• All 5 cabins are located on the lower deck, the Master Cabin is found at the bow while the other 4 cabins are symmetrically divided along both sides of the hull in 2 doubles and 2 twins. 
• On main deck the cockpit presents a wooden dining table and accesses directly to a large salon, day head, interior helm and to a fully equipped galley with side door on port side. Another side door is fitted on the starboard side as well as a full-size glass door and a balcony accessible both from the salon. 
• This 86 Yacht features a private area at the bow with an umbrella and an “al fresco” dining area surrounded by comfy solarium cushions. 
• The Flybridge offers a large seating area completed by a dining table, fully equipped wet bar, helm station and solarium area. Astern instead of the crane, which was removed to create more space, we find a smart solution with two chaise longue chairs and a modern coffee table

AFTER 8 is a 29.23 m Motor Yacht, built in Germany by PR Marine and delivered in 1999. She is the only PR 2900 Senator model.

Her top speed is 26.0 kn, her cruising speed is 23.0 kn, and she boasts a maximum cruising range of 700.0 nm at 24.0 kn, with power coming from two MTU diesel engines. She can accommodate up to 6 guests in 3 staterooms, with 3 crew members waiting on their every need. She has a 6.8 m beam.

She was designed by Mulder Design , who also completed the naval architecture. Mulder Design has designed 62 yachts and created the naval architecture for 70 yachts for yachts above 24 metres.

Her interior was designed by Evan K. Marshall , who has 208 other superyacht interiors designed in the BOAT Pro database - she is built with a Teak deck, a GRP hull, and GRP superstructure.

AFTER 8 is one of 5708 motor yachts in the 24-30m size range, and, compared to similarly sized motor yachts, her cruising speed is 0.79 kn above the average.

Remains of WWII soldier from Alabama accounted for 8 decades after German officer handed over his ID tags

Officials have accounted for the remains of a United States Army soldier from Alabama who was killed during World War II — eight decades after a German officer handed over his identification tags.

U.S. Army Pfc. Noah C. Reeves was reported killed in action on Dec. 6, 1944, after a firefight between his battalion and heavily-armed German forces near the town of Vossenack, Germany,  according to the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA). Reeves, of Moulton, Alabama, was 26 years old when he died.

After the battle in Vossenack, officials said U.S. and German troops called a temporary truce to recover soldiers who had been killed or wounded. A German officer turned in Reeves' identification tags, which suggested that he was among the dead and that German forces had recovered his body. U.S. forces could not collect Reeves' remains before fighting started again. 

The American Graves Registration Command investigated the Hürtgen Forest area, which includes Vossenack, after the end of the war as part of their mission to recover missing U.S. personnel from Europe. They were unable to recover or identify Reeves' remains during those investigations, and the soldier was declared non-recoverable in 1951.

Unidentified remains that had actually been found three years earlier, in 1948, in the Hürtgen Forest turned out to belong to Reeves. The graves registration command recovered the remains during their searches in that area after the war, but they could not scientifically identify them, so the remains were interred in the Ardennes American Cemetery, a military cemetery in Belgium, in 1949. They were given the label X-5770. 

A DPAA historian renewed the search for Reeves' remains in 2021, when officials determined that X-5770 could potentially belong to him. Scientists used a combination of anthropological analysis, circumstantial evidence and multiple types of DNA analyses to test the remains and ultimately identify them as Reeves. His remains were officially accounted for on Sept. 12, 2022. 

A date and location for Reeves' burial had not yet been determined when DPAA announced that he was identified. People interested in family and funeral information can contact the Army Casualty Office by calling 800-892-2490, officials said.

The 29.23m/95'11" motor yacht 'After 8' (ex. Galactica Plus) was built by PR Marine in Germany. Her interior is styled by British designer design house Evan K Marshall and she was completed in 1999. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of Mulder Design and she was last refitted in 2002.

