Makruzz has Two decks with passenger capacity of 280. It presents three classes for its guests – 208 seats in Premium, 64 Seats in Deluxe and 8 Seats in Royal. For the comfort of the passengers the vessel is fully air conditioned. It can attain maximum speed of 32 Nauticle miles but will be cruised at approximately 22-24 nauticle miles and is expected to cover the distance between Port Blair and Havelock Island in 90 Minutes

Aashi  (Not Operational) - Aashi cruise is the latest of all the cruises and is pretty good. The cruise operates from Port Blair to Havelock Island and the sailing time is at 6:30 AM. Aashi cruise has Deluxe and Luxury classes. Aashi vessel has stopped all its operations in Andaman Islands as of 2023.

Government ferry sails from Port Blair to Havelock Island on a regular basis. Earlier this ferry used to sail in the morning and after from Port Blair. However, lately only one sailing of Government ferry happens from Port Blair to Havelock. There is no online booking of Government ferry and you need to stand in a queue and book the tickets as per availability on the given date. Step 1 - Firstly you need to select a date on which you need to book a ferry from Port Blair to Havelock Island. If you arrive early in the morning then you can check all the ferry schedules from Port Blair to Havelock Island at Online Ferry Booking in Andaman Islands . Please note that as per current guidelines by the administration you are required to go through an RTPCR test after you arrive in Andaman Islands. So if suppose your travel date from Port Blair to Havelock Island is on 20-October-2021 then make sure you filter the date to the date of travel. Post this you can click on the " Search " button. Step 3 - After you click on the search button and if no results are found in the data records it means either the ferry service on those dates is currently not open or the ferry is sold out for those dates. Andaman Tourism Opens: The Andaman & Nicobar administration has announced that all tourist spots in the South Andaman district will be opened for tourism activities with immediate effect 8 Feb 2022.

A negative RT PCR report has to be presented by all passengers on arrival.

What is the advisory to travel to North & Middle Andaman District?

The tourists are allowed to visit Baratang/North & Middle Andaman on production of double dose covid certificate/ All other passengers viz. unvaccinated and partially vaccinated passengers (those who have taken only 1S1 dose of COVID vaccine) shall have to produce RT-PCR negative test report

• All asymptomatic fully vaccinated persons coming to these islands from mainland are  exempted  from the requirement of carrying RT-PCR negative test report,irrespective of the type of vaccine received and country of origin. Such fullyvaccinated individuals shall produce the final vaccination certificate at the origin airport ,  sea port in the mainland and at Port Blair Airport / sea port.
• Alt asymptomatic children below 5 years of age are exempted from carrying RT-PCR negative test report and further RT-PCR testing at Port Blair Airport.
• All other passengers viz. unvaccinated and partially vaccinated passengers (those who have taken only 1S1 dose of COVID vaccine) shall have to produce RT-PCR negative test report to travel to Port Blair from the mainland, as is the practice now. Such an RT-PCR test should have been taken within 48 hours prior to commencement of journey from the origin airport connecting Port Blair. Such passengers will also have to undergo additional RT-PCR test on arrival at Port Blair. Such passengers shall remain in self-quarantine till the arrival of the test report.
• If a passenger on arrival is tested positive then, the prescribed quarantine protocol is to be followed.
• All Airlines shall ensure strict compliance of this order and observance of COVID Appropriate Behaviour. Any non-compliance shall invite action under Disaster Management Act and other applicable laws. 

General Guidelines defined for traveling to Andaman Islands during COVID :

• The Tourism Activities are permitted only in South Andaman & North & Middle Andaman District except Nicobar District.
• Persons above 65 years of age, persons with home co-morbidities, pregnant women and children below the age of 10 years advised not to travel for tourism purposes.
• Tourists/Visitors who are at higher risk due to some medical history are advised to take extra precautions.
• Tourists/visitors shall minimize contact with other staff and visitors as far as possible and zero contact policy should be followed at all tourist destinations.
• All tourists/visitors shall be briefed by the hotel concerned about do’s & don’ts to be mandatorily followed during their stay and movements.
• While travelling tourists/visitors should wear a face mask and carry their own sanitizer and wet wipes for personal use.
• At all tourist destinations, staff must wear face masks and wash/sanitize hands regularly while performing their duties.
• Arogya Setu App shall be mandatory for all incoming tourists/visitors.
• Respiratory etiquettes to be strictly followed. This involves strict practice of covering one’s mouth and nose while coughing/sneezing with a tissue handkerchief/flexed elbow and disposing off used tissues properly after use.
• The tourists/visitors on arrival at Port Blair airport have to undergo mandatory Covid-19 screening with RTPCR test free of cost. Thereafter the tourists/ visitors are allowed to move to their respective hotels. However, they will have to be under quarantine at Port Blair in their hotel rooms until the result of RTPCR tests are received. In case of RTPCR positive test results, the tourists/visitors shall remain in institutional quarantine in hotels notified by the Hoteliers Association in consent with the A&%N Administration, on rate as specified or to the designated hospital/ Covid 19 care centre on case to case basis.

What are the guidelines for testing for tourists coming to Andaman after August 03 2021?

