X-Yachts X-41 review: from the archive

First of all, the X-Yachts X-41 is not simply a larger X-35.

Product Overview

Manufacturer:.

Although they are clearly from the same stable, Niels Jeppesen has given her a deep T-keel for stability.

But the X-Yachts X-41 carries a comparatively lower sail area than her sister.

The reason for this, according to Jeppesen, is that the X-Yachts X-35 was designed specifically to establish a class in the Mediterranean, requiring plenty of sail to cope with light conditions.

Choosing to market her as a one-design has also let X-Yachts fit her with all the toys as standard – carbon spars, wheel and some tidy line handling arrangements.

The deck layout of the X-Yachts X-41 rewards close scrutiny.

There’s an abundance of tweaks to be made, with barber haulers for the head sail and spinnaker sheets and powerful outhaul, cunningham and kicker purchases led to camcleats on both sides of the coach roof.

The mainsheet is led under the side decks to the aft pair of cockpit winches, avoiding any trip or chafe problems for crew sitting out.

A powerful traveller runs the full width of the cockpit within easy reach of the helm or the main trimmer.

Both mainsheet and traveller lines are continuous, the traveller line routed through small blocks clipped to the guard wires to keep it to hand.

Backstay adjustment is through X-Yachts’ patented Magic Wheel, as fitted to the IMX40, IMX45 and most recently the X-35.

This impressive system uses a huge drum below decks to provide most of the purchase, allowing rapid backstay adjustment simply by pulling a lot of line.

It’s tidy and quicker than hydraulics and is routed conveniently through a small tube which emerges just below the centre of the traveller.

The innovations don’t stop there. X-Yachts have fitted Harken’s dual diameter Quattro winches to the coachroof, which allow fast sheeting of the spinnaker sheets via the large diameter drum or a lower gear by simply shifting the line up to the main drum and self-tailer.

X-Yachts-X-41-review-helm-credit- X-Yachts

The big carbon wheel was comfy to use from either side of the cockpit and offered a good view forward.

Lifting the GRP cover below the helmsman’s feet reveals another clever detail – the quadrant is immediately abaft the helm and as close to the centre of the wheel as possible, allowing short cables to be used and eliminating slack.

All good in theory, but does it work on the water? In a word, yes.

The X-Yachts X-41 is a thoroughbred racer which is already showing her class – the team won the first race of the Warsash Spring Series by 15 minutes on corrected time.

We sailed the boat twice; once for the second race of the series, then later for a detailed test.

On the first occasion, the wind ranged from 30-38 knots, giving us a fast run to the course and race organisers the jitters.

A stiff performer

They cancelled the race, but skipper Jochem Visser suggested we should go for a sail anyway.

It was a bumpy ride upwind under reefed main and jib, conditions that the hull’s steel reinforcement, which picks up rig and keel load, is designed to counteract.

Turning for the spinnaker run, we drove the boat hard, surfing down waves to reach speeds up to 15 knots.

The 12 crew were necessary to sail and balance the boat in these conditions and proved that the large cockpit could work well when fully crewed.

The second session couldn’t have been more different – bright sunshine and light winds averaging six knots.

X-Yachts-X-41-review-in-action-credit- X-Yachts

The crew of 12 were essential for spinnaker work and helpful weight on the wind.

Sailing upwind and sacrificing a little height for power, the X-Yachts X-41 turned in a more than respectable five to six knots, often matching or exceeding the true wind speed.

She responded well to crew placement, delivering much better helm balance with plenty of weight to leeward.

The big carbon wheel was comfy to use from either side of the cockpit and offered a good view forward, and there were plenty of brace points for the helmsman whatever the steering position.

Helming was finger-light yet positive – the boat responded well to small corrections and the steering system showed no slack.

Even in these light airs, feedback was good and she proved easy to keep in the groove.

X-Yachts-X-41-review-in-action3-credit- X-Yachts

Upwind in 30 knots: the X-41 proved a good all-rounder.

Tacking is fast and straightforward thanks to the non-overlapping rig.

Bearing away and hoisting a symmetric spinnaker, we nudged seven knots, reaching as the wind filled in slightly. Again, she proved positive to handle, rewarding puffs of wind with good acceleration.