Built with a GRP hull and GRP superstructure, with teak decks, she benefits from a semi-displacement hull to provide exceptional seakeeping and impressive speeds. Powered by twin diesel MTU (16V2000M90) engines, she comfortably cruises at 23 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 26 knots with a range of up to 700 nautical miles from her 12,000 litre fuel tanks at 24 knots. Her low draft of 1.62m/5'4" makes her primed for accessing shallow areas and cruising close to the shorelines. Her water tanks store around 2,400 Litres of fresh water.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Sweden on Thursday formally joined NATO as the 32nd member of the transatlantic military alliance, ending decades of post-World War II neutrality and centuries of broader non-alignment with major powers as security concerns in Europe have spiked following Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine.

President Joe Biden congratulated Sweden on its admission and said it was a sign that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s intervention in Ukraine had united, rather than divided, the alliance.

“When Putin launched his brutal war of aggression against the people of Ukraine, he thought he could weaken Europe and divide NATO,” Biden said in a statement.

“Instead, in May 2022, Sweden and Finland — two of our close partners, with two highly capable militaries — made the historic decision to apply for full NATO membership,” Biden said. ”With the addition of Sweden today, NATO stands more united, determined, and dynamic than ever — now 32 nations strong.”

At a ceremony, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken accepts the “instrument of accession” as Sweden formally joins the NATO alliance.

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson was a guest of honor Thursday evening at Biden’s State of the Union address to Congress, where the president welcomed him to “the strongest military alliance the world has ever seen.”

Earlier Thursday, Kristersson and Secretary of State Antony Blinken presided at a ceremony in which Sweden’s “instrument of accession” to the alliance was officially deposited at the State Department.

“This is a historic moment for Sweden. It’s historic for the alliance. It’s historic for the transatlantic relationship,” Blinken said. “Our NATO alliance is now stronger, larger than it’s ever been.”

“Today is truly a historic day,” Kristersson said. “We are humbled, but we are also proud. We will live up to high expectations from all NATO allies. United we stand. Unity and solidarity will be Sweden’s guiding light.”

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg also described it as “a historic day.”

“Sweden will now take its rightful place at NATO’s table, with an equal say in shaping NATO policies and decisions,” he said in a statement.

The Swedish flag will be raised outside the military organization’s headquarters in Brussels on Monday. Stoltenberg underscored that the Nordic country “now enjoys the protection granted under Article 5, the ultimate guarantee of allies’ freedom and security.”

Article 5 of NATO’s treaty obliges all members to come to the aid of an ally whose territory or security is under threat. It has only been activated once – by the U.S. after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks – and is the collective security guarantee that Sweden has sought since Russia invaded Ukraine.

“Sweden’s accession makes NATO stronger, Sweden safer and the whole alliance more secure,” Stoltenberg said. He added that the move “demonstrates that NATO’s door remains open and that every nation has the right to choose its own path.”

Sweden, along with Finland, which joined NATO last year, both abandoned the long-standing military neutrality that was a hallmark of the Nordic states’ Cold War foreign policy after Russia invaded Ukraine in early 2022.

Biden, in his speech to Congress, stepped up calls for reluctant Republicans to approve stalled military assistance to Ukraine as the war enters its third year.

“If anybody in this room thinks Putin will stop at Ukraine, I assure you he will not,” Biden said. “But Ukraine can stop Putin. Ukraine can stop Putin if we stand with Ukraine and provide the weapons it needs to defend itself.”

Biden and his NATO counterparts have vowed that Ukraine will join NATO one day, too.

Sweden’s membership had been held up due to objections by NATO members Turkey and Hungary. Turkey expressed concern that Sweden was harboring and not taking enough action against Kurdish groups that it regards as terrorists, and Hungary’s populist President Viktor Orban has shown pro-Russian sentiment and not shared the alliance’s determination to support Ukraine.

After months of delay, Turkey ratified Sweden’s admission earlier this year, and Hungary did so this week.