On arrival at Port Blair : 1. The tourists need to carry COVID-19 negative test report from mainland based 1CMR approved lab using Reverse Transcriptase-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR). However, the sample for RTPCR test should have been taken within 48 hours prior to starting the journey from the origin station. (For e.g. if the tourist takes a flight from Delhi at 0600 hrs. on 1st September, 2021, the sample for RTPCR test should have been taken not before 0600 hrs. on 30th August, 2021). 2. The tourists/visitors on arrival at Port Blair airport have to undergo mandatory Covid-19 screening with RTPCR test free of cost. Thereafter the tourists/visitors are allowed to move to their respective hotels. However, they will have to be under quarantine at Port Blair in their hotel rooms until the result of RTPCR tests are received. In case of RTPCR positive test results, the tourists/visitors shall remain in institutional quarantine in hotels notified by the Hoteliers Association in consent with the A&N Administration, on rates as specified or to the designated hospital/ Covid-19 care centre on case-to-case basis.

3. Tourists may also have to undergo random Rapid Antigen Test conducted from time to time on payment basis as prescribed by A8N Administration.

What if the tourists test positive after arriving at the Andaman Islands?

If the tourists tests positive during their stay in the Islands, he/she will need to undergo institutional isolation as per existing health protocols. The cost of such isolation for govt. facility will be paid by the tourists as fixed by the administration from time to time. If the patient wants to stay at hotels, he/she can stay in the hotels if all the conditions below are met: a) Patients are not symptomatic and not more than 60 years old. b) Request/ undertaking is made by patient in writing. c)lf allowed by doctors. Hotels will make necessary arrangements to designate a part of their rooms for institutional isolation for this purpose.

• Regular flights to Port Blair (the capital of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands) are operational now.
• There are direct flights from Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, and Delhi.
• Public transports like cabs, taxis, and bus services are also functional.

Travellers should carefully follow social distancing norms and wear masks as well. Also, before making any booking, they should refer to the latest travel news on the government website of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Makruzz 1 is the first cruise introduced by the M.V. Makruzz Company. It is a closed deck cruise with comfortable seating and good service. It is a high-speed catamaran and is first of its kind in Andamans.  The seating capacity is about 250 seats divided into 3 categories – Economy, Deluxe, and Luxury/Royal. Each category has different experiences to offer the passengers in terms of seating space, seats, services, and hospitality. The view gets better at each deck and that one of the major reasons for passengers to opt for the higher categories. 

The cruise is fully air-conditioned and the seats are comfortable with adequate legroom space. Seating arrangement differs in each category and a huge transparent glass runs through the entire cruise to provide the customers with views of the sea.  The cruise has televisions, restrooms, and an in-board pantry. A music system is available for entertainment purposes. The restrooms are clean and comfortable. The pantry is well stocked with snacks and beverages. 

Makruzz 1 sails from Port Blair-Havelock-Neil-Port Blair. It departs from Haddo Wharf Jetty. The journey takes about 90 minutes from Port Blair to the destination on a one-way trip. 

Makruzz has the option of online & advance booking of ferry tickets but the only drawback is that it does not allow you to choose the seats as per your preference. It follows the first-come-first-serve-basis of seating and allots seats according to the booking patterns.  We recommend you to choose Makruzz 1 for at least one trip to experience riding on the first-ever private cruise that sailed in Andamans.

Can I book Govt Ferry Online?

PGovt Ferry ticket is not made available online in any of the Govt run portals. Govt Ferry tickets is available only at Marine Jetty Ticketing Counter.Booking is avail only 3 day prior departure and tickets for tourist are limited quota as majority of the tickets are reserved for locals.

Where is the Boarding Point?

Haddo Jetty in Port Blair city is the boarding point for all Private ferry operating for Havelock and neil islands.haddo Jetty is about 3-5 km from airport.

Boarding Procedure?

On reaching haddo jetty gate CISF personnel will check your ticket and valid ID proof and allow entry .upon entry head to check in counter of the respective Private ferry. After Check in wait in the passenger waiting until called for boarding.

How to travel from Havelock to Port Blair?

• Havelock to Port Blair Distance- The distance between Port Blair and Havelock is 56 NM and can be covered only by ferries. There is no road or bridge that connects these islands. Instead, you have to take the ferry from Havelock to Port Blair.
• Havelock to Port Blair Time Taken- The total distance is covered in around 90 minutes. Because of a speedy journey, some people feel seasick so make sure to take the precautions for a stress-free journey.
• Havelock to Port Blair Ferry (Ferry Operators) – There are various private ferry operators like Makruzz, Nautika (previously, Sealink ), Green Ocean, and ITT Majestic that run in Andaman.
• First Ferry from Havelock to Port Blair- The earliest ferry from Havelock to Port Blair is Makruzz ferry and starts at 9 am.

4 Private Ferry Operators operating in the Andamans

 Initiated in 2009, Makruzz is the passenger servicing arm of MAK Logistics. Been in service for 15 years now, Makruzz makes the oldest private ferry in the Andamans. The primary intent behind this pioneering initiative was to improve the accessibility to tourist worthy destinations like Havelock and Neil. Makruzz has two decks and four categories of seats: Premium, Premium +, Deluxe, and Royal. Premium and Premium + seats are available on the lower deck with the Premium + seats having a window view. The upper deck accommodates the Deluxe and Royal seats with the royal class having eight pushback seats in a private cabin.

