CATANA GROUP enjoys the benefit of nearly 40 years of experience in the design and manufacture of CATANA CATAMARANS and BALI CATAMARANS. The men and women of CATANA GROUP all share the same passion for the sea, for technology at the service of boating, and for the professions of the boatbuilding world. The passion for top-of-the-range yachting is the driving force behind the group, which, combined with know-how and a constant strive for quality, has led to the creation of an unrivalled industrial tool at the service of innovation.

A SOLID GROUP

CATANA GROUP is a group totally focused on the manufacture and sale of catamarans. With 4 production sites (Three in France, one in Tunisia and one in Portugal) as well as a service base, the Group today employs more than 1,300 people, all of whom are united around the company's project. With strong growth since 2014, and constantly seeking innovative and eco-responsible concepts, CATANA GROUP has one of the best profitability rates in its sector and a very solid financial structure.

In 2003, Olivier Poncin sensed the demand for catamaran boats and took an interest in the legendary Catana brand, which went on to buy. A few years later, he realised that the “blue water” catamaran market was too small and did not provide the desired financial visibility. The decision was taken to attack the most significant part of the sailing multihull market, in the face of significant and legitimate competition. To meet the challenge, Olivier Poncin's solution was to innovate in an audacious manner. He imagined disruptive concepts that revolutionised the codes of sailing: a common space between the saloon and the aft cockpit, a tilting door and an integrated foredeck. In September 2014, the first BALI CATAMARAN was launched, the BALI 4.5, followed just a few weeks later by the BALI 4.3. Today, the Catana-BALI Catamarans shipyard builds over 300 boats a year. The gamble has paid off, the concept has gained worldwide legitimacy and meets the needs of a very large section of the clientele.

BALI CATAMARANS

BALI Catamarans offers an innovative, unique concept that has revolutionised the world of catamarans. Thanks to the pivoting aft door and the rigid foredeck platform, BALI Catamarans embody openness: openness to life, openness to the four elements and the five senses. The large windows and the door to the forward cockpit offer a natural 360° panorama. Space is given utmost importance at BALI Catamarans: the forward cockpit and the increased area (achieved by the BALI door) are key assets that distinguish BALI among all the players in the market. At a glance, a BALI is instantly recognisable among its peers.

YOT POWER CATAMARANS

The YOT brand is aimed at anyone and everyone looking for fun at sea. As a pure-player in the catamaran market, the Catana Group, with a range that is essentially sailing, had to offer power boats. And now we’ve done it. The new YOT power catamaran brand brings a breath of fresh air to the yacht sector. YOT meets the needs of novices and experienced enthusiasts alike and can be used for any purpose: whether it’s a day out or a romantic weekend, for a sporty or festive trip, as a couple or with friends. YOT has a style, a modern and trendy design, imagined for living intensely. YOTs are comfortable, stable and safe. Seaworthy, agile and powerful, their twin-hull design ensures excellent performance and comfortable passage through the water. Lively and fun, they combine power with reasonable fuel consumption.  

THE PRODUCTION SITES

Today, Catana Group counts 1,300 employees working on four boat production sites based in Canet-en-Roussillon in the South of France, the company's historic headquarters; in Marans, near La Rochelle on the Atlantic coast; and in El Haouaria (Cap Bon, Tunisia) and in Portugal. The Group is also equipped with an industrial joinery shop in Rivesaltes (on the Mediterranean coast), which allows the Group to be fully self-sufficient in the manufacture of its furniture. The Group also has a “Services” base, Port Pin Rolland, located in the marina at Saint Mandrier, near Toulon, also in the South of France.

Boat Discontinued

Catana Catamarans marks a whole new era in the design of the new Catana 70. One of the major changes is that the mast is located much further aft than on most catamarans which, according to the designers, improves performance and considerably reduces pitching. Revolutionary curved daggerboards give a hydrofoil effect. It benefits also from good hull length and increased power, creating an ultra-performance cruising catamaran. The interior and exterior living areas are designed with continuous horizontal and fluent lines to merge inside/outside living spaces into one for more spaciousness and improved safety.

We are selling our 1997 owners version Catana 44 catamaran which has been our family home for the last year. Designed by Lock Crowther and custom built at the French Catana yard, she is the only Catana with a factory-built, protected inside third helm station. She is a well built, high performance, ocean proven vessel. Her daggerboard design allows for greater performance when sailing upwind, and reduced drag when cruising downwind. An additional benefit of her shallow draft is the ability to drop anchor close to shore or navigate shallow cuts. She comes complete with all stores, full complement of tools, spares, and misc dive gear. She is a very comfortable live aboard with a roomy, well thought out galley-up design handy to the big cockpit table. The master cabin (port) and two guest cabins (starboard) have queen beds, with a third twin sized cabin in the starboard forepeak for extra crew or guests. The two heads are electric and each have a dedicated shower. Her solar array provides plenty of power. Curtiseas has never been chartered and has been carefully maintained. She is ready to continue cruising by just moving aboard. She is US registered and currently in the Bahamas heading to the US East Coast (Chesapeake Bay).

The hull and deck were vacuum bagged using polyester isopthalic resin cored with closed cell foam with unidirectional cloth for outer laminate and anti-osmosis epoxy resin below the waterline. The hulls were reinforced with Twaron inner laminate.

Discerning and knowledgeable multihull sailors are well aware that the Catana design concept encompasses quality and strength of construction, comfortable and ergonomic accommodations and fast, seaworthy designs capable of long distance blue water cruising in ease.

Construction.

• Hulls are solid glass below the waterline and foam core above.
• The decks are balsa cored for strength and light weight.
• The fiberglass of the entire boat has an incorporated layer of Twaron (kevlar woven cloth) for extra strength.
• The 3rd, inside helm station, was designed and built at the Catana factory in France, which is linked to the rudders via a hydraulic ram.
• Outside steering stations are Whitlock geared, linked with an under-deck rigid cross bar.
• Crash compartments are located forward in both hulls.

Accommodations

• Port hull: owners cabin with queen bed, desk, electric head, and dedicated shower.
• Port aft: full-size insulated door into stand-up engine compartment.
• Starboard hull: two cabins with queen beds, one electric head, and dedicated shower.
• Starboard aft: full-size door into engine compartment.
• Good ventilation in cabins, heads, and showers with port lights and hatches.
• Large forward storage areas in each hull. Starboard forepeak was converted into a single bunk, but can be easily reverted back to a storage compartment.
• Large food prep island/dining table with salon seating for six and room for four more chairs when fully opened.
• Table base has storage for pots, pans, storage containers, etc.
• Each salon seat has generous storage below.
• 4 opening hatches in the main salon panoramic windows.
• Mesh sunscreens on salon windows.
• Chart table and desk on starboard side of salon.
• Spacious galley with dual sink that has storage below and adjacent to the sink. Corian countertops installed (2024).
• Three burner Eno propane stove with oven/broiler (2023).
• 8 cubic feet refrigerator with counter top above.

• Teak/Holley laminate floors in good condition throughout.

• Hulls have been blister protected with Interprotect 2000 below waterline.

Sails & Rigging

• Main shrouds replaced (2023) and last rigging inspection was February of 2024. Previously, all standing rigging was replaced in 2012 and was professionally inspected at least twice yearly since then.
• The rig has a three-spreader mast with aft-swept shrouds and intermediate jumpers.
• Main chain plates replaced (2020).
• The Profurl genoa furler has new bearings and forestay (2020).
• Hydranet, 6 batten, 3 reef main w/newer stack-pack and 10oz.
• Hydranet, triradial 150 Genoa.
