Anchor at Hvar town under the shadows of Spanjola Fortress - the Venetian citadel that looms over the town. Hike the 1100 steps up to the fortress or wander the cobblestone streets of the city and explore the Cathedral of St Stephen with its 17th century bell tower. After sunset shop the many market stalls for lavender gifts or sip cocktails at one of the many bars Hvar is famous for. Also not to miss is Stari Grad, this charming town is one of the oldest towns in Croatia where ancient Greek stonewalls can be seen encircling the original settlement. Walk the waterfront and see St Stephen's Church, a beautiful 17th Century shrine in the town's main square.

This quiet island offers picturesque walks around the bay along with a small hotel and marina to explore. For the more active, hike to the hidden village of Zaklopatica for a spectacular view of the medieval enclave.

Spend a night in the charming dusty fishing village of Polace. Take a minibus to the breathtaking Holm Oak and Aleppo Pine forests of the Mljet National Park. The minibus drops off hikers at an inland salt-water lake, to embark small vessels to a sacred island where Benedictine Monks built a monastery in 12th century AD.

Moor at ACI Dubrovnik Marina, and take the short bus ride to explore one of the most historic and beautiful of all European cities. Learn about the old city of Dubrovnik's rich history and architectural wonders by renting a headset and walking the fortified city walls on a 2-3 hour tour.

Zlatni rat beach commonly known as Bol beach, on Brac Island, is a geological phenomenon - a stunning 1km peninsula of sand jutting out in the Hvarski Channel. Wander the beach and enjoy snorkeling off the tip.

Trogir is a medieval town founded on an ancient Greek settlement dating from 380 BC. The Romans came in 78 AD and in the Middle Ages it was occupied by Byzantine, Saracen, Hungarian and then Venetians. The rich history and unique architecture have made Trogir a UNESCO world heritage site.

Saturday is best spent visiting Split town or Trogir sites before taking a short taxi ride to the marina for boarding. If you arrive early at the marina on boarding day, bags can be left with the owner/operator but you will not officially be able to board until 17:00. Upon arrival at allocated marina, report to your yacht operator's office.

Airport to Split town: Taxis can be found lined up at the airport and take about 30 minutes to get to Split town It costs approximately 40 Euros one-way per taxi.

Airport to Split town or Trogir: Upon arrival at Split airport exit the building where shuttle buses are available for either Trogir or Split town. Split ACI Marina, Kastela Marina and Marina Zenta are a short taxi ride from Split town.

Dubrovnik Boarding Location

Dubrovnik: dubrovnik aci marina.

ACI Marina Dubrovnik lies near Komolac, about 2 km from the entrance to the port of Gruž and 6 km from the old city.

Taxis can be found lined up at the airport and take about 45 minutes to get to Dubrovnik ACI Marina town. It costs approximately 50 Euros one-way per taxi.

Airport to Old Town Dubrovnik: Upon arrival at Dubrovnik airport exit the building and the airport shuttle bus is parked alongside the building. Tickets are bought on the bus and the cost of the airport transfer is approximately 5 Euros. The shuttle stops at Pile Gate in front of Old Town Dubrovnik where you want to disembark. Old Town Dubrovnik to ACI Dubrovnik Marina: Just outside of Pile Gate you can purchase tickets for bus numbers 1A or 1B and get off at stop in Komolac (just after the INA gas pump).

Essentially, the charterer or one of his crew becomes the skipper and takes full responsibility for navigating and operating the yacht. Bareboat charters are typically more affordable than crewed charters but require the charterer to have sailing experience and the necessary certifications to operate the yacht. The charterer is also responsible for all aspects of the trip, including navigation, provisioning, and cleaning. This type of charter is perfect for experienced sailors who want the freedom to explore on their own terms.

The skipper must possess sailing and navigational experience adequate to the boat size and tonnage to charter a bareboat sailing yacht, catamaran, or motorboat in Croatia. Besides experience, it is necessary to have a skipper qualification/license .

In addition to skipper qualification, the VHF license is required. The VHF license can have as well one of the crew members. Although most clients choose to rent a catamaran with a professional skipper, the vast majority of catamarans are available for a bareboat charter. Security deposit & Deposit Insurance

For all bareboat yacht charters in Croatia, the charterer must leave a security deposit at check-in. The amount of the security deposit depends on the size and value of the vessel, typically € 1000-5000. The security deposit is returned at check out entirely if there is no damage to the boat caused by the skipper or his crew. The client can pay the security deposit in cash or by card. The alternative to a security deposit is the insurance of the deposit. This means you will pay a smaller amount - non-refundable and leave the reduced part of the deposit - refundable part. The insurance of the deposit is not available for all charter boats.

It is advisable for each skipper to make skipper insurance with one of the insurance companies. You can apply online for skipper and crew insurance with EIS .  However, even when you have skipper insurance, you will leave a security deposit at check-in. In case of damage settlement, with the proper documentation and invoice, you can get a refund for the paid insurance claim.

When chartering a bareboat yacht, you take full responsibility as a skipper for yourself, your crew, and the boat. Before sailing out, we recommend planning the sailing itinerary according to the weather forecast and making the food provision . There are markets and shops on all of the inhabited islands in Croatia. Therefore, it is unnecessary to buy groceries in advance for the whole week, for the first two or three days is advisable.

While a skipper isn’t provided, you should have prior sailing experience. Familiarity with navigation, anchoring, and basic seamanship ensures a safe and enjoyable journey.

Sailing License or Certification:

What is the safety deposit?

Deposit is the insurance (assurance), that you will return the sail boat  back in its previous condition. As a boat's captain, you take the full responsibility for potential damages caused on board during your trip. The deposit is charged at the charter's office at the check in and is 100% refundable, if the boat is returned undamaged . If you don't posess valid licenses, chartering a skippered yacht in Croatia is advised.

The deposit amount is set by the charter policy (depends on the boat length, age and insurance rate) payable by VISA, EUROCARD, DINERS or cash. We can offer a deposit insurance with non-refundable fee (app.10% of the full insurance sum).

What are the obligatory extras on bareboat charters?

Obligatory extras are additional items that you pay at the charter office during the check in procedure. Some of these items you already pay through the yacht charter, at the reservation. It is required to refuel the tanks before returning to home port. However, there are some obligatory extras, that you need to pay at spot:

• Croatia local tax (1.35€ per day a person)
• Security Deposit for boat
• Port and marina fees on route
• Food and provisioning

Is it possible to insure the deposit for a yacht charter?

Most of the Croatia charter companies  approve this option. It is required to let us know in advance that you want to insure the securtiy deposit. Please note that this covers most of the damages depending on the insurance policy of the  specific boat owner. What exactly the damage waiver covers (usually the sails, hull, loss of fenders or a winch handle, small scratches and ropes).

Damage waiver is a non-refundable part. The insurance amount depends on the age, the length and the insurance policy of the vessel. Some charters require a small refundable part (10%) to cover the damages like "fee for unblocking the toilet, gross negligence damage, vandalism and if the yacht is not fueled at the check out.