Under engine the 41 performed well, cruising at over eight knots and reaching just over nine knots flat out.

As can be expected from her narrow keel. the turning circle was tight – 1.25 boat lengths – and performance astern was secure and positive.

Although primarily a racing boat, the X-Yachts X-41 still offers a few cruiser comforts.

The cockpit is a good width for bracing and deep enough to feel secure, and has two good lockers for fenders and lines plus a large lazarette accessed through the floor behind the helm.

The racing foil on the headstay can be replaced with roller-reefing gear with the drum mounted below deck. But the really neat concession to cruising is the anchor box.

X-Yachts’ system lets you fit an anchor well and windlass which can be entirely removed when racing, using a fully sealed hatch to prevent water ingress. It’s not a quick job, admittedly, but impressive nonetheless.

Light and welcoming

The interior layout is similar to that of the X-35, but the extra length has allowed a few welcome changes, notably a larger galley, forward-facing nav station and doors and lockers for the aft cabins.

Yet the first impression below is of simplicity – there’s a light, welcoming feel thanks to teak being restricted to necessary joiner work, a generous use of white and lots of opening lights and hatches.

Starting at the bow, there’s a zippered, mesh panel which opens into an empty bow cavity suitable for sail stowage, but would be filled with the anchor box when cruising.

The forecabin has a conventional triangular berth, its split mattress easily moved to allow access beneath the berth.

The hatches which offer access to this stowage space are too narrow to accept anything but the smallest sails, but provide plenty of stowage for other objects.

Other stowage is provided by a large locker with hanging and shelving space. Both aft cabins feature a similar locker.

X-Yachts-X-41-review-heads-credit- X-Yachts

The heads and shower are basic, but practical.

Forward and accessed through the saloon, the heads is large enough for showering and has a large locker behind the usual mirrored doors the space below the sink is left open.

The saloon has two long settees either side of a drop-leaf table.

As on the X-35, the seat backs hinge upwards, giving access to the full width of the cushions when sleeping.

It’s a shame no extra cushion is provided, so that the hinged section can double as an upper berth.

That said, because the boat is able to sleep ten, few people are likely to find this restricting.

X-Yachts-X-41-review-saloon-credit- X-Yachts

Plenty of white makes a bright interior.

The settee cushions and their plywood bases also hinge up to allow access to the water tank to port and diesel tank to starboard, plus limited stowage. Grab handles below the portlights run throughout the saloon.

A large nav station is at the foot of the companionway, with plenty of space for paper and electronic navigation.

Stowage is in a stack of four drawers in the pedestal and there’s even a handy pen box under a flap in the chart table top.

Opposite, the galley is large enough for standard cooking and has good stowage above the stove.

However, less successful is the stack of four drawers adjacent to the stove – with an inside width of only 9cm, you have to wonder how useful they will be.

The simple aft cabins have a large locker each and berths that are mounted low in the boat, with little space beneath.

A pipecot is also fitted should you need to squeeze three people into each cabin.

The engine box, which protrudes into both cabins, can be readily removed, as can the companionway steps, to provide superb all-round engine access.

For sheer adrenalin, the X-Yachts X-41 takes the honours. She’s fast and fun, and rewards careful trim and handling with clear returns of speed.

The big rig, deep draught and high sail area/displacement creates a stiff, responsive yacht that can put a smile on your face and some results on the board.

My guess is that X-Yachts X-41’s will spend most of their time in racing mode.

That said, just as many a sports car driver has never been near a track, several owners of the 40 or so boats already pre-sold admitted that they never plan to race at all.