Nautika (Previously, Sealink)

NAUTIKA has been one of the reputed private ferries since 2022. New and fast, with two completely air-conditioned decks she accommodates 285 passengers in comfort and style. Nautika ferry is at par with international speed standards of 30 knots churning forth from her stern. NAUTIKA ferry is furnished with twin upper and lower decks, further classed into Royal and Luxury. It also has comfortable seating, decent interiors and provides entertainment facilities like live music and dance for the passengers.

Green Ocean

 The only private ferry to offer an open deck, Green Ocean Cruise has 2 vessels. Green Ocean 1 offers seating and a guest movement area, for guests to be able to get some fresh air. Green Ocean 2 is a fully air-conditioned ferry with no open deck area. Green Ocean 1 has a total of 316 seats divided into 3 categories namely Deluxe, Luxury, and Royal. It also has an open-air cafeteria and an in-built music entertainment system.

ITT Majestic

Focused on comfortable, hassle- free and luxurious customer services, ITT Majestic is a high-speed, fully air-conditioned catamaran ferry. ITT Majestic has 200 seats divided into two categories: Silver and Majesty. The silver category is a little crowded but offers a good view of the sea- from both the front and the side. Majestic category on the other hand, has an extra legroom, is more premium and offers refreshments onboard.

Andaman Government Ferry Services

Government ferries from Havelock to Port Blair are operated by the Directorate of Shipping Services (DSS). The department primarily operates for the convenience of local islanders. Since this is the only way of transportation for the islanders, tickets are highly subsidized for them. Residents also have a decent local knowledge which makes using government ferries convenient for them. 

Though slightly cheaper in comparison to the private ferries, government Ferry booking is not available on our platform as we think that from a tourist’s point of view, it’s not the most feasible way. However they’re available everyday and depart from Phoenix Bay Jetty.

Why do we recommend Private ferries over Government ferries?

As mentioned earlier, we as localities feel that for a more relaxed and hassle-free holiday experience, it’s advisable to opt for private ferries which primarily work for the travellers.The government ones are designed mainly for local transportation and may not be the ideal choice for tourists. Go2Andaman does not facilitate bookings for government ferry tickets. If you plan to use them, tickets can be purchased at the offline counters and offices. Keep in mind that ticket queues tend to form early in the morning, and if you find yourself at the back of the line, there’s a chance that seats may be occupied by the time your turn arrives. Moreover, having only limited seats, the tickets on government ferries are booked months in advance, sometimes the waiting is 4-6 months.

Baggage- You can take as much baggage as you like for free without making a reservation. Baggage items include briefcases, laptops, rucksacks, trolley bags or suitcases. Your Journey in a Nutshell

• Upon successfully booking your tickets online, you will receive an email requesting the names, ages, and genders of all passengers.
• Once you provide these details, your confirmed ticket will be sent to you via email. You can print these or carry a soft copy on your device.
• Arrive at the Havelock jetty at least one hour before your scheduled departure time. 
• Complete the check-in process for your luggage and proceed to your assigned seats.
• Set sail to Port Blair, and enjoy the beautiful views of the sea. Snacks will be served on board.
• Reach Port Blair jetty in 90 minutes.
• Make sure to be present at the jetty at least 1 hour before the ferry departure time for a seamless boarding experience. 
• Book your ferries in the sequence of your travel. An example: if you are going from Port Blair to Havelock to Neil & then back to Port Blair, book your ferry for Port Blair to Havelock first, then Havelock to Neil & then Neil to Port Blair.

Frequently Asked Questions – FAQ’s

On most ferries, an infant above the age of 1 year is charged on a full-charge basis and an infant below the age of 1 year can travel free of cost. On some ferries, an infant below the age of 1 year is charged a small fee. This changes from operator-to-operator. 

It is mandatory to carry a print-out of your ferry tickets. A soft copy or email confirmation is not valid to board the ferry. Another important document to carry is your valid ID Card/ Passport. 

We recommend that you reach the jetty at-least 45 mins prior to the departing time so you have sufficient time for boarding. If travelling with children or senior citizens, 1 hour prior would be ideal. The boarding gates close 30 mins before departure.

• Once you reach the jetty gates, your tickets are checked after which you are allowed to enter the jetty
• Then you get your luggage scanned, pick up your luggage & start walking towards your ferry
• You then drop off your bags at the back side of ferry in the luggage store compartment
• After that you can board the ferry and take your seats.
• Both Makruzz and Green Ocean Ferries have cafes where you can buy hot and cold beverages, snacks and mineral water.
• There are lavatories for use for both men and women.
• If you have booked Royal class seats,  refreshments would be provided on your seats. If you have booked Premium or Deluxe class seats then you would need to buy your refreshments from the canteen on the ferry.
• It is mandatory to carry a valid ID proof for all the passengers.
• If you are a non-Indian you will need to carry a vaild passport.
