Marks and spencer sale.

Marks and Spencer is a British multinational retailer operating under the M&S brand. It is one marks and spencer sale of the largest clothing retailers in the world and the largest selling clothing retailer in the United Kingdom. With over 700 stores located throughout the UK, Marks & Spencer offers a wide range of products including clothing, homewares, beauty products and electrical goods.

Marks & Spencer began as a small family run drapery business in Leeds in 1884. It was founded by Michael Marks and Thomas Spencer, who were both Jewish immigrants from Germany. The company expanded rapidly during the early 20th century by opening new stores across Britain and Ireland. By 1926 Marks & Spencer had opened 100 stores across Britain and Ireland but then suffered a decline between the 1930s and 1940s due to competition from Woolworth’s & John Lewis. In 1964 M&S acquired an exclusive licence to sell Barbizon products which allowed them to expand their clothing range with ready-to-wear as well as lingerie lines for women and children’s clothes for girls aged 2–14 years old; this proved popular with customers who could now buy clothes that fit correctly without having to alter them at home first!

Cardiff Yacht Club is a thriving yacht club that was originally founded in Cardiff in 1900. Today, the club is centrally located on the edge of Cardiff Bay, overlooking the Wetlands Nature Reserve, with panoramic views over the Bay and the Bristol Channel beyond.

We have about 300 yachts and motorboats permanently moored on either our trot moorings or pontoons in the freshwater bay. There are over 50 dinghies in the club and we have a fully equiped boat yard with 2 boat hoists.

Cardiff Yacht Club is situated on the Hamadryad Peninsula. These facilities are for the benefit of members or those affiliated through the RYA and CYC by prior arrangement only.

The Ranie Buoy (PORT HAND BUOY) marks the extremity of the rocks and sand spit of Lavernock Point. The south Cardiff cardinal buoy makes the southern extremity of the Cardiff Grounds. From a position between the two buoys make a course for the Outer Wrach Buoy (West Cardinal Buoy). Follow the Wrach Channel and Buoys into the Cardiff Bay Outer Harbour.

cardiff yacht club moorings

When approaching from the South or West, leave the Ranie Buoy (FL(2)R.5s) to PORT and the SOUTH CARDIFF (FLQ(6)+LFL.15s) to STARBOARD. Steer a course for the OUTER WRACH BUOY (FLQ(6)+LFL.15s). You will pick up the SECTOR LIGHTS for the WRACH CHANNEL (oc 10s WRG). Stay in the white sector until you pick up the Buoyed channel for the CARDIFF BAY OUTER HARBOUR and the sector light (LFI.WRG5s). Note: Vessels coming from Kings Road (Avonmouth) are advised to use the SOUTH/WEST APPROACH. It is important that you keep a careful watch for large vessels coming from Cardiff Docks as they are severely constrained by their draught.

On approach to Cardiff Bay you should contact Barrage Control on VHF 18 to request a lock in. They will advise you of the next available lock and give the instruction to enter the outer harbour.

  • Inbound locks run quarter past and quarter to the hour
  • Outbound locks run on the hour and half hour
  • Please be sure to observe the light signals displayed

  • When the 3 vertical red lights are extinguished either side of the bridge you may proceed.
  • The air draft of the closed bridge is approx 4.5m please check the notices displayed either side of the bridge before you proceed.
  • Orange lights are illuminated under the lifting span at night to confirm that it is closed.
  • When the bridge is being prepared to open or close, the lights either side will show fixed red- no vessels are to proceed.

7m Sail Boat - where in Cardiff Bay. Choice of two yacht clubs, which is best? Cardiff Marina seems quite a bit cheaper than Penarth Marina but you might get put behind the foot bridge - how much hassle is this. Any locals have an opinion. Pontoons with electric would be nice for a couple of months due to having young children and a place where they don't mind me doing some DIY work on the hard in the winter. Come March, I hope to be in a much better position to decide what to do next. Join one of the clubs and put her on a mooring?

I would suggest visiting both clubs and having a chat before making your mind up. I think CYC is a bit cheaper than CBYC but CBYC has a better pontoon system, about a third of the pontoons have electricity. Personally I wouldn't pay marina fees when you could be in a club . I have sent you a private message.