X-41 One Design: Review

X41Review368

X-Yachts’ new 41-foot racer is the boat with which you do anything and everything. With stellar performance, clean design, and attention to detail in its hardware, construction, it was a standout in a crowded field of crossover designs, boats as well suited for racing as they are for cruising. In our light-air tests this boat sailed well and this performance has been confirmed in other conditions by winning several major events last summer and fall.A first look at the X-41 shows a slight rake to the stem, and the stern has powerful cross sections and a small amount of overhang, indicating this boat is all waterline. At just under 12-feet wide the X-41 has moderate beam, and the 8-foot T-bulb keel provides more stability than some similar boats. The carbon-fiber Nordic mast, six winches, halyard clutches, and sail control hardware all say this boat wants to race.During our test sail the X-41 accelerated well in only 6 knots of wind. With two sets of aft-swept spreaders and chainplates on the rail, jib LP is limited to 106 percent but the foretriangle is tall, about 95 percent of mast height, and the rig was sized with the small jib overlap in mind. Sail controls are also in place to easily adjust the sails, powering up in the light and de-powering in more breeze with jib in-hauler tackle hidden in the companionway hatch rails. The main trimmer has no need to leave the weather side as all controls are within reach. The helm on this boat feels great; smooth with no friction in the Jefa rudder bearings and steering components controlled with a 67-inch carbon wheel. Upwind there is a touch of weather helm pressure to keep the helmsman happy and in touch with the boat’s feel. The helmsman has terrific visibility from the weather side with the jib telltales, oncoming waves, and up-course breeze all visible. Downwind the helm is again light and responsive, but also positive.Off the wind the X-41 sets a 1,577- square-foot masthead spinnaker on a traditional spinnaker pole. Our speed on the GPS was 5.5 knots in just under 6 knots true-wind speed at a true-wind angle of 130 degrees. Maneuvers went smoothly with the cockpit laid out so headsail trimmers were not elbowing the main trimmer.Typical of many boats this size, the spinnaker sheets share the cabin-top winches; halyards and afterguys lead to primary winches. Dual-diameter Harken Quattro drums on the cabin house accommodate for the different line speeds required by a light-air spinnaker sheet trim and the last centimeter of a heavily loaded halyard. Harken three-speed primary winches have the range of speed and power to handle jib sheets and afterguys. There are toe rails forward of the mast only, and the lifeline stanchions are located all the way outboard, within an inch of the rail, which puts the lower lifeline further outboard so it’s easier for crew to hike hard. At the bow the twin groove headfoil has a jib-furling drum set below deck to take full advantage of available luff length. The interior of the X-41 will work well for distance as well as day racing. Aft on each side of the boat, under the cockpit, are double berths with pipe berths. The mid-cabin settee/berths sleep another body to weather on hinged platforms. For the serious racer, the cabin table pulls off its base, revealing a stainless steel tube that now serves as a grab bar/divider to keep the headsails where they are stowed instead of in a pile to leeward.X-Yachts builds the X-41 of E-glass and PVC foam sandwich. Vinylester resin is used for the outside layers for resistance to osmotic blistering and polyester resin thereafter. By using female mold tooling, X-Yachts can vary core thickness and density to remove weight from lightly loaded areas of the hull while maintaining extra strength in high-load areas. Where there are high local loads, such as near the keel frame, the rudder bearings, and other through hulls, the foam is replaced with solid fiberglass. X-Yachts has used galvanized steel frames with single-point lifting attachments throughout their history and it is interesting to see this heavy item is smaller in the new, lighter models to where it supports only the keel and mast. The rest of the structural support is supplied by the molded fiberglass liner. The result is less structural weight and less chance of corrosion over time. Further saving weight of toe rails and fasteners, the X-41’s deck is bonded to the hull (with modern adhesives this has become standard boatbuilding procedure). X-Yachts have paid a lot of attention to both the broad-brush concept and also to details with the X-41. They have a combination of hull shape, keel, rudder, and rig that sails as a raceboat should, is relatively easy to keep in the groove, and is winning races. The sail-handling areas and interior work well, and many hardware details add to the mix. Even their manufacturing details help create a boat that not only sails well but is built efficiently so they can deliver the base boat at about $375,000.

X-Yachts X-41 One Design – NOW SOLD

Posted Monday 29th June 2020

x yacht x41

Grabau International  is delighted to announce the sale of the  2007 X-Yachts X-41 One Design ‘GODSPEED’.

A highly specified cruiser/racer from the renowned Danish Yard, combining highly regarded build quality with great performance, huge race sail wardrobe, professionally maintained and many great race results – must be sold!

FURTHER BROKER’S COMMENTS:

Having been professionally maintained and skippered under her current ownership since 2016, GODSPEED has had many updates, with her most recent refits being done in early 2019, she enjoys a very comprehensive sail wardrobe and has had many impressive race results making her the perfect cruiser/racer as she still enjoys a beautifully crafted interior for comfortable but fast cruising, as X-Yachts are known for. A new commercial project means that the seller is having to sell GODSPEED and let her next owner enjoy her.

