildlife department that supervises boat registration. If you are purchasing a new boat through a dealer, they will usually complete the registration process for you upon purchase. Boat registration in some states may be covered by the DMV, but that may not always be the case. In fact, the agency handling boat registration varies from state to state.

Thinking of Donating Your Boat This Year?

Here’s why doing it now can be a better deal for you.

This BoatUS member from Maryland donated his 2002, 32-foot powerboat to the BoatUS Foundation for Boating Safety and Clean Water.

ANNAPOLIS, Md., May 25, 2023 – Thinking of donating your boat? If you’re looking to get a break on next year’s tax bill by donating your boat this year, you may not want to wait too long. That’s because the Internal Revenue Service bases the value of the charitable deduction on the actual selling price of the donated boat. Selling now, at peak season of demand, could potentially mean a greater benefit for the former boat owner.

“Donating your boat now aligns a charity’s interests with your own – they get the most value from the donation to run programs or operations, and more you stand to gain in tax benefits in the form of a tax deduction,” said BoatUS Foundation for Boating Safety and Clean Water Boat Donation Program manager Ted Sensenbrenner. “More boats are sold now than at any time of year. If you wait to donate in late fall, it is less of a seller’s market. Additionally, if the boat doesn’t get sold until 2024, you delay any potential tax benefit.”

The BoatUS Foundation’s Boat Donation Program , unlike other charities that accept boats, may offer additional benefits to those looking to donate as it actively uses some donated boats for training purposes. In some cases, donated vessels − typically single engine center-console types − are needed for Foundation On-Water Training programs. With these boats, the donor may use the surveyed value at the time of donation for tax purposes, and the write-off may be taken immediately.

For boats donated but to be sold, the Foundation’s program uses a partner broker to advertise the boat to help realize its highest value. The nonprofit also ensures that the donation process is hassle-free, from picking up the boat to handling the paperwork.

If you have a boat in good or better condition that you are considering to donate, go to BoatUS.org/Donate/Boat-Donation . Also available are helpful IRS links, including the IRS brochure “A Donor’s Guide to Vehicle Donation,” IRS Publication 526 “Charitable Donations,” and IRS rules for determining maximum deductions for charitable contributions. Always consult a tax professional regarding boat donations.

A few words from our donors

Why donate a boat with boats with causes .

  • Free Boat Towing Anywhere in the United States!
  • Tax Benefits usually outweigh trying to sell the boat yourself
  • No Middleman! Donate Directly to our 501c3 charity! All Proceeds benefit those in need!
  • We accept most boat donations offered, running or not!

When you donate boats to Boats with Causes you are helping yourself as well as many people throughout the United States. You will receive a generous Tax write off and Boats with Causes will do all of the work . Our team of volunteers will pick up your boat donation anywhere in the United States even if you no longer have a title. Plus since we are the actual charity , you get to feel confident your donation is going directly to those that need it most rather than some middleman who takes up to 80% of the profits themselves before giving any to charity.

Having trouble trying to sell your boat by yourself? One of the main reasons people decide to donate their boat with us is because they are tired of trying to sell the boat themselves. As we all know, BOAT stands for “Break” “Out” “Another” Thousand” and any boat owner know this is true. Unless you have a storage facility on your property, you have to pay to have the boat stored during every season, whether you use it or not.

With rising gas prices, many are starting to not even use their boats for recreational activities which means the boat just sits there and starts to lose value. The next step is trying to sell the boat which means more money out of your pocket and wasted time. Placing expensive classified ads to sell your used boat and then getting phone calls at midnight and speaking with dreamers just causes more frustration than is deserved. Donating is extremely fast and simple with us. Call toll free (888) 228-7320 to get started today.

You will receive a temporary receipt from the towing company at the time of the pickup. It will have all your boat information along with our name and phone number. You just have to notify us once the boat gets towed and we will mail you the tax deductible receipt along with the hotel voucher.

Do I have to be home when you pick up my boat?

No! Just clean the boat of any personal belongings and leave the keys and title in the glove box.

Who will pick up my boat donation?

Kars4kids has a network of resellers who work hard to get you the most value for your boat. You will be contacted by a reseller to arrange a time of pickup that is convenient for you, free of charge.

Do I need a title to donate a boat?

Yes. When you donate a boat, we need the title. We may be able to assist you in replacing it.

What do I need to know about signing my title?

When signing your title, please make certain that you print and sign your name as the "Seller" in EXACTLY the way it appears on the face of the title.

Tax Deduction

How much will i get as a deduction for my used boat.

You will receive a tax deduction for the amount the boat sells for. If the boat sells for under $500, you will receive the value of the boat up to $500. Kars4kids is a classified 501(c)(3) charity organization. You can check with your tax advisor or accountant to determine the amount of your benefit. The deduction is of value only if the donor itemizes his or her deductions. For a more detailed overview the IRS publishes a Donors Guide to Vehicle Donation.

Will I receive a seperate tax deduction for the trailer?

No. You will receive one tax-deductible receipt for your trailer and boat donation.

Broad Reach Canada

Come Sail with Us this Summer

📣  Our Mission: To engage under-represented youth in the development of knowledge, skills and social belonging through sailing.

Broad Reach’s Annual General Meeting will be held on  Tuesday, May 7th at 6:30pm  online over Google Meet. All may attend but you must be a member in good standing to vote.

Celebrating 25 years of impact.

Inspiring youth through sailing since 1998.

Canada’s youth face a host of grim obstacles. None more-so than potentially vulnerable young people like newcomers, kids from disadvantaged families, and oppressed minorities.

The marine employment sector and sailing community have traditionally been inaccessible to youth of low socio-economic status. Broad Reach Canada is committed to fostering greater equity and inclusion within these communities, and positively influencing the personal growth of youth from various backgrounds.

Spark Confidence

Use the transformative power of sail to spark confidence in the next generation of leaders — across Canada and from vulnerable and at-risk backgrounds.

Workforce Development

Equip kids with the skills and knowledge to get good jobs.

Getting Along

Being a crew-member aboard a sailing ship is the ultimate training to become a collaborative team player

Boats are Cool

Seriously. They've got these huge sails and they go fast when the wind blows. This speaks to kids.