Cardiff Yacht Club operates on a one-off fee for your berth (plus a £60pa maint. fee) +membership fees so in the long run is cheaper - however the pontoons are versadock, and you moor mediteranian style against them, with moorings for your bow. There is no electricity or water on the pontoon system. Also, there is no fuel available in the club. Cardiff Bay Yacht Club is an annual marina fee +membership fees, but you moor normally (alongside) a proper pontoon berth. (which is also more sheltered as you are up-river) All the pontoons have water, though only A-E have electricity. CBYC has it's own deisel fuel. There is currently a 12 month wait for berths (according to website). Penarth Marina oviously has annual marina fees, and you have a proper marina berth (as CBYC) though you pay more per year (even inc. CBYC membership fees). All pontoons have water & electricity. There is diesel & petrol available. Cardiff Marina also has annual marina fees, and costs similar to CBYC's total, and again you have a proper marina berth. Water and electricity to all berths. deisel is available. You may be berthed up-river of pont-y-werin bridge. This isn't a problem though as you just radio barrage control to lift it (though they'll only lift it twice an hour during the day, and once an hour at night) Out of the two yacht clubs, CBYC has a better pontoon system, and only CBYC has electricity, though CYC is cheaper. Out of the marinas, Cardiff Marina is cheaper (similar to CBYC), though Penarth Marina is a bit quicker to get out of (due to it's position)

Cardiff Yatch Club does have water on C pontoon. I joined about 5 years ago. An incredibly frendly place. If refurbishing a boat there is power and Water in the yard.

I'm curious as to why so many people need 230v? What do you use that the boat system can't provide?

its a small boat with an outboard. Batteries are charged from a solar panel. British weather tends to be cloudy.

Although a little late. I would also ask about Security. As don't think some are Manned 24/7.

Cardiff Bay Yacht Club has a waiting list for pontoon moorings but it usually is less than 12 months. Its more expensive than Cardiff Yacht Club which in turn is a bit more like a traditional sailing club. Not to say that CBYC is snooty or anything like, but it has become more of a marina with a club attached. Lots of big power boats with absentee owners. So if you are the sort of individual who likes joining in a clubs social life, maybe CYC is a better bet. Both clubs allow you to work on your boat on the hard but in the case of CBYC it isnt cheap after the first month because onshore space is short supply. Boatyard facilities are excellent with good professional staff handling lift outs and launches. Cant comment on the CYC facilities - not a member there. The CYC pontoons are third rate IMO requiring you to pick up a stern line and moor bow to before leaping over your pullpit onto pontoons with all the rigidity of my stomach muscles. Sorry but I would class them as cheap and nasty. How far are you from Cardiff and in what direction? If you are central, northern or to the east then consider Newport Uskmouth SC. This is a trad sailing club with excellent facilities and yard space to do anything you want. Moorings come free with a membership that is just £200 or so pa. http://http://www.nusc.co.uk/ . No pontoons just river moorings and therefore no leccy. But the savings on mooring costs would fund several generators each year!

Another recommendation for Cardiff Yacht Club. My annual fees are close to what some marinas would charge every month. No electric and not all slots have a tap nearby but if you need it, go over and pay the visitors rate at CBYC (£10 for 5 nights) and use their visitors facilities for doing maintenance etc. other than that CYC has all you could ever need. Friendly and good atmosphere. It's awesome being able to sail around the bay in flat water no matter what the wind or tides are doing outside, such a great place to have a boat!

Thanks for the replies. I live in Bristol and work in Wiltshire so getting down to the club nights has proven difficult so far. I am currently in Cardiff Marina on winter rates which are not too bad but I will need to decide what I am going to do come April. Still haven't made up my mind. Having young kids (2yr old and a ten month old) is leaning me towards electric, water and a pontoon.

For me would be Penarth Quays Marina. Electrics, Water, Fuel, Chandlers, Restaurant, On/Off Pontoons and 24/7 security also with closed locks at night

If you live in bristol, portishead is a far better option. CYC is the most expensive option for the first year as you have to lodge a few thousand pounds as a deposit to get a pontoon place You will be unlikely to get a pontoon with electric at CBYC, the first few pontoons are full of posh boats. The smaller and rougher your boat the further away you seem to be put. This is obvious from a quick motor up the river. Cardiff marina is your best option in the bay, as I believe there is no extra charge for being in the boatyard. The toilet/showers are pretty crap though If you want to be able to spend a lot of time on board then penarth or portishead marinas have far better facilities.

I wouldn't set foot in the place or anywhere else with only 1 star. They are taking the pi$$. The age concern café in barry is run by a group of unpaid volunteers they do cooked breakfasts and lunches so would have had the same inspection as pier 64. They managed 5 out of 5.

  • 12 Nov 2015

So did the Caf in the Marina, the pikey pub (oystercatcher) up the road, and the Custom House. Agree it's a shocking performance by pier64 and reflects badly, it has certainly changed my opinion of them.