Her highlights include:- • Painted carbon fibre mast and boom. • Carbon spinnaker pole. • Extensive sail wardrobe of 8x sails. • Tuff luff forestay. • Replaced flush deck roller furler. • 3-cabin 1-heads interior layout. • Volvo Penta diesel engine on a saildrive producing 40hp. • Autopilot. • Replaced helming compass. • Computer. • Depth Sounder. • Log. • Wind speed & direction. • Cockpit and interior speakers. • Wireless mobile speaker. • Replaced VHF radio. • GPS Chart Plotter. • GPS. • Instruments mounted at the base of the mast. • Inverter. • Radar. • MOB system. • Radar Reflector. • Satellite antenna. • Electric anchor windlass • Replaced gas oven/stove. • Heating. • Replaced water heater. • Interior joinery has been re-varnished. • Refrigerator. • Cockpit cover. • Replaced sprayhood. • Carbon steering wheel. • Teak to the cockpit seat bases • Transom Shower. • Passeralle. • Hinged bathing ladder. • Life raft. • Optional removable anchor locker.

OWNER’S COMMENTS:

“My X-41 ONE DESIGN was totally refitted this year in February and March 2019. All services on engine where done, new “International“ antifouling applied, new furling system on the forestay, new toilet, new wiring, new autopilot. I have won several regattas with her and we did four Atlantic crossings on our own keel. She has a perfect rating, she is not modified and can still sail as a ONE DESIGN racer. Extra Taff Luff is there and there is a cockpit cover. She may only need a new Racing Main sail to be competing at the top of her class. She has just finished the last Austrian Offshore Championship in 3rd place Spring 2019.”

BUILDER’S COMMENTS:

“DESIGN: The X-41 is something very special. Never before has a one-design yacht seized the imagination of sailors all round the globe with such speed. The demand from the international sailing community has been unprecedented and 70 of these sleek racers were purchased within 18 months of the design’s launch in 2006. The class continues to grow with the same pace that the X-41 shows on the water. ISAF recognition can only accelerate the popularity of this thrilling design. X-Yachts has a special magic when it comes to the creation of one-designs. The X-79 and X-99 led the way and the X-35, launched in 2005, quickly established classes in more than fifteen countries and has held ISAF-approved World Championships since 2007.

The X-41 is the latest thoroughbred to leave the stable. She is designed to perform under both ORCi and IRC, in addition to one-design racing. She also boasts a beautifully crafted interior and is a comfortable boat to cruise.

Be careful! Sail one of these exciting and adaptable yachts and you may discover that life is not complete without an X-41.

PERFORMANCE: The X-41 has sparkling performance. The long hull length, low centre of gravity and T-keel create a yacht that is stiff and strong. The carbon mast and boom, coupled with a non-overlapping headsail, allow great responsiveness and a choice of rig and deck gear allows owners to create a racer/cruiser to suit their style. This is a modern and efficient sailing machine and being aboard is a thrilling experience.

Owning an X-41 opens doors to a world of competition and adventure. Impressive IRC and ORCi performance is coupled with a one-design racing that continues to attract the most discerning owners. Some of the world’s best sailors are drawn to an ever-evolving calendar of events that takes in many of Europe’s premiere competitions.

Away from the racecourse the X-41 can show a softer side in cruising mode. Expect quick passage times while enjoying the simple, elegant interior.”

The Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, Maryland collapsed Tuesday into the Patapsco River after it was struck by a large cargo ship.

The bridge's collapse has prompted huge emergency response, with the Baltimore City Fire Department describing the collapse as a mass-casualty incident, and rescue crews searching for seven people in the river. Maryland Gov. Wes Moore has declared a state of emergency.

Baltimore  Mayor Brendon Scott  said on X that he was aware of the incident and was en route to the bridge. "Emergency personnel are on scene, and efforts are underway," he said.

The 1.6 mile, 4-lane bridge named for the author of the "Star-Spangled Banner," was the second-longest continuous-truss bridge span in the United States and third in the world.

Baltimore bridge collapse

Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed after being hit by a cargo ship , sending at least eight people from a construction crew into the water. Follow live updates and see photos from the scene .

