The popular Women in Music concert series featuring Kenyan artists returns to Nairobi’s National Theater of Kenya on September 16 after a two-year hiatus. Supported by the Federal Foreign Office, the Siemens Foundation and the Goethe Institute, it was held regularly at the Goethe Institute Nairobi since 2016. More than 30 of his musicians have performed so far, including popular artists like Nikita Kering, Atemi, Chemutai Sage, and Mayonde.
This September edition, the concert by Njerae, Akoth Jumadi, Lisa Oduor-Noah and Fena Gitu is supported by the Music In Africa Foundation (MIAF) and its Music in Africa Live (MIALive) project.
The MIALive project was launched in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to support music professionals across the African continent. The series aims to empower female artists by giving them a platform to showcase their unique musical composition and performance skills.
“It has been our ultimate goal to put up a high-quality live music production. I am delighted that our efforts have gained recognition from international cultural stakeholders whose partnership has enabled us to put together this event, which I believe adds value to the Kenyan creative industry.”- Women In Music founder and jazz musician Christine Kamau said.
The concert promises an exciting mix of acoustic, afrofusion, R&B and pop for live music lovers in Kenya’s capital. The concert with start at 7pm and run through to 10pm. Get your tickets at www.mtickets.com