Hi, I am seriously thinking of getting another boat and will be looking to use it mainly off Swansea. There are two ways to go on this as I see it and they would be - 1. Small fast boat to keep at home on the drive and get in and out of the water easily as necessary. Pro's, no costly mooring fee's and flexible fishing. Con's smaller boat will be necessary and the missus wont like it out the front. 2. Larger boat on a mooring/marina. Pro's, missus will be happy its not on the drive, larger boat as wont have to get in and out of the water. Con's, costly mooring fee's/winter storage etc. What would be good in helping me suss out what I am going to go for would be a little local knowledge and experience. The questions I have in my mind are - Are there any slipways around the Swansea area that are easy to access and use with a large estate car....?? Are there any moorings or a marina around Swansea that are not so costly...?? Advice on a small boat would be good also if I go down that route. Thanks very much for any help in advance. Rgds Mac

Hi Mac If you are thinking of mooring on a budget look at the local yacht club mooring prices. In Cardiff yacht club the membership is around £240 and mooring about £280 (for a 30' boat) so a little over £500 overall. The marina in the bay whould charge around £2500 for a year mooring. There is a vast difference in paying £10 a week to having to pay £50 a week, especially in bad weather when you don't get to use it. I'm not sure about Swansea but I suspect you would find a similar situation.

There are a couple of council run slips at the Mumbles, Swansea. One gives access about 2.5 hours either side of HW, the other gives access pretty much the whole tide. The first slip is very wide but is pretty steep & launching with an estate would depend on the weight of boat. The second slip is much narrower but not so steep. My mate launches a Raider 18 on this second slip with a Mondeo to give an idea. An 18ft boat in Swansea Marina is about £1,200 to give you an idea. Small boat choice is really down to budget & what you expect to do with it. headlight

All, thanks very much for some very useful advice so far, much appreciated. Regarding the type of boat, I would be looking to spend between 6 and 10K. Looking for - Good sea craft, easy to launch, fast but economical, cuddy for perhaps an overnight anchored up in close and storage. Rgds Mac

raider for sale on here now at 7.5k thats a bargain. if its the cuddy version it is not sleepable but good for storage. i used to have a raider 18 and now got a baywatch 550 and the baywatch i would say takes a wee bit longer to get on the plane with the same engine. both are stable for fishing and am as pleased with this one as i was with the raider. difference being i paid 5.4k for this and 8.5k for the raider. take into account what comes with the boat as you can spend a small fortune kitting a boat out. good luck anyway!!!

try afan boat club port talbot ,compound n slip around 300 per annum(year) lol cant spell

The raider on here is in the clasified section, is the wheel house ONE AND YOU CAN SLEEP OVERNIGHT ON IT at 7500 and it wont be there long at that price as its an english one ETEC

I actually tried to find the raider for sale before I noticed the year!

I am rejoining Afan boat club again this year. I had a 16ft dory I trailered everywhere from Plymouth to Milford and launched from beach and slip. Thoroughly enjoyed! I used to be a member of Port Eynon Bay boat club, but the beach and slip were very rocky at times, especially after a bit of a blow, don't know what they are like now!!!! Damaged the prop and Keel a few times, got trailer stuck etc. Oxwich has gone very expensive in my opinion. I now have a bigger boat, QS 530, didn't fancy beach launching so needed a slip. Afan has boat storage and a slip for £280 a year, launching around 3hrs each side of high water, with some very good fishing within minutes of hitting the water. Mumbles has Two slips, one is 3hrs each side of high the other usable at all times except on springs, cost last time I used it was £6.50 for launch and car park. As said previously beach launching from Oxwich and Port Eynon. Slip at Lougher for I think £5.00, but very very tidal with strong cross flow. Burry Port harbour has a few slips, but don't know of prices. Hope this helps! ARGH. bit of a waste this reply, just read etec's last post - just goes to show you should read all of the thread before replying!!!!!!!!!!!

The moorings in Dale Bay are either private or commercial and are  licenced annually by the Milford Haven Port Authority and the Crown Estate.   Dale Yacht Club is the Voluntary Control Body.

There are no temporary moorings.

There are 3 VISITOR MOORINGS

Visitors should not pick up any private or commercial  mooring. Only the visitor moorings.

PRIVATE MOORINGS

Two licences must be obtained for Private Moorings.

1. Milford Haven Port Authority  - Private Licence

A Private Licence allows the licence holder to moor a single, named, recreational vessel within the Milford Haven Water way.

Private Licences incur a fee on first application; subsequent annual renewals do not incur a fee.