How it happened: The container ship lost power shortly before hitting the bridge, Maryland Gov. Wes Moore (D) said. Video shows the bridge collapse in under 40 seconds.

Victims: Divers recovered the bodies of two construction workers who died , while finding other vehicles trapped and probably containing the other victims, officials said. They were fathers, husbands and hard workers . The entire crew aboard the container ship Dali survived . First responders shut down most traffic on the four-lane bridge after the crew issued an urgent mayday call. It saved lives, Moore said.

Economic impact: The collapse of the bridge, which severed ocean links to the Port of Baltimore, adds a fresh headache to already struggling global supply chains . See how the collapse will disrupt the supply of cars, coal and other goods .

History: The Key Bridge was built in the 1970s and spanned the Patapsco River. Rebuilding the bridge will probably take years and cost hundreds of millions of dollars, experts said.

Why the Baltimore Bridge Collapsed So Quickly

The steel frame of the Francis Scott Key Bridge sits on top of a container ship after the bridge collapsed Baltimore...

Just shy of half past 1 in the morning, the MV Dali , a giant container ship, was sailing gently out of the port of Baltimore when something went terribly wrong. Suddenly, lights all over the 300-meter-long vessel went out. They flicked on again a moment later, but the ship then began to veer to the right, toward one of the massive pylon-like supports on the Francis Scott Key truss bridge—a huge mass of steel and concrete that spans the Patapsco River.

The Dali ’s lights went out a second time. Then the impact came. The ship plowed into the support, with large sections of the bridge’s main truss section instantly snapping apart and falling into the river. It took just 20 seconds or so for the structure to come down.

Now, a major US port is in disarray, and several people who were working on the bridge at the time of its collapse are missing. A rescue operation is underway. President Biden has called the disaster a “terrible accident.” Ship traffic is currently stuck on either side of the crash site, and a major roadway through Baltimore has been cut off.

“It’s a dreadful tragedy and something you hope never to see,” says David Knight, a bridge expert and specialist adviser to the UK’s Institution of Civil Engineers. But commenting on footage of the bridge collapse , he says he is not surprised by the manner in which it crumpled.

Large steel structures may seem invulnerable, but steel, explains Knight, is relatively lightweight for its size. As soon as it is pushed or pulled the wrong way with enough force, it can fold like paper. In this case, the Francis Scott Key Bridge was a “continuous,” or unjointed, bridge that had a 366-meter-long central truss section. (Truss bridges use steel beams, arranged in triangular shapes, to support their load.) The central truss was made up of three horizontal stretches, known as spans, with two sets of supports holding these above the water. It was the third-largest structure of its kind in the world.

Will Knight

The Baltimore Bridge Collapse Is About to Get Even Messier

Aarian Marshall

The Earth Will Feast on Dead Cicadas

“When you take a support away, there is very little in the way of robustness,” says Knight. “It will drag down, as we saw, all three spans.” The separate approach spans remain standing. There is nothing in Knight’s view that immediately suggests any structural problem with the bridge. An engineering firm, Hardesty & Hanover, confirmed to WIRED that it performed an inspection of the bridge in 2019, and that other inspections have been carried out since, but did not provide any additional details on the state of the structure. WIRED has approached H&H for further comment. In June last year, the US Federal Highway Administration rated the condition of the bridge as satisfactory .

The immense force of the container ship impact should not be underestimated, adds Knight. Such vessels require a lot of power and time—perhaps many minutes—to come to a complete stop. The Francis Scott Key Bridge was completed in 1977. In more recent decades, bridge engineers have commonly incorporated defenses to reduce the potential damage by ship strikes when bridges are erected in similar locations, Knight says. These include hydraulic barriers and additional concrete around the base of bridge supports, for instance. However, even with such fortifications in place, heavy strikes can still cause devastating damage.

It is not clear why lights turned off and on again on the Dali , a Singapore-flagged ship built in 2015. “That is an indication of a massive problem,” says Salvatore Mercogliano, a maritime historian at Campbell University in North Carolina and a YouTuber who has analyzed the crash .

At the time of the accident, two pilots—mariners who board a ship to help it navigate particular stretches of water, including in and out of ports—from Baltimore were on board. The Dali was broadcasting its position publicly via the automatic identification system (AIS) and was traveling at a speed of over 8.5 knots. It then slowed to around 6 knots in the moments before the crash, according to AIS data .

Both pilots and all crew members on the Dali are accounted for. There are no reports of injuries, the ship’s management company, Synergy Group, said in a statement on March 26.

ABC News reports that the crew of the vessel made a desperate mayday call in an attempt to warn transport officials that the crash was about to occur. A report from the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, seen by ABC, says the Dali “lost propulsion” and that the crew were aware they had “lost control” of the ship. Maryland governor Wes Moore told reporters that , thanks to the mayday call, officials were able to stem the flow of traffic over the bridge, an intervention that he says “saved lives.”

Mercogliano says it is very difficult for ships of this size to make rapid adjustments to their trajectories. Video footage shows a sudden outpouring of smoke from the vessel’s stack, indicating a change in engine activity of some kind. What is particularly disturbing is that, in this case, the vessel ends up plowing straight into one of the key supports for the bridge, clearly off course. No information as to why this happened has become public.

Photographs of the aftermath show the bow of the ship pinned beneath fallen sections of the bridge . The anchor chain is visible, meaning that at some point the anchor was dropped, though it is not certain whether this happened before or after impact. The chain appears to be at an angle, however, which Mercogliano says could be a sign that it was dropped shortly before the crash and dragged for a brief time.

Lawyer James Turner of Quadrant Chambers in London specializes in, among other things, ship collisions. He says that there would have been no automated systems on board a merchant ship of this kind able to prevent the impact. Information from radar, AIS, and visual observations would have been available to the crew, however.

But data-collecting systems may now reveal exactly what happened. As on airplanes, commercial ships have data and audio recorders on the bridge, which are often a key source of information for investigators post-incident. “The master will hit a button and that ensures that the last two hours of audio recording are preserved, as well as all the data from the various parts of the ship, like the engine and steering and so on,” explains Turner. “That can be downloaded and queried.”

He adds that estimates of the ship’s speed at the time of the incident as recorded by AIS are likely “99.99 percent accurate.”

For now, the focus of responders will be on locating survivors from the fallen bridge. Two people have been rescued, one of whom is in the hospital. Six construction workers remain missing .

The disaster has come at a difficult time for shipping, with drought afflicting the Panama Canal and Houthi attacks striking multiple vessels in the Red Sea in recent months. Somali piracy is on the rise again , also. The grounding of the Ever Given in the Suez Canal is very much still within recent memory—it occurred a mere three years ago.

The Port of Baltimore insists in a statement that it has not been shut down—road vehicles are still operating within the port—however, all ship traffic in and out is suspended until further notice. AIS data reveals around a dozen commercial vessels at anchor outside the port, their entry now blocked by the stricken bridge and the Dali . It will take some time for the US Army Corps of Engineers to remove the steel pieces of the bridge, which present a significant threat to passing vessels, from the river.

“Whatever ships are in the port are now stuck,” says Mercogliano, who notes that Baltimore is an important port in terms of car deliveries and coal exports.

Overall, he argues, maritime operations are extremely safe today, though the volume and velocity of trade mean that when things go wrong it can be especially serious.

“We move goods a lot faster than ever before, and there’s very little margin for error,” he says. “When there is a mistake, the mistakes tend to be very large.”

New video & photos show more of raid on diddy's miami home, airport run-in, diddy new video, photos of miami raid ... and airport fed run-in.

TMZ has obtained new video showing the full extent of the raid at Diddy 's home in Miami Monday -- not to mention the moment federal agents stopped his crew at the airport.

Check out this video we got that was taken just as Homeland Security officials descended on Diddy's properties on Star Island -- which was guarded and blocked off by law enforcement as agents made their move via boat, pulling up to a dock leading to his adjacent homes.

As you can see, it looks like Uncle Sam sent the cavalry for this operation ... because not only were there boots on the ground and in the water, but there was a chopper as well.

Just like here in L.A. -- where an army of law enforcement swarmed Diddy's home -- his Miami grounds were just as infiltrated ... although, it looks like the raid here was a little more low-key, as Star Island is quite literally sectioned off from the public. So, less gawkers.

Still, it was no less dramatic -- especially when you get a full sense of what went down.

BTW, what you see in this footage isn't all that happened to Diddy -- remember, he was stopped at a nearby airport ... this while he was with family/friends ahead of Spring Break. Unfortunately, their plans were interrupted ... and we have new visuals of that as well.

Take a look at this image ... you can see Homeland Security and Customs officials surrounding Diddy's private jet before it could take off ... the feds were obviously rolling deep to stop him.

You can't see Diddy himself in these pics ... but this is certainly his entourage -- including what appears to be his teenage twin daughters ... as well as the guy who was arrested Monday from all this ... 25-year-old Brendan Paul , who got busted on drug charges.

As we reported ... Brendan was the only one in Diddy's party who went to jail yesterday -- nobody else was arrested, and that goes for Diddy himself. In these new photos, you can see Brendan with his blue sweater in the mix -- but at this point, he seems to be uncuffed.

Of course, we know Diddy was also there at the airport ... on account of video we got of him that same day, pacing around outside as questioning was going on indoors among the others.

At this point, we know Diddy hasn't been arrested or charged ... although, there's most certainly a federal investigation that's got him under a microscope, coast to coast.

Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed on Tuesday morning after it was struck by a large container ship.

A video of the incident was posted early on Tuesday morning to X, formerly Twitter. In the video, the container ship the Dali is seen colliding with one of the bridge's support beams. Smoke is seen billowing from the ship before the bridge began crumbling.

"MAJOR BALTIMORE TRAFFIC ALERT: AVOID I-695 southeast corridor. I-695 Key Bridge collapse due to ship strike," the Maryland Transportation Authority said in an X post on Tuesday morning.

A representative for the Baltimore Police Department told ABC News that "at 1:35 a.m., Baltimore City police were notified of a partial bridge collapse, with workers possibly in the water, at the Francis Scott Key Bridge."

Emergency services teams, including divers and at least two helicopters, responded to the scene, per Baltimore County's police scanner in the hour and a half after the bridge's collapse.

Wes Moore, governor of Maryland, declared a state of emergency early on Tuesday.

He said he was working to "quickly deploy federal resources from the Biden Administration," per the BBC.

In a news conference later in the day, Moore said that the crew on the ship notified authorities they had lost power.

Moore told reporters that the ship was moving at a "very rapid speed" and that the call to the authorities stopped a greater disaster from occurring, with cars redirected away from the bridge.

He also said the bridge was "fully up to code" and had no structural issues.

Paul Wiedefeld, Maryland's transportation secretary, told reporters that there were workers on the bridge at the time repairing potholes, and that six people were unaccounted for.

The White House said it was "closely monitoring" the situation, and that there was no indication of any nefarious intent.

"Our hearts go out to the families of those who remain missing as a result of this horrific incident," a spokesperson told BI in a statement.

Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg said on X that he had offered the DOT's support to Moore and Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott.

The Baltimore Fire Department estimates that up to 20 people people went into the water, the BBC reported .

Related stories

Baltimore Fire Department Chief James Wallace said at a press conference early Tuesday that two people had been recovered from the water. One refused service, while another was transported to a local trauma center "in very serious condition," he said.

The fire department had not made contact with the ship's captain yet, he said.

A livestream view of the area at around 3:00 a.m. local time showed the bridge's structure partially submerged in the harbor and in several pieces.

An unclassified Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency report said that the ship "lost propulsion" as it was leaving port, ABC News reported .

The crew notified officials that they had lost control and warned of a possible collision, the report said, per ABC News.

Structural engineer Ian Firth told the BBC that the heavy ship would have struck the bridge support backed by many thousands of metric tons.

"The support is a very, relatively, flimsy structure when you look at it, it's a kind of trestle structure with individual legs," he told the outlet. "So, the bridge has collapsed simply as a result of this very large impact force."

Barbara Rossi, an engineering professor at the University of Oxford, told BI: "According to what I could see online, the bridge has received a huge impact force on one of its supporting structures."

"The impacting force must have been immense," she said.

The Dali is owned by Grace Ocean, a Singapore-based firm. The firm confirmed in a statement on Tuesday morning that their vessel had struck one of the bridge's pillars, per TradeWinds .

"All crew members, including the two pilots, have been accounted for and there are no reports of any injuries. There has also been no pollution," read the firm's statement.

It had 22 crew aboard, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore said in a statement .

According to Grace Ocean, the vessel was bound for Colombo, Sri Lanka when the accident took place.

Maersk, the ship's charterer, confirmed that vessel company Synergy Group operates the ship. Maersk's spokesperson told BI in a statement that the company is "horrified" by the events, and added that no Maersk employees were on board.

"We are closely following the investigations conducted by authorities and Synergy," it added.

As of Tuesday morning, authorities warned mariners and drone operators to avoid the waters and nearby airspace.

Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski, Jr. said in an X post that the authorities "are closely monitoring the ongoing situation at the Key Bridge."

"Our prayers remain with all those impacted," Olszewski wrote.

The Francis Scott Key Bridge opened in March 1977 as the final link in the Baltimore Beltway, according to the MDTA .

It cost $60.3 million to build and is 10.9 miles long, per the MDTA.

Light, strong and stiff

With the introduction of the X-65 in 2007, X-Yachts started to infuse hulls for performance yachts, utilising epoxy resin. Epoxy infusion construction offers fantastic control over the laminate, allowing it to be optimised to maximise strength and stiffness, whilst saving weight.

In the X4⁰, all weight saved is used to increase the yacht’s stability, enabling the crew to have a more relaxed time and to feel safer and more comfortable. The fact, that the hull is cured, baked at high temperatures for almost 24 hours, not only optimises the hull material properties, but also minimises the risk of the darker coloured hull surfaces to suddenly start posturing, losing the surface finish.

With over 10 years of experience building epoxy infused yachts, X-Yachts took the decision in 2018 to build all models using this technology, one of the only yacht builders to do so.

Construction

At the heart of the X4⁰, is the galvanised steel keel grillage structure. Pioneered by X-Yachts back in 1981, the galvanised steel hull girder offers superb reassurance and safety. Its primary role, is to spread keel and mast loads into the hull. It also enables the yacht to withstand extreme shock loads from grounding or an impact with a submersed object.

Not only is the keel structure immensely strong, it is also reliable and very easy to inspect for potential damage.

Bolted to the steel grillage, is the keel with iron fin and heavy lead bulb with moderate draft. There is both a shallow and a deep draft option available.

Construction

Deck layout

The standard deck layout comes with: 4 winches, two halyards, self-tacker sheet and control line winches next to the entrance, and two main sheet winches aft of the cockpit’s backrest coamings, within reach of the helmsman. The deck has an integrated recessed self-tacker track for an 88% jib.

There is an option for coach roof top, longitudinal Genoa tracks and two dedicated Genoa sheet winches on top of the cockpit backrest coamings, enabling the Genoa size to go up to 106% for improved light wind performance.

Interior luxury

Interior luxury

The interior of the X4⁰ is designed to maximise the space available, creating a functional, safe and stylish user experience below deck. Once again, the interior design will have Danish design flair and carpentry at its very best.

The craftsmanship and detailing will be of a very high standard, being both traditional but with a modern appearance. The wooden veneer will be Nordic Oak as standard, with other options on offer.

Missing boater’s body found on Lake Santa Fe, 1 boater rescued

MELROSE, Fla. (WCJB) - After a multi-hour search, crews have found the body of a boater who disappeared when a boat overturned.

Florida Fish and Wildlife crews are investigating after a boat on Lake Santa Fe overturned on Friday morning. One of the boaters swam to a dock and called for help. The second boater went under the water and after an hours-long search, his body was found.

A man who lives on the lake says the two men were fishing around 7 a.m. when their boat overturned. He says conditions were rough on the water and it was windy.

“The boat was going pretty fast for a small boat and the conditions with the wind out of the northwest it was kind of rough, but it only appeared from a distance as if he lost control of the boat because it kind of snapped around.”

Residents say they heard a loud noise before the boat overturned.

“My wife looked out she said, ‘There’s a boat upside down’ so we simply rushed down here,” said Bruce Hall, a resident. “By that time the neighbors had called. We just tried to offer help but there was nothing we could do.”

Neighbors say officials are inspecting the boat for signs of a mechanical failure. They say the boat appeared to be new.

At this time, FWC officials are not confirming the age or identity of the man who died.
